In addition to her honors courses, she just completed a dual enrollment College Algebra course through the University of Florida. Kaley is the Senior Class Secretary for the 2018/2019 FLVS Full Time student council. This year, she is a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. Her current GPA is 3.848, with a weighted GPA of 4.141. Her GPA will go up higher once her dual enrollment grade is added. in When she graduates in May, she will receive one merit and several scholar designations. Graduation will be held on May 24th at the UCF campus in Orlando. COLLEGE UPDATE: Kaley is officially a Knight! Kaley had applied to three universities offering Hospitality degrees. The one that she toured and loved the most was the University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality Management. She was also accepted to FIU’s School of Hospitality and Tourism and the School of Resort and Hospitality Management at Florida Gulf Coast. UCF Rosen was her top choice and the school is ranked in the top 5 globally by CEOWorld Magazine. She will be starting in Summer 2019. WORK UPDATE: Back in May, Kaley left her job at Office Max and is now a coach at Florida Gymnastics Training Center. She did gymnastics there for a few years as a child and now gets to work with the 4 and under kids to teach them coordination and basic tumbling skills. She also coaches one Mommy and Me class. This month she found herself assisting the older kids in the big gym, but she should be going back to be with her kids at the beginning of the year. She really misses them! SCHOOL OF ROCK: Kaley is still rocking her guitar! She auditioned for the School of Rock (SOR) House Band back in August and is now in the band! Not only does she play in the SOR Show Bands, but she regularly performs with the House Band at venues all around South Florida. The next Show Band performance in January is all Rush songs. You can read more about her SOR performances in the Local section.
Above: Kaley won $500 in our hometown Palmetto Bay photography contest. Her photo will grace the cover of the 2019 winter edition of the Village of Parks Play-by-Play

Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party September 2018
Humanities and the Sunshine State June 2018 Back in April, Kaley submitted an essay and application to attend a 1 week residential camp program up at the University of Florida called Humanities and the Sunshine State:. Kaley was 1 of only 30 students selected across the state. She was paired with a roommate and lived in a dorm for an entire week. The camp took them on several field trips where they learned all about our Florida waterways. Below are some of the key activities, although they did much, much more!
Even though they aren’t Disney passholders this year, the girls managed to squeeze in a short trip to Disney to attend the Halloween party. Disney bounding again this year, the girls went as Aurora and Maleficent. Kaley worked hard all summer and treated her mom with the trip.
33rd Commissioner’s Academic Challenge Walt Disney World April 2018 Kaley was a part of the 2018 FLVS Academic Team this past year (11th grade) and competed in a statewide high school tournament held up at Disney World. This year the tournament was at the Contemporary Resort. FLVS made it through the Preliminary round, but lost in the Consolation round the next day. Once eliminated, the team had time to visit the Magic Kingdom and spend some free time together. They attended a banquet on Saturday night where Mickey and Minnie made a special appearance! The first meetup for the 2019 Academic Team Challenge is scheduled for January at Disney Springs. She should make it on the team again this year. If so, the competition will be held in April at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn.
✴Visited Glen Springs & Boulware Springs ✴Canoed down the Santa Fe River to Blue Springs (where they got to dive in and swim (Kaley is in picture below holding her nose) ✴Visited the UF football field and Fork Gardens to learn about sustainable farming ✴Visited Cedar Key Shell Mound and enjoyed a soul food dinner at a local church i Chiefland, FL At the end of the week, parents were invited back to attend the closing banquet and the presentations of the capstone group projects. In the end, she made some new friends and got a little taste of living the dorm life.

the KELLY Times School of Rock
Kaley is really enjoying the School of Rock. Her guitar playing is getting better and better every day. She also sings occasionally. So far she’s been in 3 Show Bands: ✴ Foundry Fathers - at Open Stage Club in Coral Gables. Music was based on Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy, etc. ✴ Van Halen - at Open Stage Club in Coral Gables. Kaley wowed the crowd and blew them away wit her solos. ✴ The Big 4 - at Gramps in Wynwood. The music was from Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica. She was the only girl interested in this show and she blew people away, especially with her performance of Tornado of Souls. The video can be viewed on YouTube here: http://alturl.com/du4tr ✴ Rush is coming up in January at Open Stage Club on January 13th. House Band has been performing around South Florida for the past few months now. They perform in clubs, at fairgrounds and even in parades. ✴ In October, the House Band played Doc Renos Bacon and Blues Fest at the Bergeron Rodeo. They also played at the Sandbar in Cutler Bay and at the Miami Brickell Festival of the Arts in Downtown Miami. ✴ In November, they played the Red, White and Blues Festival up at the Palm Beach Improv. ✴ In December, they played on a float at the Jr. Orange Bowl Parade and will be on another float December 30th at the King Mango Strut Parade in Coconut Grove. There will be many more performances in 2019! It will all culminate next summer, as the House Band will go on tour in and out of state. Sadly, it will officially be her last performance with the School of Rock before starting college.
Lily’s 6th birthday on March 10th
The Kelly’s wish everyone a happy and healthy 2019.
