WELCOME & MEET THE TEAM
INFORMATION Good afternoon and welcome to Lingfield Park Resort, where today is our first National Hunt Fixture of the season. We have a day of great racing ahead featuring the Terry Cornish Handicap Chase, The Chris Young Memorial National Hunt EBF Novices Hurdle and the Sharon Knapp Memorial Cup Handicap Hurdle, which was won last year by Khan trained by Milton Harris, ridden by Paddy Brennan. This year we have Top Ville Ben competing in this race, who won at our Winter Million fixture earlier in the year. Looking ahead, we have a host of exciting features coming up including the celebrated BetUK Churchill & Golden Rose Stakes on November 12th. Don’t forget we have our Winter Million fixture not too far away, 3 days of fantastic racing on the 20th, 21st & 22nd January 2023. You can get tickets via our website www.lingfieldpark.co.uk/whatson. We hope you have a great day and we hope to see you soon. Russell Bowes General Manager

Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: HHHHH Selected to win the race. HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims.
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
WHERE TO BET There are a variety of places to bet at the course; The Tote has selling points throughout the racecourse - easily identified by the Tote Betting or totepool signs. The bookmakers are located in front of the grandstand in the ‘Betting Ring’. The bookmakers display their odds for each race and compete to offer the best price to customers. These are fixed price bets and the amount of your winnings will be printed on your betting slip. Search around to get the best price for your selection. Mimimum Stakes The Tote has a minimum bet of £2. The bookmakers vary but if they have a minimum it will be shown on the boards displaying their odds. If in doubt – just ask.

HIGHWAY ONE O THREE ended last season on the up over hurdles, rattling off a quick-fire hat-trick at Plumpton when last seen in April. He rates the type to make his mark over larger obstacles, and with his yard continuing in fine form, he earns the vote to come out on top. Art of Illusion impressed with his jumping when scoring on his chase bow at Plumpton 3 weeks ago and rates a lead threat, ahead of Gallic George and Hipop des Ongrais.

There should be better to come from OZZIE MAN, who put in a power-packed finish when overhauling a race-fit rival close home on his chase debut at Plumpton where he was returning from a 12-month absence. He’s been nudged up just 2lb for that and promises to be suited by this stiffer test. Coronado Joe, who got the better of the selection in a bumper early last year, may emerge as the main danger if taking to fences at the first attempt, while No Hubs No Hoobs is also worth a second look.
