Why should I consider an Equido Level 1 course? Do you want to learn and appreciate the basic requirements of horse care?
Do you want to understand the true nature of the partnership between man and horse? Do you want to study the physiological and psychological needs of the horse from a truly natural perspective? If yes, then Equido Level 1 may well be the right course for you. Taught part-time, the course is designed to allow students to create a strong and thorough working knowledge of the care and management of horses. Students will also actively develop an understanding of the horse, its needs and requirements, from a natural psychological perspective.
The course will be split into separate modules which will consider in depth areas such as: Equine behaviour • The physical and psychological evolution of the horse • A resolution of the relationship between the natural psychological needs of the horse and the demands placed upon them by ourselves Grooming and Handling • An in depth understanding of the tools and process of grooming and its impact upon the horse • An appreciation of handling and catching techniques for both easy and aggressive or nervous horses Feeding and Watering • A thorough knowledge of the equine digestive system • Dietary requirements and the development of a good nutritional regime
The course will also introduce: basic equine care, tack and clothing, shoeing, field care, bedding and mucking out and the points of the horse.

What qualifications do I need to enrol on this course? Potential students require no special qualifications for this course.
How can I continue to develop my natural horsemanship skills?
A natural next step for those students who wish to continue developing their skills would be the Equido Level 2 course. This course considers in greater detail the concepts of horse care and management and helps the student to really begin to understand how the equine mind actually works.
