Quite as exotic as his name, meaning “What makes it different”, this young stallion is nothing short of stunning! His breeders from Al Saqran Horse Stud may have chosen this name to refer to the vibration of a free spirit, of a leader, someone who is not easily impressed by others but likes to impress and has the ability to unlock extraordinary beauty and virtues both in the barns and in the ring.
A very short head, well-built muzzle, expressive eyes, and small, short, tipped ears are just a few amazing characteristics of this young stallion. But to be successful, you need to have a royal pedigree that serves
as a guarantee of what a horse may become in the future. Ageeb’s pedigree whose corners and crevices are just filled with super sires and aristocrat dams. He is no one else than a son of the living legend Fa El Rasheem and not anymore available to the public and out of CS Amay, one of the most exquisite Royal Colours’ daughters in Europe. FA El Rasheem needs no introduction to the world industry as he is just one of the most prolific reproducers of the 21st century. And his offspring are multi-awarded

champions horses throughout the globe. Through FA El Rasheem, SQ Ageeb is a grandson to the US breeding phenomenon Fa El Shawan (2005), therefore, a great-grandson to the legendary sire Marwan Al Shaqab (2000) (Gazal
Al Shaqab x Little Liza Fame out of Katahza). His dam, CS Amay (2008)
(Royal Colours x CS Opportunity) gifted SQ Ageeb with the prized strai-
ght Egyptian blood of Royal Colours, True Colours and Thee Desperado. His grand-dam CS Opportunity (2004)
(Laman HVP x CS Nairobi out of PH Obsession) brings in additional straight Egyptian blood, but also precious Polish, Russian and Crabbet bloodlines that are easy to detect when looking further back at his ancestors. SQ Ageeb’s pedigree possesses countless layers

of beauty, type, and quality bestowed upon him by every member of this illustrious lineage. As a Yearling, SQ Ageeb was named Bronze Champion Yearling Colt at the very strong B Int. Show in Bergamo in 2018. His first babies born in 2021 just made a great impact on European breeding and there have come more from wonderful mares this year. Just to mention a few: the filly Iyairah El Aziz (2021) (out of Iman by Ajman Moniscione), the colt Pharaon El Aziz (2021) (out of Psyntia OS by Psytadel), the filly SFA Adelina (2021) (out of TX Adele) bred and owned by Scrivo Angelo, Italy.
In 2022, Ageeb has sired about 20 exceptional foals already, all born and bred in Europe, for example, the filly Aleeza (out of TF Malaga by TF Romeo), the filly Arianna El Aziz (out of Angela E by QR Marc) and the colt Portofino El Aziz (out of Psyntia by Psytadel). In addition, he has been successfully used also in Austria, where the first foals-crop is expected with much trepidation. SQ Ageeb is blossoming, heightening in quality with each passing year and this is no hidden truth to many illustrious breeders as one of them beliving in him was Antonia Bautista and Philip Looyens from Shiodome

Dhari Al Majem is an accomplished Arabian horse breeder from Kuwait. In his career, he has proven to be an ambitious and successful breeder, having achieved numerous accolades in the industry. His love for horses and unwavering dedication to breeding excellence have earned him a respected position in the Arabian horse community. Al Majem has graciously agreed to share his insights and experiences with us. We are going to learn more about his journey in breeding these magnificent creatures... And the challenges he has faced along the way.
Hello, Dhari Al Majem. Thank you for being here with us today!
Can you tell us about your background and how you started the Arabna Stud breeding program?
My name is Dhari Al Majem. Since I was young, I have always been an animal lover. I started breeding with other
animals first. I went touring a farm in Kuwait one day. They had Arabian horses. Eventually I developed a passion for them and began reading and learning everything I could about them. I knew right away that I wanted to be an Arabian horse breeder. I started my breeding program in 2009!
What makes Arabian horses so unique compared to other breeds?
Arabian horses are different! The thing that can distinguish Arabian horses from others is not their heads, body and neck, it’s the veins, the skin and their movement!
How many mares do you currently have, and what is the breakdown of their ages and bloodlines?
I have 25 horses between mares, stallions, fillies and colts. I own Straight Egyptian breeds from Dahman, Saqlawi, Obeian and Hadban bloodlines.
AHM | 40
AHM | 41
How do you determine when it’s the right time to breed your mares?
During the season, avoiding the summer and strictly follow my veterinarian doctors’ recommendations and schedule.
How do you go about sourcing and selecting stallions?
What are the top three characteristics you’re looking for when evaluating a breeding stallion?
I tend to select stallions who look similar with similar attributes. Even if
they come from different pedigrees. I want to produce my own type. The top three features I look for when evaluating a breeding stallion are type, pedigree, and a horse with a feminine structure. I like a horse with light bones and moves!
What traits do you want to see in the foals?
As I mentioned before, Type. It sums up everything: head, neck, body and move.
AHM | 42
AHM | 43
What measures do you take to ensure the genetic diversity at Arabna Stud? How do you maintain the breed’s gene pool’s health?
To ensure genetic diversity at Arabna Stud, I maintain type consisten-
cy and avoid inbreeds.
One of your biggest challenges in breeding is…?
The most challenging thing I face at Arabna Stud is to create my type
and unique looks that can be differentiated from others.
What is your favourite part about being a breeder?
Besides enjoying my horses, the connections and friends I made from all over the world.
Do you believe it is essential for your Arabian horses to participate in morphology shows?
When selecting competitions to attend, what factors do you consider? What do you do to prepare your horses?
I participate in some horses at

shows. I choose them based on type and confidence to move. I have a trainer to keep my horses fully prepared and in good condition.
Could you advise all beginner breeders worldwide?
My advice to beginner breeders is to read about breeding and how to evaluate horses,
visit other breeding programs and never become a follower! Strive for uniqueness. Never be afraid of trying!
Thank you so much, Mr Al Majem. May Allah show you the right path and grant you success and happiness with your horses!

Title: Oil on Canvas. Collection of Dr Mohamed Al Duhaileb, Saudi Arabia.
AN INTERVIEW BY Sonia Smaldone
Who is Ali Alhawaj, exactly?
At first, I would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Ali Mohamed Faris Alhawaj. I am from Saudi Arabia. I am a Surgeon by profession. I am currently specializing in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the UK. I grew up in a family that loves Arabian horses. My father has been passionate about horse riding and Arabian horse breeding for over 40 years. He instilled a love of horses and riding in me from an incredibly young age. I am the eldest brother in my family. My story with horses began at a very young age. I spent a long time watching my father riding and caring for his Arabian horse. I even helped him while grooming and feeding until I established a strong relationship with this beautiful creature. I’ve ridden horses since I was eight years old. And the story of admiration for this wondrous being began from that time. I always considered the horse as a unique creature and companion.
Which came first, the Horses or the Art? What first attracted you to Arabian horses as an artistic subject?
Horses came first! And the story began when my father started the idea of horse breeding in 1998. He bought his first Arabian mare from a famous stud in Qatar. That mare was such a beauty! She had already won in shows before we bought her. This was the first trigger when I started learning and reading about Arabian horse aesthetics and features. So, I learned from a life experience, I would say.Not to forget to mention that I was also surrounded by many people who had an excellent sense and experience with Arabians. I used
to spend a lot of time with my parents and family, touring famous Arabian horse farms to see the beautiful horses and learn about them and their history. I attended many horse shows and read several books that helped me understand the Arabian horse. Then, I started my journey. In my mid-twenties, I travelled to other Gulf countries like Qatar and Kuwait to attend private and public farm visits. During those visits, I was more focused on understanding and learning the details and aesthetics of the Arabian horse. During those visits, I noticed that most horse breeders share a similar taste for art and poetry related to the Arabian horse. I also noticed that paintings and lithographs of Arabian horses were filling their majlis and books. It was a dream to paint the Arab horse growing in me.
How did it all start with painting? What have been your early artistic influences?
I saw my father painting Arabian horses since I was a child. I fell in love with oil paints even though I didn’t try them until the time came. Then being surrounded by many who had great experience about the Arabian horse made the journey easier. Such environment, reading and watching while enjoying the beauty in reality made me reach where I am today.
I did not know at the time I was watching closely all those masterpieces whether in books or in museums or majlis that my love for art is growing. Until I found myself holding the brush! I felt something inside me that wanted to express my love for the Arabian horse, and an urgent need to express what I feel and how I see it in my imagination.
AHM | 53
When and where have you first met an Arabian horse? Who was it?
My father’s Arabian horse was the first Arabian I encountered. He was a beautiful grey horse from the descendants of King Abdulaziz’s horses at the famous Dirab Stud in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This horse was distinguished by his sharp intelligence, strength and loyal character. I remember him as if he were right in front of me now. With his small and dished head and silky hair, he would always carry his tail high…
After that, my father bought an exceptional bay Arabian mare from Qatar. She was gorgeous! I still can’t forget her. After her, I was even more interested in this precious breed.
What pictorial techniques do you use to capture the horses’ personalities in your works?
My style is influenced more by the paintings of Orientalist artists because they are passionate about showing gestures and details. But also the Renaissance painters for their known “chiaroscuro” technique, which emphasizes the contrast between light and dark, using dramatic lighting to bring out the depth of subjects. The mixture of gesture, details and depth creates a mystery I use to capture the horses in a very realistic way.

How would you define your style in 5 words? I love the details, light, and shadows. I am influenced by photography and anatomy. Besides my profession as a surgeon, I also enjoy photography.
Mr Alhawaj, is there any particular painting/collection you want to comment on? What kind of

message does your art wish to convey to people? As for my paintings, I don’t have any particular comments. The comment should stay in the heart of the artist. Each of my creations means a lot to me. Each tells a story and an experience. These stories remain in my memory and imagination and give me the motivation and inspiration to strive for more!
AHM | 56
My paintings represent my personality, knowledge and understanding of the Arabian horse by emphasizing the details that attract me the most. The purpose of my art is to convey, at least in part, these messages to the viewers so they can dive deep into the world of Arabian horses. Horses are an endless love. The human-horse relationship has existed since ancient times and will always remain so over the centuries.
An artist’s work is always a reflection of his time. How did the pandemic affect your art? Did it inspire you in any way?
The lockdown had a significant impact on my art journey. I spent so many hours reading and learning on my own. I experienced several art mediums. During that time, I found out my love for Oil colours! However, I also discovered my fondness for the Charcoal medium.
Can you tell me what you are working on right now?
I am currently living in the UK for my subspecialized training. Experiencing different cultures and being in different environments inspire me to create! I am also keen to take advantage of every moment to educate myself more in the field of art and famous Arabian horse paintings.

minated by the facade and belfry of a baroque church wonder, protected by the sword of the statue of Saint-Michel and covered by a bright blue sky, this city has drawn Arabian horses for over three decades. A hands-on team led by Mrs Christianne and Mr Jean-Pierre Chazel put on a lovely 2023 edition. Amazing horses pranced around the ring, their handlers guiding them with precision and skill as spectators marvelled at their sleek muscles, flowing manes and powerful movement. The judges scrutinized every move, body part and overall conformation, selecting the best horses for the Awards Cere-
monies. Everyone enjoyed these magnificent creatures’ strength, grace, and beauty, and the Organizers breathed a sigh of relief at the end of the event. So, we want to thank them very much, along with all the appointed officials, Mr Jean-Claude Guibal, Mayor of Menton and President of the French Riviera Urban Community, and all those involved in the preparations for the event. Thank you for being such an incredibly kind host and allowing us to be part of one of the most exciting Arabian Horse events ever. We are already looking forward to next year’s edition. Inshallah!

It is no secret that Ewa Imielska Hebda from Poland is one of the most talented and beloved Arabian horse female photographers of our time, with a long list of spectacular achievements to her name. The stunning beauty and charisma of the Arabian horse have been captured by her lenses at the most important international shows for the best studs in the world. The opportunity to interview this immense artist for the Autumn edition 2023 was an absolute pleasure.
Who is Ewa Imielska Hebda, exactly?
I am an enthusiastic person, a traveller and, most of all, a horse photographer. I especially love Arabian horses. I have done my best to capture the unique beauty of these awe-inspiring creatures through my camera lens. I live in Lublin in the eastern Poland near Bialka and Janów State Studs.
How did you become a photographer? Why did you choose the Arabian Horse as your favourite subject to photograph?
I have been in love with horses since I remember. When I was a young girl, every wall of my room was full of horse posters. And I had this dream that one day I would work with them, ride them and take the best photos of them that capture their beauty. Already at this point, I felt that Arabian horses are unique and most beautiful. Later, in the following years, when I
got to know them as a racehorse training rider, I also understood that they have a wonderful character. In conclusion – they are beautiful, distinctly photogenic and wise, that’s why it’s easy for me to work with them.
Which Arabian horse has won your heart as a photographer? Why? And your favourite show?
There are so many beautiful and showy horses that I had the privilege to work with that it is impossible to choose only one. Many times when I took my camera and started taking photos. I was amazed to discover something unique and wonderful in each of them and catch a glimpse of their beauty and greatness with my lens. But one horse won my heart – Cefir - a dark-bay Arabian stallion with a lush mane from the Bialka State Stud. He was a great showman. And he had a strong fan club in Poland.
An interview by Sonia Smaldone
AHM | 87
What are your current commitments as a photographer? Are you working for any stud or show organization?
I am collaborating with Bialka State Stud, Klikowa Arabians Stud and some other private studs in Poland. In addition, I cover Arabian Horse Shows in Poland - like the All-Polish Arabian Horse Championships in Tarnów for PZHKA (Polish Arabian Horse Breeders Association) or Bialka Junior Spring Show. For years I also collaborated with the PolskieAraby.com portal and with Tutto Arabi Magazine, for whom I take photos at many Arabian horse shows around the globe.
Ewa, how would you describe your photography style in one word?
Charisma. It is what I love in Arabian horses. I love to catch it in my photos.
AHM | 88
AHM | 89
Which is your favourite lens? Why?
70-200 lens, because it’s most universal in horse photography.
When breeders call you to do a horse shooting, do you take any essential items besides a camera and lens?
Usually, this is a photographic reflector. I use professional studio equipment like lamps and smoke to add a touch of magic and artistic vision to my photos.
Ewa, what elements make the best picture stand out from the average?
A little bit of everything. If you have a beautiful, dynamic horse, someone who will present him well, someone who will assist, good lighting, and a special place to take the photo, then you have a chance for something unique. Photographers strive to capture the perfect moment and put all their efforts and hearts into doing it.
How do you educate yourself to take better pictures?
Keep practising, practising, and practising again. In addition, I enjoyed inspiring conversations with breeders and other photographers. As well as photographers from outside the Arabian horse industry.
AHM | 90
AHM | 91
Which tools do you use for post/processing?
I use Photoshop.
What is the least enjoyable part of being a photographer? And the most rewarding part?
Selecting the best photos from thousands made in one session is the least enjoyable part. It’s not an easy task. Interestingly, finding those few best photos is also the most rewarding part. Usually, milliseconds determine which photo is perfect.
Who are other photographers you regard as idols in this sector? (If any)
I respect and love the works of Glenn Jacobs, April Visel, Alessio Azzali, and Suzanne Sturgill.
What are some of the biggest lessons in the Art of Photography rotating around the Arabian horse you have learned along the way?
AHM | 92
AHM | 93
AHM | 94
Be patient and humble, and always be prepared for what the next day might bring because you never know where your fate might take you.
What are your hopes and dreams or future goals? Where do you see yourself, say, in five years?
Life can be tricky at times... and can surprise us in many different ways, so I like to keep my goals secret. Additionally, I hope to be able to travel the world and walk the path laid out by the beautiful Arabian horses’ hoofs…
Ewa, what is your message to the international breeders’ community?
Take care of your horses, cherish the time you spend with them, and be proud of your achievements because you are a vital part of this beautiful world of Arabian horses. Pursuing our passions and doing the things we love is the gateway to art, beauty, and happiness.

THE NEW-OLD SHOW IN TARNÓW
ALL-POLISH ARABIAN HORSE SHOW 2023
ECAHO B-NATIONAL SHOW
1-2 JULY - (POLAND)
WRITTEN BY Sonia Smaldone
TARNÓW. A SHORT HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Beyond Warsaw’s bustling streets and Krakow’s vibrant appeal lies a city that embodies the essence of Poland’s fascinating history and unwavering spirit. Tarnów, a hidden gem nestled in the south-eastern region of Poland, beckons adventurous souls to explore its cobblestone alleys, immerse themselves in its rich heritage and unearth the secrets concealed within its ancient walls. With every step, Tarnów quietly whispers tales of the past, inviting visitors to embark on an unforgettable journey through time. As history unfolds around you, the city’s medieval old town embraces you with Gothic cathedrals and ornate Renaissance palaces that paint an unparalleled portrait of the city’s heritage. Each weathered stones of Tarnów are a testament to its resilience and spirit through the ages. The city beating heart lies in its vibrant festivals that fill the street with infectious energy. Savoury Polish delicacies, handcrafted souvenirs, and lively folk dances fill the senses with a delightful tapestry of local culture.
ECAHO B-NATIONAL SHOW 2023
When Coronavirus spread globally in 2020, countries shut their borders, confinement took effect, large-scale events were halted or postponed, and Arabian horse shows were also impacted. Several important Arabian horse shows are missed from the calendar, including the All Nations Cup in Aachen, the Al Khalediah European Arabian Horse Festival in Nowe Wroka, Poland, and the All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship, traditionally held in Radom, Poland, at the Aeroclub airport. Polish Arabian horse shows were not incorporated in the ECAHO calendar in 2020, 2021, or 2022. When Radom was back on the list this year, it was hard for Polish breeders and owners to imagine that the show could return to the same place- after a three-year defection from the circuit. The All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship was back, Radom was relocated to Tarnów, and the championship was held in Klikowska Ostoja Polskich Koni. Most participants were very snooping about the new program and showground. But the newly elected Polish Arabian Horse Breeders Association (PAHBA), led by its audacious
AHM | 100
President Ma- teusz Leniewi- cz-Jaworski, tack- led the challenge like no other before. It worked like a charm, creating the new-old show in Tarnów with various activities: saddle classes, special performances, a gelding class, the breeders’ evening and even a charity auction. It did not happen by chance that Tarnów was chosen for the site because, in the 18th century, the Tarnów estate was owned by the Sanguszko magnate family. Tarnów estate remained in the family’s hands until World War II, and the heirs held onto it. Prince Paweł Sanguszko, the grandson of Prince Roman Władysław Hieronim Sanguszko (1803–1870), took the honorary patronage over the show. For him, the horses originating in the Arabian Peninsula were imported by Bogdan Ziętarski, and their contributions to the Polish Arabian horse’s breeding in Poland would be crucial. On 1-2 July 2023, over 100 purebred Arabian horses of the finest Polish Studs competed for top honours in the highly anticipated 2023 All-Polish
Ara
bian Horse Show,
gathering the best Arabian horse breeders, trainers and handlers in the na- tion. The guests were greeted by highlanders and Cracovians in traditional costumes, driving teams of Małopolska and Silesian horses, who brought the judges to the arena. At this 2023 edition, the international judging panel included Dr

Gianmarco Aragno (Italy), Mr Peter Birch (Denmark), Mrs Bérengére Fayt (France), Mr Robbie Den Hartog (Netherlands), Mrs Helen Hennekens-van Nes (Belgium), Mr Jonas Salzmann (Kuwait), and Mrs Michaela Weidner (Germany). The fair conduct of the competition was a prerogative of the following Disciplinary Commissioners: Mrs. Christine Keyser (Norway), Mr. Fahrang Fazeli (Iran), Dr. Paulina Malinowska (Poland), and Anna Nowak (Poland). In his role of Ringmaster: Mr Bart Beckers (Belgium). Results and Livestream by Arabian Essence (Italy). Official Speaker: Mr Mirosław Kołodziej. Music played by DJ Marcin Kalicki. Official Photographers: Mrs Ewa Imielska Hebda (Poland) and Mrs Sylwia Iłenda (Poland).

from which this horse was imported after his owner’s death. It was a very emotional moment…
The Best Head Award went to Parantella (Kahil Al Shaqab x Palanga) bred and owned by Michalów Stud.
THE CHARITY AUCTION: A BEAUTIFUL INITIATIVE
PAHBA’s new board had the brilliant idea to organize a charity auction at the Tarnów show, with all proceeds going to Friendly House Care and Educational Institution. The subject of the auction was the breedings of 3 incredible stallions: D Nayel, Emerald J, and D Mezyan, so congratulations and thanks must be extended to the auction winners and co-ordinators. In particular, the auction of the breeding of the World Champion Stallion D Mezyan aroused the most interest. Lubochnia Arabians proposed a bid of EUR 10,000 to end the auction. The breeding of D Nayel was auctioned by Michałów Stud, and that of Emerald J – by Teymour Razavifarahmand from Iran, and over 17,000 Euros were raised. Beautiful things are happening in Poland!
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, this year’s new-old show in Tarnów brought a lot of emotions. The guests noticed the very good organization of the event, but also the great atmosphere. With participants from across Poland showcasing their finest horses, the show captivated enthusiasts and spectators alike. The championship not only highlighted the exceptional breeding and training efforts of the Polish Arabian horse industry. It also celebrated the deep connection between humans and these majestic animals. The passion and dedication of the Organizers – the newly elected PAHBA - exhibitors, attendees, music and media staff altogether created an ambience that truly embodied the spirit of the Arabian horse. As the curtains closed on the 2023 All-Polish Arabian Horse Championship, it became evident that it was a loud success, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all those fortunate enough to witness it. As we were there as press and media partners, we want warmheartedly to
AHM | 104
thank the newly elected Polish Arabian Horse Association and their President Mateusz Leniewicz-Jaworski, who orchestrated this wonderful affair, beautifully connecting the past and the present through the stunning horses on display. To the Polish breeders, we commend your tireless endeavour in raising and nurturing these beautiful equines. Your commitment to preserving Arabian horses’ lineage, beauty and spirit shines through in every stride and very expressive gaze. Without your passion and dedication, this event would not have been possible. We extend our appreciation to the esteemed panel of judges whose discerning eye and expertise highlighted the exceptional qualities of each participating horse. You worked hard and did a great job elevating the competition toward new heights.
To the skilled handlers who presented the horses with confidence and poise, we applaud your bond with these extraordinary animals. Your harmonious partnership showcased the best in horsemanship, revealing the true potential hidden within the deep con-
nection between horse and handler. Last but certainly not least, we offer our heartfelt thanks to all those who helped make this show so special – the groomers, trainers, veterinarians, sponsors, and countless others who worked diligently behind the scenes. Your contributions, big and small, made a world of difference in ensuring the smooth operation of this lovely event in Poland.
I will now stop and leave it up to the pictures to convey some of the most unforgettable moments to you!

INTERVIEWED BY SONIA SMALDONE
Who is Giorgio Rossi, exactly?
I was born in Rome. I live halfway between Rome and my farm located on the southern border of Tuscany. My family originally comes from Venice, a city that has traded with the East for centuries. Over the past forty years, I have worked in the media indu stry with some of the main Italian (Berlusconi Group) and international (Fox Family, Disney) television companies. Later, I set up my own company with partners and we launched five national television channels which we sold to the Discovery group. Just a few months after my company’s sale, I bought a farm, “Podere delle Bellezze”. In Italian “Podere delle Bellezze” can be translated as “place that contains beautiful things”. It is a beautiful property
on a hill seven kilometres from the sea. We have an organic plantation of a particular variety of olive trees. The property was designed and built around a dry garden published in several specialized magazines.
The farm also has a greenhouse with orchids, a guest house, and Salukis and Arabian horses.
Where does your passion for Arabian horses spring from? Were your parents also passionate about Arabian horses?
My father rode horses, so I started riding when I was very young. With Arabian horses, it started randomly in 1985. I went to the Verona fair to buy an Anglo-Arab saddle... but then I saw an Arabian mare pass by with a filly...
AHM | 123
Tell us about your early steps in this industry. Who were your mentors (or the most important people for you) during those intense formative years?
The horse I saw passing through Verona belonged to a Swiss breeder, Hans Stucki, a Bafran breeder. A month later, for New Year’s Eve, I was with him in Switzerland, improperly dressed as an Italian from Rome, at minus 21 degrees, for six hours. I practically ended the day frozen and hopelessly infected by that incurable “ Arabitis “ disease. Stucki was my first “teacher” of Arabians. He had a fantastic photo archive. He also gave me the first books about Arabian horses. I remember a publication of El Zaahra made for Tibor von Pettko-Szandtner which I lost and never found again on the market.
When did you start your “Podere delle Bellezze” breeding program? Which bloodlines do you breed?
I started breeding many years before buying “Podere delle Bellezze”. I bought the first Arabian horse in 1985 and the first two mares in 1992. For many years, we have been using the prefix “Aleph” – in memory of the book by the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges – before the name of our foals. The first horses I bought had Spanish bloodlines. I was very attracted by crossing with Egyptian stallions. The first Egyptian stallion I used was Alidaar, who fascinated me with his regal attitude and presence. Since ten
years ago, I have also been breeding SE horses besides international Arabian horses.
What made you want to become a show judge for Arabian horses at some point? If you are primarily a good breeder, do you think you will also be a good judge?
It’s a question I often ask myself. I started judging Arabian horses because I love Arabian horses. As a judge, one can look at horses that would otherwise be difficult to see. It is also a way to confront myself with other views and share different experiences. As for the connection between breeder and judge, I believe that being a breeder is a fundamental step, essential to doing well as a judge. We all know the careful, obsessive, daily evaluation of a new foal. Evaluating a mare or choosing a stallion for her is a lengthy and thoughtful process that takes much of our time. Breeding is constant training for a judge as it is a fundamental daily exercise.
What specific preparation did you get to become a judge?
I think that my preparation comes mainly from the fact that I have been observing Arabian horses for forty years and that, in recent years, I have seen some of the most significant historical farms that have existed. Many of the famous horses you see in current genealogies I have seen “physically”. When I talk to young breeders or judges and mention that I saw Ali Jamal in the United States before he left for Brazil or that I saw Ansata Sinan as a newborn, I feel like I belong to another era. I am also a lover of books in general. I have a decent library of Arabian horse books and an extensive photo archive. As a breeder for many years, I have seen most of the merits and defects that an Arabian horse can have. And I have discussed them with numerous veterinarians.
AHM | 124
AHM | 125
AHM | 126
Giorgio, what sets Arabian horses apart from other breeds, in your opinion? How do you tackle the concepts of ‘beauty’ and ‘functional correctness’ in contemporary Arabian horses?
Every nation experiences different circumstances. And in any case, there are profound differences between the Middle East and Europe. The relationship between “beauty” and “functional correctness” is one of the problems that we all need to address urgently. It is no mystery that you also see numerous horses with serious functional problems in shows. Judges should have the courage to score these situations. It is trivial to remember, but horses with high scores and severe defects endanger the breed’s future. There is a risk in fixing some defects. We will have to wait years of good breeding and several generations to be able to get rid of them.
What particular skills are necessary to become an accountable judge in front of the public?
The main difficulty I have encountered judging in a show is related to the speed with which you must express your judgment and convert the judgment into a number. You must be very focused.
Which system of judging at shows do you prefer? Why?
I prefer 5 topics whereby each judge gives 1-20 points for type, head and neck, body, legs and movement. I also find it interesting that the head and neck can be judged as individual criteria. When this is the case, head and neck points must be averaged to give one score. The real issue is how these scores are used. The range of points in some topics is reduced to a couple of points. A horse
legs does not have good legs, however, with 16 points, the legs are correct. We should have the courage to use a greater arc of points. This decision should be discussed and shared at the organizational level. Otherwise, if a single judge – alone –used a broader arc of points, it would end up distorting all the ratings.
Which champion stallion is your favourite at the moment? How about your favourite mare?
More than talking about horses currently protagonists in the shows, I would like to recall two influential horses and how exciting it was to see them in person. The first horse was the mare Estopa. I first saw her at Om El Arab in Santa Ynez, California. Estopa was already well advanced in her years. I think she was around 25 years old. She was in a small paddock, standing still in the sun. The first impression was of a horse in some pain. Her legs showed signs
AHM | 127
of severe and widespread osteoarthritis. I asked if I could see her in the ring. Estopa entered, and the slightest noise was enough to turn her into a dragon that flew and blew. How much and more was she like a stallion but maintaining a proud femininity. What charisma! I still get goosebumps when I think about it. The other horse was the stallion Ansata Halim Shah. With my wife, we toured the Ansata farm and were hosted by Judith Forbis for the night. The following morning, after breakfast, we headed to the stallion barn. Judith took Halim Shah and led him to a large indoor arena. A fine mist covered the fields slightly as it was still very early in the morning. Once let loose, Halim Shah galloped to the farthest point. After reaching it, he began trotting towards us again slowly. The head was high, and the gaze fixed in our direction.
It was an almost mystical vision to see a splendid white Arabian stallion trotting through the fog and the first rays of the sun breaking through.
What do you think the future holds for the Arabian breed?
I see a complex future. There is almost exclusively space for top show horses today. The number of horses produced in Europe is probably too high without outlets for horses that aren’t suitable for showing. As a saddle horse, the Arabian is competing against other easier-to-manage breeds. A revamp is needed for the
AHM | 128
Arabian horse “product” through new marketing and promotion. We need to divulge – especially to young people – the charm, the magic, the beauty of this breed. Perhaps a joint effort would be necessary between several European and Middle Eastern countries since the problem will affect all breeders, sooner or later. In the field of promotion, Italy could make a substantial contribution by organizing events that would attract the attention of a wider audience than the usual show-goers. We could combine the history and beauty of our country, our tradition for taste, the beauty and the Arabian horse. There have been some initial attempts, but more energy and skills
are required.
Finally, would you like to leave a message for the readers of this interview?
It is crucial that we defend our passion for Arabian horses.
OUR VICTORY IS THE PRESERVATION AND SELECTION OF THESE EXTRAORDINARY CREATURES. IT IS NOT ABOUT WINNING A SHOW AT ALL COSTS…

VICHY: A BRIEF HISTORICAL SYNOPSIS
Vichy, a mesmerizing city tucked away in central France in the Allier Department, is not only a place of unparalleled beauty. It also holds a captivating historical significance. Steeped in rich heritage and charm, Vichy has a story that spans centuries. Vichy’s history can be traced back to Roman times when it served as a prominent thermal spa destination. However, it was during the 19th century that the city truly began to flourish. With the discovery of numerous mineral springs, Vichy transformed into a renowned spa town, attracting aristocrats, artists, and intellectuals from all over Europe. The Belle Époque era saw the construction of lavish hotels, opulent villas, and grand public spaces, which still radiate the elegance and grandeur of that golden age. This town of sophistication and grace soon caught the attention of Napoleon III, who established a summer residence here. Vichy became a preferred destination for European royalty and the political elite, serving as a glamorous backdrop for diplomacy and high society. One can still wander through the beautifully preserved parks and avenues, catching glimpses of Vichy’s vibrant past. However, it was during the tumultuous years of World War II that Vichy gained
prominence in history. Beyond its historical backdrop, Vichy remains a city of immense natural beauty. Situated on the banks of the Allier River, the town is encircled by lush greenery, offering a picturesque setting for strolls along the promenade. The abundance of thermal springs continues to draw visitors seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, with luxurious spas providing an oasis of tranquillity. The architectural wonders of Vichy testify to its storied past. There is a timeless charm to the city’s magnificent buildings, from the neoclassical Opera House to the lavish Celestine’s Spa Hotel. Visitors can sample the flavours of French cuisine at the vibrant farmer’s markets filled with local delicacies. In Vichy, at every step of the journey, you can appreciate the high quality of the environment, combining architecture with nature, history with modernity and bracing activities with relaxing breaks. However, the French town is more than just a place to look after yourself. We cannot ignore the virtues or the appeal of its mineral sources. Even more importantly, the beautiful historic city and the famous spas have all become protagonists of prestigious demonstrations born and developed around the Arabian Horse in France, 50 years in the making.

CONCLUSION
The Arabian Horse Festival in Vichy was truly electrifying this year, with the best breeders, owners, and enthusiasts around the globe making their way to Vichy. This celebration was a tribute to the Arabian horse’s beauty, versatility and charisma, which has always held a special place in French culture and history. For the 2023 Vichy Arabian Horse Festival, the Aca France Association - led by their hands-on Vice-President Eric Gear – was particularly proud to have presented three competitions of note: The French National Championships, the Straight Egyptian Event Europe and the International C- ECAHO
show. Besides the folks who were physically there, the other 56,000 people watched the Festival live on Arabian Essence. A true record! We at Arabian Horse Magazine wholeheartedly thank Aca France Association for choosing us as a media partner for the event, along with all the participants, handlers, sponsors and the public, who all contributed to making this event a successful weekend in a warm and cordial atmosphere by giving their all. We should never lose sight of this crucial factor at shows. A special thank you also goes to painter Ali Almimar. His wondrous artworks were displayed to promote the entire Vichy Arabian Horse Festival 2023. In conclusion, we are honoured to provide the ACA France Association with this report and photos in memory of two days surrounded by friends who just wanted to share their passion and love for Arabian horses!

Many wealthy aristocrats of the vast European worlds of the 18th and 19th centuries were attracted to the discovery of new far lands, including Egypt. Originally called Kemet, which means ‘the country of the black earth’, as a result of the silt on the Nile, Egypt represents significant moments in human history. A fascination that has not waned until today, always maintaining a cultural, diplomatic, and scientific component. For decades, the Egyptian people amassed priceless goods and built monuments honouring successive Pharaohs, considered living Gods on earth. Among the most often mentioned, powerful War Chief formed very young in the art of war to carry the soul of his father Seti 1st (Menmaâtrè), Ramses II accomplished the purifying bath and dressed in a white skirt and gold, with a bull’s tail attached to his belt, symbolizing royal power. The name of Qadesh is a date which marked its existence, sometimes evoked victory, but more really a lost battle against the Hittites, a humiliating defeat for the sovereign who signed a peace treaty
written in Babylonian, dreaming that Qadesh located in current Syria, directed by Mouwattali, returned to the Pharaoh living under Egyptian domination. For this war epic, Pharaoh Ramses II displayed an immense love for his horses from the stables of ‘Qantir’ located a hundred kilometres from Cairo, not far from his city Pi-Ramses. Recently, on the site of around 15,000 square meters, hoof prints were found in fifty-five stables constructed under Ramses II, consisting of five rows of stalls and an interior courtyard, all of which were aligned, which allowed a total horsepower capacity of nearly one thousand six hundred and fifty to be estimated. In particular, the Royal Stud Farm housed nearly four hundred horses with the name engraved on the wall, their grooms living on-site looking after splendid harnesses, war chariots, and parades.
Pi-Ramses was the city Ramses II built to his glory, containing the temples of Luxor, Karnak, and Abu Simbel - one of the world’s tallest rock structures, Pharaoh to whom he has attributed nearly two hundred wives and spawned innumerable offspring.
Nicknamed ‘Sésou’, Ramses II was the grea-

test Pharaoh of the golden age of his country, reigning for more than sixty-six years and considered the apogee of the power and glory of Egypt. His existence has created a legend that is still alive in all the books of Egyptian history in the most prestigious libraries around the globe. When Ramses II died at the age of 92, the entire people gathered along the Nile to view his remains placed on the royal boat of his son Merenptah. His remains were then buried in three sarcophagi containing the ‘Heqa’ sceptre, the ‘Nekhakha whip, and the hook of Osiris, one in wood inlaid with lapis lazuli stones and carnelian, and the other in solid gold. His tomb was inscribed ‘Ramses loved by Amon, the one “Re” chose, remained placed in the heart of the Valley of the Kings. Gold was worshipped in ancient Egypt as a
supernatural resource conferring immortality, and its brilliance and colour were symbolic of the divine sun, a central concept in Egyptian mythology, hence its impressive opulence. These days at La Villette cultural park in Paris, the World Traveling Exhibition: Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs, with a third of the objects never been outside Egypt, offers an incredible experience. Quranic passages cite Alikar The Wise as the name of Pharaoh from the 5th-century Aramaic book. Many scholars believe the Pharaohs belonged to an African (black) race that settled following the Nile from Ethiopia. Below is a list of five black Pharaohs from Egypt and Nubia: Chabaka – 713 – 705 AD / Chabaka – 705690 AD / Taharqa – 690-664 AD / Tanouetamani – 664 – 656 AD.

McCrea from the United States, Mr Ali Sharaawi from Egypt, Mr Sufian Taha from Palestine, Mrs Marianne Tengstedt from Denmark, and Mr Ahlan Preston from Australia - had difficulty choosing the winners, as each horse was a beauty in its own right at this edition 2023. The central responsibilities for guaranteeing that all attendees adhered to the established ECAHO rules and regulations - adjudicating any disputes between participants and imposing penalties or sanctions for any violations during the competition - was in the hands of Mr Peter Hegemann from

out to national organizations like the ACPKA ČR (Czech Association for Purebred Arabian Horses) and others who continue to choose us for sponsorship and promotion. The beautiful show in Prague went up to another gear this year with its escalation to an A-show category. This meant that more than in previous editions, it brought together even more top-quality Arabian horses from around the globe, more excitement and prestige to the event. Horse lovers and enthusiasts will continue to flock to it for years. Therefore, we are deeply grateful to the people of ACPKA ČR and their President, Jaroslav Lacina, for their invitation to join and support the event also this year. Sport and timeless elegance were the highlights of this unforgettable two-day competition
in the Czech Republic. Finally, we thank everyone who attended the show. As well as the sponsors, the participants, the judges, the DCs, the ringmaster, the handlers, the speakers, the streaming & media partners, the guests, the spectators, everyone working at Chuchle Arena and everyone watching at home. FASHION & HORSES WITH FABIO CALAMAI
EQUESTRIAN LUXURY CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES
For Italian stylist Fabio Calamai, founder of Vestrum Srl, riding is more than a sport, not just a performance. It is a way of life, a sense of belonging, a unique, empathetic relationship... it is skin to skin with a magnificent and proud animal. Training, competitions, and leisure activities require comfort, technicality, and elegance. Besides being a fashion designer, Fabio Calamai is also an excellent horseman. His first love has been the Arabian horse. He likes participating in dressage and jumping competitions. For this reason, I am absolutely delighted to have him as a special guest for our new Fashion & Horses column and to share with him the same passion for horses!
AHM | 208
A PROJECT BY Sonia Smaldone
Fabio Calamai is the Head Designer of Vestrum. With thirty-five years of experience as a fashion designer, I have never taken time away from my greatest passion: riding a horse every day. In 2016, I decided to transfer my experience to the equestrian world, founding Vestrum, an Italian company creating collections of equestrian clothing for men and women as well as accessories for horses and riders. The brand leitmotif is the refinement of fabrics and style, articles and accessories that speak and give shape to a passion that goes beyond the sporting context and characterizes a lifestyle. I know the needs of those who ride because they are mine too.
Where does your passion for horses spring from? Have you ever met an Arabian horse so far in life?
My passion for horses began when I was 18, approaching, in particular, Arabian horses. I visited several farms and even went to England to follow this great passion, attracted by the beauty of this breed. After that, I fell in love with English riding and started the sport of show jumping at an amateur level, which I still practice today.
Vestrum was founded in 2016 by combning my passion for horses with my interest in fashion design. Therefore, it was born from the ideas of those who experience first-hand the love for this animal, the commitment to training, the competition and the emotions of competition, but also contact with nature and moments of conviviality in the stables.
Who’s Fabio Calamai, exactly?
AHM | 209
What’s the story behind Vestrum Srl?
What are your beliefs, Mr Calamai?
In what ways are fashion, luxury and riding interconnected?
Fashion and luxury have always been part of the equestrian world. Vestrum is targeted to the attentive public, which gives importance to detail. Every detail is designed to combine elegance and performance. Each garment is designed to meet a specific need. We want to be the point of reference for all professionals looking for practicality, freedom of movement, and very high performance. We are by their side in training, competitions and during their free time with refined sportswear. Horse riding is not just a sport. It’s a state of mind, a way of life.
What are your goals? How do you achieve them?
We have set ourselves several long-term goals. We want to expand our market and reach clients who understand our product. The markets in which we are most present are Northern-Southern Europe, but Asia also has its relevance. We aim to penetrate the Middle East and the American market, where we already have a significant presence in the Far East. With optimal planning and strategies, we want to assert ourselves more and more. We focus on the research of raw materials, on design, striving to provide excellent interconnections between technology and fashion. We use colour proposals outside the standard to which the equestrian market is accustomed. We are less rigorous and increasingly innovative. We take risks on a technical and modelling level, wanting to cover that market segment that is currently little considered.
Can you tell us what items (technical and fashionable competition and training clothing) you offer?
AHM | 210
Our collections are created for men, women and horses. We accompany the rider in training, competition and during their free time. The Vestrum brand stands out for its tailored technical riding clothing; the comfort and maximum quality of the garments are guaranteed by the use of prestigious fabrics from the most important Italian producers of raw materials. Our proposal is characterized by racing jackets in different colours and models for every season. High-performing full or mid-grip trousers, breathable shirts, and technical training tops. Additionally, there is a sporty, lighter and minimalistic collection to ensure maximum comfort with the timeless carry-overs. As part of our summer collection, sportswear is experiencing strong growth in terms of proposals and colours.
within the equestrian clothing industry. Made in Italy and obsessive attention to detail set apart our collections today for horses and riders.
From its inception, Vestrum only produced accessories for equestrian people, such as bags, belts, foulards, and scarves with horse design elements. Later, we created a dedicated clothing collection because our clients asked us to complete their competition outfits...but also for training purposes. Our accessories have distinguished our brand and enabled us to establish ourselves
Quality is good attention in the creation of garments and the choice of raw materials. Attention to detail that makes the garment unique and special, working on the packaging and research. Material from the most important Italian raw materials manufacturers ensures the comfort and high quality of the garments. Similarly, the same quality standards, raw materials and exclusively Made in Italy labour are maintatimes developed by us. Our technical garments guarantee excellent performance in competition and training. Our polo shirts and competition shirts are all in antibacterial, anti-odour fabrics that protect against UV rays, dry quickly and are perfect without ironing. Our waterproof garments resist up to 10,000 mm of water columns and are breathable for maximum comfort even in training. The bi-elastic fabrics, of which most of our garments are made, guarantee exceptional movement because we use two types of elastic: elastane and spandex, to ensure double elasticity horizon-

tally and vertically. Our grip is eco-sustainable and resistant to wear. Each model is subjected to in-depth fit studies. So that it feels excellent in competition and training. The models are all designed with timeless elegance in mind. This is why in our collections, you will always find renewed models: the style remains forever, but innovation is what makes them truly immortal.
Do you also produce horse wear?
Men’s, wom0en’s, and accessories make up the three sections of our inventory. The latter combines men’s and horse accessory categories. Your horse will no longer be able to go without accessories like bonnets, saddle pads, horse bands, and blankets!
How is your brand received at an international level? Who are your best clients? What’s your promise to them?
In the equestrian we are recognized as a luxury brand. We respond to the most demanding clients’ needs who require increasingly exclusive garments that differ in research, innovation, colours and design. The details are not just de-
tails; but the result of a lifetime of experience in horseback riding and the love for a sport that is a lifestyle. We are Made in Italy, where quality has always been style and comfort. Where design is a combination of aesthetics and functionality. And for us, they are all watchwords.
How can potential clients contact you?
We now have a sales network of distributors and agents. We participate in various trade fairs; we are present on social media and have several permanent shops where the most relevant national and international competitions are held.

PHOTOS BY GIOVANNI CANFAILLA AN INTERVIEW BY SONIA SMALDONE
Sonia Deluca was born in 1981 in Ragusa, Sicily. She is the only member of her family involved in the Arabian horse industry. Her love for horses is visceral. Sonia studied Classical Studies in high school, which enhanced her dialectical and innate communication skills. But did not study veterinary medicine at university as she had intended. The young woman would attend equestrian courses to become an equestrian teacher while working as a regional guide for FiteTrec (Italian Equestrian Tourism Federation) and a local farmhouse. Meanwhile, she was assisting friends with finding the perfect Arabian. Her hobby soon would turn into her dream job: acting as an Arabian horse broker...
Who is Sonia Deluca, exactly?
I am a dreamer. I am quick at thinking. And I am eager to learn everything as soon as possible. Some people say that I can handle more than I can think. I have a natural dialectic to mask my flaws. I love oases of rest, peace, and warmth. Whenever I get an idea, I get to work right away. I sometimes act without considering the consequences of my actions, thus risking appearing amoral. Sometimes, I am touchy and easily irritable. I do not hold grudges. I can quickly adapt to places and people, but this is misunderstood as a weakness or lack of personality rather than a sincere adaptability to situations. It is my nature to be extremely sensitive also due to my living close to such extraordinary creatures as horses. I can make happy people around me, but I can also be their torment. It is rare for me to be taciturn and resigned.
The journey of my life is one of growth and discovery, sometimes a dive into the impossible, but it also teaches me the importance of dreaming, resulting in a long and intense growth process. I always try to make the most of this incredible energy that gives me the strength to change, dream, going beyond the ordinary. I believe that anyone can become a better person today than we were yesterday. No one can hide behind their defects with rhetoric or false self-defence: “That’s how I am, and I cannot change”. I am an incurable dreamer, and I know it. There is a world I fall into where everything is different, and anything is possible. Despite my age, I remind myself how important it is to cultivate dreams. Quite often, the only limits are set in our minds. Not all desires can be fulfilled, but pursuing them or trying to make them a reality is always positive.
Sonia, what does the Arabian horse means to you? How did this passion begin?
The Arabian horse is beautiful, elegant, and powerful. When I was only a child, I always wanted to learn about these amazing creatures of God. At a carnival party, I even dressed up as a horsewoman. When I was 8, I told my parents I wanted to enrol in a riding school. And so it happened. I haven’t been able to live without horses from that moment on. The only thing that makes me sad about the horse is that despite its noble and sensitive nature, humans tend to exploit it. The horse holds more value, importance, and admiration for me…
What made you decide to become a broker of Arabian horses? What led to the creation of your Sonia Arabian Agency?
AHM | 216
AHM | 217
AHM | 218
Around 18, my friends would ask me to help them buy or sell horses. The reason I was doing it was merely to help others. As I realized that the client always showed up at the right time, I made it my only job. I made myself available to the “world” as a horse broker. During the day, even at night, I devote myself to my clients looking for the perfect horse, always striving to meet their needs. And it fills my heart with joy to see clients satisfied with their purchase and receive compliments when they find out the horse is even more beautiful than in the pictures or videos I first sent them.
As a broker, what exactly are your responsibilities?
The role of a broker gives me many responsibilities. The first, I am responsible for the life of the horses, these beautiful creatures half angels and half children. Hear that they are fine even after the sale matters so much to me. Even when they have to leave for very long journeys, I pray that everything goes well. Second, having the certainty that the client has trusted me with the awareness that Sonia is a loyal, transparent, and professional broker and that everything she says with words is true. I am grateful for those who have entrusted their horses to me. I have so much joy with them. The best of me is always what I hope to give!
When you are entrusted with selling a horse, who continues to ride or train that horse?
I constantly train my horses under saddles. Most of them are Arabian horses show therefore amazing horses. However, it is the breeder who continues to deal with the management of the horse to be sold.
If the horse doesn’t sell immediately or go to competitions so potential buyers can see it, who pays for those expenses and when? Always the owner.
In many years of working in this industry, you will have encountered many owners/breeders and buyers of Arabian horses... Which was the most complex transaction, and why?
I have never had difficult situations, only excellent breeders and buyers. Thank God! The only thing that sometimes makes it “difficult” is the waiting times for the journey. However, you get past even that without any problems.
Have any of your recent sales been particularly successful? Do you want to talk about it? Every sale is a success to me. There is nothing in life I take for granted. As a result, every sale is blessed by the Lord. As a professional, I enjoy flying high. When it comes to human relationships, I prefer humility over pride. I sold mares of great value in Egypt, but I repeat: speaking
AHM | 219
only about them would diminish other mares’ worth. Every mare and stallion I sell comes with sacrifice and dedication from the breeders, everything acquires a higher value. It doesn’t matter if it costs one euro or one million.
Sonia, tell us about your beloved horse Hashim. What is his real name? How long ago did you first meet him? How long have you been taking care of him?
My beloved Arabian horse’s name is Fire Night Lpf, a grandson of the legendary sire Gazal Al Shaqab. But I’ve always called him Hashim. Our eyes first crossed in 2011. There were other Arabian foals with him, but his gaze struck me...and I said to my father and grandfather: “he’s the one I want”. I didn’t care if he was the most beautiful or not. He had to be mine. I have taken care of Hashim since he was five months old. Now he is eleven, close to twelve. Woe betides anyone who touches him! I am very jealous. When Hashim was only a foal, he would sleep with his
head on my lap. We have been through it all! I’ve been disheartened many times, but the love I have for him helped me get through every difficult moment. I owe so much to his presence in my life. Hashim has always been there when I felt alone. I only wish he grows old with me. I don’t expect anything from him. It only matters to me that he is happy and healthy.
You have a beautiful 5-year-old girl named Elodie. Would you like her to follow in your footsteps in this field?
My daughter Elodie means the world to me, as every daughter or son is to their mother. When she was only nine months old, I saddled her with a beautiful Haflinger, a mother horse. I gave her a double pony last summer. It was as if she oozed joy from every pore. But, it’s up to her to decide which sport she prefers. While Elodie has tried many activities, horse riding is her favourite… In a way, I’m happy because she would follow in my footsteps. However, I also know horse riding’s negative aspects and

risks. I would prefer that she chose something else. Before anything, I want my daughter to respect every living thing on earth. I would like her to see the horse without expecting anything from him, regardless of what she chooses. Treat him as you would any other pet.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years, Sonia? Still with Arabian horses? Or is there something else you would like to experience in the future?
My life wouldn’t be the same without horses, so in ten years, I will always be with them. Always with Arabian horses, though. By that time, I hope I will have managed to have more Arabian horses and to see them run happily in a pasture of my own.

Thank you Arabian Horse Magazine for this opportunity to introduce myself and my agency to your wonderful readership. The interview is something I did not expect, so I am deeply grateful.
