It was an election that altered the face of the nation. t was a loud and crazy election which reaffirmed democracy, but it took place in the shadow of death. As many as 20 councillors and campaigners died in this election, a terrifying statistic which deserves some serious attention. Surely democracy should not exact such a price?

What this election did was to finally find the missing piece of the democratic puzzle — political competition. It is now clear that South Africans are prepared to “chuck out the bums”, as the Americans say, when they think their elected officials are failing them. The genie is out of the bottle. The old habit of placing the party above all else has begun to melt in the heat of accountability. What comes next will define this country. The ANC has two short years to turn the tide. Will it finally act to remove the man who has defined ruling party arrogance and who does not respect the constitution, Jacob Zuma? Also in the wings is the start of a whole new way of governing at local level as several major cities will be ruled by coalitions. Will the politics of negotiation bring new energy to civic affairs or will it lead, Italian-style, to administrative inertia and further decay? It's a cliche, but it really does “remain to be seen”.

Good day Sir / Madam Upon reading the recent issue of your newspaper of 22 - 28 July 2016, i was appalled by the content. I as a resident of this community for the past 30 years was so shocked to see half naked women on the front page. Yes, i understand that it is a cultural thing, but isn't it too much non-respectful to the female body? Then i wondered, how civilized are we? And if we are to win the battle against abusing women and children, this kind of content should be avoid, for the very fact that the female

body is esteemed like something readily available is to be avoid. We should take action against the publication such content. But what disturbed me the most is what i found on the 6th page, the abomination continues! And what is more, on the very next page there is an article about Christianity, about worshiping God, and loving Jesus! How can these things share a page in your newspaper!!??? I was utterly shocked! I am a devoted Christian, loving and adoring God who is HOLY, and Jesus, His Son who was sacrificed to deliver us from abomination. No, this should not be, for Jesus' sacrifice was not in vain! I as a Christian, therefore request from you, the editor, to either not publish such images of half-naked ladies, or ban any Christian content from your newspaper, for these two do not go together. Light and darkness cannot be in the

same place. And, to my understanding, the name of your newspaper means to bring light or enlightenment? TETA hosted a career expo Imbokodo Traffic Officers to baragade national Roads This women’s Month

Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) hosted a career expo this past Saturday the 31st of July 2016 at the Gerd Sibande District, Mpumalanga. The expo was aimed at female learners from grades 9 to 12 as a way of exposing them to the career opportunities in the transport sector. I trust your readers would be keen on learning the various opportunities available to them and the various avenues they can access them. Mpumalanga teta career expo a resounding success Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) hosted yet another succesful career expo on the 30th of July 2016 in the GertSibande District, Mpumalanga.

Exhibitors that attended the Mpumalanga Expo included, Women in Logistics and Transport, GertSibande FET College, RTIA, South African Airways, NYDA, Department of Labour, HWSETA, Road Accident Fund and TETA as the main exhibitor on the day.

Commenting on the expos CEO of TETA, Mrs Maphefo Anno-Frempong said,“The Transport Sector is a dynamic environment characterised by cutting edge technology; and therefore, needs skilled and capable people, and a learning environment that keep abreast of new developments in the competitive global market to ensure continuous development and skill upgrades. To this end, programmes such as the career expo remain the backbone of skills development and is key to enhancing productivity and employment growth in the Sector”. Mkhondo Local Municipality Making Sound Relations With Local Businesses. On Friday the 08th of July 2016, the Executive Mayor of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr Bhekabantu Mtshali together with LED Office hostedthe local business people at a business breakfast to present mainly the ruling party's economic policy going towards the next local government's term of office.

he Municipality led by the Executive Mayor intended to recognizethe existing businesses and build

a strong relationship with them. In his address, the Executive Mayor outlined the purpose of the event citing that the ANC-led Municipality wants to share ideas with the business community on what the Municipality can do to achieve a better life in the region. This is the commitment to ensure more active community participation in local government. He also addressed businesses on the challenges encountered and advised on how to survive with our local economic growth.

Business peopleappreciated theopportunity to share their views with the leadership. “We must collectively approach the reinvention of the economy from old to new by consolidating existing sectors and exploring new sectors of growth, and in this way build local economies to create more employment and sustainable livelihoods”, Executive Mayor Mtshali emphasized. The programme was directed by Ward Councillor Lungisizwe Mkhwanazi (Ward 11). “Mantshinga” as the Executive Mayor of Mkhondo is affectionately known, accompanied by the ANC Mayoral Candidate of the Gert Sibande District Municipality Mr. Muzi Gibson Chirwa, Cllr VD Nkosi, the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC), Mr M Lushaba, the Deputy Chairperson of the Local Economic Development Forum,were all excited to share the moment with the local business people. Mr.Muzi Chirwa addressed and advised the stakeholders not to involve themselves in bribery and related activities. He advised againstshort cuts as they are unlikely to assist in moving the local economy and that of the country forward. “We expect businesspeople to explore the available business opportunities that enable them to participate and support one another. The more established

businesses must be ableto support and develop the new comers in the industry”, Mr Chirwa said when encouraging the business people in attendance. Chirwa cautioned against the leaders who, after ascending power, become the first culprits to engage in corrupt activities. An improvement in the government's Supply Chain Management processes was also sighted as a means by the ANC led government to combat corruption and make it convenient to do business with government.
