What a difference a year makes! Kaley, now 15, has had many life changes this year. First and foremost, she no longer attends Coral Reef Sr. High. Three days into her 10th grade school year, she transferred to full time Florida Virtual School (FLVS). All of her courses throughout the rest of high school will be taken online. She’s currently taking all honors courses and is doing very well. She recently joined the student ambassador program, which will allow her to speak out about her experiences at various events throughout the year. Ambassadors get perks like trying out new classes and they also have the opportunity to learn how to be a moderator or presenter and assist students and teachers in other classes. Additionally, she joined Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). With a change of direction towards a Business degree in college, this club will offer her travel opportunities, competitions, scholarships, leadership development, community service experience and a chance for social interaction and friendships. FLVS is more than the family expected and offers many new opportunities for Kaley’s future. As many of you already know, Kaley has had some growing pains over the past few years, including problems with her knees and a diagnosis of mild scoliosis. Just last year she was running in races and competing as a hurdler on her high school track team (see Sports section). The impact of all that running may be the cause of a slight worsening of her curve, however, she misses her sport tremendously and is looking to do some more running events in the near future. Back in late March, Kaley got her braces taken off and she now has the most gorgeous smile (right)! Another big milestone this year was getting her learners permit (left)! She has been driving since last June and has tackled most local roads, including the Tur npike, I75 and even the Palmetto Expressway!
