It’s been nearly three years since I bought this car and during that time it has driven fifteen thousand kilometers. I mainly use this car for driving in and around the city area and the only long trip I have driven in this car is to Nagarkot. I feel this car is more suited for city driving as it is very comfortable and perfect for my family. Inside the car too it is packed with features. I quite like the infotainment system here as I can listen to my music and take phone calls via Bluetooth which is very convenient. As a music lover the quality of sound from the speakers is also great. For my family the car is spacious enough and comfortable. I feel this car is economical too as even primarily driving in the city I get better than expected mileage.

Similarly when it comes to servicing too I am very satisfied. They always inform me and call me when it comes to the time of servicing. I feel that if you love your care and take good care of it then the car will love you back therefore I haven’t encountered any problems with my car. In the end I definitely recommend Hyundai vehicles to others due to its resale value and the great experience I had with my car.

Volkswagen introduced the Polo for the Indian and the Nepali market nearly seven years ago. With more than 14 million units sold, it is one of the world’s most successful compact cars. The Polo was Volkswagen’s offering in the premium hatchback segment in Nepal and ever since then the manufacturer has made timely updates to its appearance and the power train. The new Polo will be sold in six different trim lines. Included are the familiar Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims, a special Beats edition with an upgraded sound system and an R-line trim featuring re-profiled bumpers, standard 16-inch alloy wheels and darkened exterior elements among other unique touches. At the top of the line-up is the GTi. It receives a number of traditional cues, including uniquely-styled bumpers, a honeycomb grille insert, red highlights within the headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler atop the tailgate, LED tail lamps and dual-chromed tailpipes.

The Polo is 81mm longer, 63mm wider and 7mm lower than its predecessor. The increase in external dimensions combines with the improved packaging offered by the new MQB A0 platform to provide the new Polo with a larger interior, boasting a claimed 15mm increase in headroom up front and 30mm increase in headroom in the rear. Volkswagen also quotes a significant 71-litre improvement in luggage capacity at 351 liters. The design of the Polo takes its cues from Volkswagen’s very own Golf. The new hatchback has sporty lines and sharp creases all over, however, it still retains the essence of the Polo. The interior of the car has also been
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
thoroughly redesigned. The new dashboard is stylish and features a new steering wheel and more modern switchgear at the center. At the center of the cabin console is the Active Info Display, offered for the first time in a Volkswagen hatchback. This is similar to Audi’s virtual cockpit and when chosen as an option, it replaces the physical instrument cluster with a full digital display. The dashboard also houses a touch screen infotainment system which ranges from 6.5-8 inches in size and can display a variety of car and driver related information. The vehicle will also retain some standard safety features such as two-airbags for the front and ABS-EBD as well.
Volkswagen will reportedly offer the Polo with a choice of four petrol engines and one diesel. The petrol engine options will range from a tiny 1.0-litre, three-cylinder available as either a naturally aspirated or turbocharged unit to a substantially larger 1.5-litre TSI unit and a range-topping 2.0-litre TSI unit for the new GTI. Select markets will also get a natural-gas-propelled 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged motor. On the diesel front, the Polo is only offered with a 1.6-litre diesel in multiple states of tune. While there is no official news about VW introducing the sixth-gen Polo to Nepal we hope the launch is sooner rather than later.

BENELLI LEONCINO NOW AVAILABLE IN NEPAL
22
AUTOLIFE FEB/MARCH 2018
Benelli is a marque on the attack. Over the past six months, Italy’s oldest existing motorcycle brand – now with Chinese owners – has been rolling out a succession of attractively priced, well-engineered and crisply styled new models in an array of different capacities, each embodying a family of models. The long-awaited charge of Chinese manufacturers into Nepali markets has well and truly begun.
Benelli has managed to re-imagine one of the Pesaro firm’s most beloved motorcycles, The Leoncino. The Leoncino, meaning lion cub, is the Italian bike maker’s attempt at jumping on to the retro-styling bike market, which has spurned many motorcycles from various manufacturers over the past couple of years. The chief among these is the eponymous Scrambler from fellow Italian bike maker Ducati.
The Benelli Leoncino has made its way to the domestic market as a middle weight scrambler. It was developed in Italy by Benelli’s engineering team headed by R&D manager Stefano Michelotti, but made by parent company Qianjiang in a modern and well equipped factory in Wenling, China. With over a centenary of heritage and inspiration to draw from, the new CentroStile
The design of The Leoncino seems to be an excellent mix of an old-school bike with all the bells and whistles of modern technology. From the front fender, which proudly displays the Lion of Pesaro, on to the new front headlamp featuring cutting edge LED technology, then to the fuel tank and seat, all flowing and emphasizing the personality of this all new Leoncino. The bike is made to conquer both
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
city and wild life with it coming in two variants with the Leoncino trail being more of an all-terrain scrambler. The Leoncino is powered by a 499.6cc, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected, parallel-twin that produces 49.6hp at 8,500rpm and 45Nm at 5,000rpm. This engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission and features a wet clutch. Typical of Benellis, the Leoncino sports topnotch parts. The engine is housed within a tubular steel trellis frame and the bike sits on 17-inch wheels at either end. Pirelli Angel ST tyres will be standard (120/70 R17 upfront, 160/60 R17 at the rear). The fork is a 50mm USD unit while the rear gets a monoshock with 112mm of wheel travel. ABS is standard and it gets a 320 mm twin-disc setup with 4-piston calipers at the front, with a 260mm disc (with a singlepiston caliper) at the rear. With 785mm seat height and 185 mm of ground clearance, it will make it accessible and practical and its 207kg kerb weight shouldn’t be a hindrance given its expected spirited dynamics. The 13.5-litre fuel tank might prove to be a tad small for highway runs but this will certainly be compensated for by the involving riding package the Leoncino promises to be. The Benelli Leoncino will be available in Nepal in four shades. Red, Green, Black and Grey and is priced at nearly nine lakhs.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES WILL THE TREND CATCH UP ?
WORDS: PRASHANT MANANDHAR
Electric Vehicles (EV) are revolutionizing the world of automobiles, with many believing that the roads will be ruled by EVs and bring about a vehicular revolution. With that being said, EVs have not yet been able to surpass combustion engines at the moment; they are growing at a substantial rate showcasing almost a whopping growth of 100% each year worldwide. Then again, will this trend catch up in Nepal? Will EVs be able to sustain themselves and make a place in the competitive market?
24
AUTOLIFE FEB/MARCH 2018
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
The rise of electric vehicles started in Nepal during 2015, the year of the blockade, when fossil fuels were cut off almost completely. At that moment, many people opted for EVs as an alternative to vehicles with combustion engines. We would see people silently zooming around, commuting the city in their electric scooters and compact cars. This time period demonstrated a huge growth in sales of EVs; but it only turned out to be momentary as this had just been a substitute for most of the people. After the blockade was lifted off, the sales weren’t what it used to be. Many reverted back to using their combustion vehicles and their EVs sat collecting dust in their garages. Yes, some still do opt for EVs, but as a secondary vehicle and as a commuting alternative within the boundaries of cities. It seems that people are still not convinced that EVs would serve them good. They perceive these vehicles to only be tools for commuting and think that they cannot benefit from them in the long run. Most people are concerned that these vehicles won’t get them far enough; what’s the point of getting a car if it can’t even get you to Pokhara from Kathmandu in a single charge? The electric cars that we get here can go up to 120kms in a single charge and electric scooters go somewhere up to 60kms to 80kms, but most of the automobile customers’ main purpose of owning vehicles is for long distance travels and city hopping. EVs just don’t offer that kind of mileage at the moment, and the absence of power station to charge
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
them further discourages potential customers. However, in the past two years, companies like Terra Motors, Niu Scooters, Bella motors and other prominent manufacturers introducing EVs like the Mahindra Reva and the Kia Soul EV, we can definitely say that the market of EV have lot more to offer than what we can presently see. The growth of EVs is slowly catching up and many are going in for EVs as their first vehicles. But still, with a higher cost compared to combustion engine vehicles, the sales of EVs have not seen a substantial growth in the Nepali market to stand out.
MOST PEOPLE ARE CONCERNED THAT THESE VEHICLES WON’T GET THEM FAR ENOUGH; WHAT’S THE POINT OF GETTING A CAR IF IT CAN’T EVEN GET YOU TO POKHARA FROM KATHMANDU IN A SINGLE CHARGE?
In perspective of the same, we can also hope that there might be an increase in the EV sales as the NEA is planning to install power stations to promote the use of EVs. The first phase will be in Kathmandu and other major cities, then gradually cover other parts of the nation. Also, the Nepalese government has reduced the taxes and tariffs applicable on EVs to promote its use and allow traders to bring in better and advanced EVs which would be more efficient and convenient with better mileage. But the question still remains: can we expect to see a revolution in the automotive industry with the growth of EVs? Will the trend of EVs really catch up in Nepal? That’s something only time can tell with the developments in infrastructures and the availability of EVs in the future. Maybe, eventually, the trend will catch on and there will be a revolution of EVs.

IN CONVERSATION WITH
Saurabh Jyoti
On Honda XR 190L: The Successor Director at Jyoti Group of Companies and Chairman of Syakar Trading Company WORDS: AL TE AM
Honda Nepal has added another product in its arsenal with the introduction of the XR 190L. The XR 190L is all set to be the successor of the legendary Honda XL 185. Till date the XL 185 has a huge following, addressing this, Honda has launched the modern iteration of the XL 185, - the 184.4 cc” Honda XR 190L. The XR 190 has a bevy of features like spoked rims, long travel suspension, a reliable air-cooled engine and PGM-Fi(Fuel Injection) which makes it a perfect off roader. To talk more about this bike we had the chance to catch up with Saurabh Jyoti, Director at Jyoti Group of Companies and Chairman of Syakar Trading Company. WHAT MAKES THE XR 190 L THE SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR TO THE ICONIC XL 185? The distribution of XL 185 and XL 125 was initiated in Nepal in 1982. At that time, it was the epitome for the bikes in Nepal. When people used to see a bike in the street, they automatically thought it was a Honda, it was synonymous with bikes. It set a trend because at that moment, taking into consideration the poor road condition and environment, it was a go anywhere bike, so it was doing good in Nepal. But in 1998, the production came to halt in Japan. After that, the bikes from India started to enter in the Nepalese market, which was available for a lower price due to lower cost of production and mass production. Even though, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India had entered the market, there were no bikes in the off-road segment and the bike enthusiasts who wanted an off-road bike succumbed to a certain kind of void. So as to fill that void, many competitor brands started to emerge. But we didn’t have a product in that segment for a long time. Even the customers were demanding that Honda should re-introduce off-road bikes such as the XL185 and XL125. After a lot of research we identified the new XR 190L, in terms of specification and power to be of similar capacity with the XL 185 and suitable for Nepal’s road condition. I think that’s how the XR190L is a successor to the XL 185. facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE USP OF THE XR 190L? The XR190L is the first motorcycle in this segment with a PGM-FI (Fuel Injection) which makes it a capable all-terrain motorcycle. Whether you are riding here in the city or in an altitude of above 3000 meters, the performance of the bike will not be affected as the fueling is automatically controlled. In other bikes, the performance will drop by a significant 30-40% when you take it to altitudes above 3000 meters which is not a matter of worry in the XR190L. The PGM-FI is a new technology; there won’t be any problem even if you are riding it on an on-off road, high altitude or possibly anywhere. In addition to all that, Honda being an environmentally conscious company, PGM-FI gives you the right amount of fuel at the right time, which means the fuel combustion is on point with the throttle combustion and it’s less polluting as the bike won’t be using more fuel than it requires and will have lesser emissions. So, it is a key factor that separates the bike from others in the segment. Other than that, the XR 190L has a high ground clearance but comes with a low seat height, which makes it suitable for short riders as well. With 12 liters fuel capacity, you won’t have to re-fuel every now and then during long rides. So, all-in-all the XR190L is an all-around motorcycle filling in the void many people have faced in this particular bike segment. AS OF NOW, HONDA HAS TWO LINES OF OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLES, THE CRF AND THE XR, WHAT MAKES THEM UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER? XR 150 is one of the highest selling offroad motorcycles, but it’s for entry-level motorcyclists who are looking to start exploring off-road/adventure riding. Whereas, the XR 190L can be assumed as an upgrade to the XR 150 in terms of power, technology and performance. And of course, if you are a professional rider and want more power, we have
the CRF 250L for you. So they all are from different segment, ranging from the entry level to more advanced and professional level. The CRF 250 can sometimes be a little too extreme for new riders whereas the XR 190L is an on-off road bike which can be easily used on a day to day basis. WHO DO YOU THINK ARE THE MAIN COMPETITORS OF HONDA IN THIS SEGMENT? In this segment, Honda is already the market leader, so we don’t consider anyone as our competitor. We always work on improving our products in terms of technology, quality, durability and reliability. So, now along with launching new products we are also focusing on improving the after-sales service, spare parts and customer satisfaction which falls in our main priority list. WHAT SALES FIGURE ARE YOU HOPING TO REACH THIS YEAR? HOW EQUIPPED ARE HONDA’S AFTER-SALES SERVICE OF THE XR 190L? The initial sales target would be around 600 units annually which we aim to increase year by year. Regarding the after sales service, the product was only introduced after we had full preparation and trainings done for our service staffs and spare parts. So, the spare parts will be easily available and service staffs are well trained to service the XR190L. We will also be opening a few new service centers of big bikes exclusively. All the Honda Service Centers are fully capable to provide the after sales service to its customers.
“In this segment, Honda is already the market leader, so we don’t consider anyone as our competitor” AUTOLIFE FEB/MARCH 2018 33

A
After an agonizing long wait Pioneer MotoCorp has finally launched the Nissan Terrano in Nepal. The Terrano has been in India since 2013 and it has taken quite a long time for it to enter the Nepali market. Since that time the Compact SUV segment has seen tremendous growth here in Nepal and to capitalize on this growth every company has introduced a vehicle that fits this segment. Nissan is pretty late to the game with the launch of the Terrano and has quite an uphill battle if it wants to conquer the new Nepali terrain both figuratively and literally. Thankfully Nissan has something going for them i.e. their brand and pedigree when it comes to rugged vehicles. People have been eagerly waiting and longing for the Terrano from the moment they had seen the SUV launch in India. So now will the Terrano overthrow the established players or is it too little too late for them. That is something only time will tell but in this review we will tell you more about the all new Nissan Terrano.
“
LOOKING AT THE NISSAN HEAD ON THE TERRANO’S V-SHAPED BONNET INTEGRATES NICELY WITH THE NEW NISSAN-FAMILY GRILLE. THE GRILLE ITSELF LOOKS TO BE INSPIRED BY ITS OLDER SIBLING THE X-TRAIL
EXTERIOR
To the untrained eye the Nissan Terrano could be mistaken for the Renault Duster as unlike the Terrano that’s sold outside India and Nepal, the one we’re getting is essentially a Duster under the skin. However, visually there are some striking differences. It has more edgy and sharp front features and the side profile has bold angular lines. The diamond cut machine facebook.com/AutolifeNepal

alloy wheels define the Terrano’s look and it appears to be aggressive and commanding setting it apart from most of Nissan’s SUV range models. In fact, apart from the rear fender and the roof, none of Terrano’s body panels are identical to the Duster. What it does get is Nissan’s family look, complete with lots of chrome on the two vertical slats on the grille that house a large chromefinished Nissan badge. There are other notable visual differences like the slightly modified sheet metal on the doors, aluminum brushed door handles, roof rails and the large tail lamp cluster. Looking at the Nissan head on the Terrano’s V-shaped bonnet integrates nicely with the new Nissan-family grille. The grille itself looks to be inspired by its older sibling the X-Trail. The front bumper lights and the detailed styling around the fog lamps gives the Terrano an intimidating look. When viewed from the rear, the Nissan Terrano looks quite stylish in comparison to its Renault sibling. A prominent chrome bar sits on the top of the number-plate housing, above which sits a big Nissan ‘hamburger’ logo. 36

INTERIOR
Get inside the Terrano and you’ll be greeted with a black/chocolate brown interior color scheme which helps hide the dirt better than the usual beige interiors. The space for the front occupants is great with reasonable width on the inside and the driver will not be elbowing the co-passenger much. Talking about space in the back, the front seat is scooped in to free up much more knee room for rear passengers. Where the rear bench scores is in support & sheer width. The seat back is superbly reclined, making the bench a comfortable place to relax on. Also, the center armrest is great to use but unfortunately the Terrano misses out on driver seat height adjustment. The rear seat is positioned noticeably higher than the front; this, combined with the large windows, makes for a bright ambience. It’s not claustrophobic at the back at all. The rear seat is wide enough to easily accommodate facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
3 passengers. The Terrano gets a really big boot at 475 liters; enough to store luggage of all five passengers. If you need more, just fold down the rear seats to increase capacity to a whopping 1,064 liters. The point of focus in the cabin lies in the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display. The unit is relatively simple and easy to use thanks to large icons. It comes with inbuilt navigation, iPod support and Bluetooth. However, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are missing and you do get a high mounted USB port, which does come in handy. The remaining changes in the cabin include a new retractable armrest for the driver, steering-mounted audio controls and the addition of cruise control. The single, centrally mounted rear air-conditioner vent has been replaced for a cup holder, and there’s a new soft-touch insert in the door pad.

ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
The model we tested was the XV premium which is powered by a 1461 cc dCi Pure Drive Diesel engine. While this version comes with a 5-speed manual, you can also opt for a 6-speed automatic gearbox however it is only for the diesel variant. If you want petrol power, Nissan also offers a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a manual transmission. The Terrano we tested had an 83 BHP engine which makes 200 Nm of torque at 1750 rmp, with a fuel efficiency rating of 19.87 km/l. Even at higher rpms, it is noticeably quieter than other diesel vehicles. It is sufficiently smooth and at cruising speeds, people won’t even know there is a diesel engine under the hood of the Terrano. This 1.5L diesel engine feels best between 2,300 - 4,000 rpm, after which there isn’t much progress. 3rd gear was a vital tool on single lane highways, and overtaking other vehicles was effortless due to the punchy mid-range power delivery. In terms of driving quality, to no one’s surprise, the Terrano performs brilliantly. The Terrano continues
to offer a rugged feel than its more road-biased rivals and makes for a fantastic choice if you regularly commute over poor roads. It handles even the biggest of potholes with ease and you don’t have to slow down for rough roads. In fact, the faster you go over rough surfaces, the better the ride. 205mm of ground clearance and a shorter wheelbase ensures that the underbelly doesn’t scrape anywhere. Nissan has hit the sweet spot with the suspension’s ride and handling balance.
VERDICT
Better late than never, the Terrano is a good entry in the hugely popular compact SUV segment in Nepal. Even though it shares a lot of its DNA with the Duster the Terrano is a great SUV in its own right. Overall, Terrano ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to the ideal package however there is still room for improvement. With cut-throat competition in this segment we still think that Terrano can still hold its own and even be the first choice for many who were eagerly waiting for Terrano to launch here.

EVEN THOUGH IT SHARES A LOT OF ITS DNA WITH THE DUSTER THE TERRANO IS A GREAT SUV IN ITS OWN RIGHT

AUTOLIFE WISH LIST

audi Everyone is well aware of the brand with four rings that has furnished the automobile industry with its luxury, power, and dynamics. But little do they know about the entry or the struggle of the company that has been in the market for so long. Today, let’s have a look on how the beautiful Audi vehicles came into existence and has been maintaining the position as one of the top automobile brands in the world.
Audi AG, one of the most renowned car manufacturers in the world today, was launched way back in 1885. It was during this time, the company under the name of Wanderer would be established and ultimately lead to become one of the branches of Audi AG today. The company was established in the Ehrenfeld district of Cologne, where August Horch made his first car. The company moved to Reichenbach in 1902 and two years later, he established a joint stock company in Zwickau called the ‘August Horch & Cie. Motorwagenwerke AG’.
A
In 1910, Horch decided to change the company’s name to Audiwerke GmbH, and during the same year he introduced the Audi Type A, which immediately became popular. Not long after the company started manufacturing their cars, they participated in races and won for three years straight in the International Austrian Alpine Run. The Alpine Challenge Trophy was presented to Audi drivers in 1914. This marked the
40

beginning of their racing history and continued their hunger for success. The manufacturer didn’t halt to improve their machines, following the success provided by the Audi Type A. The company was prompt to introduce numerous other 5720cc, 4680cc, and 3564cc models and became the first car manufacturer to present a production car with left-hand drive. In 1928, after acquiring most of the shares of the Audiwerke AG and Rickenbacker by Jorgen Rasmussen, the eightcylinder engines of the Rickenbacker’s were installed in the Audi Dresden and Audi Zwickau models. And the world renowned four ring logo was created in 1932, after Audi merged with Wanderer, Horch, and DKW to form the Auto Union AG. Audi shifted its attention to manufacturing military vehicles due to the impending war in the 1930s. Auto Union plants, like many German manufacturers, became a target for allied bombing during the Second World War and a great deal of damage was caused to Audi’s plant after the
raid of the US Army, and was removed from the commercial register. But as they say, when life knocks you down you get back up and fight harder, Audi didn’t give up and began assembling pre-war models in 1949. By 1966, Auto Union became a fullyowned subsidiary of Volkswagen (VW). It was shortly after the takeover, the company went through significant changes and redesigned most of their models. By the end of the 70s, Audi 50 and 100 Avant made their debut in the market which was incredibly reliable and wallet-friendly vehicles. They were introduced as an answer to the energy crisis and were launched in the market as VW Polo. By the 80s, Audi became the first brand to introduce a fullygalvanized body and was awarded the Grand Austrian Automobile Prize and Golden Steering Wheel Award. In the 90s, Audi introduced some of the best models ever including the Audi 11, Audi 8, Audi Cabriolet, Audi S4, and Audi 100 Avant. In 2000, Audi became the first manufacturer to feature peripheral white LED’s and introduced the first 12-cylinder engine in Audi Q7 by 2007. facebook.com/AutolifeNepal

OWNER’S REVIEW
I have been associated with Tata for the last six years. It all began when I decided to get the Tata Nano. I didn’t have any problems with customer care or the car and the love for Tata as a brand increased for me. After all these years with Tata I was impressed by their service and their customer care so I didn’t want to go to any other brands for a new car. I purchased the Tata Tiago four months ago. The thing that I love most about the car is the comfort it provides. All the features in Tiago are a good value for money. Talking about the mileage, I would rather find fault in the infrastructures in our country since the roads are in a very bad condition. I always have to drive in the first or the second gear so the full potential of the vehicle cannot be measured. However, I did participate at the mileage camp organized by Tata itself. I took my Tiago to Dhulikhel and yes the mileage increased which indicated that the Tiago has more potential. I love both the interior and the exteriors. It has a comfortable feel inside and looks attractive as well. The main attraction of Tiago is that, it is reliable, comfortable, and as the tagline for Tiago goes its Fantastico. It is indeed fantastic. I haven’t had any servicing problems from my past experience with Tata and I knew they deliver an amazing after sales service. I have recommended Tata Tiago to my friends and family and will continue to do so.

2017 AUDI Q7
Currently, in the market, Audi Q7 is one of the most luxurious SUV. And mind you, Audi has gone an extra mile to put equal emphasis on making the car “the best”, ”luxurious” and an “SUV”. It goes without saying, the car seamlessly binds the cool look on the outside with the smoother than smooth off-roading experience. Similar vehicles like the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Fortuner, and Honda CRV must watch their back if this vehicle decides to enter the Nepalese market, as it is bound to take over the segment after some period of its entry.
AUDI Q3
Ever since it was rolled out, Audi Q3 Quattro has been making waves like no other. And why not! It succeeded in breaking the established norms in design and capabilities when it comes to the automobile landscape. Audi Q3 Quattro, essentially a compact SUV, has a light steering which is an absolute delight to handle. It proved that SUV’s could be less boxy and gracefully appeal without giving away the power and performance. If Audi decides to bring Q3 in the Nepalese market, other cars would have a rough time competing with the performance and features that this car has on offer.
AUDI Q5
Comfortable, quiet, and handsomely styled, the Audi Q5 provides the premium look and feel that crossover buyers crave. With a formidable set of features and all the right things at right places, Audi Q5 is all set to command the buyer’s attention like no other. Some of the eye catching features are the sporty yet sharp exterior and the robustness, which would woo the younger consumers and the ease of handling this giant machine are hard to miss.
AUDI A6
Audi A6 is out with some significant changes and upgrades that are not only cosmetic but also technological. Among the new Audi cars, Audi A6 has managed to uphold the appeal it once commanded. A lot can be attributed to the fact that it is incredibly easy to handle and smooth when driven, which is uncanny for a sedan of its size.
AUDI A3
The bite-sized A3 wraps what we love about Audi in a handsome, tidy package. Audi A3 has been hugely successful even as a new Audi car because it appealed to not only the younger population but also, the older. Behind it’s unassuming or at least, not very formidable appearance, the car packs a powerful punch.

ALMOST EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT THE UPCOMING CARS OR ANY NEW BRANDS ARRIVING IN THE MARKET
HOW MUCH OF AN AUTO ENTHUSIAST ARE YOU? As far as I can remember, I grew up in an environment where conversations revolved around cars. Almost everyone in my family would be talking about the upcoming cars or any new brands arriving in the market. So in a way, I was cultured to have an interest in automobiles from an early age, and ever since then, I have kept myself quite up-todate regarding the automobile industry.
HAVE YOU DRIVEN OR OWNED OTHER CARS IN THE PAST? During my time abroad, I have driven cars from a variety of brands. But in Nepal, I have driven Mercedes E-class, which was a very long time ago. As I was brought up being surrounded by Japanese car brands, I had a chance to get my hands on a Mitsubishi Galant VR automatic fully loaded, which is a family owned car. And before my Mitsubishi, I used to own a Ssangyong Tivoli.
WHAT IS PARKED IN YOUR GARAGE AT THE MOMENT? Looking into my family’s collection, we have a range of vehicles from brands like Mitsubishi, Kia, Hyundai and Mercedes. And personally, I own a Hyundai and a Mitsubishi Outlander at the moment.
DO YOU PREFER TO HAVE SOMEONE DRIVING OR DO YOU DRIVE BY YOURSELF? I prefer to take the driving seat by myself. For me, the adrenaline, feel, and desire of driving my own vehicles yield greater satisfaction than appointing a driver and relaxing at the back.
HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR TWO VEHICLES? I believe both of them are good value for money. The comfort and luxury provided by the Japanese brand, comes at a very reasonable price. And looking at the Nepalese context, Hyundai cars also perform well. The European brands are mostly technically advanced, and the luxury of such cars is comparatively better than the Japanese and Korean manufactured cars. But comparing it to the roads, tarmac and facilities in Nepal, because it has a comparatively low standard, the Japanese and Korean brand cars can be determined as more reliable. The spare parts are easy available as well.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU PUT YOUR VEHICLES IN ROTATION? I like to change my vehicles in a span of around two years. When I do, I go for Japanese names as they’re good at retaining the value, even in the Nepalese market where resale is not that great.
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
TILL NOW, WHICH CARS HAVE OFFERED THE MOST SATISFYING DRIVING EXPERIENCE? Honestly, the Ssangyong Tivoli which I previously owned was a very good car within that given price range. It can be compared to a Hyundai Creta but in my personal point of view, the Tivoli is a better car in terms of the interior as well as the exterior.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM CAR? If I had to choose, my dream car would be from MercedesBenz, Maserati, and Bugatti. HAVE YOU GONE ANYWHERE OUTSIDE THE VALLEY IN YOUR CAR? I have not gone anywhere outside the valley yet, but I do want to take my car out for a long drive someday. I believe that the performance of the vehicle can only be well measured if you go outside the valley, and inside the valley, there are only limited areas where you can examine that performance. I do plan on testing this for myself soon enough. IF YOU WERE GIVEN COMPLETE AUTHORITY TO MAKE CHANGES IN THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY, WHAT CHANGES WOULD YOU MAKE? First off, the price we are paying for the cars here in Nepal is on the higher side of the spectrum compared to the price of the same cars in other countries. The price quoted for them is way higher than the original price. The government has stated a cap on the amount of auto loan; which may be good as the roads are over-crowded nowadays, but the roads are not maintained properly and that’s where the real issue lies. This makes the tax-rate extremely unfair. If we are paying, we should be getting what we were promised. But we’re not getting it and that makes all the luxury and performance we spend on non-existent. Hence, I would definitely do something AUTOLIFE FEB/MARCH 2018 45
AUTOLIFE HISTORY
HUSQVARNA
EVOLUTION OF THE
HUSKIES
H
Husqvarna has a long and varied history both in and out of the motorcycle business. When you think about history of a motorcycle company one doesn’t think about it starting out making rifles and military hardware. Let alone it starting out nearly three hundred years ago. Both of this is true when it comes to Husqvarna. This is the story of a company whose name has now been synonymous with motocross, enduro and supermoto segment. Husqvarna was founded near the town of Huskvarna in Sweden in 1689. The company started out as a maker of muskets, and the Husqvarna logo still depicts a gun sight viewed from the end of the barrel. By the late 1800s, the company’s production roster included, Sewing machines (1872), hunting weapons (1877), wood stoves (1884), mincing machines (1890), the first Swedish typewriter (1895), bicycles (1896), motorcycles (1903) and gas stoves (1912). Like many other motorcycle manufacturers, Husqvarna first produced bicycles, slowly moving on to motorized vehicles. In the first bike they produced the engineers tested several foreign-produced drive trains before choosing a Belgian-made FN (Fabrique Nationale) engine to mount in a homemade bicycle. The 225cc single-cylinder engine produce 1.25 horsepower, which provided a manageable speed of 25-30 mph with belt drive. This first machine was manufactured on a small scale between 1903 and 1906. The initial price tag was set at 700 kronor, or about $150. The manual also stated that the company did not give any warranty on the FN-engine, but instead took full responsibility for the velocipide itself. In the last version, the original power source from the FN was increased to 2.75 horsepower.

The first manufacturing figures known are from 1908, when Husqvarna built and sold 14 motorcycles. The company also initiated an agreement with Motosacoche of Switzerland. The Geneva-based firm owned a factory with 300 employees in Genova, Italy, where both engines and motorcycles were manufactured. The Motosacoche power sources were then sold to more than a dozen different two-wheel producers
machines built entirely in-house. Around that time they secured a contract with the Swedish Army and began entering cross-country and long-distance motorcycle racing events. In 1920, Husqvarna established its own engine factory and the first engine to be designed was a 550 cc four-stroke 50-degree side-valve V-twin engine, similar to those made by companies like Harley-Davidson and Indian. Husqvarna competed in Grand Prix road racing in the 350cc and 500cc classes during the 1930s and was Sweden’s largest motorcycle manufacturer by 1939. All of the racing bikes were based on a 50-degree V-twin prototype built by Folke Mannerstedt in 1931. The company team beat the Norton Works team at the Swedish GP in 1931 with a 1–2 finish by Ragnar Sundqvist and Gunnar Kalen. This and the next year’s success led to a full commitment to
all over Europe. The Swedish collaboration with the Swiss lasted for almost four years. Husqvarna took a giant step towards making a recognizable motorcycle at the end of the century’s first decade. Using the singlecylinder Motosacoche No. 58, the company built a very handsome, no-nonsense machine. All in all, 23 units were sold during 1909. Sales doubled in the coming year when a new collaboration was introduced, this time with another Swiss company by the name of Moto-Rève - the Motorcycle Dream. This new bike, the Model 65, had a 298cc engine that produced a whopping two horsepower. The main feature of the 1910 model wasn’t the power however, it was the fancy new V-twin engine configuration. The first “Husky” motorcycles used imported engines, and it wasn’t until 1918 that Husqvarna began producing

the GP tracks with Stanley Woods and Ernie Nott joining the Husqvarna riding team. That year, Nott finished 3rd in the 350cc Junior TT and Woods ran out of gas 8 miles before the finish of the Senior TT. In 1935 the company withdrew racing support, but new bikes were still produced and raced privately, while the company focused

on producing a new 2-stroke, 2-speed commuter bike. That year, Stanley Woods won the Swedish GP (marking the fourth year in a row that a “Husky” had won) on a 500cc Husqvarna motorcycle that weighed 279 pounds (127 kilograms). In the 1960s, their lightweight, twostroke engine off-road bikes helped make the once dominant British fourstroke motorcycles obsolete. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Husqvarna was a dominant force in the motocross world, winning 14 Motocross world championships in the 125 cc, 250 cc and 500 cc divisions, 24 enduro world championships and 11 Baja 1000 victories. In 1987, the Husqvarna motorcycle division (not the other arms of the brand such as chainsaw production) was sold to Italian motorcycle manufacturer Cagiva and became part of MV Agusta Motor S.p.A. A group of the company’s managers and engineers were not willing to move to Italy and therefore founded Husaberg AB – which was acquired by KTM AG in 1995. Husqvarna motorcycles were then produced in Varese, Italy. In July 2007, Husqvarna motorcycles was purchased by BMW for a reported €93.000.000. BMW Motorrad planned to continue operating Husqvarna Motorcycles as a separate enterprise. All development, sales and production activities, as well as the workforce, remained at the Varese location. BMW intended to position Husqvarna as “the two-wheeled version of what Mini is to the BMW’s car division”. On 31 January 2013 BMW Group announced that Pierer Industrie AG has bought full stake in Husqvarna AG for an undisclosed amount. Pierer Industrie AG CEO Stefan Pierer was also the CEO of Cross Industries AG, then the main shareholder of KTM-Sportmotorcycle AG parent KTM AG, and the CEO of KTM AG. Later in 2013, direct ownership of the Husqvarna Company was transferred and license rights were sold from Pierer Industrie AG to KTM AG, making the newly established Husqvarna Motorcycle GmbH part of the KTM Group. Husqvarna motorcycle production at Mattighofen in Austria started on 7 October 2013. At the same time, Husqvarna-spin-off Husaberg was re-united with Husqvarna, terminating the existence of the Husaberg brand. Currently Husqvarna Motorcycles produces a diverse range of motocross, enduro and supermoto machines using their own two-stroke or four-stroke engines, ranging in capacity from 125 cc to 693 cc. They have also expanded their operations to Nepal with the same group of people who brought Ducati and

CF MOTO 250NK WORDS: ANKIT TULADHAR | PHOTOS: AL TEAM facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
CF Moto is a new brand entering our shores and was rather unknown when they made their first debut at the NADA auto show, but they have managed to make a big bang in the motorcycle culture of Nepal with their lineup of bikes. CF Moto shares its designer (Kiska) with KTM hence the subtle resemblance present in their design language. With the previously introduced models being graciously accepted by the consumers there was a lot of speculation and anticipation from their latest model to soon enter our market, the CF Moto 250 NK. Having a considerable arsenal of bikes in its portfolio in all ranges the 250 NK is the first foray from CF Moto in the quarter liter segment. This move will surely attract new prospective buyers who were apprehensive towards bigger bikes but still want the performance of one. We were given the opportunity to ride the 250 NK and give our opinion on whether it meets the expectations or not.

The 250 NK is just not any ordinary naked street bike, it is an aggressive street fighter and that is very evident in its handling
STYLING:
CF Moto have knocked the ball out of the park on the styling department of the 250 NK. It looks good no matter which angle you look at it from. Starting from the front, the head light of the 250 NK is slightly angled and it looks like it is tilted backwards. The DRL splits the headlight around the middle section separating the High beam and the Low Beam. The extended tank panels give it a sharp look. The blue color on the rims and the trellis frame complement the grey color of the bike. The tail section is the most distinct part of this bike and has aerodynamic cut-outs that lets the air pass right through, this design is only seen on high end bikes such as the Ducati Panigale series, Yamaha R1 and the R6 (R15 V3 will also have similar aerodynamic tail section when it launches.) so it is quite amazing to see it on the 250 NK. To maintain the sleek looking back end CF Moto have mounted the number plate on the rear tire hugger. Only the tail lights and the turn signals are mounted on the tail. Carrying on with the clean look they have opted for an under belly exhaust that cleans up the sides of the bike.
COMFORT & HANDLING:
The 250 NK is just not any ordinary naked street bike, it is an aggressive street fighter and that is very evident in its handling. The suspension is quite firm, both front and back. It gives you
54

added assurance while carving out corners but will be slightly stiff on bumpy roads. The bike turns in quite rapidly and is very agile on its feet. There is plenty of space on the fuel tank for your thighs to grip the bike while leaning over. The tires provide very good grip and hold the tarmac very well. The stiff suspension setup, agile handling and good gripping tires are the key ingredients for fun in this bike. Also the seats are very plush and long rides does not seem to bother the rider much.
The 250 NK is the most feature rich bike currently in the 250cc category. The 250 NK boasts first in segment features such as the hydraulic clutch, TFT Screen display and riding modes. But that’s not all of the features yet, it also packs a dual channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), LED headlights/tail lights, DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), etc. Seeing the hydraulic clutch on a 250cc bike was a surprise because it is usually only seen on very high performance machines. The hydraulic clutch is very soft to use and will be very useful on stop and go traffic as it requires less effort than the conventional clutch wires. The TFT screen was a welcome addition too, it is very good to look at and displays a lot of information. The Screen also has a brightness setting so that you can adjust it just the way you like it. It also has a proximity sensor that changes the color of the display from white in the sun light to black in the dark for better visibility. The mode selector button is located just above facebook.com/AutolifeNepal

the horn which is slightly confusing at first but you will adapt to it soon. The riding mode also has a connection to the TFT display as it changes the display graphics according to the mode that you are in. There are 2 preset modes: rain mode, sport mode. In the rain mode the display is rather simple and has a lot of things displayed on the screen. But when you change it to the sport mode, most of the screen is taken up by the RPM meter and the speed indicator as that’s the thing with the most priority in the sport mode.
PERFORMANCE:
The 250 mill produces 27 BHP @ 9000 RPM and 22 NM of torque @ 7500 RPM. The bike in rain mode feels a little sluggish and slow to move but that the main point of having a rain mode is to make sure that you don’t slip and slide on the wet surface. When the bike is put into sport mode you can clearly feel the difference. The throttle becomes more responsive to your input and feels quite a bit quicker. The power delivery is linear so new riders won’t get intimidated by the bike but the pull gets stronger in the higher rev range. The bike is capable of reaching triple number digits quite easily so to compensate for that it has a very good braking setup. The radially mounted J.Juan brakes do a very decent job in shedding speed and that coupled with ABS means excellent braking performance. But I however felt that it lacked the initial bite, this could be due to the abs coming into work.
THE VERDICT:
If you love carving corners but want the practicality of a naked bike then this bike has to be on your list. Priced at Rs. 4,60,000/- this bike has it all. Good looks, good performance, good list of features makes it an overall great package. This is one of the best bikes in terms of value for money. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of these bikes around the streets after its official launch.

It seemed not so long ago in 2015 with the scarcity of petrol that electric scooters were the future of commuting here in Nepal. One could see the soundless scooters zipping around town when others were stranded in and around several gas stations. It seemed these scooters were here to stay however with petrol back in normal supply people went back to their old ways of using fossil fueled vehicles. However we still have some contenders in this sector and Terra Motors is one of them. They are a company who were primarily focused on electric rickshaws and now Fair Auto Pvt Ltd, the authorized distributor of Terra Motors in Nepal has rolled out the company’s new smart electric scooter — Terra Acuto.
I
STYLING AND FEATURES
The word that can be used to describe the styling of Acuto is cute or “Kawaii” as the Japanese would say. The cute aesthetic of the Acuto surely grabs your attention and has a distinct style different from other conventional scooters. The pentagon shaped headlights with Dual-LED lighting and Robocop’s visor shaped brake lights accentuates the curvaceous shape of the scooter. The Acuto also can be found in many different shades of colors like the baby blue of our review unit to others like a bright yellow, red and other darker shades like grey and black. If the colors are not to your liking then there are additional panels for the front of the scooter. Coming to the dashboard, the scooter gets an all-digital instrumentation panel which displays speed, remaining battery capacity, riding modes and tripmeter. The scooter also has a reverse button which is something that is mostly reserved for four wheelers. Another feature of four wheelers that has been borrowed by the Acuto is the keyless entry. The scooter has a key akin to those of four-wheelers which can be used to start the scooter with a push of a button or open the boot of the scooter. However the boot of the scooter was disappointing as nearly half the space of the boot was occupied by the battery. Don’t expect to stash your backpack in the boot.
PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING
The Terra Acuto is powered by a 3000 Watt Removable Lithium-Ion Battery made by Panasonic and has the capacity of 60V/29Ah. It takes roughly three and a half hours to charge the battery from 0-100% and has the range of seventy kilometers once the battery is full. The scooter also comes with a two year warranty on the battery, controller, motor and the charger. As the scooter is mostly suitable for commutes and not long facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
AUTOLIFE FEB/MARCH 2018 65
rides, the full charge of battery will last you a quite a long time. Also as the battery is removable, if you have a spare one you could actually double your range to 140 kilometers which is more than enough for most people. The lower seat height combined with relatively oversized 12-inch wheels creates a low center of gravity. This eases in steering and driving in tight city streets. Similarly, the wheelbase of 1260mm creates a perfect balance between comfort and maneuverability for both a single and double rider experience. Talking about the suspension setup, it comes with front and rear mono hydraulic shock-absorbers which provides a relative smooth ride. The Acuto has two modes “Smart” and “Sports”. Smart mode is ideal if you’re looking for conserving power and going the distance whereas Sports mode is more performance oriented. Coming from a petrol based scooter to an electric scooter can be shocking for some due to the lack of sound and the power it can provide in the silence. The acceleration and torque of the scooter is instantaneous and one must get used to it while revving. It has a claimed top speed of 70 kmph. The disc brakes on both front and rear also helps the scooter to come to a complete stop and makes your ride safe. Overall don’t fall for the cute look of the scooter as it packs quite a punch.
VERDICT
The Terra Acuto is quite a remarkable scooter that is a looker and also a performer. It is fun to ride and delivers a set of high-tech features rarely seen in conventional scooters. The Acuto has a healthy balance of power and efficiency and is suitable for those who are not quite satisfied with the power provided by other electric competitors. Right now people are hesitant towards jumping on the electric bandwagon. However with a company like Terra which is a renowned Japanese brand doubling their portfolio of consumer oriented electric vehicles in Nepal and a solid performer like Acuto, this might help change the mind of people.

SELF DRIVING CARS EXPLAINED COMPILED BY: ANMOL SHRESTHA
Long thought to be in the realm of sci-fi movies and the distant future it seems selfdriving cars are right around the corner. The dream is for us to plug an address into the navigation system, press “Go,” then sit back and relax for a half hour as your car chauffeurs you to work. However we might still have to wait a couple of years to see that become our reality. To the uninitiated an autonomous car (also known as a driverless car, self-driving car) is a vehicle which is capable of sensing its environment and navigating with little or no human input.
2017 was the year the car industry was buzzing with excitement with interest in autonomous vehicles, this was largely spurred by technology companies like Uber, Google and Tesla. While the phrase “self-driving” gets used when describing cars the truth is not all autonomous cars are equal. The U.S. Department for Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had established the five levels of autonomous driving ranging from zero automation to fully autonomous. Different companies are using different strategies and different technologies when it comes to autonomous driving in their own cars. Tesla has its own proprietary system. It uses eight surround cameras all over the car

to provide 360 degrees of visibility at up to 250 meters of range. Twelve updated ultrasonic sensors complement this vision, allowing for detection of both hard and soft objects at nearly twice the distance of the prior system. A forward-facing radar with enhanced processing provides additional data about the world on a redundant wavelength that is able to see through heavy rain, fog, dust and even the car ahead. For instance, once the adaptive cruise control system’s speed and desired gap apart from the vehicle ahead is set, a quick double pull of the cruise-control stalk engages steering assist. With it, you can just put your hands in your lap and let the car steer for you. Should the many sensors encounter a problem or some other issue arises, the car unmistakably warns you

throttle to get started again) while in some cases automatically steering, as well. That horrible commute in gridlock suddenly isn’t so bad.
Other vehicles that feature both adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping systems possess similar highway autonomy, but not to the same extent as Tesla Autopilot. Take the Distronic Plus system with steering and active lane-keeping assist that’s available on most Mercedes-Benz models. It, too, will maintain your speed and distance from a car ahead of you and does a very good job of steering for you on the highway, even around significant turns. Like Tesla, it also doesn’t ping-pong between lane lines as lesser systems do, and you’re likely to find yourself less tired and more alert after hours spent behind the wheel.
Tech giant Google’s self-driving cars uses LIDAR(light-sensing radar), which is a remote sensing technology that uses lasers to map out the world around it. The light reflected from the laser beaming on objects is measure to determine the distance between the car and its environment. LIDAR is considered by some to be the best technology to use in self-driving cars because it is highly accurate and enables the car to be able to localize its positioning almost perfectly on an existing map. But, LIDAR is not cheap. In fact, it can cost as much as $80,000 for just one advanced sensor. We have yet to see a commercial vehicle from Google so they might just be using this tech to make accurate maps for their Google Maps as these cars are just used right now for mapping streets.
However, Mercedes-Benz requires that you keep a hand on that wheel -- or at least a finger or two. You don’t actually have to steer to any appreciable degree, but keeping pressure on the rim lets it know that you’re OK to take over if something happens that requires brain power to address -- instead of ones and zeros. The system in the 2017 Audi A4 and 2016 BMW 7 Series act in similar ways as Mercedes Distronic. Autopilot, as well as many more other systems, is also able to drive for itself in stop-and-go traffic much in the same way it drives at higher speeds. These systems can come to a stop by themselves and then start back up again (though some require a quick tap of the
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
Overall companies have made tremendous progress when it comes to fulfilling the dream of self-driving cars however there are still some non-technical hurdles that these companies need to overcome. Firstly they must gain the trust of potential customers and make sure that these vehicles are safe to adopt and also convince the lawmakers that this is the future and not to pass any laws that restrict these vehicles.

AUTOLIFE FEB/MARCH 2018
PREVIEW
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
Fans, rejoice! In a few weeks from now, the 2018 Formula 1 season will be underway and yes, there is plenty to look forward to this season. Here is a quick round up of the top things to watch out for when the five lights go out at the Australian Grand Prix on 25th of March. In addition, if you are tuning into the sport after a hiatus, this read should also bring you up to speed with this season, pun unintended. THE VENUES
As usual, the 2018 season will get underway in Australia on 25th March in Melbourne and will end exactly eight months later on 25th November at Yas Marina, home to the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Eleven of the 21 races will take place in Europe, five in Asia, four in the Americas and one in Australia. The need to maintain more or less unchanged the length of the winter and summer breaks means the schedule is more intensive than the current one during the middle part of the season, with five Grands Prix, all of them in Europe, taking place over a six-week period. There are two important new dates, with the return of Formula 1 Grosser Preis von Deutschland and that of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de France, which has been missing from the calendar since 2008. THE CONTENDERS
Mercedes has had everything their own way recently. Four straight Manufacturer and Driver Titles has them the clear team to beat. The question remains can anyone take them down? Ferrari was looking like a contender until everything fell apart for the Italian outfit. Vettel had Hamilton concerned right up to the moment he decided to take himself out in Malaysia. Then Ferrari hit issues and that was all it took for their challenge to derail. Given their performance early in 2017 Ferrari would be the obvious choice to topple Mercedes. Then there is Red Bull, during Ferrari’s struggles Red
facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
Bull surged to take the fight to Mercedes claiming three race wins in the process. Red Bull has another thing going for it as well. Ferrari’s leadership seems to be a disorganized mess at the moment. Red Bull by comparison is a well-oiled machine. Ferrari may have the horsepower advantage (for now) but Red Bull clearly has the organizational advantage. THE HALO
We have all known the most dramatic aesthetic change to F1 machinery in a long time and has been coming for a while, but expect a social media tsunami when the new-for-2018 cars break cover for pre-season testing in Barcelona on February 26. The device, formed by a titanium structure wrapped in carbon fiber above the driver’s head, has been made mandatory after eight years of painstaking research into cockpit protection but continues to divide opinion. The fans will find it harder to spot their favorite driver by their signature helmet design. Another issue Halo has raised relates to broadcasting of races themselves. The Halo now blocks much of the traditional over-the-top cockpit camera, which has forced F1 management to consider different ways to broadcast in-car footage for the new season. With F1 already struggling to convey the sheer speeds of cars on TV, the Halo adds another element for F1’s producers to consider.
