Creative Events Management
THIRD YEAR LIVE EVENTS APRIL 2017
Creative Events Management
Live Event 3 April 2017 Each year students on the BA(Hons) Creative Events Management course at AUB are expected to produce a live event as part of their studies. By this stage of the course students will have a good body of experience in staging live events and responding to creative briefs. They will also have strong technical and organisational skills, including planning, marketing, finance and fundraising. The Live Event 3: Major Project unit is an opportunity for students to deliver a team project of their own devising. This unit is designed to challenge and to provide an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to analyse, interpret and respond to a complex body of knowledge and practice. The project is expected to have high creative values, to be pushing at the boundaries of industry practice or, alternatively, to engage with the community and involve the students in something they might not have experienced before, either as spectators or as participants.

The R.A.W. Project Saturday 22nd April The focal point of this event will be the unveiling of a 190 metre squared mural, delivered by renowned local artist Miroslav Lucan (Lucan Art). The piece will hold a 10-year legacy and aims to be a cultural landmark for Bournemouth. Alongside the unveiling of the mural, the event will include creative drop-in workshops, a multimedia art exhibition and silent auction, live music and guest talks offering advice to aspiring creatives who will soon be entering working life. The R.A.W Project aims to serve the local creative community by providing a platform for art and creativity to prosper. With this project, we aspire to add to the existing creative scene within Bournemouth and leave behind a cultural legacy. This project is about promoting Bournemouth and the creative people who occupy it. We are working with local organisations South West Artwork and Flux Framing to ensure high quality production throughout our project. Having already collaborated with Virgin Media and Kev Munday to create two public art pieces in the centre of town, and worked with contributing local artists to sell prints and stickers for the event, this finale will be a fantastic way to showcase the entirety of our project. https://www.facebook.com/twpbournemouth/ https://twitter.com/twp_rawproject https://www.instagram.com/r.a.w_project/

Signals Sunday 23rd & Wednesday 26th April ‘Signals’ is a pop up multi-art-form exhibition that incorporates immersive performances to explore the topics of consent, sexual assault and the positive and negative sides of sex. The thought provoking artwork featured within ‘Signals’ has been sourced from a range of talented local and international artists, whose work includes photography, sculpture, illustration and installation. ‘Signals’ is a free event and will be hosted in two different locations throughout two evenings; the first will be hosted in Canvas, Bournemouth on the 23rd of April. The second will be hosted in AUB’s Drawing Studio, Poole, on the 26th of April. We hope to break down the taboos surrounding sexual assault, consent and sex to enable young people to speak about their experiences in a safe space, without the shame and judgement that these issues are often associated with. We want to open up a dialogue with the community, take action and address the grey area surrounding the issues of sex and consent while offering our audience the support that is available to them throughout the Dorset area. With guidance and support from Safer Poole Partnership and Dorset Rape Crisis Support Centre, we aim to deliver these topics in a way never done before in Dorset.

A.L.I.C.E. Friday 28th April Loosely based on the theme of Alice In Wonderland, A.L.I.C.E, will be an event to raise awareness for mental health and to tackle the stigma attached to it. Another key aim of the event is to act as a fundraiser for local Bournemouth based charity BCHA, specifically raising money and awareness for their mental health department, SMILE. The event will be held on the evening of Friday the 28th of April 2017 in the setting of Athelhampton House in Puddletown, Dorset. The evening will consist of an immersive theatre piece, exploring Alice’s journey through Wonderland and her relationship with family members, whilst subtly hinting at emotions felt by a person suffering from various mental health disorders. A three-course meal with informative and inspirational talks, evening entertainment, and a silent auction will follow the show, to help raise money.
