PARLOR DOUGHNUTS

301 N. GREEN RIVER RD. EVANSVILLE, IN

So I want to start this off by saying I try to avoid doing reviews on chain restaurants, but Parlor Doughnuts started right here in our beautiful and humble city. And it has now blossomed into a national chain - and for good reason. This place just hits the mark 100% for me, from the stellar decor to the amazing food and drinks. If you haven’t had the chance to visit Parlor, you need to try them out as soon as you can.

On this occasion, as I walked inside Parlor there wasn’t a long line; usually it's much busier. One thing I truly love about this place is the open view into the kitchen. If you have followed my reviews before, this bold statement just speaks to me and how much they believe in their staff to keep a sparkling kitchen shown off to the public. I would also like to say that Parlor always looks immaculate. The light colors of the decor make the cleanliness of this store really shine. The staff greeted me promptly as I entered and gave me a chance to look over the amazing selection of the flaky doughnuts. I studied all the daily concoctions and the coffee menu to find my favorites on the day. Once I ordered they were quick to prepare everything and the coffee was out in just a couple minutes.

There's always one doughnut that I get and I leave the other up to my taste buds on the day. The Strawberry Cheesecake Doughnut is absolutely stunning and the fresh strawberry atop the cream is always a winner. So this is just a staple doughnut each time I visit, and on this day I also went with the Blueberry Doughnut, which was

another beautiful creation that danced on my tongue. After speeding through both of these doughnuts, I have to say I would actually rate the blueberry higher. The coffee was outstanding as well, and kudos to them for not serving it at 4,000 degrees to burn my tongue off. It was still hot, but I was able to sip through it immediately, instead of staring at it for an hour before I could enjoy it. As I mentioned before, the doughnuts here are wonderfully flaky - or as some will call them, cronuts - and the crispy outside is just the perfect exterior to a soft and fluffy inside. The icing/cream was extremely flavorful on both the cronuts I had, and the strawberry cheesecake cream has such a cheesecake flavor it truly and genuinely shocked me the first time I tried them. The blueberry icing just oozes blueberries and dances over your taste buds in an amazing blend with the dough. I would be hard-pressed to think of a better doughnut I’ve actually tried personally or even seen for that matter. When I say this place is special, I speak the honest truth.
