INTERVIEW WITH GO MODERN FOUNDERS SIMON INGHAM & TINA MAHONY
Go Modern goes outd During the London Design Festival, Manutti will partner up with contemporary furniture expert Go Modern to present the newest trends in outdoor furniture design. Celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year, Go Modern specialises in contemporary, design-led furniture, and works with many of Europe’s leading designers and manufacturers. During the whole of the London Design Festival, Go Modern’s King’s Road showroom will be transformed into a magical ‘outdoor garden sitting room – inside’, to showcase the very latest of Manutti’s designs. Manutti caught up with Go Modern’s founders, Tina Mahony and Simon Ingham, to chat about the company’s origins and inspirations.
Tell us how it all started? T: I’d always had a love of high-end contemporary furniture, and back in 2006 I was frustrated that no one in the UK was selling many of the wonderful brands that I knew were available in Europe. Go Modern began as a way of sourcing the designs we loved (and that we hoped Go Modern customers would love too!). CHLOE MIRROR/ SCREEN
How do you choose who you work with? S: We work with leading designers and manufacturers to bring the very best of European design to the UK. All of the furniture we choose is hand-picked, and we make careful judgements on design, practicality and of course value – we believe that modern furniture should be as good to use as it is to look at! We’re now one of the UK’s leading specialists in contemporary furniture and we sell to customers around the world. It’s important to us that our suppliers share

our passion for design and high quality – we pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and attention to detail, and we share those attributes with everyone we work with.
Who are Go Modern’s customers? S: We work with both trade and private clients, in fact anyone who, like us, has a passion for contemporary, quality design.

Kumo
Airy design CREATE AN OUTDOOR COCOON Kumo, the Japanese word for cloud, is a light, tautly designed and contemporary seating island. This playful and airy sofa concept comes with two modules and a pouf that can be used in different outdoor settings, both privately and publicly, large or small: intimately, on a terrace or by the pool, but also in the reception area of hotels or in public buildings.
Kumo invites you to create a personalised outdoor cocoon: its concept with interchangeable covers comes in different shapes and sizes, with decorative pillows, seat and back cushions which can be chosen from the extensive Manutti fabrics range. The armrests and back supports are easily adjustable, transforming the Kumo cloud into a plush sofa, a stylish lounger, a 1-seater or cool footrest. ❚ DESIGNER PORTRAIT LIONEL DOYEN

GRAND MINIMALISM
MARBLE TO MARVEL
Inspired by Japanese art, San is an iconic and sculptural piece of furniture for true design aficionados. Timeless and contemporary at the same time, the design radiates minimalist elegance. San’s natural lines in exotic Iroko wood are supported by durable materials such as stainless steel and marble. Comfort meets design. The low-to-the-ground bench, inspired by the Japanese seating culture, is available in Lava and White.
With San, it’s all in the details: from the branded logo and slim legs to the use of marble. The refined marble tables form an eye-catching contrast with the bench’s natural wooden structure. Round or rectangular? The table can be clicked on where you like it best and comes in New Portoro Poli black and Carrara C white, responding to both different functional needs and atmospheres. ❚
The collection boasts a unique set of possible setups, from bench to lounger and 2- or 3-seater. Both seating and back cushions are removable and come in different colours. Love to add more elements to San’s setup? Discover our new complimentary armrests and tables for extra comfort.
