So it’s no wonder that it affects your skin, too. The beauty benefits of a good night’s sleep have been proclaimed for centuries, but it’s only in recent years that we’ve been able to supercharge these. Technology isn’t helping either – the glowing light from iPhones and computer screens tricks our brain into thinking it’s still day, leading to late-night TV marathons or mindless Pinterest sessions, throwing our internal body clock out

PREP
SCHOOL
This autumn Ralph Lauren childrenswear presents fresh interpretations of their signature classic preppy style – and it’s never looked better, or cuter!
G
lamour is not just for grownups. This season Ralph Lauren channels the luxurious mood of their Downton Abbey-inspired Runway collection into childrenswear. Introducing signature equestrian-inspired looks for boys, invigorated by festive prints, iconic tweeds, soft cashmere
and cords. For girls, precious dresses in heritage tartan and plush velvet showcase exquisite detailing and craftsmanship, perfect for the season’s most special occasions. While down-time is all about mixing and matching and having fun — a tweed blazer paired with camouflage cargos, a shaggy cable-knit cardigan
with heavily distressed skinny jeans — makes for individualistic style all season long. Preppy varsity-inspired rugby shirts, brightly colored corduroys and an eclectic mix of outerwear including a wool letterman jacket, oilcloth hunting coats and classic denim jackets will have your kids heading back to school in style.

last word
Arnotts are delighted to welcome American designer Jill Stuart to the womenswear department.
Launched in 1993, Jill Stuart’s eponymous line is said to have really taken off when pieces from the collection were used in the 1995 movie Clueless. Today, the brand is all about grown up, high-octane glamour. What is your favourite piece from your autumn/winter 2013 collection? I adore the black laser cut wool dress. I’m really looking forward to wearing it this autumn. Where did you get inspiration for your latest collection? My inspiration comes from a variety of places – museums, books, film, art, music. For autumn/winter 2013 I was thinking about bohemian aristocratic parties in the English countryside. What is your new season wardrobe essential? Anything with texture! I really love all of the raffia and lace pieces from this new collection. How did you get
your big break as a designer? At age 15, I sold my first collection of chokers and suede-fringed hobos to Bloomingdales. Whose style—past or present—do you most admire? Right now I really love Rooney Mara and Michelle Williams. What do you love about the fashion industry? The people, especially the amazing and inspiring women. What has been your proudest moment to date? My children are my proudest achievement. You have dressed some amazing celebrities, who has been your favourite?
Solange Knowles recently wore one of my satin stripe dresses from autumn/winter 2013. She looked incredible. What’s your favourite style city? New York of course! As they say, New York is a melting pot and that extends to style – everything that is ever possible is here. Where are your favourite places in NY to shop and hang out? I love all the vintage shops here, I could spend hours just looking around! My favourite thing to do in New York is exploring all the wonderful museums and galleries that we have here. I especially like MOMA and The Gagosian Gallery.
