Editorial: Christmas is Calling

Christmas is an important holiday for many people around the world. It is a time for family, friends and loved ones to come together to celebrate, exchange gifts, and create lasting memories. Christmas is also a time of giving, when people come together to help those in need and contribute to their communities. It is a time of joy, peace and reflection, when people take time to appreciate what they have and give thanks to those they love.

For millions of people, Christmas is strongly associated with winter. Winter is a powerful and essential season in the cosmic cycle of life. It brings an end to one cycle of life, and is the herald of a new season of growth. Winter is a time of respite, reflection, and renewal, and it is essential to the health of the planet. Winter is a time of death and dormancy, allowing for the natural regeneration of the world around us, and in doing so, contributes to the cosmic balance of the Earth. The cold weather and snow of winter are necessary for the natural processes of the planet to take place, and the winter season is essential to the maintenance of the Earth’s delicate ecosystems.

The cosmic connection between winter and Christmas is a beautiful thing. During this time of year, the world is full of magic and wonder. A LOOK AT THE DIFFERENT DRESS SHOE TOE CAP STYLES

Shoes are one of the sartorial elements to which any man should pay attention. A pair of shoes can complete or ruin an outfit. These days, it can be very useful for men to own more than just one pair of dress shoes. And, while you might know the main things that differentiate brogues, derbies oxfords, loafers and monk shoes, there are more details to learn about these styles.

For example, did you know that there are many types of shoe toe cap styles, which can be applied to the different designs of shoes, therefore changing their whole aspect? Each toe cap style has its own personality and describes its wearer, which is why it is very important to know the different styles and to choose exactly the one you like and feel that it represents you.

Sometimes however, it can be hard to search for good shoes, as there is such a wide variety of shoes to choose from. This is why we recommend taking a look at both small shops and e-shops that feature shoes, and to go through to websites and stores that feature a wide series of shoes, so that you can have a wide view over what is available.

So, now that you know that there are several styles of shoe toes and where you can find a big variety of shoes, let’s take a look at the main types of shoe toes and their characteristics:

Plain toe

Plain toes are the cleanest style of toe style. Shoes that feature plain toes are very elegant, sophisticated and considered very formal in terms of design. Note that, even if a shoe has a plain toe, it can still be casual due to its colors or fabrics. A shoe’s formality is a combination of the upper construction (oxfords are the most formal) and how plain the toe is –the more plain, the more formal. High shine and patent finished tend to be considered more suitable for partier rather than formal events.

Regardless of the type of

dress shoe, plain toe means that the shoe has no brogue or toe cap detail.

Toe cap

A shoe that has a cap toe is usually a very versatile shoe. This style features an extra piece of leather on the toe. They feature on oxford and derby styles though perhaps more commonly on oxfords. Toe cap oxfords are acceptable as formal attire, but are best suited with business environments.

Brogue or wingtip (wingtip is the US term for brogues)

Wingtip shoes feature a pointed toe cap that extends on each side of the shoe. You can identify these shoes as they have a W or M design, depending on how you look at them. Wingtips are the most versatile type of shoes, especially if they come in an average shine. If you are a one-pair-of-shoes man, you should definitely go for a high-quality pair of wingtips, as they can be worn with anything from jeans to dress pants.

Semi brogue

A semi brogue shoe is a derby or an oxford with a perforated and mostly serrated toecap edge. This edge has decorative perforations in the center of the toe cap, but unlike a wingtip shoe, no W (or M) design.

Quarter brogue

A quarter brogue shoe is the same as a brogue shoe, but that features no perforations in the center of the toe cap.

Longwing brogues

Longwing brogues are similar to wingtip shoes, as they feature a pointed toecap with a brogueing which extends to the rear of the shoe, meeting at the center seam of the shoe’s heel.

Tassels

Tassels are common on loafers and other slip-on shoes. Many men consider shoes with tassels to be a faux-pas, but we say, if you like them, you should definitely go for it!

Kilties

Kilties are an embellishment you will sometimes find on dress shoes under the form of leather affixed on the vamp of the shoe. Kilties can be added to any type of shoe and are very hard to pull off. You always need to make sure the kilties are not too big or too small – it is essential for them to be proportionate to the rest of your clothes, to your accessories and to your body size. Surely, this rule can be broken if you want to make a bold statement.

Now that we have broken down the different types of dress shoe caps styles and embellishments, you will have a better outlook on the world of men’s shoes and will make better choices. Remember, the rule of thumb when it comes to clothing in general and to shoes in particular is that they need to fit you well and that they always need to be occasion-appropriate.

DEBATE: GLASSES OR CONTACT LENSES?

Many people are faced with the fact that they need some help for their eyes. To make sure that you treat your eyes with the best care, you must make the best decisions. Sometimes, one of the choices that have to be made is whether you wish to wear glasses or contact lenses.

However, it is important to note that sometimes purchasing glasses or contacts online can be tricky and is not always recommended, which is why you must do your research first very carefully and to always check with a doctor on the products you buy.

If you buy sunglasses or colored contact lenses, which are meant to have just a stylistic effect, you can go for them more easily, but this does not mean that you should not check with a doctor and do your research as sometimes even sunglasses can have a negative impact on your sight.

If you want to weigh in the pros and cons of glasses and contacts, it is important to think of a few things.

Firstly, it needs to be said that one is not “better” than the other, they are simply alternatives.

Glasses

Glasses have the advantage that you can put them on and take them off whenever you need them. Therefore, if you only need glasses on certain occasions, it might be better to go for them. Also, never placing them directly on your eyes means that you won’t end up with infections.

As a disadvantage, glasses can be more uncomfortable than contacts. You will feel them on your nose and ears and they will make certain activities such as sports or running harder.

The third aspect, which relates completely to aesthetics is very volatile, as it depends from case to case. Some people don’t look very good with glasses on, while others wear glasses only to look great. Therefore, if you decide on wear -

ing glasses, you should get a pair that frames your face well. Briefly explained, for a safe bet, you should go for a shape that goes in contrast with your face: people with very round faces should go for square glasses and vice versa.

Contacts

Contacts have as their main advantage that when you put them on, you will have the most natural view possible, more than glasses can offer. There are no distortions and no frames in sight. Also, contacts never create a flare, which can happen with glasses.

The disadvantage of contact lenses is that they are high maintenance if we compare them to glasses. You need to take them off in the evening, put them on in the morning and make sure you use a special solution to clean them. This makes them less advantageous for people with a lifestyle that is unpredictable and on the run.

Another advantage of contacts is that once you put them on, you won’t lose them. Many people who wear glasses often misplace or lose them. The downside, again, is that if you leave them on for too long, you might get an infection. This is an important aspect to take into consideration, especially for people who travel a lot or who are working a lot.

In conclusion, it can be said that the choice of whether glasses or contacts are better should be made in accordance to your needs. Your lifestyle and personality is probably the best tie breaker between the two. However, to make that decision, you must consider a few things because you want to make sure that you will get the best out of your contacts or glasses.

In the end, you should also make a wise stylistic choice, as the color of your contacts and the color and shape of your glasses can have a tremendous impact on the way you look and on the way you feel about yourself, so always make sure that your choice makes you comfortable and confident.

As with any party, your outfit is a very important part to help you feel great and enjoy yourself.

Here are some quick ideas you can use to look really cool this Christmas, with little effort.

Festive fabrics

Whether it’s Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or any of the Days of Christmas, you don’t really have to dress up a lot differently than you would dress up for a regular party. A nice suit, dress shirt, and pants that fit well are going to frame your body well and make you look your best. However, to glam up your look, you can go for more festive fabrics. Velvet for example is a very rich fabric that turns a simple design into something worth wearing to a party. If you are not all in on wearing fancy fabrics, you can chose to wear just accent fabrics on your looks. Think for example of a sequins lapel. For a full on stunning effect, you can even go for a velvet jacket with an accent sequins

lapel.

Festive colors

To mix it up, you can also think of choosing brighter or just unexpected colors in your looks. There are many colors that we associate with Christmas easily: red, dark blue, white or pearl, deep emerald green are all Christmas-appropriate colors. You can also add shine with metallics such as gold or silver, as these will add depth and visual interest to your look.

Accessories

We all know that accessories can make or break an outfit and that they can truly set the vibe for a look. So, even if you are not doing anything else special for your Christmas party look, you can add a few accessories to ring in the holiday. These don’t need to be a Santa Claus tie or anything, but simply adding something more festive will work. Through dream interpretation, we can gain a better understanding of our own needs and emotions, enabling us to make better decisions and have a more fulfilling life. Listening to our dreams can help us to better navigate the challenges that life throws our way and to be better prepared for the future.

With its all-star cast, stunning visuals and captivating story, The Sandman is sure to be a must-watch for comic book and fantasy fans alike.

The tale of the Sandman follows the journey of Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, who was held captive by a wicked wizard a century before. Upon his release, he discovers that his kingdom has been destroyed and the dreams and nightmares he once controlled have been unleashed on the world of mankind. To reclaim his authority, Morpheus must battle his way through Hell and back, while also attempting to find faith in humanity again. Along his quest to regain his stolen powers, Lucienne (Vivienne Acheampong) the librarian and raven Matthew (Patton Oswalt) assist him. In his encounters with Lucifer (Gwendoline Christie), The Corinthian (Boyd Holbrook), and a gender-swapped Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman), Morpheus is forced to face difficult tasks of fate, deception, and heartbreak. Although it is not the best thing ever, it is not the worst either.

The Sandman is a captivating show that offers a gothic world of delights for fans of the dark. Though it may be a bit too dark for some, the series is a funny and seductive mix of myth, magic and modern fears. It’s a great show for those in their early 20s, as the richly layered realm of fears and fantasies taps into their imaginations. Though it may not reach the heights it dreams of, The Sandman is still an enjoyable experience.

The Sandman is for sure a captivating series, with a complex mythology and an interesting approach. What is most fas -

cinating about it, however, is what it says about our society and the times in which we find ourselves. This TV show comes at a time of high non-religiosity and atheism in the world. And yet, it has all the ingredients of a magic, religious worldview: There are concepts and entities that are embodied as people (even though they at the same time are an all-encompassing energy), and the relations between them and the actions of the people on Earth determine what goes on in the world. It’s quite strange how we live in a world where this makes perfect sense in a cultural work, and yet, such concepts, if proposed in any way as close to reality, are dismissed as stupid and ludicrous. Looking at the bigger picture, one cannot help but notice that this phenomenon actually extends to all of society: In our world, everybody knows what gnomes look like, what elves are like, we know all about trolls and witches, vampires are the talk of the cultural town, faeries and goblins are things we see portrayed and illustrated at every street corner and deities can be seen at every turn; and yet, if anyone dares to include these or other such concepts in their dayto-day life, it is considered that they are a lunatic, a bigot and some sort of messed up person. Never in history has there been before a time when the daily culture and what was socially acceptable has been in such great contrast. This is why, it may be safe to say that, soon enough, we will re-incorporate these elements back into our lives for real –people’s need for religious and spiritual participative narrative rituals is too strong (see cosplay), and thus, these may make a come-back soon, for a while at least.
