YOUR LOCAL COLLEGE

How will I study?

This SCQF Level 7 course will be delivered using a blend of online learning, workplace assessment and face to face tuition. You will be expected to commit around six hours a week to your studies over the 16 week duration of the course.

What qualifications do I need to enrol on this course?

Potential students should ideally be qualified or working towards SVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent. You should have substantial experience of working in the care sector and must be working in a role where you assist with, or administer medication.

Entry to the course will be by individual interview.

Why should I consider a PDA in Administration of Medication?

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) requires those individuals working within the care sector and having responsibility for administering medicines to meet specific registration standards. You may be a residential, support or day care worker dealing with older people, children and young people, mental health, care at home, housing support or other related social service areas. As a social care worker do you want to:• recognise and understand what is expected in terms of knowledge skills and values in administering medicines • reflect on existing practices and identify strengths and development needs? • explore opportunities for continuous professional development? As an employer in the social care field, do you want to ensure that your workforce has access to the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure the standards required to administer medicines are met?
