Since his passing, Nina and Romané have continued his legacy through amongst other things, the Gérard Basset Foundation, which has made a significant impact in the wine industry through its initiatives, not least of which is the development of scholarships that support increased diversity in the world of Sommellerie. As part of this year's Golden Vines Award celebration held in October, Dr. Sachindri Rana from New Zealand, Eduardo Bolaños from the United States, and Amrita Singh from India were officially awarded their 2023 Taylor's Port Golden Vines Diversity scholarships worth a staggering 55,000 Pound Sterling each. Also of note, Aprine Manukyan from Armenia also received her Dom Pérignon Golden Vines MW Scholarship.
