Curriculum Vitae
Birkenhead School of Art Located within the Hamilton Square conservation area in Birkenhead, the new School of Art proposal is surrounded by, and abuts a collection of Georgian buildings, thus reinstating an organised street pattern around the central square. The formal street elevation of the gallery-cumstudio block, in which both staff and students can work, responds to the local railway station opposite, whilst the more playful entrance face, showing the ground floor workshops, focusses on common building features in and around the Merseyside area, resulting in a fun but contextual design.

Summer Pavilions The proposal of three pavilions, each serving a different purpose, sit arranged in order of size as temporary monuments which inform & educate visitors about the flooding issues of Hebden Bridge. The shapes of these structures make reference to the surrounding context. Two of the three are elevated to provide views of the area, and utilise the sun’s energy to provide heat & light.

Street Edge The proposal of a building or sculpture as a place of socialising should sit on an ‘edge’. This colourful bus shelter relates directly to its context, with its shapes derived from the terrace frontage behind. A transparent glass grid allows the fun, contextual forms in front to stand out.
