Green agenda On 28th December in Gevgelija was presented the draft version of the Green agenda - environmental document that was created by Gevgelija citizens in public meetings and 4 action groups during the past 4 months. The Green Agenda is a participatory method for developing and implementing local sustainable development strategies and plans with active involvement of different sectors in the local community where the process is conducted. The method is special, compared to other processes with similar aims, in at least 3 main aspects: the process starts out by identifying local values rather than problems; participation in the process is not limited to experts or certain stakeholder groups but is wide and open to all; and as a result the process and its results are genuinely owned by the local people. The Green agenda document will be given to the council of Gevgelija for approval as official strategic document for conserving the environment and natural and culture values of Gevgelija municipality for the time period 2011-2015. Apollonia Foundation took part in the action group Urban planning and waste management. Club GLOW is a group of high school young women who seek to show leadership by participating in activities to support their community. GLOW is a worldwide organization of the Peace Corps to promote Girls Leadership Over the World. This year’s recent Christmas workshop for children was a great success thanks to the participation of these outstanding volunteer workers. Club GLOW members actively helped plan the crafts activities and Christmas talent show. On the days of the workshop, they organized their craft materials, and taught and supervised children as they made ornaments, decorations, cards, candy jars, and wrapped boxes to be donated to needy families in the Gevgelija area. In addition to the workshop activities, GLOW girls added their creativity to planning and performing in a delightful holiday talent show that highlighted the many talents of the youth of Gevgelija. After the show, the girls organized and helped with donating clothes and toys, gathered by the community.
