Vice-President Kamala Harris stands once again on the edge of history in a political career replete with milestones.
President Joe Biden’s exit from the White House race and endorsement of Kamala Harris makes her the top contender for his mantle as the Democratic party’s nominee for President, which will make her the first African American woman, the first Asian American, and the first Indian American to claim and win, if she does, a major political party’s nomination for President, the highest political office in America.

The Rich Legacy Of Indian Classical Dance
By Likhitha Gopi.
The term ‘classical’ derives from the Latin classicus, introduced in the mid-16th century, signifying ‘belonging to a class’. As an adjective, ‘classic’ denotes preeminence, particularly in literature and art, characterized by its enduring quality.
Classical art draws inspiration from ancient Roman and Greek cultures, encompassing architecture, literature, and art forms. During the Renaissance in Western art, classicism thrived, often depicting mythological scenes through mediums such as painting, sculpture, and printmaking.
India boasts a plethora of dance forms, including Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Garba, Bhangra, Ghoomar, Bihu, and others.
However, only a select few are designated as classical dances. The origins of Indian classical dancing trace back to approximately 200 BCE.
The Sangeet Natak Academy, established by the Indian Ministry of Education in 1952, and the Ministry of Culture, tasked with preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage, recognize some
dance forms as classical based on specific criteria.
These forms adhere to the principles expounded in the Sanskrit treatise Natya Shastra, attributed to the ancient scholar Bharata Muni, serving as the foundational text for classical dances of India.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi acknowledges eight classical dance forms that exemplify India’s rich cultural heritage: Bharatanatyam from Tamil Nadu, Kathak from Uttar Pradesh, Kathakali from Kerala, Kuchipudi from Andhra Pradesh, Manipuri from Manipur, Mohiniyattam from Kerala, Odissi from Odisha, and Sattriya from Assam.
Additionally, the Ministry of Culture recognizes nine classical dance forms, including Chhau from Eastern India spanning Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
Each Indian classical dance form embodies unique traditions and intricate storytelling techniques. These dances serve as profound cultural repositories, deeply intertwined with the religious and mythological narratives of Hinduism.
They not only depict ancient epics and tales from Hindu mythology but also celebrate regional folklore and historical events. Embodying philosophical concepts and spiritual devotion, they continue to inspire and educate, bridging the past and present through their timeless portrayal of human emotions, virtues, and aspirations.
Indian classical dances transcend mere performances; they are living traditions that illuminate the richness of India’s cultural heritage, providing profound insights into its history, spirituality, and artistic prowess.
Digital Decluttering Tips For Your Connected Life
Nowadays, organizing your digital possessions, such as beloved photos and videos, and backing up important data, like school and business records, is just as important as keeping your physical surroundings orderly.
Why is backing up data so important? Because so many things can go wrong: from spilling water on your laptop to losing your phone to experiencing a natural disaster. Plus, there’s cybersecurity to think about -- a PC infected by malware is a common cause of data loss.
If you’re like most people and have precious data you want to protect, a common rule of thumb for keeping important files from disappearing forever is the 3-2-1 rule:
• Have three total copies of your data.
• Save copies on two different types of media or devices.
• Keep one backup copy off-site in case of disaster.
“Whether it’s a senior thesis, your business plan or cherished family photos and videos, if it’s important to you, back it up,” says Ni-
tin Kachhwaha, director of product management, Western Digital.
“Having a practical 3-2-1 backup strategy in place is essential to providing peace of mind and preserving your files for the future.”
If you’re looking for storage solutions to back up your data, one great option is the My Book desktop drive from WD, which is designed to complement your life with massive space to store your files, ranging from 4TB to 22TB of capacity.
An alternative option from the WD brand is the popular and portable My Passport Ultra hard drive that comes with storage up to 6TB, which is the world’s highest capacity 2.5-inch drive. This is a great storage companion for those with an on-the-go lifestyle, equipped with password protection for an extra level of security. (Actual user capacity may be less depending on operating environment. Download and installation required. Terms and conditions apply. User account registration may be required.)
Both come with automatic backup software so you can maintain peace of mind knowing that you are helping keep your data safe. For more information and backup solution ideas, visit https://wd.com. These days, decluttering doesn’t just refer to nixing household clutter and cleaning out closets, it also includes organizing your digital life by helping to protect your treasured and sensitive data. Why Veterans Make Great Hires
Honoring members of the military means not only reflecting on their exemplary service, but also appreciating the talents and skills of veterans in the civilian workplace.
Shining a light on how military skills transfer to corporate America is Brian Armstrong, a Marine Corps veteran who now serves as Wells Fargo’s head of military recruitment.
Having led the safe transport of equipment and security protection forces, on top of serving as a small unit leader overseeing the well-being of fellow Marines, Armstrong acquired skills that easily transfer to everyday business during his military career. And his experience is not unique to him, but shared amongst the hundreds of thousands who transition out of the military to civilian careers each year.
“In the military, you have to be able to think on your feet,” Armstrong said. “We [veterans] span the breadth of the United States,
and we can leverage our unique, diverse perspectives to react and deliver under pressure. Add this to the soft skills we gain during service, and I think veterans are an extremely attractive demographic for employers.”
In fact, many companies in recent years are catching onto the value veterans bring to the workplace,
with veteran employment rates trending upward over the past 10 years, according to Department of Labor Statistics. Nevertheless, veterans do face unique workplace challenges, particularly during the hiring process, from employer bias to dealing with the culture shift of post-military life.
Where military recruitment is con-
cerned, Wells Fargo is a good example of a corporation aligning its actions with its words. For more than 170 years, the company has supported military service members and veterans. In addition to initiatives like home and car donations, grants, and supporting veteranowned businesses, its dedicated Military Talent Sourcing Team is committed to helping veterans effectively navigate the transition to civilian life.
The company’s Military Talent Liaisons are committed to recruiting, counseling, and advocating for military job seekers.
According to Armstrong, other companies can benefit from similar initiatives. The team’s programming includes military-specific hiring events, corporate fellowships, apprenticeships through the Department of Labor, and inten-
sive training programs.
“It’s not just about supporting veterans, it’s also about how veterans can help a company. Their ability to thrive in differing environments and circumstances makes them agile and serious-minded in their endeavors,” Armstrong says. “Obviously we’re not in a military situation in our typical workplace, but I suspect many veterans, like I do, take their corporate roles seriously, the same way they’d get prepared for a mission.”

Employers can reflect on how making their workplaces more inclusive to veterans can help both their community and their bottom line. (StatePoint)
Everything You Need To Know About Borrowing Money For College
College-related costs are at an alltime high, and while many parents harbor concerns about the expense, they value the education their child is receiving.
That’s according to the April 2024 College Ave survey. The survey found that while 89% of parents of four-year college students believe a college degree is important for their child’s future, 78% agree that paying for college is stressful.
“Families today are relying on a mix of sources to fund college, including scholarships, federal aid and grants, income and savings, and in some cases, private student loans,” says Angela Colatriano, chief marketing officer, College Ave.
According to Colatriano, it’s critical to understand the ins and outs of borrowing for college before taking out a loan. If you believe your family will take this path, here’s everything you need to know:
1. Exhaust other options. Many experts agree that private loans only make sense once other financial aid options are exhausted. After filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), you’ll receive a financial aid package from each school, which may include scholarships, grants and federal student loans. If your selected school is one of the 400 institutions that requires the CSS profile, submit that application, too to qualify for institutional aid. And of course,
don’t forget to apply to private scholarships to access funds that don’t need to be repaid.
2. Do the math. Federal student loans in the student’s name offer unique benefits, so if you do need to borrow, start there. If you decide that a private student loan or private parent loan is also right for your family, borrow only the minimum amount needed to save over the life of the loan. This is a good time to explore additional avenues for re-
ducing your financing needs, such as renting textbooks, and buying groceries versus paying into the school meal plan.
3. Understand loan costs. Unlike federal loans, which have fixed interest rates for all borrowers, private student loans offer a choice of fixed or variable interest rates. Shop around for a lender that doesn’t charge origination fees, and learn the difference between fixed and variable interest rates. Use CollegeAve.com’s student loan calculator to get a sense of the overall cost of a given loan and its monthly loan payments.
4. Compare lender repayment options. Another factor to consider when shopping for a lender is repayment terms. Some lenders, like College Ave, let borrowers choose how long they want to repay their loan, and whether to start making payments immediately or defer until after graduation. The important
thing is to select a loan with budget-friendly terms and a monthly payment you can live with.
5. Apply with a cosigner. Private student loan lenders look at income and credit history to determine a student’s ability to repay the loan. If approved, their credit history also impacts the interest rate they’re offered. Many college students don’t have an established credit history or sufficient income and may not get approved for a private loan on their own. Your student can improve their chances of getting approved and securing a lower interest rate by adding a cosigner to their loan application. The cosigner should understand that they share equal responsibility for repayment if the student falls behind on payments.
Bottom line? Researching financial aid options, applying for scholarships and being a strategic borrower can help your family get on with what matters most: preparing for a bright future. (StatePoint)
How To Manage Competing Financial Priorities
Managing competing financial priorities can be emotionally and logistically complex, whether you’re juggling college tuition bills and mortgage payments, or you’re carving out opportunities for travel while planning for retirement.
According to CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals, following these tips can help you effectively make space in your budget for everything that matters to you:
Get started early: While there is no wrong time to make a financial plan, waiting until you achieve a certain level of wealth can be counterproductive. Having a plan at the outset will help you achieve your goals faster and with less anxiety.
Set specific goals: Being precise about your goals can help ensure you’re prepared to achieve them. For example, simply saving for retirement is terrific, but having a clear vision of what you want your retirement to look like can help you map out a financial plan that gets you exactly where you want to go.
Be strategic about debt: If getting out of debt is one of your financial goals, be strategic about it. Pay off credit card bills and loans with higher interest rates first to reduce the overall cost of your debt over time and free up more of your money for your other priorities.
Maximize savings: If you can only afford small contributions to your savings right
now because of other financial priorities, don’t fret. You can actually maximize every dollar that you budget for the future if you play your cards right. A CFP® professional can
guide you toward savings opportunities that come with tax advantages, as well as high returns and interest yields.
Protect your wealth: Unexpected circumstances can disrupt even the best-laid plans. Account for such possibilities as market downturns, loss of income and the need for long-term care to reduce the risk of your im-
portant goals going unmet.
Stay calm: Money is the source of many emotions, including guilt and anxiety, and it is easy to get swept up in those negative feelings when you unmindfully spend money on vacations, dining out and other lifestyle experiences. Creating a budget can help you realistically balance fun, short-term goals with long-term financial security.
Partner with a professional: A CFP® professional can help you juggle competing financial priorities gracefully. Not only will they sit down with you to identify your objectives, but they also possess the expertise to guide you to the tools and strategies that will help you most easily reach your goals. A CFP® professional is also someone you can trust. As part of their CFP® certification, they commit to act as a fiduciary and provide financial advice that is in their clients’ best interests. Why A Healthier Mouth Equals A Healthier You
Better oral health is strongly linked to better overall health, helping you speak properly, eat healthfully, and prevent certain infections and disease. According to experts, it all starts with preserving your natural teeth.
“Your natural teeth are not disposable. They are designed to last a lifetime,” says Dr. Natasha M. Flake, president of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE). “Taking steps to preserve your teeth is fundamental to a healthy mouth, a healthy body and a happy life.”
Unfortunately, millions of U.S. adults don’t have dental insurance, and many low-income adults lack the means to acquire dental services. As a result, they may forgo preventive care and even emergency care when issues arise.
“Delaying or avoiding care can cause a snowball effect of additional oral health and systemic health issues,” says Dr. Flake. “Even a minor oral infection can escalate into a life-threatening situation if left untreated.”
In an effort to urge Americans to get timely
oral health care, the AAE has launched a multipronged campaign highlighting the link between oral health and overall health. The campaign includes digital billboards in Times Square, advocacy messages in building lights, and pop-up educational events where free dental care kits are distributed.
Many AAE members even provide free root canal treatments to those in need through organized free root canal days. Flake points out how critical this service is.
“All too often, the default treatment for infection and tooth decay is tooth extraction,”
says Dr. Flake. “The truth is that we can do better for all patients, particularly those in underserved communities. In fact, outreach efforts funded by the Foundation for Endodontics help patients in underserved communities receive much-needed dental care and save their teeth.”
Endodontists are highly skilled dental specialists in diagnosing and treating tooth pain. When performing root canals, they use the latest in 3D imaging and advanced technology to put safety first and reduce the risk of infection. With 25 million procedures performed every year, root canal treatments are safe, convenient and widely recommended. To locate a nearby endodontist, visit the AAE’s useful patient tool findmyendodontist.com.
If you’re experiencing tooth pain or sensitivity, don’t delay your care. Visit an endodontist to protect your smile and your health. (StatePoint)
Financing The Care Of Loved Ones With A Disability
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, over one in four Americans are living with a disability and about one-half of these individuals are living with a severe disability.
Whether present at birth or caused by a lifealtering accident or illness, severe disabilities almost always create a significant financial burden due to curtailed earning power and ongoing expenses. That’s where a specialized trust or savings account may help both the individual with special needs, and their families.
To honor Disability Pride Month this July, Wells Fargo is sharing information about Special Needs Trusts (SNTs) and Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) accounts in order to help individuals and families understand their options.
What are special needs trusts? SNTs are irrevocable trusts drafted by an attorney. They’re used to set aside money or property to cover the needs of individuals living with physical, mental or developmental disabilities who may not have the ability or legal capacity to manage their assets and keep detailed records.
How are SNTs funded? The two types of SNTs depend on the source of funding:
• First-party SNTs are funded with money the beneficiary owns, or is awarded as compensation for medical malpractice, personal injury or another type of legal settlement. Typically, they’re created by the beneficiary’s parents, grandparent, legal guardian, or a court, and are for beneficiaries under 65. When the trust terminates, Medicaid is entitled to reimbursement of any funds expended on the beneficiary.
• Third-party SNTs can be established at any time by someone wishing to provide for a
minor or adult with special needs, including as part of an estate plan. Unlike first-party trusts, they may be created by anyone, and there is no age restriction on the beneficiary. The terms may be modified, and there is no reimbursement requirement to government programs. While advantageous, their complexity often requires professional assistance.
What are SNTs’ benefits? An SNT can help you or a loved one:
Unlocking Homeownership With Down Payment Assistance And A Savings Plan
If you dream of owning a home but aren’t sure whether you have enough money for a down payment, take another look. You might already have enough or be closer than you think.
Down payment and closing cost assistance
Depending on your situation, you may qualify for a grant to help with your housing purchase. Grants can offer down payment and closing cost assistance. Some financing programs also allow qualified homebuyers to put down as little as 3%.
“Aspiring homeowners may want to talk with a mortgage professional to explore their options. They can help aspiring homeowners understand how much they need for a down payment and other upfront costs as well as for ongoing expenses such as insurance, homeowners’ association fees, and unexpected repairs,” says Ewunike N. Brady, head of African American Segment, Wells Fargo Home Lending.
If saving up to buy a home is your goal, how
can you put more money away each month to get there sooner? Here are some savings tips to consider:
1. Pay down credit card and loan debt to save money on interest. This may also lower your debt-to-income ratio and increase your credit score, which helps when applying for a mortgage. Start with accounts with the highest interest rates, pay more than the minimum, make payments every two weeks instead of monthly, and consider setting up automatic payments.
2. Track your spending habits and evaluate what you can cut. Many helpful budgeting apps are available. Small changes can add up to big savings. For example, make your own coffee, pack a lunch, carpool, get your hair cut less frequently, or cook and watch movies at home instead of going out.
3. Reconsider subscription services and monthly memberships. How much do you spend per month, and do you use them enough to get your money’s worth? If you have gym membership, can you work out at
1. Meet current cash flow needs and plan for the future.
2. Preserve eligibility for governmental benefits. People living with disabilities may become ineligible for state and federal benefits if their income and resources exceed certain thresholds. Under federal law and regulations, an SNT helps ensure a beneficiary remains eligible for these programs.
3. Enhance quality of life by providing financial support for activities and services inadequately covered by public benefits programs. In addition to medical, dental and eye care expenses, appropriate purchases may include an accessible vehicle, medical equipment, computer, gym membership, therapy animals, music lessons, supplemental caregiving services, and even entertainment and travel. The goal is to increase the beneficiary’s ability to enjoy life and participate in their community.
Is an SNT a good fit for my family? Do you have an adult child living with a disability who will need care beyond your lifetime? Are you receiving a personal injury settlement? Do you need to protect your public benefits eligibility? Are you considering making provisions in your estate plan for a loved one? If so, then an SNT may be a good fit. To learn more about establishing a special needs trust, visit wellsfargo.com/the-privatebank/solutions/specialized/special-needstrust-services/.
home or enjoy public recreation areas? How many apps or streaming video or music services do you need?
4. Minimize account fees. Pay attention to when a bank account incurs fees so you can avoid them when possible – for instance, maintain the daily minimum account balance, use your debit card a specified number of times during the month, or stay below a maximum number of withdrawals from a savings account. And of course, avoid overdrafts.
5. Consider using automatic bill pay options through your financial institution or the billing entity, like your utility company. Then you’ll avoid accidental late payments and the fees that come with them.
While saving for a down payment seems daunting, it does not have to be. Understanding the facts about what’s required to buy a home and having a savings plan can put you well on your way to achieving your homeownership goal. (StatePoint)
What are ABLE accounts? ABLE accounts are a type of tax-advantaged savings accounts for individuals with disabilities and their families opened and maintained by the beneficiary, a parent, guardian, or designated agent.
How do ABLE accounts compare to SNTs? Relative to an SNT, the cost of establishing and maintaining an ABLE account is relatively small. And unlike SNTs, funds can be used for housing and food without an in-kind support and maintenance reduction to Social Security Income. However, ABLE accounts do have a Medicaid payback requirement. Due to their complementary benefits, it’s both permissible and, in some cases, desirable to have both an ABLE account and SNT established. This combination can provide flexibility for the family and the greatest possible benefit to the disabled individual. Caring for someone living with a disability can be challenging, particularly when it comes to managing assets. Fortunately, financial tools exist to help those living with disabilities, and their families, thrive. (StatePoint)
Sofa Stains Top The List Of Furniture Fails In New Survey
Perhaps you’re better off not taking that new sofa out of its plastic wrap. Sofas, couches and loveseats top the list of furniture most likely to be damaged, according to the latest survey on furniture damage from Allstate Protection Plans. What’s worse, more than half of furniture purchases were damaged in the first two years!
A whopping 174.8 million Americans have damaged furniture, and 61% of accidents occurred in the first two years of ownership.
Here are insights from this survey, along with information on what consumers did to repair, replace or hide damage:
• Failure Frequencies: When asked which furniture was damaged most recently, 40% of Americans said sofas, couches and loveseats. People spent $299 on average repairing or replacing them. And 17% of accidents happened in the first six months after purchase.
• Drips and Rips: Spills and stains were the leading cause of damage, accounting for over half (55%). Rips and tears were second (25%). Juices accounted for 25% of stains, while people and pet stains accounted for 21%.
• Four Legs Versus Two: Surprisingly, pets and children were less
likely to be responsible for damage than adults. Forty-five percent of adults blamed spouses for damage, with children responsible for 34%. Dogs were twice as likely as cats to cause damage.
• Dealing with Damage: Fortythree percent of people tried to fix damage themselves, while 38% kept using furniture despite damage. Twenty-three percent hide it, with 14% replacing items and 4% repairing them.
• Fear of Fancy Furniture: Over a third (36%) avoided buying highpriced furniture for fear of damage. While 54% were aware protection plans can cover sofas, only 31% understood they can cover beds, and just 12% knew they can cover area rugs.
• Preventive Measures: Thirtyeight percent of Americans have covered furniture with towels or sheets, 29% have used slipcovers and plastic covers, and 20% have used stain prevention treatments.
Just over a fifth (22%) currently have a protection plan or extended warranty for furniture.
“While people are used to protecting electronics, many don’t know they can protect furniture too. It gives you peace of mind, knowing expert help is there when you need it,” says Jason Siciliano, vice president of marketing and creative director at Allstate Protection Plans.
To protect furniture, the experts at Allstate Protection Plans recommend:
• Clean Regularly: Dust and dirt buildup can cause scratches and abrasions, or worse. Cleaning is important for high-traffic items like area rugs.
• Use Coasters and Mats: They can prevent rings and stains from moisture and heat.
• Invest in Protective Covers: For both indoor and outdoor furniture, especially high-use pieces, covers can help.
SCRIBBLINGS BY ARUN
• Rotate and Rearrange: Rotate cushions periodically to distribute weight and wear.
• Control Environmental Factors: Regulate temperature and humidity. Close curtains or blinds to stop fabric or wood from fading in the sun.
• Consider a Protection Plan: The coverage can include accidental damage, stains and structural is-
sues, and protect your financial investment.

Selecting The Right Microwave For Your Kitchen
As one of the most useful appliances in any kitchen, it’s no surprise that microwave ovens can be found in at least 90% of U.S. households, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. That’s why choosing the right one is so important.
“While most Americans have a microwave, few are considering how its features and design elements can transform their entire kitchen’s look and functionality,” says Peter Weedfald, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Sharp Home Electronics Company of America.
According to Weedfald, one trend that’s here to stay is the drawer style microwave oven. “Sharp, the inventor of the drawer style microwave, revolutionized kitchen design by integrating functionality and aesthetics,” he explains.
2. Easy access from above makes it convenient to stir or add ingredients to your cooking vessel.
3. No turntable allows for larger and oddly-shaped dishes.
4. Their design works well for both right-handed and left-handed users, and are also accessible for individuals with disabilities depending on the appliance placement and the disability.
5. Access from above makes it easy to reach in and clean up accidental spills and splatter.
6. They elevate spaces with a sleek, seamless look.
If you do opt for a drawer style microwave, here are five major factors to consider:
Might have failed to get the one whom we loved, But fail not to love the one then married.
Might have failed to get all of that desired, But ignore not what all we are offered.
Though in vain try to get what all desired, God ensure to grant just what we deserved.
Sure will be surprised to note our blessings, Much favored we are than a lot others.
[arunsunderraj@gmail.com]
“While these may require professional installation and wiring, drawer style microwave ovens have a range of functional benefits that, for many homeowners, could make them well worth the effort,” he says.
Here are six ways drawer style microwaves can make your life simply better in the kitchen:
1. Their space-saving design frees up valuable countertop real estate, so you have more room for chopping, mixing and stirring.
1. Hands-free technology: When you’re busy in the kitchen, handsfree technology can save you tons of hassle. Select drawer style microwaves like the Sharp SMD2489ES, SMD2479JS, and SMD2499FS models that glide open by simply waving up and down near the motion sensor.
2. Finishes: Drawer style microwave ovens can be seamlessly built into kitchen cabinetry or set on a pedestal in a standard dishwasher cutout. Look for models that match your existing appliances. (Continued On Page 07)
(Continued From Page 06)
Common finishes include stainless steel, black stainless steel, or a combination of stainless steel and black glass.
3. Angled and hidden control panel: For a sleek design and to reduce the chances of unwanted operation, opt for a control panel that can be hidden when not in use. Sharp offers microwave drawer ovens with a concealed control panel that open to an easy-to-read and operate 45-degree angle.
4. Convection cooking: Convection cooking transforms your microwave into a culinary powerhouse, allowing you to bake, roast and crisp foods to perfection all in one appliance. Elevate your cooking experience and streamline your kitchen with a model offering this versatile feature.
5. Smart connectivity: Enjoy smart cooking with Alexa Voice Commands with the Amazon Alexa App or your Echo Device (Amazon Echo device not included). The SMD2489ES, SMD2479JS, and SMD2499FS models from Sharp are all equipped with smart connectivity, enabling you to control and monitor your microwave from your smartphone or voice assistant.
“Ultimately, when choosing a microwave, factoring in your layout, cooking needs and budget can help ensure you find the perfect fit for your dream kitchen,” says Weedfald. (StatePoint)

3 Ways To Look And Feel Your Best In Summer
The hottest days of the year can create a number of seasonal beauty challenges. Here’s a head-to-toe guide to looking and feeling your best in summer:
Hair
Both dry heat and humidity can cause hair problems, like drying and frizzing. Whether you’re hitting the beach or pool or just enjoying the warm weather, it’s essential to give your hair the care it deserves to stay both hydrated and frizz-free.
When enjoying the sun, try protective hairstyles such as buns, braids and ponytails. This will reduce frizz while preventing damage from wind and humidity. One bonus benefit to these ‘dos is that getting your tresses off your neck will also help keep you nice and cool. Remember that just like drinking water hydrates your body, using the right shampoo and conditioner can both replenish and protect dehydrated strands. Your shampoo and conditioner should clean well, replenish, and smooth and condition to fight frizz and lock in the right balance of moisture.

“You’ve been speaking for almost eight hours to this committee about all sorts of things you remember,” Harris said to Brett Kavanaugh. Trump’s nominee for Supreme Court in September 2018.
“How can you not remember whether or not you had a conversation about Robert Mueller or his investigation with anyone at that law firm?”
This was said with reference to former FBI Director Muller who investigated Trump campaign’s Russia links as a special prosecutor.
Harris had her sight on a higher office and became one of the first to throw her hat into the ring for the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee to take on Trump. She flamed out early as well after a debate in which she accused Biden, who was also in the race which he went on to win and win the White House, of working with US Senators known for their racism and for opposing busing of African Ameri-
can children to previously white schools. Biden still picked her as his running mate.
She had a rocky start as Vice President with tensions between herself and Biden’s staff. After the Supreme Court’s epic 2022 decision overturning the constitutional right to abortion, Harris emerged as the administration’s strongest and loudest voice on the issue.
“On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country,”
Harris said in the first remarks after historic developments.
“His remarkable legacy of accomplishment is unmatched in modern American history, surpassing the legacy of many Presidents who have served two terms in office.”
“It is a profound honor to serve as his Vice-President, and I am deeply grateful to the President, Biden, and the entire Biden family. I first came to know President Biden through his son Beau.
We were friends from our days working together as Attorneys General of our home states. As we worked together, Beau would tell me stories about his dad.
The kind of father—and the kind of man—he was. And the qualities Beau revered in his father are the same qualities, the same values, I have seen every single day in Joe’s leadership as President: His honesty and integrity.
His big heart and commitment to his faith and his family. And his love of our country and the American people.”
“With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above everything else.”

If you’ll be wearing sandals regularly this summer, you’ll want to treat your feet to regular pedicures so they look their best. Start any at-home pedicure session by soaking your feet in a bath prepared with Epsom salt or essential oils. Dry your feet then use a pumice stone to gently remove dried skin and calluses. Protecting The Health Of The LGBTQ+ Community: 3 Things You Can Do
The LGBTQ+ community celebrated their shared and lived experience this June during Pride Month. While the LGBTQ+ experience varies from individual to individual and from generation to generation, one constant remains – the importance of protecting health.
“We celebrate Pride because we are proud of who we are, what we have accomplished and where we are heading in advancing health equity,” says Brian Hujdich, executive director of the National Coalition for LGBTQ Health. “Part of protecting health – for ourselves and for the community – is focusing on prevention.”
Following are three important preventive health measures to take not only during Pride season, but all year long.
Prevent infectious diseases
Mpox has remained a public health threat since it first captured headlines in 2022. Infections in the United States are more than double those reported at this time last year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – and a surge in cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo could lead to further escalation globally.
Guns And Domestic
Seventy. That’s the number of women, on average, who are shot and killed each month in this country by a husband or partner, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data analysis. Gun violence is now the leading cause of death for U.S. children and teens – ahead of car accidents and cancer.
In June, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed that the government can continue denying firearms to people subject to court-ordered domestic violence protective orders. “Continuing this common-sense safety measure, which has been making our families and communities safer for decades, was important,” says Esta Soler, founder and president of Futures Without Violence (FUTURES), a leading U.S. violence prevention group. “But it only means we didn’t take a step backward that would make things even worse.”
Domestic violence is a grave and prevalent problem that becomes even more deadly when guns are present. A firearm in the home makes it a stunning five times more
A virus similar to smallpox, mpox can affect anyone. However, the recent outbreak predominantly affected the LGBTQ+ community, underscoring the need for prevention.
According to the CDC, mpox is spread by direct skin-to-skin con-
tact and people most at risk include gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men, as well as transgender or nonbinary people.
Sixty percent of the at-risk population remains unvaccinated, and 15% have received only one dose of the vaccine, according to the CDC. To protect themselves, people at risk should ask their healthcare providers or pharmacists for more information and to determine if they should get the vaccine, which is available at physician offices, pharmacies and local health clinics.
Preventing HIV infection and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) may be another important issue to discuss with your doctor. Prophylactic medications like PrEP can help prevent HIV infection, while doxycycline can help stop the onset of STIs.
Violence: A Dangerous Combination For Everyone
likely that a woman facing domestic violence will be killed by a male partner. So there’s an urgent need to take guns away from abusers.
And what starts at home doesn’t stay at home. When domestic abusers can access guns, communities become more dangerous. Multiple studies have found that a majority of the mass shootings that plague the United States involve some connection to domestic violence or are committed by a shooter who has a history of domestic violence.
“Gun violence is everywhere, and it affects all of us,” Soler says. “The status quo simply can’t continue. We need to do more to prevent gun violence in our homes and communities, protect survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and help heal the people who’ve been harmed by this violence.”
To do all that, FUTURES is working to educate judges about the importance of ensuring that people subject to restraining orders actually surrender their firearms. Right now, some states and jurisdictions require abusers to provide proof they relinquished their firearms, but most do not. Similarly, some individual judges demand proof, but most do not. Many experts want lawmakers, law enforcement,
Engage with your healthcare provider
Having a provider who is LGBTQ+ culturally competent is just as important as preventive health measures. In fact, studies show that those who aren’t comfortable having open and honest conversations with their provider suffer worse health outcomes than others. You can research a provider’s background and interest in LGBTQ+ health care, and schedule an introductory appointment to meet them and gauge your comfort level.
Protect the community
Having pride in the community means taking steps to protect everyone’s health. Mpox serves as a case in point.
and judges to improve relinquishment procedures, ensure compliance, and act when a perpetrator fails to hand over his guns. And FUTURES is asking Congress to:
• Close the so-called boyfriend (or dating partner) loophole in federal law to deny access to firearms to dating partners (not just spouses) who have restraining orders against them, and to those convicted of stalking.
• Invest more resources in both helping children and youth exposed to violence and trauma recover and heal. • Provide more support for the strategies proven to prevent domestic violence and gun violence in communities and more resources to deter future criminal behavior.

“Guns and domestic violence are a public health crisis, but it’s one we can address,” Soler adds. “These are steps that will make our homes and communities safer. There’s no time to waste.” (StatePoint)
If enough people are vaccinated, viruses may have limited opportunities to infect new people, ultimately often posing less threat to the community overall. Conversely, if a virus is left unchecked, it can mutate; it may also grow in strength or in transmissibility and put more people at risk.
It’s important to remember the power of community and conversation. Discuss these health topics with your friends, ask each other questions, and raise awareness. As you continue to celebrate Pride all year long, focus on protecting your health using the tools available to you.

“The LGBTQ+ community has a legacy of quickly and collectively adapting to health concerns,” says Hujdich. “Being proactive in protecting your well-being allows you the freedom to fully enjoy yourself during Pride, throughout the summer, and all year long.”

Building An App Can Help You Grow Your Business. Here’s How To Do It
In today’s world, apps are crucial for business growth and customer experience. They enable shopping, appointment setting and customer service interactions.
In fact, around three-quarters of U.S. adults say they buy things online using a smartphone, according to Pew Research, which means if you don’t have an app for your business, you’re leaving money on the table. However, if building one sounds daunting, experts say there is good news -- artificial intelligence can help.
“AI enhances app development through code generation, chatbots, process optimization, content creation, user stories and prototype generation. Anyone, even with little to no experience, can quickly and cost-effectively develop an app using AI,” says Sachin Dev Duggal, founder and chief wizard at Builder.ai, an AI-powered composable software platform that allows every business and entrepreneur to become digitally powered.
Despite the relative ease of developing an app
harnessing today’s AI tech, it’s nevertheless important to get your app right. With over 77% of users uninstalling an app within the first three days after download, according to WifiTalents, you’ll want to ensure your app provides your users with real value.
So, before building your app, first consider
how it will help customers, and how it will help you solve your short- and long-term business objectives.
Asking yourself these questions can give you clarity on the type of app you need, how you will fund and maintain your app, and how it will function.
Finding Human Connection In Support Of U.S. Service Members
In order to honor the sacrifices and contributions of the people who serve in the U.S. military, it’s important to recognize the human aspect of military service, and that includes acknowledging the importance of the support networks and camaraderie that boost morale throughout their journey.
The USO is continuing its long history of bridging understanding between service members and civilians with its “Human to Human” campaign, which is intended to build empathy for the sacrifices made by service members and their families, and to highlight the human aspect of military service.
As part of the campaign, the USO brought together seven pairs of strangers at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Each pair consisted of one service member and one civilian, asking each other questions printed on cards the USO provided. As they sat across from one another with both excitement and nervousness, neither knew what role the other played. These facts would later be discovered — not with the “big reveal” of a reality show, but through the natural connections they made.
The conversations were surprising, powerful and unifying, with moments of realization, connection and even a few tears. Civilians who participated say they walked away from the experience with a new understanding of how service members find strength in the
support of others.
Here are a few ways you can join the USO in supporting U.S. military members:
• Send a message of gratitude and support to those who serve.
• Watch the “Human to Human” video to experience the connection between service members and civilians when they discover they are more alike than they expected.
• Spread awareness and show appreciation for the people who serve in America’s military in person and online.
• Make a donation to the USO to help support programming that benefits members of the military, and to receive a USO T-shirt, so you can showcase that you’re a military supporter.
• Learn more and take action at USO.org/humantohuman.
To honor past and present military members and their families, be sure to take the time to learn about the human aspect of their service. (StatePoint)
When you are ready to begin development, here are the benefits you can anticipate by using AI to meet your objectives:
• Rapid development: AI-driven platforms significantly reduce development time.
• Unlimited customizations: AI app development platforms offer pre-built, customizable modules.
• High performance: AI creates highperformance apps with fast load times and smooth user experiences.
• Cost efficiency: AI reduces the need for extensive developer hiring, lowering costs.
• Error reduction: Around 66% of software projects fail. The primary cause? Human error.
• Seamless articulation: New AI technology allows you to speak directly with the development platform, enabling you to convey your ideas and instructions effortlessly, making app development more intuitive and efficient.
So, how do you actually use AI to build your app? In the case of Builder.ai, it’s as simple as following these simple steps:
1. Choose and customize a base template.
2. Review and finalize features.
3. Identify the app’s platform (Android, iOS, desktop) and build a timeline.
4. Establish a payment plan.
5. Match with a product expert for guidance.
6. Review and monitor the app’s progress.
7. Launch your app.
8. Leverage data from your app to optimize business.
To learn more about developing your app with Builder.ai, visit https://www.builder. ai/. “AI automates repetitive tasks, code generation, bug detection and testing, resulting in shorter development cycles and reduced costs while maintaining high quality.
By giving everyone, regardless of their tech knowledge the power to build applications, we’re removing the barriers that have traditionally stopped individuals and business owners from unlocking their potential,” says Duggal. (StatePoint)
Firearm Safety Begins At Home
Firearm violence has become the leading killer of children and young adults under 24, surpassing deaths from vehicle collisions since 2017. And while daily headlines emphasize news of mass shootings, most firearms-related deaths and injuries are preventable and occur in a familiar place -- at home.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is not only calling attention to the sobering statistics, but is also offering tools for families, communities and governmental entities to help prevent gun violence. Parents can learn more at HealthyChildren.org.
Approximately 40% of U.S. households with children have firearms, of which 15% stored at least one firearm loaded and unlocked, the storage method with the highest risk.
“Firearms are pervasive in Amer-
ica, but we do have reason for hope,” said Dr. Lois K. Lee, a pediatric emergency medicine physician who specializes in injury prevention. “Research has revealed effective ways to prevent or reduce the risks of harm, just as our country did to improve motor vehicle safety. This is a public health epidemic that we can do something
about, through a combination of regulation, legislation, education and individual steps like securely storing firearms in the home.”
Pediatric practitioners are encouraged to counsel families, offer mental health screenings and promote secure firearm storage as part of routine visits. As with other consumer products, the AAP supports
regulating firearms for safety and notes that national requirements could be established for safe storage, training, licensing, insurance coverage and registration.
State extreme risk protection order laws, also known as “red flag laws,” which prohibit individuals at risk of harming themselves or others from purchasing or owning a firearm by a court order, are also becoming more common.
Evidence shows that the risk of injury or death is greatly reduced when firearms are securely stored, unloaded and locked, with the ammunition locked in a separate place that youth can’t access. Unfortunately, 40% of U.S. households with children have firearms,
For Healthy Aging, Avoid These Common Obstacles To Good Nutrition
Proper nutrition is critical to older adults’ overall vitality, providing energy, helping to control weight, and even preventing and managing some diseases.
Unfortunately, 10% of older people don’t eat enough, while onethird eat too much, according to HealthinAging.org, which is the Health in Aging Foundation’s online public education resource.
Such nutritional imbalances may be due to the range of common obstacles some people face as they age, including changing tastes, dental problems and difficulty accessing healthy foods.
“Charles,” a Cigna Healthcare Medicare Advantage (MA) customer, had several health issues when he was introduced to a nutrition program available through his MA plan.
Through the program, he worked with a registered dietitian, started working out, and lost nearly 50 pounds. These changes fueled him
to tackle additional health goals, including getting mental health support and assistance improving his sleep.
MA plans, like those offered by Cigna Healthcare, include “extra benefits” not available through Original Medicare.
The Cigna Healthcare MA nutrition program is one of those extras, and it primarily supports older adults with a body mass index below 22 or above 40, those with chronic diseases like diabetes and kidney disease, and those with low fruit and vegetable intake.
Through the program, registered dietitians provide customers with dietary advice that can help them improve their health.
“We offer information, education and resources that are different for everybody and not restrictive,” explained Robin Neal, RD, one of the program’s dietitians. “The goal is to provide skills and tools so individuals can self-manage their diet
after the program ends.”
Neal said results often include weight loss and improved blood sugar readings, such as those Charles experienced.
Of course, program advice varies by individual and their unique nutritional needs, but some tips everyone can benefit from include the following:
Get your nutrients. According to the National Council on Aging, older adults should eat a variety of foods to get all the nutrients they need, including lean protein for muscle mass, as well as fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lowfat dairy.
Choose foods with little to no added sugar, saturated fats and sodium. For an example of what a healthy plate looks like, visit myplate.gov.
Stay hydrated. Drink water often to aid digestion. Limit beverages with lots of added sugars or salt.
of which 15% are stored in the least secure way.
One study demonstrated that if 20% of parents who currently store their firearms unlocked instead stored their firearms and ammunition locked away separately, there would be an estimated decrease of up to 122 pediatric firearm-related fatalities and 201 injuries annually nationwide.
Because having firearms at home substantially increases the risk of suicide, homicide and unintentional shootings, the AAP also suggests that families consider storing firearms outside the home completely.
“Even when they’ve been trained not to touch firearms, we know that young children are curious and will often pick up a firearm–and even pull the trigger–if they find it,” Dr. Lee said. “Make sure, wherever your child is going this summer for playdates and vacation–including the homes of relatives–that you ask about how firearms are secured in the home.
Visit the dentist. If you’re having trouble chewing, visit your dentist. They may be able to help. For instance, if you have ill-fitting dentures, chewing can be improved and more comfortable with a better fit.
Additionally, choosing softer foods, such as canned fruit, soups or tuna, may help. Dental visits are a covered benefit in many Medicare Advantage plans.
Follow food safety guidelines. Food not prepared properly can make you sick.
Because those with weakened immune systems are vulnerable to foodborne illnesses, it’s especially important for older adults to follow food safety guidelines. If you have any doubt about a food’s safety, throw it out.
Limit salt. Too much sodium can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.
(Continued On Page 14)
“You can frame this as a safety conversation and talk about food allergies and car seats, and then ask about how firearms are stored. But also think about other options if you have concerns–perhaps offer to meet at a park or museum, or invite their child over to your home to play.”
Between 2015 and 2022, there were at least 2,802 unintentional shootings by children age 17 and younger. These resulted in 1,083 deaths and 1,815 nonfatal firearm injuries, nearly all among other kids. And at least 895 preschoolers and toddlers found a firearm and unintentionally shot themselves or someone else during this time.
“Ultimately, we will need a multipronged approach to substantially decrease firearm injuries and deaths among U.S. youth,” Dr. Lee said. “This is a public health epidemic that requires urgent, deliberative action. We must do better–our children deserve it.” (StatePoint)
Summer Mowing Tips For A Healthy, Lush Lawn
Late summer is a time of year when yards see a lot of foot traffic. Whether you’re hosting parties and events or your kids are running all over the lawn, your grass needs to be in tiptop shape. In a recent Backyard Life video, the multimedia destination of lawn care equipment manufacturer Exmark, product manager Chris Lamme offers insights for keeping grass healthy and lush all season. He says: “When it comes to maintaining a beautiful lawn, the main factors to consider are the height of your cut and the frequency of cut, and that starts with knowing what type of grass you have.”
According to Lamme, these three strategies can help you cultivate a healthy lawn:
1. Know your grass. Before you start mowing, it’s crucial that you know what grass type you’re working with. Different areas of the country will have grasses specific to their climates. Warmseason grasses, found in southern states, should be cut to a height of
For
2 to 3.5 inches—on the shorter for Bermuda and Centipede grasses and on the longer side for St. Augustine and Zoysia grasses. Coolseason grasses, found in northern states can be trimmed down to 3 to 4 inches—on the shorter side for Bluegrass and Ryegrass, and on the longer side for Fescues. While moisture, sun exposure and temperatures can vary cut height needs, typically grasses should be mowed to the upper end of their recommended cut heights during the heat of the summer. If you’re not sure of your grass type or you
live in the transition zone, stick to the rule of thumb of cutting onethird of the grass’ height. These guidelines are important, as mowing too short can damage the roots, leaving your grass unable to absorb nutrients from the soil. However, if you let it get too long, you’re going to bog down the mower when you do get around to the task.
2. Don’t over- or under-mow. Over- or under-mowing your lawn can lead to unhealthy grass and bare patches, so consider how regularly you mow. Strive to
Healthy Aging, Avoid These Common Obstacles To Good Nutrition
(Continued From Page 13) To stay heart healthy, ask your doctor for guidance on recommended daily sodium limits based on your health status and check food labels for sodium content.
Cook more meals at home using lower sodium ingredients and avoid processed foods. Flavor dishes with herbs and spices. Seek assistance if needed. Take
advantage of MA plan benefits that can help you secure healthy foods, like transportation or grocery cards.
Additionally, there are local and national programs to help those on limited incomes with nutritious food costs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). To learn about assistance available in your area,
mow when the height of the grass grows to the point that one-third of its length will be mowed. So, if you’re mowing to a height of two inches, let the grass grow to three inches before mowing. Mulching is also helpful during the summer, as it keeps moisture and nutrients on the lawn, reducing the need to water and fertilize. Pay attention to what your lawn needs, don’t just fall into a strict routine.
3. Change up the direction. Mowing in the same direction or pattern every time can damage your grass. When you mow too often in one direction, it can push the grass down and give you an uneven cut, even leaving ruts in your yard if you’re not careful. Be sure to change up
the patterns and direction of mowing to ensure a nice, even cut quality every time.To view the video as well as to access more tips on all things outdoor life and learn your turf zone, visit exmark.com/backyard.

Typically, elder scams involve the transfer of money to a stranger or imposter for a promised benefit or good. In 2023, banks reported more than $27 billion in suspicious activity related to elder scams, according to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and reports filed by the public to the Federal Bureau of Investigation indicated an average loss of more than $33,000 per case. And these numbers may be conservative, as elder fraud cases may be underreported.
One technology behind these staggering figures is artificial intelligence (AI). Advanced methods of masking one’s identity using AI make it difficult to detect fakes. Voice print – or voice clone –scamming is becoming more of an issue when it comes to impersonation fraud. Using voice clips from social media or by calling and having a brief conversation with someone, criminals can generate
an imitation to be used as part of their ruse. “Older adults are often easier prey for these types of fakes, because a recognized voice when applied to certain scam strategies is often enough to elicit action,” says Mark Kwapiszeski, head of Enterprise Fraud at PNC.
Two Scam Strategies to Watch For
Most scams targeting elders generally follow one or two main strategies: 1) elicit strong feelings and apply a sense of urgency to get someone to act quickly before thinking, and/or 2) entice someone with an offer that seems too good
to be true, yet too alluring to pass up. Here are some of the more common types of elder scams: Scams That Apply a Sense of Urgency:
• Tech Support. Someone will claim they need to remotely access the victim’s computer to fix a software problem, then use that access to steal personal or financial information.
• Government Imposter. The fraudster may tell the victim they owe a debt that must be paid immediately or face arrest, asset seizure or termination of benefits.
• Grandparent. An elaborate story
is given by phone and sometimes involves a voice print of an actual grandchild, claiming a loved one is in trouble and needs money to be protected.
Scams That Offer Something Too Good to Be True:
• Investment. The scammer makes claims of a high-return investment to trick the victim into giving them money, often asking to be paid in an unconventional way, like cryptocurrency, where there’s little to no chance of recovering the funds.
• Romance. The scammer develops a fake identity and creates the illusion of a romantic relationship to manipulate or steal from the victim.
• Lottery/Sweepstakes. Scammers make contact by phone or mail to tell the victim they’ve won the lottery or a sweepstakes but claim the elder has to remit a processing fee before they can get their prize.
Take Protective Measures and Stay Alert
The most effective way of preventing fraud is to pause when being rushed and take time to verify the
legitimacy of both the person making contact and their claims. To reduce the odds of your voice being cloned, experts suggest exercising caution when speaking on the phone with strangers. If someone unfamiliar contacts you, disconnect from the original communication channel, verify their identity, then attempt to make contact through a different channel.
For instance, hang up the phone, get a number for the company, government agency or family member from a trusted source (such as a company’s official website) and use that to call back and verify. When it comes to scammers that establish a relationship over time, verify legitimacy using third-party resources before investing. Be leery of anyone asking for nontraditional payment forms, and when logic may be clouded by romantic feelings, confide in someone you trust for an objective opinion.

The organization’s initiatives also serve as a tangible expression of the community’s commitment to their success, reinforcing the idea that they are not alone in their academic journeys.
HC4A’s Astute Response
Hindu Charities for America (HC4A) has astutely identified the lack of school supplies as a critical barrier to academic success for low-income students in Central Texas. By providing backpacks filled with essential supplies for the entire school year, HC4A directly addresses this need, alleviating the financial burden on families and teachers alike. This initiative not only enhances the educational experience for students but also serves as a tangible expression of the community’s commitment to their success. It underscores the importance of

High-ROI Home Projects
Whether you’re looking to add value for potential sale or simply create a more comfortable living space, now is the perfect time to breathe new life into your home with projects that provide a high return on investment (ROI).
Consider these top home renovation projects from the experts at Westlake Royal Building Products – a leader in innovation, design and production of exterior and interior building products including siding, trim, mouldings, roofing, stone, windows, outdoor living and more –based on the 2024 Cost vs. Value Report from “Remodeling Magazine.”
Remodel the Kitchen and Bathroom
The average seller can expect an 96.1% return on a light touch to the kitchen, according to the report, and 73.7% on a modest bathroom renovation.
Because personal preferences can vary widely among buyers, minor upgrades can provide a higher ROI than large, upscale remodels. A few easy ways to refresh your kitchen or bathroom include updating shelving or adding new hardware. Decorative trim and mouldings are also costeffective ways to add visual interest.
Upgrade with Stone Veneer
As natural and textured home trends continue, homeowners are gravitating toward stone veneer, or manufactured stone, as it can replicate the look of real stone, adding comfort, character and beauty to homes. An option like Versetta Stone from Westlake Royal Building Products offers the authentic, handcrafted look of stone in a panelized format that’s easy to install with nails and screws. There’s also no need to paint, coat or seal once installed. Ideal for its ability to add texture and dimension throughout both home interior (accent walls and fireplaces) and exterior applications (siding, entryways and walkways), stone veneer – which comes with a 153.2% ROI – can influence mood, emotion and energy levels while serving as a focal point of your home’s design.
Install New Windows
Depending on the harshness of winter in your area and the age of your home, you may notice certain windows have developed drafts, allowing cold air to enter and heat to escape. Replacing drafty or outdated windows with modern, energy-efficient models is one of the most effective ways to enhance your home’s energy efficiency. Additionally, a vinyl window replacement brings approximately 67.1% ROI.
Replace Siding
In some cases, applying a fresh coat of paint is enough to refresh your home. However, if you’re looking to enhance your home’s curb appeal while making a long-term impact, consider installing new siding or replacing
existing siding. Because vinyl siding serves as an additional layer of insulation, improving the energy efficiency of your heating and cooling systems, it offers a 80.2% ROI. Weather-resistant, low-maintenance siding like Celect Cellular Composite Siding, which is now available in on-trend colors including Imperial Red, a robust shade of red; Deep Pewter, a compellingly modern forest green; and Timberland, a rich, natural brown, won’t warp, sag or buckle and is built to withstand even the harshest weather conditions. Its patented interlocking joints provide a seamless look and it’s easy to install in small spaces, like along a knee or pony wall.
Update Decking
If you want to entertain guests outside, it’s a perfect time to get your patio or deck ready. While a new coat of stain can update your existing deck’s appearance and help protect it, now is also an ideal time to build a deck if your home doesn’t currently have one. When choosing a decking material, cost and maintenance are two factors to consider. Composite decking offers a 68.2% ROI and is low maintenance as it’s not susceptible to cracking, warping and weather damage.

Workin’ 5-9 Make The Most Of Your Morning Hours For More Productive Days
From a regenerative bath to that first cup of coffee, early morning rituals have the power to heal, restore and fuel. They can leave you feeling accomplished, empowered and ready to take on the day. How you spend your hours from 5-9 each day can ensure you’re well prepared to tackle whatever your 9-5 throws your way.
Establishing a well-planned and consistent routine removes the guesswork and makes it easy to accomplish more during these essential hours that set the stage for the day ahead. Get a jumpstart on your day with these tips to make the most of your morning routine.
Set Personal Goals
Just as no two people are exactly alike, your morning routine should reflect your unique needs. Some people need these early hours to ease out of sleep and gradually work toward a busy day while others jump out of bed ready to set the day in motion. Decide what you can realistically accomplish in your waking hours before you hit the office or school drop-off line and plan a sequence that makes sense for you and your family. When you have a steady routine in place, it’s typically easier to keep up with habits like early morning workouts, and on days when your energy is lagging, you can shift into autopilot and still get everything done.
Create a Rejuvenating Space
No matter your 5-9 routine, the bathroom is central to it. You can start the day with a more positive outlook when you get ready in a space that’s equal parts functional and beautiful. With stunning design, innovative features that make life easier, environmentally conscious performance and do-ityourself installation ease, the Aspirations Collection from American Standard provides a full suite of bathroom products to start your day right.
This collection gives you plenty of reason to consider upgrades, whether coordinating a full bathroom and accessories or install-
ing just one or two elements like a unique faucet. Choose one with a pull-out, swivel spout to quickly clean those hard-to-reach corners or a touchless option for handsfree convenience. Find the right sink to match with four different stylish options that lend a personal design while streamlining morning routines for you and your family. Awaken your senses with a fourfunction showerhead and keep all your bathing essentials organized with a clever shelving wall panel. Reflecting nearly 150 years of quality craftsmanship, design and reliability, each piece within the collection delivers big on style and performance.
Practice Good Sleep Habits
The way you end each day influences how you start the next one. Going to bed on time, avoiding screen time before you turn out the lights and creating a comfortable sleep environment are all keys to restful sleep. However, managing your sleep doesn’t end once you reach dreamland; your wake-up routine is also an essential aspect of a healthy sleep schedule. One of the biggest detriments to quality sleep is hitting snooze to delay your day. Just a few more minutes easily becomes 20, 30 or more and none of that time is quality rest, so you’re not really gaining anything.
Ensure You’re Well-Equipped
Few things can sidetrack a good morning routine like discovering an empty bottle of shampoo or an empty can of shaving cream. Make
Make Time for Breakfast
Countless studies affirm the importance of a well-rounded breakfast. Researchers have found good nutrition provides fuel to help give you energy, promote clearer thinking and problem solving, improve mood and memory, and more. If you can’t stomach a full meal, look for alternatives to give your system a morning boost, such as a protein-rich smoothie early and a more substantial snack later in the morning.
Enjoy a Mindful Moment
a habit of regularly taking inventory of your morning supplies. Watch for sales so you can keep backups on hand to ensure you’ll always have your favorite toiletry items ready to help you feel refreshed and ready to go.
Making time to relax or do something you enjoy can set a positive tone for the day. You might savor a few quiet moments over a cup of coffee or spend quality time with a pet. Early morning light and na-
ture sounds can provide calming background for meditation, or you might simply use the time to organize your to-do list so you feel better prepared to tackle the day.
Take Time to Tidy Up
When it’s time to put the workday behind you, it can be easier to make the mental shift from work mode to life mode when there’s not a list full of chores awaiting you at home. As part of your morning routine, make your bed, clean your vanity countertop and complete other small chores to make your evening load lighter.

Enjoy a Seamless Audio Experience
Whether you’re listening to music during your commute, participating in online classes or working on multimedia projects, headphones
are an essential school supply for many students in today’s digital age. To enhance your learning experience, choose headphones that provide noise cancellation, comfort, durability and superior sound quality. Over-ear headphones typically provide better sound isolation
and are more comfortable for extended use, but inear headphones provide ultra-portable convenience. Decide which type best suits your needs best and choose a color or pattern that also reflects your personal style.

Make School Mornings More Manageable
Getting a family up and out the door before the school bell rings is no small task. Sometimes it can even seem impossible, especially when you encounter unexpected events like a wardrobe mishap or overflowing toilet.
Make mornings run more smoothly this school year with these tips from the experts at American Standard, who know all about the best tools to operate a successful household.
Work ahead, starting your morning before bed. You can lay the foundation for a successful morning before the new day even arrives. Spend time planning for the day ahead before tucking little ones in for the night. Choose outfits, track down missing shoes and verify homework is done and in backpacks before they turn in for the night. Taking time to troubleshoot in the evening can save precious minutes in the morning.
Stick to a standard wake-up routine. Getting kids out of bed when the alarm rings is only half the battle; getting them in motion is the next step. Help your little ones build effective habits so they can start preparing for the day while they’re still shaking away the lingering sleepiness. Lay out a sequence of events they’ll do every morning, such as visiting the bathroom, brushing teeth and hair, getting dressed, making the bed and eating a balanced breakfast. Encouraging these habits builds independence and self-esteem while helping your mornings move faster.
Cut back on messy moments. It’s virtually impossible to supervise every moment of your child’s getready routine, but having a home outfitted with the right equipment can make those moments out of sight less concerning. For example, school-aged kids might expect privacy in the bathroom, but they’re not immune to a little mischief and keeping things tidy is rarely their top priority. Consider American Standard’s innovative Champion Toilet that provides the perfect solution to some possibly messy situations. With the industry’s largest trap-way, you can expect a cleaner,
more effective flush, ensuring dependable performance every time. It’s virtually impossible to clog –in testing, it even handled flushing a bucket of golf balls – providing
the confidence you need that it can withstand your child’s messiest moments. Plus, its power-wash rim cleans the bowl with every flush and the patented EverClean stain-
fighting surface inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.
Plan time to talk. Often, if kids are dragging their feet in the morning, it’s because they’re dreading something about the day ahead. It could be a test or a conflict with a peer, or it might be something else entirely. Look for signs of concerns and offer an open environment where kids can share their worries with you even when time is tight. Talking about concerns after school is a smart way to tackle worries when they’re fresh, but
reinforcing those conversations in the morning can send kids out the door more confidently.
Embrace simplicity and provide nutrition. Trying to cram too much into the morning can set you up for struggles. Avoid piling on too many morning chores and aim for basic breakfasts that provide the necessary fuel to start the day without extra fuss. A well-rounded breakfast with grains, protein and some fresh fruit makes for a perfect way to start the day. That might be a protein-packed cereal and a banana or maybe a frozen breakfast burrito and cup of grapes.

Sleep Apnea Is More Than A Snore
(Continued From Page 01) Snoring throughout the night. Gasping for air suddenly while sleeping. Feeling tired after a night of rest. These aren’t just signs of a poor night’s sleep – they could be symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder characterized by a repetitive collapse of the airway during sleep. Most people with sleep apnea don’t even know they have it – in fact, 80% of people with sleep apnea in the United States are undiagnosed, according to research published in the “American Journal of Epidemiology.”
Experts from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) recommend most adults get at least seven hours of sleep each night without waking frequently. If you have untreated sleep apnea, healthy, uninterrupted sleep can be hard to achieve. When the airway collapses or becomes blocked while you sleep, it causes you to wake briefly – maybe with a snore or gasp for air – to unblock the airway.
Untreated sleep apnea can contribute to long-term health problems, including hypertension (high blood pressure), heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes and depression. Overall quality of life can also suffer. It can lead to a decline in mood, lower work productivity, difficulty concentrating and making decisions and an increased likelihood of getting into a traffic accident due to sleepiness.
The disorder may even affect your family and relationships; snoring or poor sleep due to sleep apnea can keep your family members up at night, affect your mood with others and impact your general decision-making. Consider this additional information about sleep apnea from Count on Sleep, a col-
laborative awareness program led by the AASM.
Signs and symptoms of OSA:
• Snoring or noisy breathing
• Stopping breathing while asleep
• Waking up gasping or choking
• Restless sleep or waking up tired and groggy after a full night’s sleep
• Insomnia
• Waking up frequently to use the bathroom
• Having headaches in the morning
• Feeling sleepy or falling asleep during the day
• Having difficulty with memory or concentrating
• Mood changes or irritability
• Drowsy driving
Risk factors for OSA:
• Overweight or obesity (BMI of more than 30)
• High blood pressure
• Neck size of more than 17 inches for men; 16 inches for women
• Coronary artery disease (a type of heart disease) or heart attack
• Atrial fibrillation or other heart rhythm problems
• Congestive heart failure
• Type 2 diabetes
• Stroke
• Daytime sleepiness
If you think you may have undiagnosed sleep apnea, talk to your doctor about your signs, symptoms, risk factors and concerns. If friends or family members exhibit these symptoms, urge them to talk to a doctor.
Your doctor may screen or test you for sleep apnea, which could include an at-home sleep test or sleep study at an accredited sleep center. If diagnosed, treatment options include continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, oral appliance, surgery or lifestyle changes.
Learn more about how sleep apnea affects health and take a short quiz to see if you may be at risk at countonsleep.org.
Sidebar: Sleep Apnea Treatments
When followed properly, sleep apnea treatment improves breathing, sleepiness and quality of life. Some people may find the disorder improves through lifestyle changes such as losing weight, sleeping on
their side or quitting smoking or drinking alcohol. Most of the time, however, other treatment options are necessary, such as:
CPAP
The most common and recognized treatment for sleep apnea, a CPAP machine provides a steady stream of air to keep your airway open throughout the night.
Oral appliance therapy
Similar to a mouthguard, an oral appliance can be worn at night to prevent the airway from collapsing by moving the jaw forward.
Surgery
If lifestyle changes, CPAP or oral appliance therapy don’t work, there are surgical options to treat sleep apnea. They include upper airway stimulation, which uses an implanted device to stimulate a nerve that controls the tongue, moving it forward while you sleep. How NASA Is Using AI On The Perseverance Rover To Study Mars Rocks
By Georgina Torbet
Space engineers have been using AI in rovers for some time now — hence why today’s Mars explorers are able to pick a safe landing site and to drive around a region autonomously. But something they haven’t been able to do before now is to do science themselves, as most of that work is done by scientists on Earth who analyze data and point the rover toward targets they want to investigate.
Now, though, NASA’s Perseverance rover is taking the first steps toward autonomous science investigation on Mars. The rover has been testing out an AI capability for the last three years, which allows it to search for and identify particular minerals in Mars rocks.
The system works using the rover’s PIXL instrument (Planetary Instrument for X-ray Lithochemistry), a spectrometer that uses light to analyze what rocks are made of. The software, called adaptive sampling, looks though PIXL’s data and identifies minerals to be studied in more detail.
“We use PIXL’s AI to home in on key science,” explained PIXL’s principal investigator, Abigail Allwood of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, in a statement.
“Without it, you’d see a hint of
something interesting in the data and then need to rescan the rock to study it more. This lets PIXL reach a conclusion without humans examining the data.”
The system runs on board the rover, with no intervention from Earth
required. That means it saves on precious time, not only by choosing targets for the scientists but also because it doesn’t require lengthy communication times.
“The idea behind PIXL’s adaptive sampling is to help scientists find
the needle within a haystack of data, freeing up time and energy for them to focus on other things,” said Peter Lawson, one of the developers of the software. “Ultimately, it helps us gather the best science more quickly.”
The AI system works by taking data from PIXL, then repositioning the instrument (which is mounted on Perseverance’s arm) using its camera so it can get in close to take a detailed reading without hitting the rock. You can see the system in action in a (kind of adorable) video of an Earth-based model of PIXL. The system will take a reading from one small patch of rock, and if it finds indications of minerals that are interesting to science, it can automatically collect more data on that area.
“PIXL is kind of a Swiss army knife in that it can be configured depending on what the scientists are looking for at a given time,” said David Thompson, who helped develop the software. “Mars is a great place to test out AI since we have regular communications each day, giving us a chance to make tweaks along the way.” (Courtesy: https://www.digitaltrends.com/)

WASHINGTON, DC – JULY 23, 2024 – The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) today announced the appointment of Navin Girishankar as president of its Economic Security and Technology Department.
The newly established department will bring together nearly a dozen CSIS programs to provide government and business leaders with cross-cutting research on economic and technology policies and their critical role in U.S. national security. The department will focus on areas shaping U.S. industrial strategy and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving geopolitical
context—AI and semiconductors; energy security and climate transition; critical minerals; strategic technologies such as digital, quantum, and cybersecurity; trade and investment policies; intellectual property and innovation ecosystems; and economic relations with China and partners around the world.
The department will also convene political, business, and thought leaders to debate the most complex economic security and technology issues facing the United States and its allies. The department’s creation is part of a broader strategic realignment of CSIS programming, to be formally launched this fall, to better prepare the institution to meet global challenges in the coming decades.
“Today, national security is determined as much by global techno-
logical and commercial competition as it is by traditional defense. It is essential for the government to integrate these issues into U.S. national security planning and to work collaboratively with the private sector—an untapped resource offering a wealth of expertise on how best to transform our approach to economic security in the 21st century,” said John Hamre, CSIS president and CEO.
“The creation of the Economic Security and Technology Department marks a major commitment by CSIS to lead this policy debate. Navin Girishankar is among Washington’s most trusted economic strategists on domestic and international issues, with a unique track record over three decades across government, business, and the international finance institutions. He is the perfect choice to lead this initiative.”
Girishankar joins CSIS after serving as the senior counselor to the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce since January 2022 on a wide range of domestic and international issues. In that role, he crafted the Department’s place-based framework for industrial investments in chips, broadband, and other strategic technologies; its use of trade and investment tools to counter national security threats related to dual use technologies; its approach to U.S.-China economic relations; and U.S. economic diplomacy efforts with allies in the Indo-Pacific,
Europe, and the Global South. Prior to his service in government, Girishankar held senior commercial roles at Bridgewater Associates, where he worked with founder Ray Dalio advising the largest institutional investors in the Middle East and Asia. Prior to Bridgewater, Navin spent over two decades
at the World Bank, where he held senior policy, country, finance, and evaluation roles, and led major initiatives, including its 2015 trade and competitiveness strategy. He holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Williams College.
“I’m honored to lead CSIS’s work on economic security and technology at a critical moment for the Center and for our country,” said Girishankar. “The United States and its allies are in the midst of a must-win global technology and commercial competition. What’s at stake is our long-term prosperity, the security of our economies and democracies from threats by malign actors, and our ability to overcome global crises such as climate change. CSIS Names Navin Girishankar Head Of Economic Security
(Continued From 20) It is imperative that we take a hard look at
our technology capabilities and vulnerabilities relative to others,
including China; modernize our economic and technology policy tool kit; and rethink our approach to public-private collaboration at home and economic alliances around the world. I believe the Economic Security and Technology Department and our worldclass team will play a central role in meeting this challenge.”
Scholars within the CSIS Economic Security and Technology Department are recognized as leading global experts on issues ranging from AI regulatory policy and the energy transition to trade competitiveness and economic relations with China and the Global South. 9 Exercises To Tone Your Legs And Strengthen The Lower Body
If excess fat tends to get accumulated around your thighs or legs, it may be time to focus on leg exercises that can help tone your leg muscles. Leg workouts, which include exercises such as high knees, squats and lunges, not only focus on toning leg muscles but also help burn fat and build strength in your lower body. When practiced regularly, these exercises can give you sleeker thighs, stronger calves, or better fitness performance. What’s more? Your risk of injury is also reduced! So, let us reveal some best exercises for toned legs.
Best exercises to tone leg muscles
Incorporating a variety of exercises that target different muscle groups in your lower body is essential to tone your legs. Here are 9 effective exercises that will help you achieve toned legs:
1. Rainbows
Rainbows are a great exercise for targeting the glutes and outer thighs, helping to shape and tone these areas. Here’s how to perform it:
Start on your hands and knees in a
tabletop position.
Lift one leg off the ground and keep another leg bent at a 90-degree angle.
Swing the leg out to the side and then back in a sweeping arc motion, as if drawing a rainbow with your foot.
Do 10 repetitions on the left side and then switch to the other leg. Do 3 sets.
2. High knees
High knees are excellent for cardiovascular fitness as well as strengthening and toning the lower body, including the quadriceps and hip flexors. Here’s how to do it:
Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart and your arms at your sides. Looking straight ahead, lift your left knee towards your chest as high as possible.
Quickly lower your left leg and lift your right leg, as if you are jogging in place.
Aim for a minimum of 4 sets of 50 high knees for each leg to burn more calories
3. Knee to elbow extensions
This exercise targets the core muscles along with the legs.
When practiced regularly, it helps strengthen leg muscles and lose fat. Here’s how to perform it:
Start in a plank position with your hands directly under your shoulders and your body in a straight line.
Bring your right knee towards your right elbow, crunching your abs. Extend your right leg towards the back. Now bring your left knee towards your left elbow.
Do 10 repetitions and perform the same movement on the other side. Perform 3 sets of this exercise.
4. Jumping squats
Jumping squats are a plyometric exercise that strengthens the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. By stimulating these areas, this exercise helps burn calories and tone leg muscles. Here’s how to perform it:
Begin in a squat position with feet shoulder-width apart and weight in the heels.
Lower into a squat, keeping your chest up as if you are going to sit
back on a chair.
Pushing through heels, jump up as high as you can, extending your legs completely.
Land softly back into the squat position and immediately jump again. Do 2-3 sets of 3-5 repetitions.
5. Walking lunges
Walking lunges effectively target the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes, helping to improve lower body strength and stability. Not only this, but it also boosts cardiovascular health. Here’s how to perform it:
Take a large step forward with your right leg, lowering your body until both knees are bent at a 90-degree angle.
Push off your right foot and bring it forward to meet your left foot. Repeat on the opposite side, alternating legs with each step forward. Focus on keeping your back straight and keeping the front knee aligned with the ankle. Do at least 12 repetitions on each leg and perform 2-3 sets.
6. Wall sit
Wall sits strengthen and tone leg muscles, including quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. They require no equipment, making them one of the easiest exercises to enhance lower body strength efficiently. Here’s how to perform it:
Stand with your back against the wall.
Slowly slide down until your knees are bent at a 90-degree angle.
Hold this position for as long as you can.
Slowly slide back up the wall to return to the standing position.
Do 2 sets of 10 reps
7. Superwoman
Superwoman targets the entire posterior chain, including the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings. It improves core stability, enhances spinal alignment, and strengthens
muscles crucial to improve your posture. Here’s how to perform it:
Lie with your face down on a mat and arms extended overhead. Now, lift your arms, chest, and legs off the ground together, squeezing your glutes.
Hold this position for a few seconds, then lower back down with control.
Do 3 sets of 10–12 reps.
8. Leg raise hold
Leg raise holds strengthen the lower abdominal muscles, hip flexors, and quadriceps while improving core strength. This exercise helps develop endurance in the lower body, enhances posture, and supports overall strength and flexibility in the legs. Here’s how to perform it:
Lie on your back with your legs straight and your arms by your sides.
Lift both legs off the ground to form a 45-degree angle with your body.
Hold this position for as long as you can, keeping your lower back pressed into the mat.
Do 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions.
9. Speed skater jumps
Speed skater jumps are a dynamic exercise that improves agility, balance, and cardiovascular fitness while toning your legs. Here’s how to perform it:
Start in a slight squat position with your knees bent and chest up. Leap to the right, landing on your right foot, while crossing your left leg behind your right.
Immediately leap to the left, landing on your left foot with your right leg crossed behind.
Continue alternating sides in a constant motion.
Perform 3-4 sets of 10-15 repetitions. (Courtesy: https://www. healthshots.com/)
Planting Trees In Memory Of Loved Ones Greens Chhattisgarh Village
(Continued From Page 01)
NEW DELHI, (CEOs) – As the world grapples with the effects of climate change, a ‘love story’ between people and trees in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district is capturing everyone’s attention.
Residents of Pisegaon, located on the banks of the Shivnath River, have a unique bond with trees, resulting in successful reforestation in the village.
The residents of this village plant a tree in memory of their deceased loved ones and name the tree after them.
Some consider the tree they planted as their spouse, while others consider them as their parents.
The villagers visit these trees daily, talk to them, worship them and even hug them, sharing their feelings and problems.
They spend hours by these trees, where they feel the presence of their deceased relatives.
One such story is that of Kumari Bai Deshmukh, 55 years old. She planted a nem tree in memory of her late husband Kanhaiya
Lal and considers him as her husband.
She visits the tree to worship it every morning. When she sits by the tree and talks to it, she feels the presence of her deceased husband.
Madhu Deshmukh lost her mother Lakshmi Deshmukh in her childhood. When Madhu was growing up, she came to Pisegaon after getting married.
One day she came to know about this unique tradition and planted a Madhukamini tree in
memory of her mother. Now it has grown big and is a source of solace for Madhu. Prerna Sahu, another villager, said, “I had seen my uncle planting trees here since grade four. Over time, I started planting trees myself, dedicating some of them to my deceased relatives.”
She visits the trees daily, worshipping them and taking time to sit and enjoy the surroundings. “Tampering with the environment is a threat to humanity. We are destroying forests
and not putting enough effort in planting trees.
Though many state governments are planting a lot of trees, lack of proper care means that the trees will not survive. It is mandatory to provide proper care after planting trees,” said another villager, Satish Singh.
“So far, more than a thousand people have planted seedlings. And they are also taking care of them regularly,” he informed.
Realising the need to care for young trees after planting and the new tradition of planting a tree in honour of a departed loved one, Pisegaon’s reforestation drive has been a huge success and has earned the villagers much praise. (Courtesy: https://www.aspireplayers.ca/)
SAIVA - Nrityawave
(Continued From Page 01)
The purpose with which Anushka initially started the club was to spread the Indian classical dance culture through Bharatnatyam to diversify the VRHS community.
However, throughout their journey, she realized how they could help serve the world outside VRHS better through the art of danc-
ing.
After researching about the positive health effects of dancing on the audience, it suddenly seemed like a great idea to bring smiles on the elderly faces around us.
Along with performing in the school’s fall and spring shows, Nrityawave strives to
serve the elderly community—a group that is almost never reached out to by young volunteers.
After visiting living facilities and reaching out to event directors at nursing homes, Nrityawave has finalized a few performances at different venues, a prime example being Brookdale Senior Living.
Nrityawave realized SAIVA promotes wellbeing for older South Asian adults and was eager for this opportunity to connect and interact with these elders.
As a kickstart, the 2022-23 officer team conducted an online interactive session with a few elders over Zoom. In the session, they
taught the elders some basic and easy-to-do dance moves, keeping in mind the minor health benefits from the same.
After realizing how much SAIVA appreciated the small interaction with Nrityawave, we can not wait to have them again.
Nrityawave, plans on continuing to help the community through our talent and passion, looking forward to many more opportunities in the coming future.
Other similar, impactful projects through SAIVA include therapy dolls and making pillows for cancer patients.
Such projects help to stimulate the senior citizens’ mental and motor skills while simultaneously empowering them with the knowledge that they are making a difference in the community.

Janhvi Kapoor Calls Mr. India As One Of ‘Best Films To Have Come Out Of Indian Cinema’
By Bollywood Hungama News Network
Janhvi delved into her thoughts on the possibility of a Mr. India sequel, the legendary film that catapulted her mother to stardom.
Janhvi Kapoor has firmly established herself as an actor to watch. With a string of critically acclaimed performances in films like Dhadak, Gunjan Saxena:
The Kargil Girl, and Mili, she has carved a niche for herself in the industry.
As she gears up for the release of her upcoming thriller, Ulajh, the actress opened up about her career, family, and the iconic legacy of her mother, Sridevi.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Janhvi delved into her thoughts on the possibility of a Mr. India sequel,
the legendary film that catapulted her mother to stardom.
When asked if she would be interested in being part of the much-
anticipated sequel, the actress expressed her reservations.
“Mr. India is one of the best films to have come out of Indian cin-
ema. I don’t know if a film like that should ever be remade or touched again,” she stated. “I don’t know what the plans for that are.
Again, I think the makers know best. Whoever the director would be, he will know best. Something as pure as that, you can’t enforce things on that.”
Despite being the daughter of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and the late legendary actress Sridevi, Janhvi maintains a healthy
distance from her father’s professional life. She shares, “Never have I been like, ‘No, I don’t want to do this film’. I trust his judgement, too much. I never reject it.
But I have never put that pressure on him to have me in his film. I am his daughter first and an actress speaking to a producer, second. It’s not even in my head. As a daughter, I want him to make decisions that are best for his business model; for his movie.
And I only want him to operate in that way, so I haven’t ever been like, ‘Please take me (in your film)’.”
With Ulajh set to release on August 2, 2024, and several other promising projects in the pipeline, including Devara: Part 1, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, and RC 16. (Courtesy: https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/)
