In Motel Vardar, near the ancient city "Gortinija" as the oldest cultural and civilization trace in this region, was held a press conference for the cultural manifestation "Gevgelija - city of Culture 2011". The conference was held by the Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kancevska Milevska, along with representatives from the ministry, the chairman of the parliamentary commission for culture Vasko Shutarov, the mayor of the municipality of Gevgelija, representatives of cultural institutions in the city, representatives from Apollonia Foundation, other NGOs, artists and interested citizens. "Gevgelija is a city that has a soul, goodness, which fosters thoroughness of cultural monuments and traditions of the past, that’s why the Ministry of Culture has declared as "City of Culture 2011" in order the gentle historical past to maintain its brilliance" said the Minister of Culture.
Beneficent Christmas children’s workshop On 3 and 4 January at the Motel Vardar, Apollonia foundation organized beneficent Christmas children's workshop, on which participated children from Gevgelija, children with special needs from the daily center in Gevgelija, volunteers from the high school club Glow from Gevgelija, students flutists from Vaso Karajanov the music school, group Hip-Hop, Rhythm plus, the models from the Cultural Center and other young talents from Gevgelija. After finishing the workshop Irena and Stephanie from club Glow together with a social worker finished the charity action by donating the items collected during the workshop. Here's what they said about that experience: "There were 10 families with 30 kids which were chosen by the Social Service as the poorest. Before New Year Apollonia Foundation delivered them food and some household instruments. First we visited the two families in Gevgelija, then in Negorci, Prdejci, Miletkovo, Miravci, Bogorodica, Gavoto, Bogdanci, Crnicani and Dojran. With volunteerism and with the help from Apollonia Foundation and the participants in the Christmas workshop, we contributed at least a little happiness and hope to their faces. Our charity doesn't stop here, because we will organize some noble actions like this again. "It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving."~ Mother Teresa
