Milton-Union Senior Citizens And Community Club Invitation

Covington Council Approves Schoolhouse Park Plan Approximately 20 residents attended the Village Council meeting on August 16. Seven people stated their feelings about the curren Schoolhouse Park Plan, commenting that the park was too large, don’t close the streets, how will the park be maintained, and pleading with the Council to listen to residents’ concerns and vote NO on the current Schoolhouse Park Plan.

The Village Administrator stated that “voting yes” gives the Village the green light to go forward. I asked the Village Administrator if all future plans would involve closing streets and he said regardless of what grants we receive, Grant and Maple Sts. will be closed. By approving the proposed park plan Council is approving the closing of these streets.

Emergency Resolution 30-21, Schoolhouse Park Plan, was approved by Council 5-1 and the plan will move forward.

Seniors, are you wanting to get out of the house and make new friends? The Milton-Union Senior Citizens & Community Club invites you to come visit, play cards, or maybe work a puzzle.

The building is clean and has an air purifier on all furnaces to continually clean and circulate air. If you’re not feeling well, please stay home until another time to keep everyone safe.

This month’s dates are Tuesdays, Sept. 7, 14, 21, and 28. Come at 9:30 a.m. and enjoy coffee and donuts!

BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL RETURNS TO BRADFORD The Bradford Public Library is pleased to announce the return of our popular Bluegrass Festival on Sunday, Sept. 12. After cancelling in 2020 and the uncertainty of offering a summer concert, we are excited to bring back this event for our community!

This year’s festival will be held in Iddings Park, located on E. Main St., from 3-7 p.m. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Off-street parking is available at the library, 138 E. Main St., and at The Depot, 203 E. Main St. In order to keep all in attendance healthy we will not have an indoor back-up facility in case of inclement weather. If a storm or rain are in the forecast, the event will be canceled. Please watch our Facebook page or check on our webpage at www.bradfordpubliclibrary.org for updates closer to the date.

Food will be available to purchase at TB’s Place, 118 E. Main.

A 50/50 Raffle will be held to help the library with expenses.

This will be our 21st Bluegrass Festival. This event was started as a way to say Thank You to our wonderful patrons and community. We are happy to continue the tradition for the same reason. We hope you will plan to join us in Iddings Park for some amazing entertainment!

The library is pleased to bring back our popular Preschool story hour with candice in person. Storyhour is offered Tuesdays from 11 a.m. - noon and is for preschoolers age 3-5.

Our first six-week session will start September 14 and will run until October 19. This first six weeks will be all about getting to know your child better and learning about what makes them special. Classes are offered in six-week themed sessions, followed by a break week.

Our Storyhour includes games, songs, crafts, large muscle activities, and fine motor skill building, along with stories to help get your preschooler ready for kindergarten.

Storyhour is led by Candice Skinner. She has a degree in Early Childhood Development and has several years of experience at the library as our preschool Storyhour facilitator.

Registrations are required at the beginning of each six-week session and space is limited. Please call or stop by to sign up your child today. Please call if you have questions at 937-448-2612.
