Covered Wagon Farm Market will be again be open for business Tuesday, March 1, after enjoying their annual break. Customers will be pleasantly surprised to find the store has expanded from just 2,400 square feet to 8,000 square feet. This expansion will provide a more enjoyable shopping experience, a larger array of products, and faster service. Their loyal customers have long appreciated the fresh produce grown in Covered Wagon’s greenhouse, as well as the mouth-watering treats from their bakery and deli departments. The additional square footage added over the past couple of months now makes it possible to include a comfortable area for sit-down dining, a Fudge and Creamery section where delicious homemade ice cream and fudge will satisfy everyone’s cravings, a larger bakery area, and a Candy Shack, Spice Rack, and Nut Hut. Their deli department has added additional slicers to speed the process in selecting meats and cheeses. Be sure to check out their expanded canned goods section, where you’ll find they’ve added their own label on quality items. New additions to the family business are refrigerated and frozen food items. With today’s busy lifestyles, customers will appreciate frozen prepared meats and pizza for time-saving meals. If you’re looking for a special gift for someone, don’t forget Covered Wagon carries unique items that are always appreciated. The Garber family purchased Covered Wagon in 2009 and today the business is operated by Dan and Rachel Garber with the assistance of their sons Jonathon and Jared. Down through the years the Garbers have strived to offer a expansive variety of fresh products to their customers in a clean, comfortable, nicely decorated setting. With the addition of several thousand square feet of shopping area this year, they continue the tradition of offering a vast array of fresh products in a welcoming atmosphere. They invite you to stop by starting March 1 to see for yourself the many improvements they’ve made to make shopping at Covered Wagon a pleasant experience. The store is conveniently located at 607 N. Main St. in Union, just four miles south of West Milton. It’s situated on the left and you can’t miss their large parking lot and attractive building. The Garber family looks forward to seeing you!

Our Winter reADing ChAllenge is underway, but it’s not too late to get in on the fun! Simply check out books from BPL and read. When you return them, fill out a slip and place in our snowman container and repeat. We will announce our top two readers in each of three age groups on March 17. Last day to turn in slips is March 15 at 7 p.m. Our Winter Reading Challenge is for all ages. Darke County Health Dept. will be holding a COViD VACCine CliniC Thursday, Feb. 17, 3-5 p.m., in the community room. They will be administering the Pfizer vaccine to those age 12 and up. Vaccines are free, but the Health Dept. asks that you bring your insurance card with you, if applicable. This clinic is offered to those receiving their first dose of vaccine. A second clinic will be held March 10 from 3-5 p.m. for the second dose. Booster vaccines will also be available for those needing a booster shot. Please bring your vaccine card if you are getting the booster. No registrations required. Please call the library and ask for Stacie if you have questions. PreSChOOl StOrY hOUr sign-ups for the next six-week session are available. Space is limited and registrations are required. The next session will begin February 22. If there is a lengthy waiting list we will consider holding a second session each week. Story Hour is held Tuesdays from 11 a.m.-noon and is for those three years old to those not in kindergarten. Candice leads children through large muscle activities, crafts, fine motor skills, pattern and sequence activities, and songs, as well as stories. All activities are geared to get your preschooler ready for kindergarten. We will be having our 3rd annual SOUP SWAP Friday, Feb. 25, from 11 a.m.-noon. Participants will need to come in to sign up and get your containers, labels, and recipe card. Simply bring in your soup, cooked, cooled and packaged in our containers. You will be able to take home the same amount of soup that you bring in. This is a simple way to have some easy meals available during the last few weeks of winter! BPL will continue to participate in the COViD teSt kit DiStriBUtiOn. We are happy to offer this valuable resource to the community. Due to limited supply, the state will be sending tests when they become available. Due to the uncertainty of number of kits we will receive and the frequency of deliveries, we will be limiting the amount of tests per pick-up to two. In the future we may receive kits that are un-proctored, meaning they may not be accepted for return to work, school, or travel. We have no control over what type of tests we receive, timing of deliveries, or the number of kits sent. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. Please call the library to see if kits are available. This information will also be on our website and Facebook page. If tests are in stock, you will be asked to pull up in our parking lot and call the same number on arrival. BPL staff will deliver test kits to your vehicle. No test kits will be given inside the library.
