AMERICAS AEROSPACE QUALITY GROUP (AAQG)

2022 was a year of re-orientation and transition for the AAQG. As we began putting COVID-related restrictions behind us, we returned to in-person meetings and re-established the Early Career Development Program.

Just as it sounds, the Early Career Development Program looks to engage new talent so we can benefit from fresh perspectives while also creating a solid foundation for the long-term sustainment of AAQG activities via knowledge transfers from our experienced members. We also continued the industry’s transition support to the new requirements governing our certification scheme.

Within the America’s sector, our Certification Oversight Team (ACOT) completed its internal reviews and the updates needed to meet the new requirements while assisting the transition and development of other entities that support certification. Additionally, we successfully supported the implementation of the AS9018 standard. Throughout 2022, 11 Certification Bodies (CB) supported more than 40 different Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) under the new process, demonstrating improvements in average closure times over data seen during the testing phases. The ACOT also administered the successful execution of the annual CB Report Card process that monitors performance and helps drive improvement for CBs within the sector. Finally, we held an auditor workshop where 120+ participants were provided with the latest updates on changes within our industry and learned about feedback from our sector’s key customers.
