Ashburton man Baron Gordon waited more than a year for surgery but for Christmas he got his second hip replaced. His was one of many operations pushed through to shorten waiting lists by the Canterbury District Health Board. Other Mid Canterbrians can expect shorter waiting times with anyone promised surgery and placed on to a waiting list before August 3, 2013, guaranteed their operation before New Year’s Eve, according to an update by acting chief executive Mary Gordon to the health board today. On the waiting list for 13 months, Mr Gordon finally had his operation last week and was recouping at home. Still a bit sore, Mr Gordon
