The public institution “Pionerski dom” from Gevgelija for the fifth time this year organized a Book fair, where many reputable publishing houses, such as Matica Makedonska, Toper, Nasha kultura, Phoenix, Prosvetno delo with Detska radost, Kultura and Mladinska kniga participated. The fair was held from 29.03.2011 to 01.04.2011 with a series of activities for children that had an educational and competitive nature. Apollonia Foundation together with the children from Nature day participated in the opening event "Arranging flowers contest", in which our “Nature day children” won third place.
FRIENDS: The fair was visited by many students, teachers and other citizens of Gevgelija. This Book fair was supported by Apollonia Foundation, which provided prizes for the winners in the masquerade contest for children “Aprilijada - April’s fools day” . www.gevgelija.gov.mk

Classical musical program for March 2011 Straso Temkov and Vesna Angelova are the artists that performed in the third classical music concert held on the 7th March at Apollonia Hotel as part of the musical program “Gevgelija spring 2011”. Wonderful pieces of J. S. Bach, F.Born and pieces of F.. Pulank: “Sonata for flute and piano” were performed in front Concerts Straso Temkov - Flute and Vesna Angelova - piano of Gevgelija audience. A surprise of the evening was the performance of one flute student from the Faculty for music, Biljana Kamceva, who won first prize at the State Competition for Flute in 2010. The beauty of the sounds of the flute, was the perfect way to set the scene in the Hotel Apollonia for the first of the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestar flutists Straso Temkov. Temkov actively participates in several seminars from baroque to contemporary music with world renowned professors. Since 2010 he has been a professor at the School of Music in Skopje. To capture the elegance of the delicate sounds of flute, piano accompaniment was contributed by Vesna Angelova. Vesna Angelova has performed solo recitals and chamber concerts in several cities in Macedonia, as a piano trio, composed of piano duo Angelova - Makarievski. In 2008 she made a cultural visit and a concert in Paris, realized through the Ministry of Culture. She works as an external associate of the Macedonian Philharmonic. Concert "Gevgelija musical talents” from the class of prof. Ljubica Ulisheva On the occasion of 8-th March, Woman’s day, in the Hotel Apollonia a concert was held of young musical talents from the class of prof. Ljubica Ulisheva. This concert was performed by seventeen young musical talents. The youngest artist who participated was 5 years-old. In this concert pieces were performed from Strauss: Waltz, American game, “Biljana platno beleshe”, Chopin: Waltz and other pieces, that were performed by the hands of young students from Gevgelija, which impressed the audience.
Guitar concert – Borce Naumovski The third concert held in March at the Hotel Apollonia and within the event "Gevgelija Musical Moments 2011", was the guitar concert performed by Borce Naumovski. He performed pieces from J.S.Bach - Praludio and Allegro, Mauro Giuliani Fantasia op.123, Fernando Sor Introduction and Variations op.9. He impressed the audience with a performance of pieces by Issac Albeniz - Asturias and Sevilla. Borce Naumovski has graduated in classical guitar from the Faculty for music in Skopje. He received his degree under the mentorship of prof. Srdjan Toshikj. He is a winner of numerous national awards, and second prize at the International NAISSUS GUITAR FEST. As a soloist he has performed numerous solo concerts and events in and outside the Republic of Macedonia. Currently he works as a professor of guitar at the state musical school “Todor Skalovski Tetoec"- Tetovo.

Nature Day - activities in March In March the activities for the children of the group "Nature day" was dedicated to education about climate change, and at the same time studding clouds and how they can predict the weather in the next few days. We began the activities with an organized cleaning event on the yard of the elementary school in Negorci. The next “Nature Day” we visited the village Moin where we had activities about clouds. After that we had a wonderful day at Paljurci – Bogdanci, where children through educational games learned to identify different types of clouds. We also had activities for studding the characteristics of wind and making kites. Most important for the children of the group "Nature Day" was planting trees in the locality Negorci hill. With planting of more than 100 trees, the children of the group "Nature Day”, contributed to the environmental action "Tree Day - Plant Your Future".

New law for foundations and associations According to the new law for foundations and associations all NGO’s and foundation need to re-register by the 23rd of April this year. Therefore a debate was organized in he “Pionerski Dom”- Gevgelija. The debate was organized by the Foundation for Local Community Development, Stip, in cooperation with the Center for NGO Support, Gevgelija, within the project "Open dialogue on the law on associations and foundations”, financed by the European Union. The purpose of the debate was to exchange information and experiences on the practical application of the Law on associations and foundations, as well as new opportunities provided by the law (status of the organization from public interest, entities to form an associations or foundations, foreigners to form new or chapters of associations or foundations, etc.). Earth Day 2011 To support and recognize international Earth Day 2011, The Nature Day program of the Apollonian Foundation will sponsor and organize a Billion Acts of Green community Fair on April 20. The goals of this event are: •
To create awareness of the need to protect our environment in the future.
•
Involve the children and citizens of Gevgelija in events that stimulate thought about every citizen’s role in conserving our environment.
•
Provide a forum and opportunity for community institutions and businesses to become involved in environmental action.
We will organize an Earth Day 2011 Fair with exhibitions of youth art, photography and craft projects, along with essay and speech contests, all on environmental themes. The exhibits and contests will take place on April 20 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the Public Library with the community invited to attend and be involved. We also want to consider creating an outside exhibition in the small center just outside of the Library that could include other community institutions and businesses. These exhibits would need to have an environmental theme and message.
