10:00 – 4:00 Friday & Saturday March 29th & 30th Learn how to successfully sew a variety of seaming, hemming, and embellishment techniques to give your projects a professional finish. Discover ways to make sewing easier by using proper feet, stitches, and features of BERNINA machines for precise sewing. Students will be inspired and encouraged to sew as they learn how to successfully work with new techniques made easy with the right tips and tools. You will graduate BERNINA ACADEMY with a completed BERNINA Academy II Technique Book. In addition, as a graduation gift, you will receive the collectible BERNINA Academy USB stick which includes information on the different techniques, needles, inspirational projects and instructions to inspire you long after the course is over. Please welcome our very special Educator: Sandra Larson Swick. Sandra has the unique distinction of sending one of her prize quilts into outer space! The quilt was signed by more than one hundred former students of astronaut and Teacher in Space, Barbara Morgan, and traveled with her to the International Space Station in 2007. But Sandra is equally thrilled to share her passion for sewing and textiles with earthbound students of all ages and abilities! Sandra blends classic teaching skills with spunky humor to present project oriented events that send participants home with fresh enthusiasm and inspiration. She has more than 15 years of experience sewing and teaching professionally with BERNINA machines, overlocks, and embroidery software and design. Sandra is also a certified BERNINA technician so she knows BERNINAs inside and out! Sandra eagerly shares her extensive knowledge and experience, providing expert and individualized instructions to help customers select the perfect BERNINA machine that will launch them into their next sewing orbit. Viking Epic owners have been asking for more detailed information on this fabulous machine and now it’s here. Boot camp will happen three times a year for owners who have completed their guide lessons. It will combine fun sewing, embroidering, and exploring your machine. Our first project will be an embroidered machine cover in your choice of fabrics. We will reinforce skills of embroidery placement, combining designs, changing thread colors in our designs, and sewing techniques for finishing our project. Fee $125.

This class will teach you how to change a tiled design and stitch it out on one piece of fabric with no seams. Jingle All the Way Block of the Month (52” x 64”) “Jingle All The Way” is a patchwork quilt of Christmas surprises with more than a dozen machine embroidered designs and new techniques like chenille trees and traditional quilt blocks. The multi-format embroidery CD includes all the applique designs in the quilt, plus 2 additional sizes for each design, and SVG files for electronic cutting! Miniature fringe wreaths and mylar lights adorn the row of houses and the vinyl applique makes the snow globes appear real. The festive flying geese strips are also pieced-in-the-hoop! Dimensional gift tags, ribbon, and button embellishments make the quilt even more merry! Make your own fabric choices and sew along with Susan. Are you ready for a new challenge using your Premier+ Ultra or Premier+ 2 Ultra software? Each month we will be taking a pattern designed for appliqué and turning it into an all-over embroidery design using different fills and motifs to make some areas look like appliquéd fabric. We will continue to explore adding quilting in the hoop for a completed project. There will also be an option of adding a detachable calendar holder at the bottom of each little square quilt. How fun would it be to hang up a new little quilt for each month of the year? Class registration is $50 plus the monthly $10 charge. Students must have completed their embroidery software guide lessons.

Matrix Block of the Month (108” x 108”)
This lovely new 10 month BOM program is adapted from the Mineral Matrix, a quilt designed by Toni Steere of a Wing and a Prayer Designs. The quilt is made up of 16 blocks (12 different blocks), sashing plus the 4 corner setting units. The kit offered uses 10 different batik fabrics in the shades of blue, purple, and green. Each month Jean and Millie will provide a thorough demonstration and helpful hints for your successful completion of this stunning quilt top. Kits will be available in the colors shown or you may select your own fabrics. The fabric kit for this Block of the Month program will include all the fabrics for the top, borders, and binding. This project makes a 108” x 108” king sized quilt. The registration fee is $50. Then each month the pattern, class and fabric fee is $40 or $10 per month for pattern and class only. You may elect to attend the classes or have the kits and pattern shipped automatically. What a great way to enhance your piecing skills over the next months and create this gorgeous quilt. Volunteers help count all the Breast Cancer Comfort Pillows made at our 2018 Sewathon during Memorial weekend. Over 200 comfort pillows were made with close to another 100 pillows in process.
February 18th: Tote Bags for at Risk Kindergarten Students in our inner city schools. March 18th: Wheel Chair Lap Quilts for Nursing Home in Boonville April 15th: Wheel Chair Lap Quilts for Nursing Home in Boonville May 24th & 25th: 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Sew-A-Thon We will be making Cancer Comfort Pillows for Breast Cancer Patients through the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. See photos (left). Please join us by helping for an hour or a day to give back to the community. No special skills are required, just a willingness to help. Appletree Quilting will provide the space, machines, fabric, sewing guidance, plus snacks and chocolate, of course! If you have any clean usable fabric to donate for our causes, we would greatly appreciate the donation. Bless you. Class & Special Event Policies Your class fee is due at registration. This guarantees your place in class. Class size is limited. So please register early. Sometimes a great class is cancelled because people wait to the last minute to register. Each class needs a minimum enrollment at least three days before it begins. Full refunds or store credits will be issued only if the class is cancelled by AQC due to bad weather or insufficient registration. Any class cancellation made by the student must be received 7 days before the class in order to receive a store credit less a $5 processing fee; no refunds will be given. Credits or refunds are not available on special events. You will receive a class supply list upon registration. Students will receive a 15% discount off all nonsale fabrics and notions for class supplies. Please inform the sales personnel that you are buying supplies for a class.
