WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM

INFORMATION Good afternoon and welcome to Lingfield Park Resort, where today we host the second meeting of Racing League 2022. We would like to take this opportunity of thanking our loyal sponsors, William Hill, for their continued support in this exciting initiative. Racing League 2022 kicked off a week ago at our sister Doncaster Racecourse. It consists of seven regional teams competing over six consecutive Thursday evenings at ARC racecourses around the country. Each team will compete for valuable points in a bid to boost them up the league table with the team holding the highest number of points after the final race, becoming the Racing League 2022 Champions. The teams include Ireland, Scotland, Yorkshire, The North, The East, Wales & The West and London and the South. With four winners at Doncaster on the opening night, including a treble for jockey Sean Levey, London and The South set the early pace with 174 points, well clear of closest challengers Yorkshire (128 points). While we clearly remain impartial, London & The South are flying the flag for the Lingfield region by topping the leader board so far! Who will you be backing today? As well as all the excitement on the track, we have some complimentary children’s entertainment on course with our facepainter and bubbleologist. Our musical entertainment is being provided by our friends at JustVibez so make sure you soak up some atmosphere with them in the Courtyard area. We are also delighted to welcome back our racing charity partners, Racing2School, Careers in Racing and Take The Reins. All three organisations are passionate about opening racing up to a broader audience – both as participants and spectators and the innovative Racing League is a perfect platform to do this. Take The Reins is today announcing would-be jockey Harry Enright as its new Ambassador; Harry, who was born without a left hand, is hoping to make history by becoming the first jockey to ride professionally with a prosthetic limb. Please go and meet Harry and his supporters today and listen to his inspiring story. You can even ‘race’ against Harry on the Racing2School equicizers (mechanical horses) as you visit the stands by the Parade Ring. We hope to welcome you back to Lingfield soon to one of our other exciting meetings. We have our Family Fun Day on Monday 15th August with an array of complimentary entertainment for our younger racing fans, as well as our 80’s racenight on Saturday August 20th. This meeting will see us welcome back our friends from the Royal British Legion who will be bringing a number of Falklands Veterans and military memorabilia to mark 40 Years since the Falklands conflict. Do come and support this amazing charity who help so many serving and ex-service men and women. We hope you have an enjoyable evening and we looking forward to welcoming you back soon. Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HIIII Can be given little or no chance. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

WHERE TO BET There are a variety of places to bet at the course; The Tote has selling points throughout the racecourse - easily identified by the Tote Betting or totepool signs. The bookmakers are located in front of the grandstand in the ‘Betting Ring’. The bookmakers display their odds for each race and compete to offer the best price to customers. These are fixed price bets and the amount of your winnings will be printed on your betting slip. Search around to get the best price for your selection. Mimimum Stakes The Tote has a minimum bet of £2. The bookmakers vary but if they have a minimum it will be shown on the boards displaying their odds. If in doubt – just ask.

When played, the Joker will double the points won by the two horses representing a team in a given race. The manager will announce his intention to play a Joker in the Paddock, directly before the selected race. This will be done by placing a Joker token alongside the team name on the scoreboard in the Paddock.

LONGEST TRAVELLER: GLOBAL HUMOR trained by J Goldie, Glasgow, 445 miles. RACE SUMMARY

A competitive opener, with preference for TADREEB to return to form back at this C&D. Having recorded back-to-back victories here earlier in the year, the 4-y-o has been below that level on the turf since but can leave those efforts behind him on the polytrack. Street Kid showed improved form on the all-weather when last seen and is feared most, ahead of the consistent Brunel Charm.

NEANDRA drew clear in the manner of one going places over C&D 19 days ago, so she’s expected to defy an 8lb rise and follow up. Storm Castle looks another 3-y-o to keep on the right side of now going handicapping from a potentially lenient mark, while the returning Purple Ribbon is also unexposed and completes the shortlist. 1-2-3: 1.NEANDRA (GER) 2.STORM CASTLE 3.PURPLE RIBBON KEY colours

One of the night’s more competitive events, with top-weight DIAMOND BAY perhaps the most solid contender in a race where cases can be made for many.
