The showcase DIZAJN borns from the desire from the gallery to highlight another art form in which Serbian artists denote style and creativity, or fashion design. Six designers chosen to represent Serbia: known names selected for the event, appreciated by magazines such as Vogue Talents and also published in many other newspapers. In fact the showcase was intended to be part of the curatorial project YMETHOCT // Contemporary Serbia, the group exhibition realized with the support of Confindustria Serbia counting the presence of the following artists: TKV, Stevo Mandić, Mile Šaula, Dragan Đorđević, DiStruktura, Nina Stanković, Ljubomir Vučinić, Tijana Knežević, Nikola Božović, Biljana Milenković, Mina Radović The young designers offered an overview of their collections relating jewels (Studio Manufactura), menswear (Kony Miami), women's clothing bon ton style (Maradu), gypsy glam (Gala Borović Studio) or monumental (Dajana Vasić), for reach up to the wearable sculptures already finalists at the prestigious ITS Contest (Sonja Iglič). An exhibition within an exhibition, this is the intent of the creators: a dialogue between painting and fashion in which these two actually mimic with each other, playing with the role and the weight given to them in a possible ranking inside the Art. And it is precisely for this reason that clothes are framed like paintings or jewels are freed from their incidental nature to approach a statuesque seriousness, while the paintings are "stripped" of their sacred aura to prove simple traces of personal experience of an individual, told by means of the techniques of painting. The showcase DIZAJN intended, therefore, provide a small insight into the fashion scene this time in Serbia, emphasizing creativity and beauty that depict the facets and faces of this fascinating country.
DAJANA VASIĆ Dajana Vasić has recently completed master studies at the Faculty of Applied Arts, specializing in fashion design. “Oblitus” was her graduate collection. While making “Oblitus”, her main inspiration was in the 50’s with some opposing details of Punk. As a part of the collection, there are dresses, coveralls, and other details such as gloves, hats and shoes. Main detail in her collection were the safety pins, which she put together to make a dress, using up to 30 000 of them. She also used the safety pins to make some accessories for the collection. The entire concept was done in the spirit of the fallen aristocracy. The person in charge of the photo shooting was a talented young photographer Jovana Mladenovic, with whom Dajana goes a long way back in putting together these fantastic projects, a long side with the entire team involved in the making of “Oblitus”.

Dajana Vasić has recently achieved the Master at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Contemporary Fashion governed by professor Doda Komad. The “Oblitus” collection on display in the gallery presented the main piece of her degree made with 30,000 safety pins and has been exposed already in six international group shows. Since 2014 she is invited annually to the Belgrade Fashion Week and her work has been published in the Bazaar, Elle magazine, Grazia and Vogue Italy.
SONJA IGLIČ This project is about the everlasting question - Should we all be winners? The technological era has, with all the good, brought a lot of bad things too. Yes, we can contact anyone and visit any place on Earth, but it comes at a price: huge worldwide competition. The stronger the competition, the more each person has to fight. Sometimes only to survive, but where are our dreams? And so, slowly we’re becoming true predators. The collection shows how that vicious circle looks and the transformation stages of an individual. All the moments when we can stop, but we don’t. The Flytrap is used as a symbol of the predators and in each piece is presented differently according to the shape and meaning of it. In order to emphasize the level of the vicious circle, some of the flytraps have the names from Dante’s divisions imprinted inside of them. All the items are handmade using genuine leather and brass.

Sonja Iglič, after completing her studies in stage design in 2012 at the Faculty of Applied Arts, decided to devote herself to her true passion, namely to jewelry. In 2013 she won first prize at the international contest “Art in” Serbia miniatures with the collection “Another Sound”. 2014 is the year of the Grand Prix victory thanks to the collection The power of 3 and in 2015 qualifies for the finals of the prestigious ITS Contest Trieste. From 2016 is a member of the ‘Association of Artists of Applied Arts and Design of Serbia.
GALA BOROVIĆ “The 1986 collection presents a very intimate deed for me. “Over the past I had been working on this project, the debut of which was at XXXVIII Belgrade Fashion Week in November 2015. The collection is inspired by the New Age Travellers community. British photographer Iain McKell, in his editorials, is vividly showing the way of living that New Age Travellers are presenting. This post-punk and anti-Tacher movement moved from London to the English countryside. Over the years this movement has evolved into what McKell describes as a ‘hybrid tribe of new gypsies’ and ‘present-day rural anarchists’, who, along with fleeting about the countryside, seem to regularly appear at festivals, Glastonbury to name but one. I was mostly impressed by the energy, wistful views and freedom of the new age travelers. In this collection I was trying to carry over that impression and try to implement it into garments. My primary goal was to create a complex story made out of printed, saturated colored fabrics with unique textures. Garments from the collection are supposed to be easy for wearing and that there are no rules when it comes to combining them. Details are presented in a form of the illustrations printed on a cotton fabric, later on hand embroidered with sequins and pearls. Illustration I did were inspired by the New Age Traveler’s believes in prophecy and symbols that were very authentic for this kind of commune. Also, as I was mesmerized by their facial expressions and eyes on the photographs, my plan was to try translating that feeling into my hand embroideries I later on sewn to clothes. Furthermore, accessories are very important to me so I wanted to make corresponding shoes for this collection. Five pairs of shoes were done in collaboration with a traditional shoemaker, and other five pairs of shoes I recycled from old ones, hand painting and embellishing those using different techniques. “

Gala Borović Studio | Gala Borović, class 1991, is currently enrolled in the Master in Fashion Design in Belgrade, after earning a bachelor’s degree in the same university and a diploma in Technical Design at the School of Design of the capital. The collection 1986 appeared in Vogue Talents in December 2015 and was presented in Belgrade Fashion Week for the S / S 2016.
MARADU There are two collections: 1_‘’DON’T GROW UP, IT’S A TRAP’’ The main inspiration for the collection Dont Grow Up It’s A Trap is a memory of childhood, past, tenderness, simplicity and femininity. There is a silhouette of the 60’s of the last century. Pastel colors such as pink, white, purple, grey, green, but there are also some darker colors such as dark purple, dark pink. Collection contains 8 outfits - hand-knitted sweaters, jackets, skirts, dresses, shorts high waist, blouses. Materials are - merino wool, artificial fur, patent leather, atlas silk, canvas, velvet, cotton, viscose. 2_‘’SOMETHING IN BETWEEN’’ On the crossroad of growing up and maturing, between child and women her childhood has just ended, and she has not grown yet, into a serious wоmen. Showing through her clothing that she belongs to a generation, the generation that is somewhere in between. This generation is allowed to explore and play through finding their own style. The collection is inspired by the silhouettes of the ‘end of the 20th century, just those that were created some significant subculture. The dominant period of glam rock, 70’s style, with all its glamorous visual characteristics, luxurious and flamboyant clothes, makeup, sequins... Used materials lurex, plush, velvet, artificial fur.

Maradu | Marija Dujovic has studied in Venice at the School of Fashion Design of IUAV. The brand was born in 2012 and in 2014 starts the first independent collection Do not Grow Up It’s A Trap presented at BaFe, Balkan Art Fashion Event. In 2015 Serbia Fashion Week opens with her collection the exhibition FASHION IS FUTURE.
KONY MIAMI “The initial inspiration for creating this collection was subcultures developed online. Their digital imagery draws largely from the 1990s early World Wide Web styles. So I connected the Sun, pools, palmtrees, supercars, the sea, the beach, strong and neon-colors with Florida, sunny state, and the capital Miami, City of extremes, clichés and excitement. Powerful Italian tradition and mentality are a big influence for changing cultural frameworks along the east coast of USA. I find the name KONY to be very important for that part of America: Connie Francis, Connie Corleone, Coney Island… For me KONY is symbol of everything Italian on the east coast. KONY MIAMI IS ABOUT: ACCEPTING differences, anxiety, origins, love, vulnerability LIFE full of surprises, inspiration and creation COLORS of Sun and Space, Of Earth and Heaven, of Joy and Divine”

KONY MIAMI | Marija Janosevic has a Masters in Fashion Design pursued in Belgrade. The collection presented for her degree has been selected to be presented at the 36th Perwol Fashion Week in Belgrade and Fashionclash Festival in Maastricht. In 2014 she receives the prize by the Association of Artists of Applied Arts and Design of Serbia.
STUDIO MANUFACTURA | NENAD STOJAKOVIĆ Studio Manufactura | Nenad Stojaković has a first degree in Biology and later learns in Florence the processing of manipulating precious metals and in 2010 the brand Studio Manufactura was born in Belgrade. His jewels are created to look like sculptures and from 2013 he also realizes true ones.

ATELIER HOME GALLERY Atelier Home Gallery organizes exhibitions and happenings at the historical home of a family of two artists, Roberto del Frate and Roberta de Jorio, presenting contemporary artists to investigate how artworks fit in a living space that has a more intimate feeling. Inside this living space there are two different realities: the gallery (hosting art exhibitions and industrial design showcases) and the Atelier of Roberto del Frate, where the painter gives life to his artistic visions. This “home gallery� is located at the third floor of the majestic Panfili Palace, built at the end of the XIX Century from the Panfili family, characterized by his amusing big spaces with a historic atmosphere. Going beyond the normal reach of a gallery, it offers painting courses, psychoanalytic talks, music events, video screenings and enogastronomic experiences.
