ADELPHI WOMEN’S LACR OSSE
The Northeast-10 Conference The Northeast-10 Conference is an NCAA Division II conference that was established in 1979. The conference consists of 15 member institutions located throughout the Northeast in the states of Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. With the addition of women’s golf in 2014-15, the NE-10 now sponsors a total of 24 sports.
championship of 2015-16 by finishing the 400 in 51.32, just .03 seconds shy of the meet record. The very next day, Le Moyne defeated Limestone, 8-4, to win its fifth NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship and cap off a perfect 20-0 season. When it came to NCAA postseason selections, the NE-10 once again had another sensational year with 44 teams chosen to participate in national tournaments during the year. In addition, student-athletes from 32 different men’s and women’s golf, swimming and diving, cross country, and indoor and outdoor track & field teams competed for national titles. Of those 44 teams earning NCAA bids, 14 different Northeast-10 institutions were represented. Seven NE-10 teams reached the national semifinal round, while three teams played in their respective sport’s national title game.
The institutions that make up the Northeast-10 are Adelphi University (Garden City, N.Y.), American International College (Springfield, Mass.), Assumption College (Worcester, Mass.), Bentley University (Waltham, Mass.), Franklin Pierce University (Rindge, N.H.), Le Moyne College (Syracuse, N.Y.), Merrimack College (North Andover, Mass.), University of New Haven (West Haven, Conn.), Pace University (Pleasantville, N.Y.), Saint Anselm College (Manchester, N.H.), Saint Michael’s College (Colchester, Vt.), The College of Saint Rose (Albany, N.Y.), Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven, Conn.), Southern New Hampshire University (Manchester, N.H.), and Stonehill College (Easton, Mass.).
It was a record year for the Northeast-10 academically in 2015-16 as well. Five NE-10 institutions achieved a department Academic Success Rate (graduation rate) of at least 90 percent. Four achieved a score of 95 percent or better, ranking them in the top seven nationally. A record 61 percent of the league’s student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the spring with 243 posting a perfect 4.0 GPA. Another new record was set this summer with the release of Team Academic Excellence awards, as 75 percent of the league’s 292 teams achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NE-10 also honored 247 student-athletes as members of its academic all-conference teams during the fall, winter and spring seasons.
The conference’s 15 member institutions are spread geographically from Syracuse, N.Y. to Waltham, Mass. and from Colchester, Vt. to Garden City, N.Y. Many of the members are located in or around the metropolitan areas of Albany, Boston, Manchester, New Haven, Worcester and New York City. The Northeast-10 was proud to welcome the New Haven and Adelphi in the conference’s latest expansion, adding to the powerful union of strong academic and athletic institutions. In addition, LIU Post (Brookville, N.Y.) is an associate member of the NE-10 in the sports of field hockey and football.
The Northeast-10 also remains focused on its community endeavors. The conference has built a strong partnership with Team IMPACT, a non-profit organization that matches children with life-threatening illnesses with college sports teams. In 2015, the NE-10 became the first ‘fully-matched’ conference in Division II, as at least one team from each member institution has matched with a Team IMPACT child. More than 60 NE-10 teams currently have matches through Team IMPACT. The conference’s fundraising efforts for Make-A-Wish are also more than any other Division II conference in the country over the past decade.
The Northeast-10 has evolved into a membership committed to competitive athletics programs that emphasize the education, both on and off the field, of more than 6,000 student-athletes. Among the many accomplishments of these institutions are NCAA Division II national championships in women’s basketball, women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and field, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving. The conference is coming off another successful year, collecting four national titles in 2015-16. Two champions from the NE-10 were crowned at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships during the winter season. First it was American International’s Chandler Cotton, Jr., Kemani Hume, Leakey Kipkosgei and Chad Miller claiming the men’s distance medley relay title with a time of 9:48.02. Then Merrimack’s Carly Muscaro won the women’s 400-meter dash title with a time of 52.34 the following night.
Through the establishment and enforcement of regulations, the conference aims to encourage policies that enable intercollegiate athletics programs to contribute to and be considered an integral part of the total educational offerings at our member institutions. The Northeast-10 can look to a long history of success including the growth from seven original member institutions to more than double its size 36 years later, the contention for and winning of multiple national championships, and the recognition of student-athlete performances off the field and in the classroom.
Muscaro wasn’t quite finished, however, as she defended her 400-meter dash crown at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship, winning her second individual national

McCabe Second Season Record: 42-2 (Two Seasons)
Adelphi University Director of Athletics and Recreation Danny McCabe announced the hiring of Pat McCabe as head coach of the women’s lacrosse program on September 4, 2014, and McCabe enters his third season at the helm in 2017. Named the NE-10 Coach of the Year in his second season, McCabe and the Panthers repeated as NE-10 regular season and tournament champions in his second year by defeating Le Moyne, holding the #1 ranking in the country for much of the season. Advancing to the NCAA Tournament as the top seed, the Panthers topped local rival Dowling to advance to another Final Four, where they again advanced to the National Championship game by defeating NE-10 rival Le Moyne for the third time in 2016, 13-4. In the title game, the Panthers fell to the Mocs of Florida Southern College by a 9-8 final. McCabe coached seven players to All-Region honors and five to All-America as Jacqueline Jahelka and Ryley Weber earned Division II Attacker and Defender of the Year, resepctively. In his first season, McCabe helped continue on the winning tradition of the Panther program with a second straight and seventh overall Division II National Championship. After winning the Northeast-10 regular season title with a 12-1 mark in his first season, the Brown and Gold went on to win the NE-10 Championship crown as well with three wins by a margin of at least nine goals. In the NCAA Tournament, McCabe led Adelphi to one more

ADELPHI WOMEN’S LACR OSSE win each against Stonehill and Le Moyne before upending Lock Haven 5-4 in overtime after a Felicia Mills (‘15) goal to claim national glory. In addition to retaining the National Championship in his first year, McCabe also coached six players to the IWLCA All-America squad while Alexa Froccaro (‘15) was honored as an Academic All-American. The team as a whole also earned academic accolades with the Brown and Gold being named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad.
McCabe also brings a wealth of international experience to Adelphi. He first donned a USA jersey in 1988 as part of the U19 team at the World Championships in Adelaide, Australia, where he earned “Fairest and Best Player” honors. He followed that up with inclusion on the 1990 (alternate), 1998 and 2006 United State national teams, earning a gold medal in 1998 and a silver medal at the 2006 World Championships.
A National Hall of Fame defenseman, McCabe started his illustrious playing career at Elmont Memorial High School, where he led the program to a New York State Championship. In 1987, he matriculated at Syracuse, where he won three NCAA Division I National Championships, earned four United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American honors and was the 1990 NCAA Defensive Player of The Year. Following college, McCabe moved into the professional ranks, playing for the New York Saints of the National Lacrosse League from 1992-2001 with seven years as team captain. In 2001, he joined the Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse, spending six years with team, all of them as captain. He also helped the Lizards to MLL Championships in 2001 and 2003.
Collegiately, McCabe spent time as a defensive coordinator with the LIU Post men’s lacrosse program from 1999-2001, helping the Pioneers to NCAA Division II runner-up finishes in 1999 and 2000. He was also a member of the Adelphi University men’s lacrosse coaching staff in 2011, pushing the Panthers to NCAA Division II runner-up status. McCabe is also the founder and camp director for Shooting Star Lacrosse camps, which have operated since 1999 and founded ICON Lacrosse, where he coaches the Girls’ Lacrosse Class of 2017 team while also acting as program director.

Motamed Field In 2008, Adelphi University announced the naming of its athletic competition field, part of its new outdoor sports stadium, in recognition of the generous support and leadership of its Board of Trustees Chairman, Thomas F. Motamed, Class of 1971. Motamed Field was the site of the 2011 NCAA Division II and III women’s lacrosse championship. It also played host to the 2010, 2011, and 2014 Northeast-10 Women’s Lacrosse Championships and the 2011, 2012, and 2014 Northeast-10 Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
• Adjacent to the Motamed Field is a practice space. • The tennis courts are located just beyond this field and anchors the complex in one contiguous area. • All-weather surface material to allow for year-round practice and competition. • Four main light standards help illuminate the field for evening training and competition, as well as working media and game operations. The Outdoor Sports Complex features Motamed Field, which is the home for the Adelphi men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse and field hockey programs.
• A heated/air-conditioned Press Box is located at the top of the stadium seats. Located midfield, the press box accommodates sports information, working media and game operations, which maintains the scoreboard and public address sound system. • The Panthers’ live in-game stats of soccer, lacrosse and field hockey events originates out of the press box. • Addition of a one-level parking structure for over 300 cars below the field.

McCabe After a nationwide search, Danny McCabe was appointed Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation at Adelphi in July 2013 by former Adelphi University President Dr. Robert A. Scott.
basketball NCAA East Regional Advisory Committee and also serves on the ECAC Board of Directors.
In his first two years at the helm of the athletics department, the Panthers continued to set a standard of excellence in the Northeast-10 Conference, winning the school’s second consecutive Presidents’ Cup in 2013-14 before finishing second in 2014-15. In that time, Adelphi claimed seven NE-10 Championships, sent 15 teams to NCAA Tournament play and claimed two NCAA National Championships in women’s lacrosse. In 2015, the softball team reached the Women’s College World Series for the first time as a Division II program, winning the NCAA Division II East 2 Regional on Janet L. Ficke Field before sweeping the Super Regional on the campus of top-seeded Southern New Hampshire. In the classroom, 12 student-athletes have been recognized as CoSida Capital One Academic All-District I Team honorees, including five Academic All-Americans from the men’s lacrosse (Nick Watson), women’s lacrosse (Devan Crimi, Alexa Froccaro), women’s soccer (Taylor Groth) and women’s basketball (Kelly Mannix) programs. Furthermore, seven teams earned the NE-10 Team Academic Excellence Awards in 2013-14, while the softball program posted the highest GPA across all three NCAA Divisions; the program followed that up as one of four Panther teams to win an Academic Excellence Award in 2014-15, recording the highest GPA in the history of the award. In addition to the success in competition and in the classroom, McCabe has been instrumental in expanding Adelphi’s corporate partners, bringing the sponsorships of TD Bank ®, the Whitmore Group, the Greene Turtle, and MetLife ® to the department. In 2015, MetLife Legacy Advisors became the title sponsor of Adelphi’s annual Fall Cocktail Reception, while MetroTeam Outfitters returned as Adelphi’s official gear sponsor and joined the roster of corporate partners as the title sponsor of the annual Ficke Golf Classic. The funds raised at these special events reached record levels, and membership in the Panther Club, the department’s major friendand-fundraising arm, also doubled in 2015 to nearly 800 members. McCabe has been instrumental in creating several new positions in the department, beginning with the addition of a varsity women’s golf program and the hiring of Keith Ferrara as the first full-time strength and conditioning coach. In addition, the department created a new strength and conditioning center inside the Center for Recreation and Sports which features all the amenities required for a first-class program. Finally, in 2015, McCabe was chosen to begin a three-year term on the men’s ADELPHI UNIVERSITY
McCabe came to Adelphi from Hofstra University, where he was a part of the Pride Intercollegiate Athletic program for eight years, as Executive Associate Athletic Director. He played a pivotal role in the day-to-day operation of the department and in that role McCabe spearheaded Hofstra’s NCAA Certification process, and played a large role in developing and implementing the University’s five-year plan for athletics. He also served as the chairman of the NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals Organizing Committee at Hofstra in 2009 and 2011. In addition, McCabe served as the program administrator for the men’s and women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, volleyball and the men’s soccer program and had oversight responsibilities for the sports medicine and strength and conditioning departments. Prior to Hofstra, McCabe was at Providence College where he served as Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations from 2000-05. In that capacity, he managed all athletic department marketing, promotions and sales strategies for the Big East institution. Under his guidance, the College experienced increased sponsorship sales and ticket sales and increased the average attendance at Friar men’s basketball games. McCabe also oversaw the Providence Athletic Ticket Office, managed their collegiate licensing program increasing revenue by 133 percent, and worked with the Director of Athletics in the department’s fundraising program. Before his time at Providence, McCabe served as the University of Miami (FL) Director of Ticket Sales from 1998 to 2000. At Miami, he handled season ticket and group ticket sales strategies for the Hurricane’s football, baseball, and men’s and women’s basketball programs. McCabe also spent time in leadership roles in the marketing departments at both Bill Altenberg - 1950-51 Fairfield University George Faherty - 1951-66 (1994-98) and Fordham University (1991-92). Long Island There’s more than plenty to do on Long Island. Arts, culture, history, beaches, golf and shopping.
Central Suffolk, with beautiful forests and natural inlets, the world’s largest factory outlet center and a huge water park.
There are five distinctive regions in Long Island North Shore, otherwise known as the Gold Coast, with dozens of historic sites dating back to colonial days and Gatsby-era mansions .
North Fork, with an array of vineyards, waterfront ports and farm stands.
South Shore, the Island’s spectator sports and entertainment center, with world-famous Jones and Fire Island Beaches, and home to the New York Islanders.
South Fork, widely known as “The Hamptons,” with its pristine beaches and exclusive villages.
New York City It is impossible not to find something interesting to do and see in Manhattan. The most renowned of New York City’s five boroughs, Manhattan offers the best of everything—Broadway shows, concerts, sporting events, museums, shops, restaurants, parks, parades, cultural landmarks and one-of-akind neighborhoods. New York City is only 30 minutes from the Adelphi University Campus.
