Where will I study?
This full-time course will be taught at your local centre.
What qualifications do I need to enrol on this course? Students should have achieved three standard grades. Mature students will be considered based on relevant previous experience. All applicants will be required to attend an interview.
Will I receive a recognised qualification? Yes, upon completing the course you will achieve an SQA group award at Level 5
How can I continue to develop my skills? When you have successfully completed the course you may progress to an HNC/D Level of study in acting and performance or consider degree level study.

Do you want to enhance your employability skills and career prospects with a practical qualification that will incorporate the technical knowledge required to prepare you for a career in dance and drama? Do you want to work towards a qualification which will enable you to continue to study at HNC level and higher? If yes, then this course may well be the right course for you. As the creative industries sector continues to grow the demand for suitably qualified practitioners with practical experience is strong. This course introduces students to the practical skills utilised in dance and drama. You will gain an appreciation of dance and performance techniques and develop knowledge, skills and understanding in choreography. Students will also explore a range of appropriate techniques in voice, movement and acting, and develop skills for presentation at audition.
The course will introduce the following areas: • Choreography • Classical dance • Contemporary dance • Jazz • Drama production • Acting skills • Voice skills • Community drama • Movement skills Students are also required to study the following mandatory units: Introduction to Creative Industries, The Creative Process, Creative Project, Skills Development, Social Networking and Working for Yourself. Candidates completing this course will also achieve the following National Progression Awards (NPAs):• NPA Dance • NPA Professional Theatre Preparation • NPA Skills for Work: Creative Industries
