The Littman-Thomas Agency, Inc., with roots in Darke County dating back to 1860, has opened a new office in Troy – in the historic downtown district – located at 15 S. Cherry St. Owners Dave Keiser, Ben and Sue Studabaker, and Gavin Glasscoe are excited to expand their business operations to include Troy and the surrounding communities. Previously known as The Francis Agency, Inc., Littman-Thomas had purchased the existing insurance agency from Bill Francis in April of this year. Bill’s father had started the insurance agency in Troy back in 1938. The new Troy office will make the third location for the Littman-Thomas Agency, with the main office located at 515 E. Main St. in Greenville. They are no strangers to Miami County, as the Littman-Thomas Agency had purchased the Bradford Insurance Agency/Sargent & Assoc. from Dennis Sargent back in 2005. The Bradford office is located at 110 E. Main St. A ribbon-cutting was held Monday, Sept. 20, at the S. Cherry St. location, hosted by the Troy Chamber of Commerce. An Open House followed, as members of the Chamber, representatives from the City of Troy, clients, and business associates toured the historic location and learned more about the wide range of insurance products the agency has to offer for individuals, farmers, and businesses in the area.

A Closer Look At The Autumnal Equinox Each September, the Northern Hemisphere experiences the autumnal equinox, which marks the official beginning of fall. In the Southern Hemisphere, spring is arriving at this time. Each year there are two equinoxes, the vernal and the autumnal (March and September, respectively). Shortly after the autumnal equinox, days begin getting shorter and the nights get longer. The autumnal equinox always occurs between September 21 and September 24. In 2021, the autumnal equinox takes place on September 22. The word equinox is from the Latin “aequi,” meaning “equal,” and “nox” or “night.” That means that during each equinox the hours of day and night are nearly equal in length across the planet. During the equinox, the part of the Earth that is closest to the sun is the equator, explains History.com. That helps make night and day equal in length. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the Autumnal Equinox on September 22, 2021, arrives at 3:21 p.m. EDT, 2:21 p.m. CDT, 1:21 p.m. MDT, and 12:21 p.m. PDT.
Decorate A Festive Pie For Halloween Party Fun
You’ll invite 20,000+ to your auction or garage sale when you advertise it in our classified pages.
Candy may be a mainstay of Halloween celebrations, but other desserts also can make festivities even more enjoyable — especially when those desserts coordinate with the Halloween theme. The word “chibi” means “short and chubby” in Japanese, but it also has expanded to refer to characters with especially cute, babylike features. The chibi style lends itself well to jack-o’-lantern designs, which many people find cute, short and chubby. Making a jack-o’-lantern themed pie is even easier when pumpkin — which is an especially popular flavor this time of year — is the pie of choice. Find your favorite pumpkin pie recipe or purchase a store-made one and some refrigerated pie dough to add some Halloween flair with this instructional guide for “Chibi Pumpkin Pie” courtesy of “Pies are Awesome: The Definitive Pie Art Book, Step-By-Step Designs for Every Occasion” (Rock Point) by Jessica Leigh Clark-Boijin.
Chibi Pumpkin Pie Ingredients: Egg wash (or almond milk if making a vegan pie) Vanilla extract Brown, black, green and pink gel food color Opaque white icing color Orange and yellow sanding sugar
Supplies: Pie pan of your choice Baking sheet Parchment paper Food-safe precision knife Pastry brush
