AS TEXTILES A1: ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

A1: Response to Surface/Texture (Term 1-2) This first assignment will start off your exploration into the given theme. Throughout the assignment you will produce a variety of development/experimentation work that will lead to your own response to your chosen area of enquiry. Remember your outcome can take its shape and form in the sense of a wall hanging, image transfer, textile sculpture, stitched painting, cushion or garment. There is no limit on scale or media; cross boundaries with your materials and techniques. Remember this is ART TEXTILES! Throughout term 1-2 you will be expected to produce the following in terms of quantity of work. However, this will vary from pupil to pupil:  Full A3 sketchbook with evidence of: 1. First and second hand observational drawing 2. Experimentation in a wide range of media including machine embroidery, fabric manipulation, print, embellishment, painting, collage and photography 3. Strong links visually/written to the work of other artists, craftsperson’s and photographer, demonstrating competent analytical skills 4. Evidence of planning and recording of your idea/thoughts

 A final outcome or sustained piece of work in response to the given theme. The time spent on your final piece could be anything from 10 to 20 hours.
