Welcome to Hereford Racecourse for an afternoon of jumps racing, kindly sponsored by Star Sports.
I would to like to take the opportunity to send our thoughts from all at the racecourse to the family and friends of jockey Michael O’Sullivan, who tragically passed away on Sunday 16th February following a fall at Thurles earlier in the month. We were lucky to be graced by Michael’s natural talent here on the 12th November when he won aboard Midnight Exit. At this difficult time we also extend our best wishes to all of his colleagues in the weighing room and beyond.
Following the rescheduling of today’s planned Countryside Family entertainment to our Herefordshire Raceday on Saturday 8th March, we thank everyone who has come along to support today and look forward to also seeing you again in two weeks’ time. There will be plenty for everyone to enjoy with family entertainment including the dog and sheep herding demo, Mini Kids Land Rover driving course, inflatables, face painting, and even a rodeo bull! Plus for the adults why not indulge in a refreshing pint of Westons Cider as we watch jockeys compete in the famous Hereford Welly Wanging competition in the parade ring!
All of our 2025 fixtures are now online and available to purchase tickets for but don’t delay as both our Snaffles restaurant and Premier Viewing are selling fast With fixtures to look forward to including Herefordshire Raceday on Saturday 8th March, and our new Ladies Evening to finish the season on Friday 9th May with live music on the lawns after racing
Looking to experience the thrill of racehorse ownership? Then look no further than our Hereford Racing Club which includes an annual ARC membership (to 500+ fixtures) plus a share in the Venetia Williams’ trained horse Johnny Boy, a 6yo gelding by Kapgarde, who has recently received an official rating of 102. It really presents fantastic value for money at £310! Further annual member perks include 20% off food and drink at their home course, plus guest passes and racecard vouchers to use throughout the year Visit our website for more information or to join up right away
Enjoy your day with us today and we will see you again on Saturday 8th March, Herefordshire Raceday, which promises to be a fun filled day for all the family, and remember under 18’s go free to all of our fixtures!
Best wishes
Camilla Esling, General Manager

Star Ratings Explained
Selected to win the race
Good chance of being placed By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
Unlikely to win but not totally without hope
Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating for novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED You must be 18 or over to place a bet
You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet
If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

SULLIVAN BAY has been in great heart since joining current connections, underlined by a narrow defeat when last seen over hurdles, having looked the winner for a long way. He’s still feasibly treated and could take advantage of his lowly handicap mark at the expense of Seahouses who is the only one of these to have won a hurdles race, while it will be interesting to see if any support comes for Lelant, whose mark has plummeted
