The Sky’s the Limit with Atlanta Master Chorale
It’s a cliché, “the sky’s the limit.” There are no barriers to our dreams and possibilities.
On October 13 and 14, Atlanta Master Chorale will take the stage in Emerson Concert Hall at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts to present a program featuring music of dreams and endless possibilities.
There is something about looking up at the sky that releases the wonder of our inner child. We ask, “Why is the sky blue?” “Where does the wind come from?” “Is there life on other planets?” “Where do I fit into the cosmos?” We all remember looking at fluffy clouds in a deep blue sky and discovering that the cloud-shapes looked like animals.
Beyond that, there is something inherently optimistic about sky-gazing. When life takes a turn for the better, we happily declare that “things are looking up!”
Our October concert will revel in the offerings of the morning and evening skies: wind, clouds, birds, rainbows, sun, moon, stars, constellations, and endless possibilities.
As the Air Force song says, “Off we go, into the wild blue yonder.” We hope you will join us in October for this launch into the limitless beyond of the heavens as we start our new concert season.
In our almost 40-year history, the Atlanta Master Chorale has come to define excellence in choral performance. Our 2023-2024 season showcases repertoire that is both meaningful and technically challenging. Future concert programs will be featured in upcoming ShowGuide editions. Experience Enchanting Fall Performances at the Center for Puppetry Arts
Ayoung African girl finds courage and compassion with her elephant friend, beloved Mexican folklore comes to life, a beautiful fish learns about inner beauty, a Halloween fan-favorite returns, and a horseman brings silly scares to the Center for Puppetry Arts this fall.
Don’t miss your final chance to see Aanika’s Elephants on stage now through September 3. Created by a cohort of Sesame Street writers and performers, this heartwarming tale follows Aanika, a young African girl who must protect her elephant friend, Little, and their herd from looming poachers.
Come see Mexican folklore spring into life in the delightful Brother Coyote and Sister Fox from September 6-24. Presented in both English and Spanish, this bilingual tale about Brother Coyote scheming to eat Doña Conchita’s chickens is foiled by the equally clever Sister Fox.
Witness a stunning metamorphosis from the inside out with The Rainbow Fish from October 4-15. Adapted from the beloved children’s book, the beautiful Rainbow Fish learns what true beauty is after a wise octopus encourages him to share his scales with others. Bring in the Halloween season with the return of the fan-favorite The Ghastly Dreadfuls (18+) from October 11-28. A “deadly” troupe of musicians, dancers, and puppeteers transport spectators into the realm beyond earthly existence as they present an array of eerie tales, chilling melodies, and infernal dances gathered from both nearby and distant sources. For ages 18+.
Finally, riding into the Center with silly scares for all ages is The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Silly Hollow from October 18-29. This audience favorite is a light-hearted take on the classic Halloween favorite that everyone will enjoy. Pack your Halloween with even more fun with our Monster Mash on October 28 where families can come for an indoor trick-ortreating event with games, a DJ, and more!
