Words by Louise Brown of Iron Fist Magazine www.ironfistmag.com

Shock! Horror! The ultimate ghoul WEDNESDAY 13 is back and planning his biggest year ever. With 2013 around the corner would we expect anything else from LA’s most morbid? But first we have Halloween to prepare for and Wednesday has got a trick and a treat in store for his fans. “I can’t give away what we’re going to do,” comes the teasing taunt, despite pressure from Attitude to get him to spill the beans. “It’s going to be a really unique show though!” Goth icon and horror fanatic Wednesday 13 is talking about his upcoming Halloween show. On October 31 he will be taking over the Koko Theatre in London’s Camden to put on a concert that promises to be ghoulishly good. “I’ve never dressed up other than as myself on stage so we’re doing a really cool costume theme that I think is going to take people by surprise. I’m really looking forward to it and I think it’s going to be perfect. What better way than to spend Halloween in London! There’s always such a great turn out and audience there, so I expect it to be awesome. And it’s Halloween night, I can’t fail on Halloween! That’s my day!” The Murderdolls frontman and outrageous star in his own right has been busy this year and the Halloween show will be a culmination of 2012’s devious plans to make 2013 one hell of a year. Having just put the finishing touches to new EP ‘Spook And Destroy’ Wednesday admitted that, ‘If I don’t release an album

or an EP every year I feel as if I’m not doing my job. It’s a little fun, something to tide people over until the end of the year.” However, the thing he’s most proud of right now is forthcoming aç, set to be titled ‘The Dixie Dead’. “2013 is my year,” he laughs. “I’m looking forward to that being my busiest year. We just finished doing the full-length. It’s definitely heavier and more darker in direction but still with my sense of humour. I’m super excited about it and it’s fired me up to do more things and keep myself busy. I set out to make my best record in 2013 and I think I’ve done it. I’m sat here listening to it now and in my mind I’ve just made the best thing I’ve ever done. “I’m actually working on a movie idea at the minute too,” he admits. “So, yeah I’ve got a lot of tricks up my sleeve”. A movie? “I don’t mean like a big production,” he insists. “I’m gonna make something that represents what I’ve done over the years; it will be a cheap, dumb, horror b-movie. I’ve been writing songs that could be for a horror movie for 16 years now so it’s finally time for me to sit down and actually make a movie.”

It makes perfect sense, after all Wednesday lives his life like a classic horror character. Whether he’s going to the supermarket or off to McDonalds he’ll be spotted in his trademark black. You’re not going to catch this guy in a tracksuit any time soon. Wednesday is Wednesday 24/7! “I might not be wearing my white face paint or my fur coat but I’ll be wearing my Lip Service clothes,” he admits about his everyday style. “I’ve been wearing Lip Service for years now so I’m pretty much always in a black T-shirt, black jeans with a black jacket. I’m the man in black!” And what about onstage? “I’m constantly changing, as soon as I see anyone remotely doing something close to what I do stylewise or if I see the audience starting to dress the way I do, obviously I get flattered, but I feel like it’s time to do something else. I’m constantly trying to reinvent myself and do different things. Last year my stage gear wasn’t so tattered. We started to wear suits onstage, but even now we’re switching that up. Now we’ve got more ‘gothified’ suits. We have a friend doing all our clothes and we’ve taken last year’s clothing and said ‘well, these look nice, but can you make us look like we’ve been buried for ten years?’. So that’s this year’s look.” And as for his fans? “I absolutely expect my fans to dress up, I always do, but particularly on Halloween! When I played in London on Halloween in 2008 the outfits that really struck me were a group of people dressed as KISS. They are one of my favourite bands so to see four people dressed up as them meant a lot. I like to be surprised. It’s Halloween, come on, scare me!”

As summer turns to autumn and the days grow shorter, a band of gentlemen are gearing up for their busiest time of year: All Hallows’ Eve when the moon is fat and the ghouls and ghosts walk among us. The setting is the lavish old Victorian ballroom of what used to be one of the grandest hotels in town, tucked away in the most unlikely spots in the depths of north London. Now a pub on a siren stricken high road, where the worst sorts lurk and you’re best to keep an eye over your shoulder…we’ve got a date with some Killers… Fearless Vampire Killers are a band on the verge of very big things. Hard working, fuelled by blind ambition, raw talent and the determination to succeed; FVK have propelled themselves to cult level in the UK. About to embark on all sorts of Halloween mischief, including a headline tour and an illustrious support slot with Wednesday 13, Fearless Vampire

Killers are ready to slay this October… “We celebrate Halloween a lot really” explains Kier (K). “This tour is kind of like a big Halloween celebration culminating in a big Halloween explosion!” Lawrence (L) continues: “Where we come from it’s like the countryside so it’s quite an eerie place. We grew up living opposite a cemetery…Drew couldn’t walk past it until he was about 14!” “It freaked me out!” laughs Drew (D). L: “We’re playing a gig at KOKO with Wednesday 13 who are pretty much Halloween in a band”. D:“And we’re like Halloween in a bottle so it goes together quite nicely”. L: “Playing the KOKO’s gonna be amazing, it’s gonna be the biggest indoor gig we’ve ever done. We used to do a show in Camden once a month, at Tommy Flynn’s opposite KOKO and just look at it like it couldn’t be

further away. We never thought we’d get to the point where we’re playing there… so its pretty crazy”. K:”Everyone’s really excited about it… we are”. D: “I still can’t quite believe it’s happening!” The band are set to play their biggest indoor show to date supporting the spooky ex-Murderdoll on Halloween night. This show is shrouded in mystery with both Wednesday 13 and Fearless Vampire Killers sworn to secrecy about what’s set to go down. K: We’re not allowed to tell you about all the plans… D: I dont even know all of them! K: We’ve got a few options that we can’t talk about because they are too hush-hush. D: Either way expect sexy results! However, the band have got to make it there in one piece first! FVK are coming to a town near you… K: “We are headlining the country… apart from Scotland and Ireland...so not really the entire UK - but most of it!”

L: “We’re basically playing the whole of October so it’s kind of like a build up to Halloween really.” “Every year we blog every day in the month of October leading up to Halloween, about all the Halloween stuff we love… so obviously it was a perfect time for us to go on tour. We’ve also got a lot of amazing stuff happening at that time so it’s going to be pretty hectic…we don’t really have any days off I don’t think.” “We’re going out with our friends The Dead Lay Waiting which is like another perfect [band] name for this tour which is called “The Killing is Dead Tour” - which is kind of like a really bad pun: ‘Killing is Dead’… So don’t kill - be nice to each other!” Catch the FVK guys at a town near you this October. For the full interview and more details about the tour and how to get tickets, head over to www.youtube.com/attitudeclothing or scan the QR code at the top of this article.

Ash Ghoulmore is the lead inspiration behind the horror clothing brand Kreepsville 666, an underground cult brand with a thirst for blood, zombies and all things horror. Hailing from the north east of Scotland, the label was started in 2006 by fright fanatics Ash and Michelle Ghoulmore and Kreepsville quickly blew up to become an instantly recognizable addition to the alternative fashion realm. Often imitated but never duplicated, Kreepsville 666 is the “Original Scare Wear” and a must have for any horror loving rock and roll fan. Mr. Ghoulmore is a truly unique character. He lives and breathes the spooky lifestyle, and in todays fad driven culture it’s refreshing to meet someone so authentic. “From an early age I was always cutting, customising and re-styling clothing off the peg and it kind of grew from there. I have my own way of doing things. I like to think that comes across in Kreepsville”. Taking inspiration from classic horror movies such as “The first Frankenstein, the original Halloween and Evil Dead” we asked Ash how he comes up with Kreepsville’s designs… “Basic ideas generally come from my own head which is a messed up kind of place. I usually start off with a few sketches, show them to my partner Michelle and she lets me know if she likes where we’re going with it” he explains. “Whatever you put into your head you get out of your head and I put nothing in but horror!”.

With the new Kreepsville 666 collection dropping at Attitude Clothing this Christmas, we asked Ash what we’ve got to look forward to. “I’m extra happy with our new zombie hands. They’ve come out really nice…a nice sculpt, lots of bulging veins and very scummy looking - they look really good.” “We’ve also started a new Elvira range which is quite fun. Elvira is someone that I grew up watching and now I’m working with her which is a nightmare come true you know!” The ever increasing popularity of Kreepsville 666 is clear, and with the couple seeing a growing demand State-side, The Ghoulmores have taken their spooky selves to Californ-I-A to unleash their brand of authentic horror apparel. “We’ve moved to LA but I think that our horror vision is universal, or even multi-versal. I like to think it hasn’t changed us too much, maybe just added

to Kreepsville a little bit, not dampened things down”. Obviously the weather in LA is a little different from Aberdeen, Ash admits - “Sometimes it’s a little too hot for me, being from the north east of Scotland I like a bit of rain sometimes and even some grey clouds. You never see them in California EVER”. Keep an eye out for the new range of Kreepsville 666 at: www.attitudeclothing.co.uk Don’t forget to sign up to our mailing list so you’re the first to know what’s new at Attitude HQ.
