Procedures, Perks, and Giveaways
1. Two-Day Event and Vendor Tables
Based on feedback we received after the 2023 Annual Meeting, we have maintained the new two-day event format, which provides attendees with the full Annual Meeting experience but requires our hospital leaders to be away from work for fewer days. Sponsors who have invested at one of the top three levels will be sharing information about their products and services at tables in a designated area of the balcony. During breaks, we ask you to stop by and thank them for their support of this event. Sponsors will also attend educational sessions to allow for conversations and networking, so please help us welcome them!
2. Event Timing and Layouts
You may notice changes in the times of events from last year’s event. To prevent any confusion, check the meeting guide you will receive at on-site registration to make sure you have the correct session locations and times.
3. VIP Meet and Greet with Keynote Speaker
Thanks to Gallagher, a meet and greet will be held with the Keynote Speaker prior to his presentation on Thursday morning. AHAPAC contributors, AHA Board Members, and CEOs will be invited to attend this event. All attendees will receive Mike Massimino’s book Moonshot: A NASA Astronaut’s Guide to Achieving the Impossible and have it autographed. By invitation only.
4. Temperature Checks and Hand Sanitizer
Though CDC guidance no longer requires it, we still want to take precautions to keep everyone safe and healthy. Each morning, all attendees are invited to come to the registration desk and have your temperature checked and sanitize your hands. Anyone who does so will receive a wristband and can use it at the end of the day to enter a giveaway by dropping it in a designated box. One wristband will be drawn each day to decide the winner of a $150 gift card.
5. Hotel Room Key
Thanks to our generous sponsor, FORVIS, attendees can present their hotel room key card to the registration desk to be entered to win a $150 gift card. One name will be drawn each day.
6. Coffee Cup
AblePay will be providing coffee cups for AHA events, so make sure to grab one for your beverages. Gift cards will be awarded at random to those using the sponsored cup!
7. Complimentary Wi-Fi
Friday, Eldredge & Clark, LLP, will be sponsoring the Annual Meeting Wi-Fi again this year. Make sure you stop by the registration desk to get the access point name and code.
8. Attendee Lounge
Thanks to Clark Contractors, a member lounge will be set up on the balcony level for attendees to grab snacks and drinks throughout the meeting. The lounge will also provide access to charging stations, chairs, and tables to take a quick call or to set up your laptop to send an email.
9. Coffee
Thanks to Qualivis, all attendees will receive a wristband at registration. This wristband may be used in the Starbucks on the lobby level of the hotel for drinks at no cost to the attendee. (THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE FOOD.)
The Arkansas Hospital Association will again cover parking in the parking decks for event attendees. Please remember to bring your parking slip to the registration table each day to receive a sticker.

Recognizing the Purpose in Your Work
Faculty: Mike Massimino, Former NASA Astronaut; Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Columbia University; Senior Advisor for Space Programs at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
No matter how much we enjoy our jobs we sometimes get caught up in the day-to-day activities and can forget the big picture. This can even happen to astronauts. Mike stresses the importance of trying to remember the reason why we work as hard as we do. In addition to supporting our families and enjoying the challenges of our jobs, we should always remember how we are making the world a better place through our work. For Mike, as an astronaut, it was servicing and repairing the Hubble Space Telescope. Arguably the greatest scientific instrument ever built, Hubble made some of the greatest scientific discoveries in history while showing us the beauty of our universe. Contributing to great projects makes all the hard work and sacrifice worthwhile.

Faculty: Gloria Goins, Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, Cisco; Former Head of Health Equity and Business Development, Amazon Pharmacy
The outcomes of unconscious bias can be seen across all industries. But, in the health care industry, the need to mitigate it is of particular importance. Evidencebased impacts of unconscious bias on safety, quality, and mortality show that we are unintentionally putting our patients at risk. Cross-cultural competency is a “must have” skill as we define what it means to address, support, and manage the everchanging U.S. population. In this session, the participants will learn about practical actions that can be taken to reduce the effects of unconscious bias in every operation.
