FR / Le ADAM [Brussels Design Museum] est un lieu dédié au design du
20ème siècle et d’aujourd’hui. Initié suite à l’acquisition de la collection du Plasticarium par l’Atomium, le ADAM porte un regard novateur et surprenant autant sur le design plastique des années 50 à nos jours [exposition permanente / Plasticarium] que sur les autres formes de design; toutes époques, matières et thématiques confondues [expositions temporaires]. Le ADAM, c’est également un auditorium de près de 400 places, un service éducatif et de médiation culturelle proposant une offre adaptée pour les enfants, les adolescents et les groupes scolaires, ainsi qu’un programme de conférences et projections en lien avec les thèmes explorés.

20ste eeuw en van vandaag. Het werd geopend na de aankoop door het Atomium van de verzameling [2000 stuks] van het Plasticarium. Het ADAM biedt een innovatieve en verrassende blik zowel op het plastic design van de jaren vijftig tot heden [permanente tentoonstelling/Plasticarium] als op andere vormen van design; alle periodes, vormen, materies en thema’s samen [tijdelijke tentoonstellingen]. Het ADAM heeft ook een auditorium van zo’n 400 plaatsen, een educatieve dienst en cultureel contactpunt met een aanbod op maat voor kinderen, adolescenten en schoolgroepen, en een programma van lezingen en projecties die verband houden met de verkende thema’s.
EN / The ADAM [Brussels Design Museum] is a space dedicated to design
from the 20th and 21st centuries. It was established after the Atomium’s acquisition of the Plasticarium collection. The ADAM offers an innovative and surprising insight on plastic design from the fifties to the present [permanent exhibition / Plasticarium] and on other forms of design through other periods, expressions, materials and themes [temporary exhibitions]. The ADAM, it is also an auditorium for about 400 people and an educational and cultural service with activities designed for children, teens and school groups. Lectures and screenings, in connection with the themes that are explored, enrich the museum’s program of activities.

PLASTICARIUM COLLECTION
FR / L’exposition permanente offre un regard original sur l’histoire des techniques, goûts et idées de 1960 à nos jours à travers l’exceptionnelle collection du Plasticarium composée de 2000 objets, tous en plastique. Face à cette collection, on renoue avec son passé proche ou lointain, on retrouve des sensations et réalise que ces objets sont autant le reflet de notre histoire personnelle que de l’Histoire qui les a engendrés.
NL / De permanente tentoonstelling biedt een originele kijk op de geschiedenis van de technieken, smaken en ideeën van 1960 tot nu dankzij de uitzonderlijke collectie van het Plasticarium, die bestaat uit 2000 plastic objecten. Deze collectie laat ons weer aanknopen met ons recent of ver verleden. Ze laat ons voelen en beseffen dat deze objecten net zo goed de weerspiegeling zijn van onze persoonlijke geschiedenis als van de Geschiedenis die ze heeft voortgebracht.
EN / The permanent exhibition
offers an original view of the history of techniques, tastes and ideas from 1960 to the present day, through the remarkable Plasticarium collection. This is composed of 2,000 objects, all made of plastic. This collection brings both happy reunions and rediscoveries! We re-establish contact with our near or distant past, we recognize former sensations and realize that these objects are both a reflection of our own personal history and of the History that gave rise to them.

GRAPHIC 58 [ADAM] + PODIUM 58 THE PEOPLE OF 58 [Atomium] FR / A l’aube des Golden Sixties, l’Expo 58 célèbre la paix retrouvée, l’humanisme et la modernité : l’Expo 58 a marqué les esprits et appartient depuis lors à la mémoire collective des belges. A l’occasion de son soixantième anniversaire, l’Atomium et le ADAM [Brussels Design Museum] explorent cet événement magique et glamour à travers un programme de trois expositions regroupées sous le titre générique de Galaxy 58.

Expo 58 made a striking impact and has become part of the collective memory of the Belgian nation ever since. To commemorate its sixtieth anniversary, the Atomium and the ADAM [Brussels Design Museum] will be exploring this magical and glamorous event with a programme of three exhibitions collectively entitled Galaxy 58.
