Gearing Up For Aidan Todd, Secretary
THE BIG ONE
After a long cold winter break the Nomads are ready for a fruitful spring. This starts with Carolina Kickoff a tournament on the weekend of 1/25/2020. This tournament will be a good test of the skills and chemistry that the team formed during the fall. Teams like UNC and NC State will be a real roadblock for the team later down the stretch so a chance to play them this early in the semester will really help the team prepare for what’s to come later in the year. Kickoff is just the beginning of the Nomads Journey this semester as the team is looking to be the first Nomads to make it to nationals. It will be a long and treacherous one but if any one is up to the challenge its this team. In order to achieve this lofty goal, its going to be how we perform in a few key tournaments. Firstly, the team will have to earn a bid for the section by being placed in the top 100 of college teams in the country. In order to do this, we will be going to a few tournaments over the next couple months to prove to the Frisbee gods that we are worthy of the top 100. Next, we go to the secondly tournament itself. There we will play teams from both North and South Carolina and with a few wins and the bid we already earned we will head off to Regionals. This tournament combines teams from all across the east coast spanning from Georgia all the way up to Connecticut. With only two spots open for nationals the Nomads will have to play our tail bones off to grab a coveted spot to the goal we worked so hard for. This long journey ahead looks challenging but the nomads are up to the challenge. Our first official week of practice starts Wednesday and the grinding will not stop till the end of the semester. Workouts and film sessions will continue on the days we aren’t practicing in order to get the most out of our time. New found commitment and dedications from every member of the team is also going to be key. I will make sure to keep you the reader updated as the semester continues.

Welcoming the NewYear By: Charlotte Murphy, Club Sports Represntative
After a successful season in 2019 the Appalachian State Women’s Rugby team is excited to get back on the field. During winter break the team captains and officers worked tirelessly to arrange several opportunities for the team to show their skills. This season we have several matrix matches that begin in February and one friendly match that is going to take place in March. The first matrix match is against The College of Charleston on their home turf. This game is set to take place on February 1st with a kickoff time around 1pm. This will not be our first time playing CofC, but never the less this game will prove to be a challenging learning experience.
conditions as well as coming fresh out of break. Hopefully we will be able to start practicing this week to ensure everyone is back in the rugby groove. As of right now we are trying to obtain practice space in varsity fields and on the traditional State Farm fields, but as mentioned before we are still working with weather conditions. In addition to our spring season kicking off the team has also started to look at buying jackets, and more information on this can be found on the team website. New Year, New Season
by: Alli Lobach, Secretary
Welcome back everyone! A new semester means a new volleyball season; and we could not be more excited to get back on the court. The executive board has been working hard to make this a great semester! Our teams will be traveling across the state, from Cullowhee to Wilmington, to face the highest levels of competition. In April, we will bring the competition to us as we host a home tournament here at App State. The season will be starting this week with an open gym, followed by team placements next week. We look forward to seeing new faces and returning players in the gym! Go Mountaineers!

Executive Corner Caroline Holland, Club Sports Executive
Hello all! My name is Caroline Holland and I am excited to see what the spring semester upholds for the Club Sports Program. On Wednesday, January 22 2020, we held our first council meeting of the spring semester. This meeting was mainly filled with voting on two infractions, reviewing parts of the Club Sports Manual, along with going over some reminders about travel forms, competition reports, and MICs. The executives hit the ground running weeks before classes started. Colin Wrba, the Coordinator for Sports and Activities, and the Executive Board traveled to Winston Salem and spoke with Dana Lopez, the Associate Director of Programs. We were able to gain an insight on their Club Sports Program. During our time at their Student Recreation Center we discussed how our programs function differently. We also prepared for the semester ahead of us along with deciding what project we wanted to follow. I am planning symposium to help the transition of each team’s executive board, Alison is working on amazing things for the end of the year banquet, while Nathan is gathering data to propose a new budget to the university, Griffin is in search of candidates for 2020-2021 Club Sport Executive Officers, and Maya is working on doing an assessment of the Club Sports Program.
