Economic Empowerment is the leading thematic area of the Foundation, the Programmes under this theme have been designed to improve the economic conditions of targeted communities with the holistic view to improving their quality of life. HF drives business models that are sustainable, so they operate successfully even after HF’s exit. The programmatic areas under Economic Empowerment include: • Skills Development • Enterprise Development Program

Skills Development Programs Under this Program HF has partnered with national and international partners and stakeholders including PPAF, World Vision, Plan Pakistan, HomeNet Pakistan, UKAID, PSDF, GIZ, AusAid NAVTTC, TEVTA and many more reputed organizations to build the capacity of target youth and make them ready to contribute in national income through decent jobs and small businesses with in the country and abroad. Sub Programs under Skills Development 1. Hospitality Management Training Program Hospitality Management Training Program (HMTP) is one of the flagship programs of Hashoo Foundation. It is focused on imparting knowledge and skills to young women and men, by providing them opportunities to learn and practice the skills and competencies required by the global hospitality industry. HMTP was initiated in 1999 by introducing hands-on training opportunities in Hashoo Group of Hotels especially at Marriott and Pearl Continental Hotels across the country. 2. Technical & Vocational Training Program Hashoo Foundation initiated Technical & Vocational Education Training Program (TVETP) in 1999 by identifying the emerging needs of industries. HF engages youth (unskilled, semi-skilled) to learn and practice various competencies and skills related to needs of national and international market. HF has trained above 15000 youth in various qualifications since inception.

Early Childhood Development Program Hashoo Foundation (HF), in 2004, intervened in Early Childhood Development areas to create an enabling environment for early childhood development through building capacity of young teachers, parents and caregivers. HF conducted various baseline studies to set a viable scope of early childhood development program that facilitates each child to reach his or her potential and become a productive part of the rapidly changing, global society. 4.

Institutional Strengthening Training Program Hashoo Foundation initiated Institutional Strengthening Training Program (ISTP) in 2012 to enhance knowledge, capacity, skills and competencies of professionals working in development and corporate sectors at different managerial and executive level positions. This training has enabled professionals, communities and organizations to strengthen their capabilities to develop, implement and maintain effective management system, get optimum utility of resources and improve productivity and efficiency. 5. Life Skills Training Program (LSTP) Hashoo Foundation equally focuses to develop knowledge, skills and attitude of youth so that they can play key role at workplace, society and home. Ultimately, this approach develops a balanced personality having required competencies in respective field. LSTP is one of the key programs which is embedded in all our training programs as it helps the learner to adopt practical skills and best practices to bring measurable improvement in their lives. 6. Job Placement Cell HF has been providing guidance and support to youth in developing career plans and getting decent jobs through enhancing their employability skills. Job Placement Cell (JPC) mobilizes the skilled youth to start their careers in their relevant fields. After mobilization and selection of youth, JPC conducts workshops on employability skills, career counseling, career planning, job readiness, CV writing and interview skills. JPC team builds relationship with employers through market survey / meetings and explore job opportunities for selected trained youth.


Enterprise Development Program The Entrepreneurship Development Program of HF concentrates upon development and incorporation of sustainable initiatives, where support is provided to local communities. Small industry economic models such as Honey Bee Farming, Livestock and Dairy Development and Agribusiness modules are introduced, where women and men are geared towards ensuring indigenous economic revival and development. Sub Programs under EDP are 1. Honey Bee Farming The Women Empowerment through Honey Bee Farming Project was initiated to empower women in the Northern and other areas of Pakistan by expanding employment opportunities and has been generating a stable source of income through the sale of high-quality honey. The project addresses the discrepancy between the income earned by men and women beekeepers by educating the women in beekeeping and linking them to profitable markets. Furthermore, the project improves the status of women in their communities, as they become more integrated in the decision-making process within male dominated societies. 2. Marble Shine Associates Marble Shine Associates is a unique income generating project of Hashoo Foundation, that offers high quality floor polishing services (marble, granite and chips) to commercial, government and private clients. Operating since 1999, MSA works with 5-star hotel chains, private hospitals and governmental facilities, as well as commercial buildings. The project employs and has trained more than 172 staff. 3. Handicrafts Hashoo Foundation’s Handicrafts program aims to empower the communities and society and is constantly on the lookout for projects and initiatives that impact the lives of Pakistanis. Hashoo Foundation’s Handicraft program was piloted with 80 direct women beneficiaries and 560 indirect beneficiaries (children and families) and shows immense potential for growth and promises sustainable means of livelihoods for hundreds.
