The logos symbol is based on an abstract volcano featuring a spiral to represent beauty and the earth. The word EARTH is done in typography different from the word volcanic as it represents island culture with its unique letter forms as well as gives the logo its own unique look. The symbol and text both have unique elements that allow them to identify the business separately. I have also done variations of the logo to be flexible for the many different ways the logo will be used in layouts like on packaging, web and print.

The labels for this range are printed on a clear sticker then stuck around the product. I have designed the range around the company’s limitations in packaging and budget while trying to keep it on the original bottle. I wanted to be consistent throughout the Tamanu oil range that can be identified with its green content on a tinted brown bottle. This solution avoids making the product look cheap and is a visually appealing simplistic design that will make the product stand out attracting buyers. I hope to continue this look and feel throughout the other products. The tamanu oil range has not been completed due to lack of resources I could use for mock-ups, however I have thought out exactly what to do for the remaining products in order to keep the constant look and feel.

The facial moisturizer is a concept for the product design, which to my understanding the company is unable to do due to the inability to laser print. In a solution for this product I have decided to use a white pump bottle copying the look and feel of the facial toner, which is also apart of the facial, care range. This will keep the facial care range consistent as all facial care products will be on white bottles with the content printed on a clear label. If possible I would like the facial care lids to be brown or green though I am unsure of weather or not this is possible. The coconut range will be like the Tamanu oil range with white text to represent the coconut as the green does the Tamanu ,they are both the colours of there ingredient. When it came to the wild ginger Lilly the colour of the main is a hot pink and did not stand out on the brown bottle. Upon doing further research the company they buy the bottles from offers a hot pink tinted bottle that could work with white text and white lids for the range. There are also many other shades of tinted bottles, which can be used for other ranges.

The website design and user interface was carefully thought out in order to achieve the best results for user experience. The colours of the website as well as it’s feel are consistent with the business culture. Users can easily filter products so they can find what they are looking for. The blog serves to further engage users and can be filled with helpful tips, interesting articles and even things like recopies. I have also incorporated extra hover effects and animation to make the user experience more enjoyable. The website is not completely finished yet as there are still a few bugs and much more content to be added such as products and the day spa page. The new website design will serve to attract more viewers and greatly increase sales as well as give the business what it needs to compete with its competitors. C U S T O M I Z AT I O N
For my technique in building this fully functional ecommerce site I highly customized a wordpress.org theme. As it was the first version of the theme used I found many glitches I needed to fix throughout the code and there is still a few more things I would like to change. I changes things like styles, added hover effects, fixed responsiveness.. etc. I was not limited in anything i can do and use the theme to create my design and layout getting my desired results. WHY WORDPRESS ? It’s the worlds most popular CMS platform that can allow my client to easily update info and manage the ecommerce system with the woocommerce integration. With my coding knowledge there was no limitation to what i could do in the design so i was able to achieve optimal results in the time frame i had without building a wordpress theme from scratch as i did not have the time or need to do so. HOW DID YOU DO IT ? When editing a wordpress theme you run the risk of loosing all changes upon theme update. For this reason I installed jetpack which comes with an overriding css editor file allowing me to customize theme style. So far 226 lines of css code have been written to customize this theme and much more works needs to be done to achieve perfect results.

I wanted to continue the consistent look, feel and culture across the business with the design of the product catalogue. The product catalogue is now immensely more engaging, easier to read and visually appealing. The products are displayed in a different way from before, which not only promotes them visually but also displays the information in an easy to read way. Though the product catalogue is not finished many more products and ranges will be added to it in the future.
C O N C L U S I O N The Look and feel of a brand gives determines its reputation, culture, and identity. It effects how the users feel about the brand, customers judge on appearance. I feel that the current branding of volcanic earth can communicates that it... - Is untrustworthy - Is unprofessional - Is cheap - Is Bad quality Attributes like these determine the buyers decision when purchasing a product. In re-branding the business my aim was to... - Increase sales - Create visual appeal - Generate user engagement - Create a easy and effective shopping experience - Market the business - Keep the design consistent throughout the business - Give the business a good reputation - Communicate the quality of the product - Look professional - Create a positive brand identity and culture - Represent the Vanuatu culture and organic all natural features - Communicate the content easily and effectively - Raise awareness of the business Though the project still has a long way to go I feel that I have succeeded in achieving my goal and have far improved the original branding.
