Company Opening its Sixth Season with Fiddler on the Roof in October

After spending more than a year in New York City co-starring with Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster in the revival of The Music Man, Atlanta native Shuler Hensley is back on his home turf, directing City Springs Theatre Company’s (CSTC) season six opener, Fiddler On The Roof (October 6-22). CSTC (of which Hensley serves as Artistic Director) has been trying to get the legendary musical about Tevye the milkman and the Jewish experience in czarist Russia on its schedule for years. Particularly exciting is the production’s concept, which came from an unlikely source — the social media platform TikTok. “Our production of Fiddler On The Roof will be one of the most unique productions we have ever produced at City Springs Theatre Company,” says CSTC’s Executive Director Natalie DeLancey. “We discovered our Scenic Designer Jacob Olson on TikTok, where he creates and showcases

His Fiddler design puts a beautiful spin on a long-time classic while still keeping traditions and family front and center. Not only will we be building this production from the ground up, but it will be an imaginative design concept that has never been seen before!” In addition to its 3-week run in the Byers Theatre (located in the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center), the production will also be seen by nearly 4,000 area students via CSTC’s growing education initiatives. “Creating opportunities for young audiences to see important, historical shows like Fiddler On The Roof is part of our mission,” says Jenna Gamerl, director of education for City Springs Theatre Conservatory. “Developing audiences and arts supporters starts at a young age, and we at City Springs Theatre are thrilled to introduce this musical theatre classic to the next generation!”
