Why should I consider an Introduction to Land-Based Skills course? Do you want to learn the basic practical skills involved in various land-based industries? Do you want to enhance your employability skills and career prospects with a qualification that will prepare you for an apprenticeship or direct employment within a land-based organisation? Do you want to work towards a qualification which will enable you to study further at National Certificate level? If yes, then this course may well be the right course for you. You may be a school leaver looking to study for a future career. You could already be working within landbased industries but looking to improve your skills. Or you may be a more mature student wishing to change career direction and return to study. The course will help you develop your skills and gain confidence and practical experience in an extremely wide range of land-based areas.

Where will I study?
The full-time course will be taught at your local centre. The course will be delivered three days per week in college with an additional day each week spent enhancing practical skills in work placement.
What qualifications do I need to enrol on this course?
Potential students require no specific qualifications for this course. Students will be expected, however, to have a keen interest in land-based industries and to be reasonably fit.
Will I receive a recognised qualification?
Yes, upon completing the course you will achieve an SCQF credit at Level 5.
How can I continue to develop my skills? After successfully completing the course you will be able to progress to the Modern Apprenticeship programme or continue fulltime study in animal care, green keeping or horticulture.
