ABLCC’s ROUNDTABLE with H.E.M. AL-TUWAIJRI, NOMINEE OF THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA FOR THE POST OF WTO DIRECTOR GENERAL 2020 On Tuesday, 25 August 2020 and on the occasion of the visit of H.E. Mr. Mohammad Al-Tuwaijri, Minister-ranked Advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia and Nominee for the position of WTO Director General, the Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce was entrusted with the organization of a roundtable meeting with a selected group of attendees. H.E. Al-Tuwaijri made a presentation on his forward-looking vision for the World Trade Organization (WTO), followed by a question and answer session. This rountable was a great opportunity for our attendees to reflect on the future of the WTO and to exchange ideas with each other. H.E. Mr. Al-Tuwaijri is Former Minister of Economy and Planning responsible of the Economic development agenda of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the interaction with international organizations and multilateral agencies and has a Long career in banking with the Saudi British Bank, J.P. Morgan and HSBC, eventually becoming the Group Managing Director, Deputy Chairman and CEO for Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. He has been a strong advocate of Saudi Vision 2030, worked tirelessly to bring it to life through the support of the Ministry of Economy, as well through the position occupied as a Board member of key organizations, institutions and companies in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Al-Tuwaijri, a former Saudi Air Force pilot, holds a master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Finance Honors from King Saud University (1997). The WTO is the leading international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. The goal is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible.
