BA Year 3 Semester 2: Comprehensive Design Project Future of Work The brief for this project challenged us to design an office space that would be relevent for the future of the City. The Building Site is Located in the Heart of Liverpool as seen from the yellow area on the location Plan. The site is close to some essential features within the city (red areas) Such as Moorefields Station to the North East, more offices in Liverpool Including Exchange Flags which was once one of the most renowned offices in the UK to the West. There is also the link to the Waterfront and The Three Graces to the West and a route through to Liverpool One to the South. Finally there is Lime Street Station, a major national station only a 10 - 15 minute walk away to the East.

Site Plan and Exploded Isometric
One of the main parts of my project I wanted to consider was the link to the nearby Moorfields Station and the walking routes close by and what these routes create links too. I looked into the presentable facades on the site to decide where to place my building. To further develop my form, I used a grid system derived from the local courtyards and alleys to develop larger and smaller grid spaces. I thought of these spaces like Louis Kahn and decided to think of them as served and servant spaces, with the larger spaces acting as served spaces, referring to spaces that are actively used in this case mostly the office spaces. The Servant spaces are thought of as those that serve the utilised, these being staircases, lift shafts and more.

Visuals of Interior Spaces, Roof Garden, Alley Space, Winter Garden and view from Moorefields Station
My interpretation of the brief inspired me to design a space that was an attractive area, adding benefits for people to want to work in the city and bringing more business to the city. I have achieved this through the creation of a myriad of green spaces. The project being named the Future of Work, made me consider the changes involved in the future. One of these changes perhaps being the increased use of public transport, so as mentioned I wanted to create a link to Moorefields Station and the bottom right image shows the view from the station into the site.

BA Year 3 Semester 1: Weather of Not
The aim for this project was to design a weather station for climate change, that could work with data and also present data to the public. My aim with this project was to create a building that sits within the landscape and keeps the natural look and form of the area as much as possible, as the landscape has a close relationship with nature. Two key points being focused on in the building is lighting and Views. The building has a main facade orientation of South-West and the building curves around from the South to the West. This allows the building to have views towards Hebden Bridge (West) and the Stoodly Pike Monument on the hill far away to the South-West.

The curving South West facade also allows lots of natural daylight into the building, but as the building has a deep floor plan and is placed into one of the hills on the site more sunlight was needed by needs of another more unpopular format. The idea I had for the building to access more light was for the three light wells to be placed within the hill to be able to provide indirect light to the deeper parts of the ground floor plan. These light wells also allow the building to have a natural stack ventilation system. One way the building mimics/ fits into its landscape is by the use of louvers that curve around the building and slope down the building. These louvers whilst blocking more summer sunlight from the building also allow the building to be more in touch with its surroundings as they mimic the previous shape of the hill that has been cut away for the building to sit within.

BA Year 2 Semester 2: Experimental Project Library of the Future My design concept was to create a building that acts as an extension to the public space, a place where people can interact to exchange ideas or just relax and talk, but also a place for reading and discovering new information. The site I used was the Everton Park site I decided to use that site as the plan for my design was to create an extension to the public space and a park acts as a perfect public space for this. In adittion to this, my idea was to create a relaxing space and a space where people can interact and the position of the park away from the city centre acts as a quiet relaxing space for these activities and the view also helps towards this. Furthermore, the site is surrounded by housing districts which means there will be many people to benefit from the building. The Library has 4 principal ideas for areas that make up the building, the first being a reading space that is signified in blue. There are also Activity spaces these are signified in red. The 3rd space is a space for entrances and circulation, which is signified in yellow. Finally there is also a Gathering Space, which makes up the centre. 16

The site heavily influenced the buildings form. The views have been emphasized by rectangular extrusions stemming from the centre. The building has 2 different types of entrances a main route to enter the building or pass through the building is emphasized by cuts into the building at the East and the West. There are also entrances to the North and South, these are less obvious. These entrances also have a staircase on both sides to access the roof creating a connection to the urban space. The rest of the form is alligned to create a circular shape which responds to the shape of the site due to the building sitting on a circular shaped hill with a surrounding circular road.

BA Year 2 Semester 1: Urban Design Project
My design for the area I have chosen to focus on includes two sunken spaces with buildings that supply services and retail to the spaces at the lowered level, The space is also a biodiverse area at the lower levels and at ground level where greenary is clearly seen allowing people to escape from the city life into a more peacful area that can be closely related to a more rural area. The area I decided to focus upon is the West area of the fabric district.

BA Year 1 Semester 2: A Place for Crafting The aim of this project was to create a building that housed a workspace and a living space. My concept was to create a space that worked with the trees on the site to keep as many of the trees as possible.

BA Year 1 Semester 1: Archifilm The Archifilm project involved creating a video showing experiences within a model. The model had to be one of three categories I chose to create a walkthrough playhouse. The photos seen show two areas within the building with different lighting experiences. Including a lighting grating and a hypostyle hall area.
