Nkosikati Ngomane reading the 2019 Women Parliament declaration flanked by the Women representatives from political parties represented in the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature (African National Congress, Economic Freedom Fighters and the Democratic Alliance The Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature continued its efforts to ensure that women issues are considered by hosting another breath -taking 2019 Women's Parliament on Saturday 24 August 2019 at the Legislature chamber, led by Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature Mrs Busisiwe Shiba. Women from different formations in all the districts of the province came in numbers to grace the event aimed at improving their lives as women

of the province. During the plenary session, Advocate Mbika Mkhize, a representative from the Justice Department emphasized importance of giving a “girl child” an opportunity to have a relationship with their fathers and he discouraged women from overprotective of their children. Delivering her keynote address

Speaker Shiba acknowledged the presence of different political parties, and she encouraged women to set aside their political differences when dealing with issues that touches the lives of children and women because such issues cannot be relegated only to the government of the day. She further encouraged women to unite and emulate those women who marched to the union

buildings, because they never looked at each other's political party affiliation but they united as women to embark on their planned objective. “As women we are the ones who should be in the forefront of advocating for issues that challenge our communities out there. Continued on Page 07....../

Mpumalanga Premier satisfied with the Shabane court rulling Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane says she is very pleased with the outcome of the case. “This is what we wanted for this man to go to jail for life, we hope that this sentence will be handed over to the rest of the suspects. The sentence will serve as deterrent to other people not to kill people with albinism, our children and women. As women of South Africa and Mpumalanga in particular we are

very much happy when this sentenced is handed down during Women's month, said MtshweniTsipane. Thulani Thubane (41) has been sentenced to two life sentences and five years in prison for killing Gabisile Shabane (13), a child with albinism and her fifteen-month-old cousin Nkosikhona Ngwenya.

Three more suspected are to stand trial for the same crimes in May next year. The Premier has applauded the Mpumalanga Police, Police from the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Mpumalnga National Prosecuting Authority for the manner in which they handled the case. The Premier has also thanked the community and different political

parties for their support to the Shabane and Ngwenya family by attending the trial this week. “We must continue to give the family support so that they know we are with them and we feel their pain. We as the Mpumalanga community we will not tolerate any abuse against people with albinism, our children and women,” said Mtshweni-Tsipane.

Devotional with Apostle Peter Jones

Where your gift lies Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:7 “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this allsurpassing power is from God and not from us.” Key Point Statements: • We have treasure, • Jars of clay, • All surpassing power from God, • Power is from God in side us, Body: Many people don’t know that they travel to places looking for something that they already have on the inside. They go from one minister to another. When I pray for others now, I don’t give you anything – but draw out what you already have on the inside. I pull it out onto the surface with the anointing! E.g. an apple – the outward part of the apple is clay (Genesis 2:7), this apple has 5 seed pockets. Each pocket contains seeds

AVBOB Poetry Gala 2019

Don’t be deceived by many out there, because desperation will cost you a lot; whilst the answer is lying right inside of you. (John 7:38) “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” – Believe it because it is true. Papa-God sent each of us with a gift to produce anything we need; but it can only be used when we can see and acknowledge the presence of that gift.

WORDS TO LESSEN THE LOSS

Declarations: Father God, my Gift is active now and I am moving in it now. You Lord have sharpened it and refined it. God’s wisdom and strength are alive and active in me right now. I now have ideas and visions to enlarge my territory. And I see a finished product now! My business, studies, family, purpose and dreams are a success now, in Jesus mighty name! Salvation Prayer: Romans 10:9 - “Dear God, I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth, that Jesus Christ is your Son. I believe that He came into this earth, and died for me on the cross; and rose from the dead on the third day for me. Therefore, I open my heart for the Holy Spirit to come and live in me and be the Lord of my life. I am born again, I am your child!” CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ARE NOW A CHILD OF GOD! The AVBOB Poetry Prize winner: IsiNdebele Isivunguvungu By Mfana Solomon Skhosana

Namkhana sivela ngakuphi isivinguvungu dzimelela. Namkhana siza ngesiwuruwuru sezulu dzimelela. Ungasivumeli sikusikinye ngombana sizokukhamba nawe. Ungazisoli ukobana kubayini size kuwe singayi kwabanye abantu.

As Africa’s largest Mutual Assurance Society and as a household name in the funeral service industry in South Africa, AVBOB understands this all too well. And so the launch of the annual AVBOB Poetry Competition in August 2017, in all 11 mother tongues, was a deliberate attempt on AVBOB’s part to give ordinary South Africans a way to speak about these experiences and to map out the milestones in their lives. The launch year of the AVBOB Poetry Competition gave South Africa the gentlest, most authentic form of bereavement support – a poetry portal crafted by ordinary people, of all ages, in all 11 official languages. The second year of the competition saw our community of poets grow to over 11 000, and witnessed the submission of over 29 000 poems, up from 22 000 in the previous year – all for the benefit of the bereaved. Now about to enter its third year, the competition confirms the power of poetry to heal and uplift, and affirms the fact that lines on a page can alter lives.

Yazi bona sikufundisa ukudzimelela njengesihlahla esinomrabho. Sikufundisa bona ubophe iinthimba zakho nasivelako, Khona uzakususa abanye iinkopha nasivelako ngelinye ilanga. Nawungasaziko, uzokuhlanganyelwa yihloko, Begodu angekhe wazi bona kufanele, Uthathe ini uyihlanganise nani nasivelako. Ukobana sikuphandla amehlo ngehlabathi, ungakutjheji lokho dzimelela.

And lives were indeed altered when the AVBOB Poetry Prize winners of the second competition were announced at a gracious gala evening held on 25 July 2019. The calibre of poems crafted across this year’s competition made it a challenge for the 11 language editors to choose the winners.

Ukobana sifuna ukukusunduza usuke lapho udzimelele khona, Ungasitjheji dzimelela! Dzimelela sizokudlula. Mntwana kamma kumnandi ukwazi isivunguvungu, Ngombana usazi ngamehlo wena. Abanye basazi bangendlini balodhlele iimbadi, basihlole emafesidirini.

But, in truth, each and every poet who entered the competition is a winner. And the more than 29 000 poems entered are a tribute to this remarkable country, to the strength and resilience of her people, and to our ability to see beyond the fault lines of past pain to a place of hope and healing

Abanye abafuni ukusibona ngamehlo wabo, Ngombana basisaba njengombani wezulu nawutlwebhako. Zithwale amahlombe ngombana usazi ngamehlo wena. Asikho isivunguvungu esikwenza ube makhaza emadolweni, Ngitjho neembandana zikaSomnini ziba makhaza emadolweni nasivelako, Kodwana nazo ziyadzimelela ngombana kungekho lapha zingazifihla khona. Utjho bona ungabhalelwa kukghodlhelela njengeembandana wena?

Each one of us, no matter our background, is bound by the common experiences of birth and death, of loss and love. And we all struggle to find words to articulate these transformative moments in our lives.

Mfana Solomon Skhosana

Zibuze bona nawurhidlwa livalo nasivelako wena, Ubunyonyo bona benzani lapha bukhona ngombana bufana nephepha? Utjho bona ungabhalelwa bunyonyo wena? Isivunguvungu asinawo umlomo namehlo. Utjho bona ungabhalelwa yinto engakhulumi nengaboniko na? Abukho ubujamo obuhlala unomphela, Ungathomi ulahle ithemba nakancani, Koke kuzakudlula, Dzimelela! Dzimelela! Mpumalanga Women's Parliament A Success

.......From Page 01 That is why as this provincial legislature whose vision is to be a people centred African world class legislature, committed to provide effective oversight, public participation and law making. We saw it prudent in fulfilling our constitutional mandate to consult and involve this important sector as we discharge the duty of this sixth legislature to realise our new dawn and grow Mpumalanga province together. Working together to have effective programmes will assist us as women to even fight the stubborn legacy of patriarchy”, said Speaker Shiba. “We recognise that a lot has been done in Agriculture programmes, and we are grateful for that, but we need to look at the construction and mining sector for women”, I am glad that it was mentioned by the MEC for Finance and Economic Development Mr Pat Ngomana that we don't participate, fortunately we are here we have skills we are ready and we are saying Thuma thina sikhona”, said Ms Phindile Nkosi speaking on Economic inclusion, agriculture and women in job creation as one of the thematic areas discussed” further Speaker Shiba.

ensure that the government develop incubation programmes in mining and construction for women; consider women who already are over 35 years to be developed for entrepreneurship and that the Central Supplier Database be monitored so as to give all companies a fair chance to render services to government. The women further requested the Legislature to ensure that government consider people with disabilities; request for government to reduce some of the requirements hindering women from getting funding; assist women to get the mining rights through financial assistance and to stop the tendency of awarding contracts to men and the same companies for a long time. The commission on eradicating poverty raised a concern that majority of women are employed in jobs that are not sustainable, considering that women are the ones that care for the families but they cannot afford.

It was further recommended that the education system should be made relevant and progressive and to do away with the 30 percent pass rate. Women also called for support for As part of the recommendations, the the creation of local women owned production companies of sanitary women who attended the Women's Parliament urged the Legislature to towels; give women more

opportunities of working and earning equal as men; address issues of men who do not want to support their children and find systems of integrating rural women into sustainable job opportunities and government to look at reopening closed companies that are under state-owned in order to create jobs for women. The delegates were concerned that men are still regarded as powerful over women by the society. Delegates were also concerned that police records shows that women are on top of the list of people affected by gender -based violence and emotional abuse. They urged government to ensure prioritisation of women in farms and rural areas in the fight against gender -based violence; the improvement of the response time to gender violence matters and to ensure that there are interpreting services for victims who cannot communicate in English at the police stations. Government and Commission for Gender Equality were, however, appreciated on their efforts in dealing with gender based violence The 2019 Women Parliament closed on a high note with Women committing to a declaration that the Women Parliament agreed to.
