BPL has three great events coming up for children and families! First is our Harvest Party for students in grades K-5 on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 6:30-7:30. Students will enjoy several harvestthemed carnival games, make a simple craft, and enjoy a hands-on snack! Please come dressed in your best harvest attire (bib overalls, flannel shirts, boots, etc.) for a chance to win our Harvest Costume Contest. This is not a Halloween Party, simply great fall-inspired fun! Registrations are not required for this fun-filled evening. Next, we are bringing back our LeGO CHristmas viLLaGe on Friday, Nov. 26, from 10-4, and Saturday, Nov. 27, from 10-1. We have several Christmas sets to build, with varying levels of expertise needed. Building is open to anyone that loves Legos (parents included!). Light snacks will be served. Registrations are not required. Once the sets are completed, they will go in our display case through the month of December. Children up to 12 years old are encouraged to visit the library to find the “Imposter in the Village” each week in December. A different Lego character that does not belong in our winter scene will appear each week. Spot the imposter, and fill out a ticket for a chance to win a Lego set at the end of the month. Finally, we have a brand new event on December 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. Bring your children and grandchildren to our first “Dear santa” OPen HOuse. Participants will have the opportunity to write a letter to Santa himself, decorate a Christmas cookie, enjoy hot chocolate, and listen to a story. The first 10 families to register and attend will receive a copy of the book Santa Post. Several other holiday books will be given out as door prizes. Kick off the Christmas Season with the ultimate gift… reading! Registrations are required for this event. Please call the library at 937-448-2612 or stop by to sign up. This event is geared for children up to Grade 5. As always, please call the library for more information on any of our events. We hope to see you soon!

EverHeart Hospice to Host Luminaria Event for the Community EverHeart Hospice will be holding their second annual “A Time of Remembrance – Luminaria Memorial Drive-Thru” on Thursday, Dec. 9, 6-8 p.m., at their Greenville office location. Last year marked the beginning of this new tradition, providing an opportunity for the community to come together and honor lost loved ones. Sarah DePoy, Bereavement Coordinator at EverHeart Hospice, shared, “The 2020 Luminaria Memorial Drive-Thru was unlike any other memorial event that EverHeart Hospice has hosted. Not only did we want to honor those lives lost that received our services, but also those lives lost due to COVID-19. To see the parking lot full of luminarias, the candlelight flickering in the evening night representing so many lives lost, was breathtaking.” Over 60 vehicles were able to travel along the beautifully lit path, taking in a peaceful moment of reflection to remember someone special to them. This is a free event, open to the public, and they hope that even more families get the opportunity to enjoy this special night. Personalized luminarias displaying loved one’s names are available by donation and can be purchased through their website at www.everhearthospice.org or by calling 800-417-7535 – Option 6. The deadline to reserve a luminaria is November 29. All proceeds will benefit EverHeart’s bereavement program, allowing them to continue offering bereavement support and outreach to the communities they serve.
