Women’s Club Basketball Team is wrapping
The
up the season as this school year comes to an end. We have been busy with a variety of things such as electing new officers and preparing for our final tournament. This last tournament is this weekend and it will be held at NC State. It is also our national tournament so it is the most important one of the season. We have been practicing hard in the gym all year long and we really want to show what we are capable of doing. We are excited to travel to State this weekend and we’re hoping to send our seniors off with a championship since these are the last games they will be playing at Appalachian! Casey Tarwater, Secretary
A few weeks ago, Fencing Club had just gotten through an awesome and intense training session with a nationally ranked coach. Over the past few weeks, we have been continuing the drills and exercises we learned. Coming next weekend, we get to take that training to the next step. Fencing Club will be traveling to Morganton, home of the Knights of Malta, where will we once again be training with Coach Matt Parmer. However, this time, we will also be competing in a tournament with his students in the Knights of Malta. Fencing Club will get to test our training against some new and very experienced fencers. If this competition is anything like our first training session, we will be returning both incredibly worn out and with a lot of valuable experience!

Get ready ladies and gentlemen, the postseason is here, and Appalachian State University Men’s Ultimate is about to take it by storm. On April 13th and 14th, the Nomads will travel to Clemson, South Carolina to competing in the Conference Championships. This is the first round of playoffs, and happens to be the furthest the Nomads have made it in team history. On the shoulders of veteran players including Zach Vanderplate, Justin Allen, Shane Fluet, and Michael Neve, the obvious goal is to do what hasnt been done before: to advance to Regionals. Competition comprises local schools including UNC Wilmington and NC State. Keep the Nomads on your mind this weekend wishing them luck! It is time for us to see how much we have been depositing into the bank? And to see who is going to be rich come Sunday evening? Will you be able to ask yourself "I gave my all for the Appalachian State Nomads today?” You better. Jeff Nordgren, Member
Club Baseball Team is off to a
App State’s
hot start this season. With a lot of returning players, we are currently 7-3 with strong pitching from Josh Kelly, Keith Walsh, and Tyler Piercy. Also strong hitting from the entire team had helped us out tremendously, and we are sitting pretty at first in the division. With tough games against Charlotte and Kentucky left on the schedule, our season is in full swing and the race for the division title is in full swing. Michael Aiello, Secretary

AHO Women’s Rugby Team has had a very The
successful season maintaining an undefeated season at 20-0. We have played an assortment of teams including DI and DII teams ranging from NC and many other states. Starting the season with a big win against Lee University during Rucktoberfest for 1st place, AHO has maintained that drive and dedication in order to successfully keep a winning record. A win against College of Charleston two weeks ago named AHO Women's Rugby as the South Champions moving to the round of 32 in the national tournament. Up against the 4th seed in the nation, AHO stepped onto the rugby pitch this past Saturday ready to play and give it their all. Playing the best game that they have played all year, AHO pulled out a win. This places our team into the Sweet 16 round of the National Tournament playing SUNY Albany this Saturday, the 13th, in Annapolis. We are very excited to compete along side some very good rugby teams this weekend, hoping to make it as far as possible. Kasey Furphy, Vice President

Recently, the Nonads Women’s Ultimate traveled to Richmond and Elon for back-to-back tournament weekends. At Richmond, the team played many teams that they had never played before, including Maryland, George Washington, and George Mason. Captain Terran Tout said “Richmond was a nice change of pace, playing different teams instead of the same ones we always see at tournaments.” On Saturday, the team struggled in the first game against Maryland, still struggling with a new offence recently implemented. After the loss, the team regrouped and took the field again, this time against George Washington. Leaving the last game behind, the team fixed the offense, played tight defense, and took the game 151. The George Washington game was followed by another win against Richmond. George Mason proved to be a tougher challenge. The teams were neck and neck trading points back and forth. George Mason took the game 1514, scoring the last point during hard cap. On Sunday, the Nonads finished in third place, the best placing this year, with a 4-2 record. Next, the Nonads traveled to Elon for the annual Nutty Huck tournament. On Saturday, the team went 2-2, collecting a win against Wake Forest. The loss against Virginia Tech was a close game, VT pulling away at the end in soft cap for the victory. In the fourth game on Saturday, the Nonads lost in universe point to Davidson. Sectionals is April 13-14 in Wilmington NC. The Nonads intend to channel the energy from the past two tournaments and secure another bid to regionals this year. Although outdoor practice space has proved hard to come by, the team has worked hard to condition, practice the basics, and work on plays. Freshman player Jenna Schachner says “the Carolina Conference better watch out for the Nonads.” Kasey Telfer, Secretary
Even though the school year is winding down the Equestrian Team is still going strong. Our regular season competitions and practices have ended and now we have time for some social activities! We had our team dinner at Woodlands Barbeque and got to enjoy some relaxing and socializing for once! We also took some team pictures on Sunday and had BEAUTIFUL weather outside in front of the University sign. We have a team hike planned for Saturday and a cookout with some live music entertainment on April 28th. We are also have a "Combined Training" schooling show this Sunday at our barn where the riders will complete a Dressage Test and and Jumping Round and get a combined score. Halie Cunningham will be representing Appalachian State at the Dressage Nationals in a couple of weeks on April 28th. I've still got my fingers crossed that I will get the wildcard spot and be able to go to nationals with Halie! Although regular season practice is over we have many riders that have chosen an optional extended lesson package and are still driving down to the barn to ride every week. We are loving riding in this warm weather and hope it stays around for all of the fun activities we have planned!

In the Women’s C race, Abbey Dahl was the winner, with Sarah Kiviniemi in third and Baylee Hale in fifth. Nina Laughlin was second in the Women’s A road race, and Kelly Perkins finished fourth. On Sunday, we raced our criterium in downtown West Jefferson with more great results in every race.
