WELCOME
FROM THE EDITOR
visual feast NOVEMBER IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE months of the year in Atlanta. Taking in autumn’s fiery color palette feels far more indulgent when it’s accompanied by cool breezes, and you can practically smell the anticipation in the air. There’s nothing like a holiday as an excuse to get your house in order, and Atlanta’s creative set, from landscape and floral designers to showrooms and upholstery work rooms seemingly work around the clock to complete residential projects just in time for their clients to welcome and entertain family and friends alike. This month’s cover, a dining room inside a newly renovated residence by interior designer Liza Bryan and architect Ryan Duffey (page 50), is certainly a harbinger of that sentiment. Without even realizing the relation, we hired Bryan’s daughter-in-law, floral designer Holly Bryan, to create a showstopping arrangement using the client’s treasured epergne for our shoot. Keeping it “all in the family” might just be a metaphor for employing only the craftspeople who will flawlessly (and timelessly) execute design decisions for your home. There’s a similar sense of excitement in our office, as our mighty staff works at lightening speed to create a welcoming experience at our annual Home for the Holidays Designer Showhouse. This marks the ninth year Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles has produced this event, and the newly built house, located on promises to be among our most spectacular thanks to architecture firm Harrison Design and Sheehan Built Homes. Bring on the holidays!

THE MUSEUM OF DESIGN ATLANTA (MODA) explores the relationship between typography and visual art in its latest exhibition Text Me: How We Live in Language, on view through February 4, 2018. Curated by designer, brand strategist and host of the “Design Matters” podcast, Debbie Millman, the exhibition features objects and artwork by more than 60 artists and designers. “Our ability to communicate, to speak, to text and to write is what helps us define our world,” she says. “I think communication is a profound manifestation of the human spirit.” Millman worked with exhibition designer Susan Sanders to create the narrative of a livable environment, incorporating elements such as an oversized bed frame, a dining table suspended from the ceiling and a plush sofa. “The notion of being able to understand the world through words and language is something I continue to explore every day,” Millman says. “It’s something that has been a constant thread throughout my life, whether my own work or work I’ve been attracted to.” museumofdesign.org

ON THE MARK Mark Williams’ eponymous collection of tiles evokes a streamlined sensibility, thanks to clean lines and a uniform sense of chic. This fall, the line introduces eight new motifs FOR ATLANTA ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER MARK WILLIAMS, the discovery of water-jet stone mosaics—a minuscule segment of the tile market previously dominated by florid, feminine fashions—brought the opportunity to transform an industry. Having noted a dearth of strong, structural styles that were also moderately priced, in 2016 Williams decided to create his own: an eponymous collection totaling six successful iterations. Now for fall 2017, his follow-up release comprises eight additional motifs that telegraph chic via clean lines and masculine leanings. A few skew more classical, while others are undeniably modern—inspired by the pre-Deco design trends of the teens and twenties, art movements such as Cubism and the intrigue of a Peano curve. The results are at once stimulating and serene—and uniformly fetching for a bathroom floor, kitchen backsplash or accent wall. Mix-and-match-able, the mosaics are rendered in creamy marbles like Thassos and Bianco Neve, sooty volcanic rock, rich black porcelains and a taupe tone called Pallasandra, as well as an array of grays ranging from ice to Afyon. Mark Williams Collection is available to designers and retail consumers alike at trade pricing through new ADAC showroom Stonelluxe, where even the coordinating solids, ideal for room perimeters and shower walls, are always kept in stock. Plus, custom orders require a mere 10 weeks from order date, to manufacture in the Turkish factory, to delivery. markwilliams-design.com

Ansley Ghegan discovered design at an early age, and it has served her well. After honing her innate talent by working with noteworthy designers, she has discovered her own point of view, creating sophisticated but familyfriendly spaces filled with style and ease WRITTEN BY Alice Doyle PHOTOGRAPHED BY Sarah Dorio

hen trying to settle on a profession, many people take a few turns here and there, but for Ansley Ghegan, it was a straight path from the start. As a 6-year-old, one of her favorite activities involved cutting samples at Lewis and Sheron Textiles while her mother and grandmother shopped for themselves and their friends. They also took her along to ADAC on their frequent trips, and when Ghegan was only 8, her Christmas list included a sewing machine so she could make her own pillows. “I have always had a passion for design, art and creative endeavors from a very young age,” she says. “I still have shoeboxes filled with fabrics from my youth.” Just two weeks after graduating from the University of Georgia, Ghegan landed a position with Carter Kay and later worked for Beth Webb. “I learned so much from each of them—really invaluable knowledge about running a business, working with clients and developing my eye,” she explains. Now with her own firm, Ghegan is using that knowledge to help families create engaging and comfortable spaces. 20

She describes her style as transitional with an affinity for including pretty antiques to bring a layered look, using accessories with discretion and favoring a primarily neutral palette shot through with strokes of color. With three young girls, she’s also attuned to rooms that evoke sophistication but are still practical and child-friendly. Her new obsession is Crypton. “This fabric is amazing—it’s bomb proof—you can spill anything on it and it doesn’t soak in,” she says. “You would never know about the practicality when looking at it—there’s faux linen, chenille—really good-looking and -feeling finishes.” In the home of clients Bradley and Richard Soseebe, the designer’s signatures come through beautifully. Serene neutrals are infused with pretty shades of Bradley’s favorite blue. In every room, there’s something that engages the eye, like the loop-fringed ottomans from Bungalow Classic (a favorite resource) in the study/playroom, the barstools in the kitchen with an industrial vibe and the glass-front, weathered cabinet in the master bathroom niche. Ghegan is currently hard at work on her own home in Atlanta’s Meadowbrook neighborhood, which she and her husband, Dru, decided to tear down and rebuild from scratch. Her three girls may have some strong opinions when it comes to their rooms—the phrase “like mother, like daughter” will surely apply.
opposite, top to bottom The kitchen is a classic creamy white with glass-front cabinets; beams with a whitewash finish bring another layer of texture. The light-filled family room and dining alcove’s large windows flood the spaces with natural light. above This multipurpose space provides an upstairs play area for children and a spot for the family to watch the television, which is hidden in a cabinet. left and below The master bedroom includes a comfortable space to curl up with a book and take in the view outside. It’s accented with botanical prints the homeowner picked up at Scott Antique Market. “She favors neutrals and wanted the master bedroom to be an oasis of calm and relaxation,” says Ghegan.

NANCY One of the South’s most noted decorators explores the complex process of achieving simplicity WRITTEN BY Suzanna
Cullen Hamilton
The Foundation Nancy Braithwaite’s uncompromising penchant for crafting strong visual statements was established early in her career, when she designed department store windows. Braithwaite’s vignettes captured both the eye and the imagination of viewers. When she relocated to Atlanta in the late 1970s, Braithwaite designed the windows for Deanne Levison American Antiques. Her ingenious window creations, which merged period antiques with engaging witty notes, caused such a stir on Peachtree Road that distracted drivers triggered numerous accidents in front of the shop. “I’ve always loved to have a touch of whimsy in every interior, so I enjoyed creating unexpected vignettes with antiques that made people smile,” says Braithwaite. 22
Interior Expansion The focus of Nancy Braithwaite Interiors has always been on creating comfortable and functional interiors with a disciplined eye for scale and an unyielding demand for the best of every element. In her projects, Braithwaite works with top architects, so that every element of design is carefully considered for the proper light and proportion, from the architecture to the final details. A subdued neutral yet rich color palette is one of her signatures. She relies on a unique combination of antiques; contemporary furnishings; and rare, one-of-a-kind, handcrafted contemporary artisan wares to form interiors that meld periods, places, genres and mediums for unparalleled creativity. “I have a passion for interiors that transport, that captivate the senses and envelop the viewer with a bit of wonderment, but without excess,” says Braithwaite. The designer is renowned for her ability to pare down interiors while using well-designed pieces set within perfectly proportioned spaces. “I believe in simplicity; however, I also believe that there is nothing simple about the process or the result,” she says. Braithwaite’s projects have ranged from sublime Atlanta residences to tony penthouses in New York and Chicago to comfortably inviting second homes in Highlands, Kiawah and many other locales.

“I have a passion for interiors that transport, that captivate the senses and envelop the viewer with wonderment, but without excess.”
The Capstone In 2014, Braithwaite published Simplicity, her oversized interiors book that chronicles decades of her work, in which she refines form and function to achieve undiluted excellence. The book instantly sold out and required an immediate second printing.
The Horizon Braithwaite continues to design interiors and, through her travels, continues to find inspiration in the objects, places and people that propel her quest for masterful simplicity.

The 22-acre property has a 2,384-square-foot main house, called Mountain House Modern, and two guesthouses, including a tree house, which earned attention after the couple listed them on Airbnb in fall 2015. The structures are integrated into the site, a poplar forest that has three streams and two ponds, making it “approachable modern,” say Steven Bennett and W. Chester Old, who purchased the property in 2015. Old describes the architecture as playful. “It’s those subtle details that when you live in it, they start unfolding,” says Old. The property, located in Rabun County’s Betty Creek valley, is listed by Harry Norman, Realtors’ Luxury Lake and Mountain team.

Naomi Von Habersham RECENTLY, I RETRIEVED A BOX that I had squirreled away in one of my closets ages ago. You can imagine my thrill when I discovered old magazine articles featuring interiors assembled by Atlanta’s design greats of yesteryear, like Edith Hills, Ed Kilby and David Byers. At the time I clipped these articles (we’re talking the 1970s, ’80s and early ’90s), the designers’ work was the height of Atlanta fashion, but looking at these photos decades later, the rooms are no less ravishing—proof that these decorators knew a thing or two about creating timeless interiors. One reason these designers’ reputations have been left intact is that they were not known to fall victim to the design trends of their eras. That’s not to say some of them didn’t embrace chintz a little too enthusiastically in the 1980s, when the fabric was seemingly everywhere. But for the most part, they knew what worked and which decorations would stand the test of time, and the result was interiors that never screamed the decade in which they were created. The psychedelic colors and plastic furniture that were so popular in the early 1970s? Byers and his ilk never indulged in either. They wouldn’t have dreamed of it. Today it’s more difficult to avoid the latest fashions entirely, what with social media broadcasting them ad nauseam. But I will say that, more often than not, Atlanta designers and homeowners are adept at navigating a landscape pockmarked with dubious trends. Quality is paramount to many of us, which is at least a partial guarantee that our homes will maintain some degree of timelessness. So, too, is our steadfast affection for antiques, which have a way of providing rooms with everlasting appeal. In fact, I have a feeling that if I were to clip articles from this very magazine and put them away for a couple of decades, what I will likely find down the road are homes that look just as good in the future as they do today.

Live oaks gracefully frame Brannville Plantation, a home designed by architect Brandon Ingram of C. Brandon Ingram Design and built by Joe Noah of Noah & Associates. A circular driveway allows guests to be dropped off at the front portico as rocking chairs beckon. opposite The entry hall provides a first impression of the home’s classically inspired but fresh interiors. Given the foyer’s neutral base, Ingram took the opportunity to step up the millwork with elaborate cornices and ornate casings and pediments over doorways.

Upping its eclectic appeal is its color palette, in which rich ruby reds and cerulean blues are layered with more neutral tones of toffee and honey. left “When you have so many rooms that are open and grand, we wanted to create a space that was a little bit compressing,” says Ingram when describing the main gallery. “It saturates you visually and spatially with architectural detail and rich color.”

SITUATED IN THE RED HILLS REGION OF SOUTH Georgia, the main house at Brannville Plantation is as impressive as the pristine parcel of hunting land it anchors. On approach, the stately home quietly begins to reveal itself as a thoughtfully cultivated heirloom that celebrates Southern grace and gentility. The home’s story begins in 2012, when the estate’s owners, Joe and Fran Brannen, approached Atlanta architect Brandon Ingram. At the time, the Brannens were staying in the property’s hunting lodge (designed by renowned Southern architect W. Frank McCall

Jr.) but were seeking to build a larger home that could serve as a backdrop for entertaining and ultimately be passed down through generations. “From our very first meeting, it became apparent that they wanted to do something very fine, not a typical run-of-the-mill house,” recalls Ingram. Always favoring a team approach to design, he introduced the Brannens to landscape architect Carson McElheney and interior designer Mallory Mathison Glenn in the project’s initial stages. “They wanted a young team in place that could give them a 37

Beauty meets comfort in the dining room. While many of the room’s elements could read heavy on paper, such as the tapestrybacked velvet chairs or the handmade Dennis & Leen crystal chandeliers, Glenn brought freshness to the space with strategic splashes of saturated color. “The room is a good mix of old and new, bold and timid,” says Ingram, “a reflection of the clients, and South Georgia attitude in general.”

The kitchen opens directly onto the dining room and was designed to be every bit as elegant. This was accomplished through delicate fretwork details, white marble accents and unique brass lighting. The cabinetry was designed by Ingram and fabricated by Morgan Creek Cabinet Company.

She repeated the pattern on the drapery and chairs as a nod to historic English country homes.

classically rooted house that still felt very fresh,” says Ingram. “All three of us were under 35 at the time, and the Brannens really allowed us to prove ourselves by giving us full creative rein,” adds Glenn. “In an age where everyone is looking on Pinterest or Houzz and coming back with all these ideas, the Brannens said, ‘Show us your vision’ and trusted us to drive the whole process.” The team did not disappoint. McElheney began by extensively surveying the land and siting the home among a grove of centuryold oak trees. “I spent hours with Mr. Brannen and his son walking the quail woods to find that perfect placement. We came upon these majestic live oaks that now frame the house,” he says. Despite its grand proportions (24-foot columns greet visitors on the front portico), 45

the house never reads as overly imposing, a credit to Ingram’s skillful approach to the architecture. In a nod to the regional vernacular, he melded elements from a range of styles such as Federal, Greek Revival and Georgian, thus giving the home a quiet familiarity. “When you’re working on a home this large, every little detail matters,” he notes. Nowhere is this more apparent than at the home’s core, where he connected an open suite of spaces—living room, dining room and kitchen— through architectural delineations such as a graceful elliptical arch and column screen that also provide each room with a purposeful intimacy. This fine attention to detail was also paramount in Glenn’s design scheme. At the request of Fran—and inspired by Pebble Hill Plantation in nearby Thomasville, Georgia—each bedroom of the home was to be named and take on a personality of its own. Rising to the challenge, and simultaneously paying tribute to the Brannens’ passion for travel and nature, Glenn brought varying themes to life in spaces such as the Africa Room and the Bird & Thistle Room. The latter, featuring a luxe Brunschwig & Fils chinoiserie wallpaper, showcases the designer’s bold use of saturated color and pattern, a common thread she used throughout the home to give its historically inspired bones a fresh and youthful perspective. 46

above and left From the project’s onset, Ingram worked in tandem with Glenn, either accelerating or scaling back a room’s architectural detailing according to her design scheme. For example, pared-down spaces such as the Africa Room feature more ornate millwork. Here, the bed is recessed into an elliptical niche for added dimension. right Flora and fauna is a common theme throughout the home, a tribute to both the Brannens’ passion for hunting and the property’s natural surroundings. In the powder room, Glenn commissioned a hand-painted Gracie wallpaper that incorporates Cherokee roses, persimmon, butterflies, quails and other critters native to South Georgia.
47

All the while, McElheney continued to shape the verdant landscape. “It’s crucial to respect a site’s architecture and natural features. I would constantly arrive well before sunrise to study the light patterns that would dance across the gardens and the house,” he explains. The end result is a clean and classic landscape that complements the home’s timeless character. 48
Four and a half years after Ingram’s first meeting with the Brannens, the main house was ready to host family and friends. “It would have been a disservice to rush this project,” says Glenn. “The clients were incredible about gifting everyone on the team the time to create something spectacular.” It was indeed well worth the wait. The home’s abundance of historical references spills out onto the back porch, where a delicate balcony rail, inspired by the classic sheaves of wheat architectural motif, tempers the porch’s powerful composition. For the planters, McElheney gathered inspiration from drawings by Atlanta architect Philip T. Shutze dating to 1929.

AFTER SPENDING MORE THAN 30 YEARS AT A HOUSE in a notable Buckhead development, one homeowner decided it was at last time to shape it up for the 21st century. Initially, she and her husband wished to improve only the connection between the interior and exterior (including the pool, the patio and a now-octagonal porch), but as their designer, Liza Bryan, soon revealed, there was much more to be remedied. The kitchen layout needed improvement; the main level rooms deserved to relate to one another more appropriately; and there was a disconnect between the home’s anterior and posterior. “I remember telling them, ‘We’re going to touch every space in this house. It’s a great house, a great location, a great lot, but it needs total updating,’ ” says Bryan. “The front of the house was classic, almost Georgian in style,” says Ryan Duffey, the architect Bryan brought to the project, but the inside remained true to the architectural bones of its early ’80s roots. His plans for improv53

ing and refining the architecture included a smarter kitchen footprint, bolder cased openings between rooms and high-quality materials with low-maintenance benefits. Once the possibilities were clear, so was its potential, and Bryan and Duffey both give credit to the entire design-build team for the success of this project, notably builder David Childers of Macallan Custom Homes, metalsmith Charles Calhoun, landscape designer Alex Smith of Alex Smith Garden Design and Vintage Lumber Sales, which supplied and installed elements such as river-recovered cypress and antique oak beams (even once painted white, the old-growth wood retained its depth of character). “One of my favorite things is to whitewash or paint old beams. You get the texture and the grain, but the color is more integral to the color scheme than dark-stained wood,” says Bryan of the ceiling treatment in the kitchen and family room. Her work on the furnishings was just as complex a process as the interior architecture. Besides acquiring many elegant new pieces (Bryan’s favorites such as Holland & Company, Dessin

Among those retained from a lifetime of collecting were Queen Anne–style dining chairs and an antique console in the dining room, a honey-colored blanket chest in the master, a smattering of favorite china reimagined as wall decor and an epic collection of original photography. Though the husband considers himself a hobbyist, Bryan and Duffey are both quick to equate him with a professional artist. “He’s an avid amateur photographer and has so many incredible images of Africa,” says Bryan. “Their love for Africa and travel has played such a big part in their lives and the way they decorate their home.” In a previous house Bryan had designed for the couple, African accents were introduced in a straightforward manner. This time around, Africa appears most prominently in photographs: framed birds in the kitchen, giraffes in the friendly family room, sunsets and cityscapes in the stately living room. 57

Bryan designed whole rooms around these images—something we see reflected in the living room’s dark walls and the white kitchen’s tawny accents. Still, design moments like these became stronger with the architectural details designed to support them—namely, the millwork and cabinetry drawn by Duffey and executed by Morgan Creek Cabinet Co. Nowhere is this attention to detail more evident than in the foyer, where the home’s interior connects effortlessly with the American Colonial character of its façade. Extra-wide casement openings create a sense of prominence and place, while concealed custom cabinetry in the form of paneled walls in the living and dining rooms are outfitted with touch-latch openings, providing an invaluable amount of storage space. While the effect is striking, the purpose was far more practical: the living room’s dark-grey paneled walls, for instance, hold everything from flower vases to board games that the 59

grandchildren play when they come to visit; in the decidedly glamorous dining room, some of the cabinets are lined with Pacific Silvercloth for air-tight storage of silver and china. Upstairs, the bedrooms were furnished with several classic pieces—some of them heirlooms, others culled from a previous project Bryan completed for the owners—but Bryan was careful to create fresh showstoppers, including classic fabrics and crisp, custom linens for the beds. In the master bath, a formerly tight footprint was transformed into a light, bright space where every square foot was used sensibly. Waterworks fixtures add polish, while walls of mirrors bounce sunshine around the room. While redesigning this home may not have been a task for the faint of heart, the project’s design professionals did so with impressive finesse, a spirit of collaboration and an overall impression of ease. Because of their efforts, the Georgian flair of the façade is reflected in strong, stately interiors better suited to these homeowners than any new construction ever could have been. Essentially, it’s a house with an old soul and a new heart. See Resources, Back of Book.

WHEN ERIC AND MARY BUSKO DECIDED TO MOVE THEIR FAMILY of four into a newly built Chastain Park manse requiring loads of design decisions, they knew without hesitation that designer and Stanton Home Furnishings owner Jimmy Stanton—who had worked with the couple on previous projects—was the right man for the job. Mary, who has ties to the interior design industry herself, first discovered Stanton after seeing his work featured in an issue of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles. As fate would have it, she found out that Stanton’s Westside showroom was also a registered dealer of some of her favorite furniture manufacturers. She and Eric promptly enlisted him to design their mountain home in Sapphire Valley, North Carolina, and the rest, as they say, is history. “It’s just so fun to work with Jimmy because he’s always positive; he’s such a great person inside and out,” says Mary. “I feel lucky that he took us on again.”

The admiration was mutual. “I think we worked so well together with the first home, they let me have full rein,” says Stanton of this Chastain Park project, which required his input on everything from wood floor finishes and paint selections to important interior design decisions. The first order of business was to replace the existing front door with a wide expanse of metal floor-to-ceiling windows. To brighten the home’s dark exterior, Stanton gave the new brick a fresh coat of white paint, which was also applied to the exterior limestone, an 68
unconventional move that would ultimately prove to be one of the Buskos’ most-loved touches. When it came to the interior decisions, Mary found herself gravitating toward a minimalistic, white palette after looking to magazines and Pinterest for inspiration. Daunted by the idea of living in an all-white home, she was initially hesitant to trust her instinct, but Stanton convinced her to go with her gut, suggesting that they incorporate rich color in the more formal spaces, such as the walls of the dining room and the parlor on either side of the

home’s commanding entry foyer. “When you walk in the front door all you see is white; then to the left the dark gray dining room, and to the right, you see the dark khaki parlor,” says Stanton “They’re like two jewel boxes.” True to his word, Stanton kept the rest of the home white, which creates a bright, peaceful glow throughout thanks daylight stream70
ing in through to its multitude of windows. “We wanted a clean, fresh look, with all of the beautiful windows letting in bright light and greenery,” he says. This scheme is perhaps most evident in what proved to be the Buskos’ and Stanton’s favorite area of the home: the adjoining kitchen, living room and breakfast areas, which give the appearance

of a single, large living space. In the kitchen, Stanton replaced a standard window above the sink with a large iron-framed one that “completely changed the space,” the designer says. “I feel that simple, clean and classic is always the best.” Large, iron-framed windows also overlook the sprawling backyard and pool. “To me that’s part of the room,” says Eric. “There’s 72
something like 19 windows, so it’s very bright. I love how all three rooms all have their own personality, but they fit well together. It’s very lively and inviting.” Both designer and clients couldn’t be happier with the project’s outcome. “It’s a great house for entertaining,” says Mary. “We like to have bunches of friends over for dinner or music. Jimmy’s a gift in so many ways.” See Resources, Back of Book.

Westward, Whoa!
I
T’S NOT YOUR IMAGINATION: AUTUMN LIGHT IS different. The sun casts long, golden rays through richly colored leaves when the earth tilts in fall. We build roaring fires and plan extensive Thanksgiving menus while imagining our elaborately set holiday tables. A Southern Thanksgiving is a feast for the eyes and the taste buds. Roasted turkey, smoked turkey, fried turkey, glazed ham and Cornish hens are only the start of our epic feast day. Orange sweet potatoes, yellow squash and various greens complement the array of dressings. Pecans and pumpkins take center stage at dessert and continue the autumnal color palette of rich browns and russet oranges. Thanksgiving is a holy food day in the South, and we plan every dazzling culinary and visual detail to guarantee a sensory symphony. On the Left Coast, Thanksgiving is rather anticlimactic. The light never changes in Southern California, and the palm trees rarely drop a frond, much less offer a golden hue. It’s difficult to break out ocher, pumpkin and rust-colored
80
linens when the brilliant blue of the ocean is outside. Furthermore, an epic day devoted to eating is terrifying to foodfearing Angelenos because one extra serving of bread can set a person back weeks in training. And why would anyone waste time eating when there are waves to surf? Thanksgiving menus in Los Angeles read like a cleanse at a posh spa. Dry-roasted turkey served with a side of quinoakale salad and a roasted root vegetable slice constitute a luxurious meal in this tablespoon-portion town. Dessert is an anathema, so a Thanksgiving splurge might include one demitasse cup of vegan gelato or six berries of choice—no vanilla ice cream topping to be found in this zip code. The bright-green palm fronds against the deep-blue ocean are stunning in Los Angeles; however, at Thanksgiving, fires, football games, rustling leaves and luscious smells wafting from the kitchen hold my heart. I’ll gladly surf in January, but in November, the only place I want to dive into is a Southern Thanksgiving table.
EDWIN FOTHERINGHAM
The rich colors and luscious smells of autumn lure our Los Angeles– based Southerner back home for Thanksgiving

about the architect Harrison Design
Sheehan Built Homes
When he was 12, William H. (“Bill”) Harrison began working as a draftsperson in an architect’s office every summer and on Saturdays. By the time he entered the Georgia Institute of Technology, he was already more than familiar with the fi rst year’s architecture curriculum. After graduation, Harrison continued his education touring the architecture in Europe and the Americas.
Sheehan Built Homes has built their business on a foundation of honesty, integrity and quality. Their approach to the craft is as important as the craft itself— maybe more so. Patrick Sheehan—owner, founder and Georgia native—drives his passion for unique homebuilding into every detail of every project.
The tenets of classical architecture remain evident in every Harrison Design project. Even modern design must function, endure and delight. Harrison is determined to advance the creation of better places for people to live and gather. He believes society benefi ts when people interact to enjoy their environments and exchange ideas. Harrison is regularly invited to speak on a wide range of ideas and issues in architecture. harrisondesign.com

An increasingly sought-after homebuilder, Sheehan Built Homes recognizes that where you hang your hat is more than a place, be it a house or townhome. It’s a personal expression of the people who live there. Whether identifying the perfect site, remodeling a house or building a custom home from the ground up, their work has character: yours. sheehanbuilthomes.com
