Paying it Forward Lisa Nelson’s Mustang Stampede

ABOUT THE CAUSE This campaign hits close to home for many Kahuna-ites, as it is a memorial scholarship fund honoring the legacy of a beloved educator and coach. Lisa Nelson is the sister of our own Scott Schamp and was a P.E. Teacher & Volleyball Coach at Ralston Valley High School. Lisa tragically passed away on March 3rd, 2013 after a courageous 2 year battle with cervical cancer at the age of 43. Lisa Nelson’s Memorial Scholarship is awarded every year to 3 high school student-athletes from Ralston Valley High and the Jefferson County School District. These Scholarship recipients embody the characteristics Lisa valued the most in her students: leadership, good character, citizenship, sportsmanship and community involvement. The Lisa Nelson Mustang Stampede is a 5K run/walk event that raises money to go towards the Lisa Nelson Memorial Scholarship. This year, Kahuna will be sending 11 runners to the starting line. Additionally, we will continue our inter-office banter and fundraising shenanigans in support of this great cause.

She may be small but she is mighty. This Hurricane can crunch numbers and craft a mean cocktail with the best of the best. Don’t underestimate her ability to light up the track.

Our super recycler has many hidden talents, running is one of the things this man excels at...being serious is another story.

Descended from a proud Viking heritage, this man always follows the ancient Viking saying, “It is better to stand and fight. If you run, you will only die tired.” Wait, what do you mean this is a running event???

An avid outdoorsman, loves long walks on the beach and desperately needs a reason to get out of the house after just having a baby.

Just the average AllAmerican boy, this National Champion in Chinese kick-boxing has this 5K in the bag.

Loves pretty much every outdoor activity, except for running, but needs to start running so her friends’ dogs don’t keep showing her up on hikes!

Don’t think the man can Beer-drinker, eReader run? Pull up in a red car and addict, husband, and runner. He’s very busy and just test his abilities! important!
