Editorial: The Harvest Moon
T
he harvest moon is the name given to the full moon which appears closest to the date of the fall equinox - the point after which daylight hours start to reduce. It is called a harvest moon because the moon rises around the same time every evening for a few nights in a row in the Northern Hemisphere. It offers ample moonlight in the early evening for farmers harvesting summer crops. The harvest moon is often the brightest full moon of the year because it occurs closest to the autumnal equinox. Symbolically, the harvest moon indicates that the summer is over, and it also acts as a lantern for the farmers and hunters who used to be on their way at night. Thus, there are multiple meanings attached to the harvest moon, but the most interesting ones (if you ask us) are that of a celebration of our crops (especially symbolically) and the notion that even in the dark, there is some light. These symbols are strongly tied to Christmas too. Therefore, in a time of darkness, we should always look out to the moon and not fear, since there is always a light that shines during dark times and, hopefully, a new bright season will arrive soon.

how one can layer a shirt and a sweater without looking lumpy. The first step in making sure that your shirt and sweater outfit will look good is to choose a fitted button-up shirt. A shirt that hugs the body well will sit better and won’t get lumpy. However, it is important to point out that a fitted shirt does not mean a shirt that is too tight. A shirt that is too small or too tight will most likely pop out of your pants and get lumpy or be overall uncomfortable, which is not what you want. The second step is to make sure that, while you are dressing up, you are fastening all the buttons, including the top ones and the cuff buttons. This way, the shirt will stay straight on your body. We also recommend putting the shirt on before your pants, so that you don’t have to fold it too much as you tuck it in. Now, you can also add any accessories you may want: shirt holding suspenders that buckle down on your legs, underbelts, etc. but these are only optional; you can get great results even without them. Then, you can put your sweater on. We would recommend a piece that has a regular fit. If it is a bit loose or relaxed, it is more likely to adapt better to the garment beneath it.
too much rumpling. Afterwards, you may open up the top button of the shirt if you want to. You can also pop the collar out if you prefer it that way. Finally, you can roll the cuffs of your shirt over the cuffs of the sweater to make the print of the shirt cuff visible. If you want to keep them inside, just pull on the shirt cuffs a little so they

Virgil Abloh: DESIGNER OF THE TIMES Text: Attire Club | Photo: Myles Kalus Anak Jihem, cropped, decolorized
His creations were admired by millions, and, as it would be expected, many public voices expressed their condolences upon the designer’s passing. It was also announced that his final collection for Louis Vuitton, the spring-summer 2022 collection, would be presented on Tuesday, 30 November in Miami at 5:30, per his wishes. The video for the collection, which was released a while ago, had a rather mortuary feel to it, which was probably Abloh’s way of concentrating on this being one of his last collections. “I feel like I’m writing a book with these collections,” he said at the time. In recent years, Abloh was also at the center of a very trendy scandal, after posting on his social media a screenshot showing that he had donated $50 to BLM and later posting a strong statement in which he expressed his disgust for those looting stores, claiming that they are worlds apart. After much criticism from loud voices, he expressed an apology, which was accepted by the masses who did not question anything about it. The LVMH group announced on 28 November the passing of the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collections, Virgil Abloh. A star of the millennial generation and king of luxury streetwear, American designer Virgil Abloh, creator of the Louis Vuitton men’s collections, died of cancer on Sunday, at the age of 41, as announced by the LVMH group, the parent company of Louis Vuitton. Virgil Abloh was born on 30 September 1980 in Rockford, Illinois, United States. A hip-hop fan, he began working as a high school D.J. before graduating in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin and architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology. In the early 2000s, he became an artistic consultant for Kanye West, advising him especially on the cover of his albums and concert sets. Abloh became the king of luxury streetwear, and soon enough, he established himself in a few years as one of the coolest designers of his generation. Awarded several times for his work, he was offered, among others, the prestigious “Urban Luxe” award at the 2017 and 2018 British Fashion Awards. He created Pyrex Vision in 2012, and a year later, Off-White was born, a luxury streetwear brand that imposed itself through the strength of its graphics and which later evolved into creations in the more “couture” area.
16 | InCompanytAttirehClub
The son of Ghanaian immigrants, Virgil Abloh was married and the father of two children, Lowe and Gray. The illness he had been battling for two years had not been made public. He chose to fight privately after his 2019 diagnosis of cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare malignancy located in his heart, according to his family, who offered details in a post on the designer’s Instagram account, adding that Virgil had undergone many difficult treatments. Virgil Abloh’s vision and clothes for LV and Off-White were very trendy and catered very much to hypebeasts and their wishes – it remains to be seen how the future will see these.

“Hark” is an intransitive verb that means to pay close attention. In today’s world, paying attention and being able to tell one thing from another is one of the most important skills. Critical thinking, clear judgment and a good understanding of the world are all skills that, in the coming months (and probably years) will prove themselves as essential in order to succeed.

BETWEEN TWO MOMENTS Everything is already undergoing a transformation process. The world as we see it today will not be the same as the world of tomorrow. Not only will the way the world looks change, but also the way in which we organize society will change. According to many forecasters, there is also great potential for a big spiritual awakening, but that remains to be seen.

A NEW ERA After a few years of Sturm and Drang, we will see a new world appear, little by little. There will likely be many things that will look new, but others will simply be a way of going back to a classic way of living, only updated for the 21st century.

HARMONIOUS EMOTIONS The renewal of the world can bring for many a spiritual awakening, which also implies that there will also be a great deal of fresh emotions coming to the surface. However, at the same time, the opposite seems to hold true.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION People will gather in new communities and will try to contribute to them. However, many of these communities will be formed based on need and not on shared values, which will lead to a very early break-down and fall for most of them, which will lead to a continuous societal fragmentation. Those groups that will form on the basis of shared values and virtues will last.

THOUGHT EXPANSION A new era, which will bring many new ideas and technologies will also bring a thought expansion movement. Many things that today are considered niche, taboo or folklore will make it to the mainstream, as we will expand our understanding of the world, of ethnics and of organizing culture.

BRINGING DENIM INTO YOUR EVERYDAY STYLE Photos / Text: Attire Club
sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum between sportswear and suits. Denim is a prime candidate to visit, as the classic material has quite the newly discovered versatility when it comes to being dressed up or dressed down. There are many ways to incorporate denim into your everyday style, regardless of whether you’ll be spending it at the office or at a casual outing. You might want to start by looking at different types of denim and how their respective looks might fit into the varied elements of your lifestyle.
Understanding Different Types of Denim Over time, denim styles have evolved, and knowing what’s out there can help to inform your fashion choices. Here are some common styles you might want to consider incorporating into more of your looks: Stonewashed. Probably the type of denim you recognize most, and perhaps the most classic. Durable, comfortable, and processed in a way that creates a worn, faded appearance; stonewashed denim is your go-to for a casual, relaxed look. Dark denim. Another common denim look, this is exactly what it sounds like: a darker navy blue colored denim, without the distressed or worn effects found in stonewashed denim. Easily integrated into almost any type of look, in any season, this should certainly be a staple in your wardrobe. Waxed. With a wax treatment coating the denim, the resulting look is sleek, black, and polished. Perfect for bordering the line between dressy and casual, waxed denim might be the right choice if you’re looking for a little extra something to make your look a bit more striking. Stretch. You’re probably familiar with “skinny jeans”, made with stretch denim. While stretch denim doesn’t have the more rugYou might not often think of denim beyond your favorite pair of casually worn ripped jeans. However, there’s a lot more to denim than you might think, as the material is used for much more than just your typical pair of jeans nowadays, and can be a focal point in a variety of looks and outfits. Not Just for Cowboys Anymore Though Men’s Journal notes that denim has long been an iconic symbol of blue collar, greaser, and cowboy wardrobe in pop culture, updated styles and trends have brought denim into the realm of more formal and polished wear. In fact, many menswear designers are currently taking a closer look at fabrics that

ged or classic look of regular denim, it can add a more contemporary and elegant flair to an outfit. Paired with dress shoes and a button-down shirt, slim fit denim jeans are the perfect choice for a night out at a club, or even a fancy dinner. Skinny jeans are certainly not just for women anymore, but you must always make sure they fit you right and are not too tight. Selvedge. This type of denim is thicker than most, and after repeated wear, they’ll lose their stiffness and begin to look as if they were made just for you. Though this type of denim isn’t for everyone due to how heavy and stiff it is, the eventually payoff is great, and selvedge denim jeans are an excellent choice to pair with dress shirts and blazers for a polished look.
paired with other denim pieces in the same outfit, making examples of superstar Robert Pattinson’s look in a light blue denim top with jeans in a darker wash, and model Jack Vanderhart rocking a blue sweater over a denim shirt with jeans. As long as the hues work together well, you should have no qualms about experimenting with looks that combine different pieces of denim. Denim jackets are also back in style, and more versatile than ever. With the variety of different denim choices as outlined above, it’s easier than ever to find a denim jacket to experiment with fitting into your style. You can actually wear a denim jacket over a hoodie, or layered with other jackets and blazers. You might want to even try using a denim jacket as a standin for a blazer, and wear it over a tee shirt or over an oxford shirt with a knitted tie.
In closing, there aren’t many materials out there that can be considered tough, classic, elegant, and versatile all at once. This is only a small look at denim and how it’s currently trending in the fashion world. Check out what’s out there, and make it work for you.
Not Just for Pants Denim shirts might remind you of the 90’s or seem like a generally unfashionable choice, but this is simply not true! A look

at current fashion trends will quickly tune you in to the fact that denim shirts can be exceedingly stylish and attractive when paired with the right pieces. A perfect example of how denim qualifies as an upscale fashion choice is the luxury line of VKNagrani men’s designer shirts. Club a piece of it with a pair of slacks and dress shoes, or even with a knitted tie or blazer. You can also dress down denim shirts like these by wearing them open over a white t-shirt, or with a pair of khaki shorts or chinos in the summer.
