EDITORIAL SPEED RACERS
T
The advent of vehicle technology, advanced manufacturing process and improvement in electronic systems has led automobiles to become faster, yet safer. High-end production vehicles are now capable of speeds greater than even the most technologically advanced race cars. A ride on these crazy automobiles is guaranteed to provide an out-of-the-world adrenaline experience with an unparalleled charm of its own. Nothing in the world comes close to delivering an immense feel of adrenaline rush like the thrill of speed in superfast vehicles as onlookers try to catch a quick glance in admiration and excitement at the sight of these speed monsters howling past like a flash of lightning. This issue is thus our fine tribute to some of the fastest things from the world of motoring. Starting with the cover story, we went against all odds and made sure we got to lay our hands on the exotic MV Agusta F3 675 and an alluringly customized 2010 Honda CBR600RR. While the MV Agusta F3 675 is an adrenaline-junkie’s machine that’s fun and incredibly rewarding if you can tame it to ride fast, the Honda CBR600RR produces a fine blend of nimbleness with an impeccable power delivery for a combination that is well set to live up to your every expectations. We also test rode the TVS Jupiter, which is one of the most powerful scooters in Nepal and is the latest entrant in the segment aggressively looking forward to come out on top.

AUTOLIFE NEWS: INDIA
HONDA ACTIVA 125 LAUNCHED The Honda Activa is one of the bestselling two wheeler in Honda India’s range. So to make sure that this two wheeler stays around the top of the sales chart, Honda has readied the Activa 125. The Honda Activa 125 boasts a 124.9cc engine, which produces 8.6bhp and 10.12Nm of torque. It gets Honda’s Combined Braking System (CBS) as standard, which balances the engagement of both front and rear brakes. The scooter is offered in Midnight Blue Metallic, Sword Silver Metallic, Black and Pearl Sunbeam White colours. Honda had first showcased the Activa 125 back in February at the Auto Expo. Available in two variants, - Standard and Deluxe (comes with alloy wheels and front disc brake), the Activa 125 has been priced at IRs. 62,276 and IRs. 68,742 (on-road, Mumbai).
TATA REBRANDS THE GRANDE AS THE MOVUS It’s official. The Tata Sumo Grande is no more. Its replacement is here, named the ‘Movus’. And what it is, is a Sumo Grande with a new name. In terms of looks, the Movus is quite identical to the outgoing Grande MkII. Tata hasn’t fiddled with the mechanicals, so the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 118bhp and 250Nm of torque soldiers on in partnership with a five-speed manual gearbox. To knock a substantial amount off the Movus’ price tag, Tata though had to resort to some hardcore cost-cutting. So, out go most of the creature comforts, and all it’ll pamper you with is airconditioning (that too on the top-end LX variant only) and power steering. The Movus can be had with seven, eight or nine seats, and in a grand total of two paint shades - White and Silver. The range now starts at IRs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is about a lakh less than the now-dead Grande.
TOYOTA ETIOS CROSS NOW ON SALE Toyota has put the very outdoorsy-looking Etios Cross on sale in India. As is apparent, it is a Liva that’s put on a generous amount of plastic cladding in a bid to pass off as an SUV. In addition to all that plastic ensconcing the Cross, there’s a new grille, roof rails, diamond-cut alloys, fog lamps and ORVM-integrated turn indicators, and a roof spoiler. Inside, there’s piano-black trim, new fabric upholstery, a double-DIN audio system with Bluetooth, USB, Aux-in and remote control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, which also houses the audio controls. Toyota is offering it with all three engines available on the Liva/Etios cousins, in a total of four trim levels. The G gets the 1.2-litre, 79bhp petrol motor, whereas the top-end V is powered by the 1.5-litre, 89bhp mill. The two diesel variants share the same engine – the 1.4-litre D4-D making 67bhp and 170Nm of torque. A five-speed manual box is standard across the range. The Etios Cross G has been priced at IRs. 5.76 lakh, the V at IRs. 7.35 lakh, the GD at IRs. 6.90 lakh and the VD at IRs. 7.40 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
UPDATED TVS WEGO LAUNCHED TVS Motor Company has launched a refreshed version of the Wego, which has also received the prestigious India Design Mark (I Mark) award from the India Design Council. This new model features a digital console with econometer, tubeless tyres, parking brakes and a new exhaust canister. Apart from this, the refreshed Wego gets a new set of graphics along with single and dual-tone colour options to choose from. TVS has equipped the Wego with a re-engineered 110cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder and air-cooled engine, delivering peak power output of 8bhp at 7500rpm. It is the same engine that powers the Jupiter as well. The 2014 TVS Wego has price tag of IRs. 46410 (ex-showroom, Delhi). 16

AUTOLIFE NEWS: INTERNATIONAL
THE APRILIA SCARABEO IS BACK The Scarabeo, one of Aprilia founder and owner Ivano Beggio’s great ideas, was a retrolooking 50cc and 100cc machine that caused a lot of excitement when it appeared in 1993. More than 750000 were built in 20 years. In fact, the Scarabeo was so successful that it forced Piaggio to give new life to many models. Now, Piaggio has re-set the clock back to 1993 and created a retro-looking new Scarabeo, a light and user-friendly machine in 50cc and 100cc displacements. It’s a very elegant re-definition that satisfies the same segment of the buying public. The new Scarabeo comes in three versions: 50cc two-stroke, 50cc four-stroke, 100cc four-stroke. All engines are fed by carburetors, not fuel injection, and cooled by forced ventilation. All models also come equipped with an electric starter, a continuously variable transmission, and brakes that feature a front disc and a rear drum. Completing the retro package are appropriate graphics and a range of fashionable colors. In Italy, the Scarabeo 100 is priced at $3,629.
NEW MONSTER IN THE RANGE A new water-cooled Monster 821 has joined the range below the recently launched 1200 version to replace the outgoing Monster 796. The bike is powered by the 821cc Testastretta 11 V-twin engine first seen in the Hypermotard which has 112bhp along with the completely overhauled styling, chassis and running gear first seen with the bigger 1200cc model. Differences between the 1200 and 821 cc models can be seen in the double-sided swingarm, lower specification Brembo brakes and differently-styled exhaust silencers. This stylish mix of minimalism and performance paves the way back to the original essence of the Monster concept, where less-is-more and made-in-Italy combine to create a motorcycle lifestyle. High-spec brakes, excellent suspension and stylish componentry merge with Ducati’s best-yet ergonomics to offer the Italian manufacturer’s most attractive mid-range Monster ever. Super comfortable and with an innovative adjustable seat height, the model also combines eight-level traction control, three-level ABS and three-level Ride-by-Wire into Ducati’s user-friendly, press-button Riding Modes.
YAMAHA YZF-R25 LAUNCHED Finally, the Yamaha YZF-R25 has been launched. This latest member of the YZF-R family as a concept was more like the R25 reimagined as a MotoGP entrant, but as you can see, the production version takes off in the vein of the R1. It’s an arrowy, edgy design, with dual ‘Predator’ headlights up front, and a full fairing that hides the new motor. It’s a liquidcooled, 249cc inline twin that belts out 35.5 bhp at a rather shouty 12000 rpm, and 22.6 nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, as are disc brakes front and back. Sizewise, the R25 is actually a shade larger than its rival-in-chief, the Kawasaki Ninja 300. Its frame is made using steel, so it only weighs 166kg. Only three paint options – red, black and blue – have been made available in Indonesia where the bike has been launched. No official word is out yet though on its launch in India and Nepal. 18

KAWASAKI UNLEASHES THE Z250 SL Kawasaki has been selling the Ninja 300 for some time now, but hasn’t enjoyed the kind of numbers that the Honda CBR 250R or KTM 200 Duke have. The reason? Though the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is one of the best performers in its segment, the twin-cylinder motor is expensive to make and costs more. So now, Kawasaki has presented a solution in the form of the Kawasaki Z250 SL (Super Lightweight). What makes this bike a lot more affordable than its 300cc cousin is the single cylinder 250cc motor, which is cheaper to make and cheaper to sell. Though costs are in check don’t take this single cylinder motor to be a slouch. The 250cc liquid cooled engine makes 28bhp and weighs in at 148kg with fuel added. The new Kawasaki Z250 SL is built on a similar steel trellis frame that Kawasaki claims offers slim nimbleness similar to the 150cc two-stroke Ninja RR motorcycle. This should translate to some impressive power to weight ratio. The Z250 SL has currently been launched in Indonesia. facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
Owner’s Review I decided to buy the Skoda Rapid after I heard a lot of good reviews about it from my friends and colleagues. After having used it personally, I have to admit that it is more than I had expected. From its stylish design to its vibrant red colour, I love everything about the way this vehicle looks. The exterior looks just fantastic. The design and the colour gives this car a sporty look. Likewise, the interior is designed in a way that makes the car really spacious and the seats are really comfortable. All in all, the interior looks and feels great too.
RAJENDRA BAHADUR REGMI MANAGING DIRECTOR CHOICE NEPAL TRAVEL AND TOURS
I have taken this car on a few family road trips, and in my experience, the car is very fuel efficient as well as comfortable to drive on for hours on long drives. The engine is also quite powerful, and till date I haven’t faced any severe problems with it. The Rapid’s handling, performance and power is just spectacular making it a good value for money. Though the car is initially quite expensive, its costs in the long run is quite low in comparison to other branded cars of the same range. Customer service is another aspect that makes Skoda cars worth purchasing. So far, I am very satisfied with this vehicle, and if I ever need to buy another car for my company in the near future, I would definitely purchase a Skoda.

BMW MOTORRAD SHOWCASES CONCEPT ROADSTER
LAMBORGHINI 5-95 ZAGATO ONE-OFF DEBUTS
BMW showcased a boxer-powered Concept Roadster at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2014, to give the world a sneak peek into the future of BMW Motorrad design. The Roadster displays a minimalistic design approach with body panels kept to a bare minimum. The BMW Concept Roadster is powered by a four-stroke, twin-cylinder, 1170cc engine that generates 125 bhp at 7750rpm, with a maximum torque of 125 nm at 6500rpm, which is transmitted to the rear wheel via a driveshaft. The engine spoiler on the BMW Concept Roadster, is designed to not only provide aerodynamic capabilities but also incorporates the entire front exhaust system in order to meet future noise prevention requirements. The concept is built around a tubular space frame, while a single-sided swingarm makes way to the rear. The concept is also equipped with upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear.
This is a one-off Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 rebodied by Italian coachbuilder Zagato, and unveiled at the recent Villa d’Este event. It’s called the Lamborghini 5-95, and the ‘why’ is easy: Zagato celebrates its 95th anniversary this year, and wanted to hook up with Lamborghini and turn Sant’Agata’s best-selling model in history - that’s the Gallardo - into a true collectors car. However, the car has already been purchased by popular collector Mr. Albert Spiess. He wanted a new thing to add to his toybox, and what better than a one-off, Zag-bodied Gallardo? Mechanically the 5-95 is pure LP570-4, which means a 5.2-litre V10 producing 570 bhp, 538 nm of torque, permanent four-wheel-drive, a 0-100 kmph time of 3.4 seconds and maximum top speed of 325 kmph. The body, meanwhile, is said to express Zagato’s philosophy of ‘functionalism and rationalism’, and gives it typical values of an instant classic. It’s certainly a striking bit of design.
MINI SUPERLEGGERA CONCEPT Milan-based coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring has teamed up with Mini’s design team to build a truly spectacular one-off, electric-powered concept roadster that somehow manages to meld the classic British design with sleek Italian looks. The Vision’s been put together like a proper superleggera. That means that there’s an alloy spaceframe chassis, which is covered in large hand-beaten alloy sheets - that explains why there aren’t any panels gaps. In this car all unnecessary equipment or decoration is sacrificed, as performance is gained through lightness and efficiency of the bodywork and interior. While Mini hasn’t told what it’s packing under that long bonnet, it’s expected to be spun off the Mini E setup. That means 0-100 kmph acceleration of eight seconds, top speed of 153 kmph, and 200-kilometre range on each charge. Inside in the middle of the vast, naked aluminum dashboard - which is made out of a single sheet of metal - there’s the new car’s centre console. While a handmade beauty like this will never see production, we hope Mini will come up with at least something close in the future.
YAMAHA RELEASES THE MT-125 After the success of the recently launched MT-09 and MT-07, Yamaha has unveiled yet another new MT into the market. The new MT-125 aims to open the MT World to younger riders with its charismatic appearance and a commanding street presence that is reinforced by its genuine big bike looks and advanced technology. The new MT-125 is heavily based around the engine and running gear of the YZF-R125 and features a naked chassis that emphasizes its physical presence. Every detail on this new streetfighter - from the angular headlight through to the upswept tail - has been shaped by its MT DNA. The radical new MT is ideally suited to everyday fun in the city and on the open road. The engine powering the MT-125 is a single cylinder, four stroke, liquid cooled 124.7cc engine capable of 15 bhp max power and a torque figure of 12.4Nm. The MT-125 will come in three colours: Matt Grey, Matt Red and Race Blue. No information has been released though on its possible launch India or Nepal. 20

BMW REVEALS LIMITED RUN 30 JAHRE M5 BMW has revealed the limited-run ‘30 Jahre M5’, which is the Bavarian brands way of celebrating the 30th birthday of its madcap super-saloon. Naturally, it has more power. BMW’s managed to coax a few more horsepowers from that 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. That’s around 600 bhp and torque is up to 700 nm. Put it all together, and you realise that this is now the most powerful road-going car BMW has ever made. The 30 Jahre, equipped with the Competition Package as standard, makes all other versions look slow, running away to 100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds, and topping out at 305 kmph. The paint scheme’s been thought up by BMW Individual, so this one’s dipped in special Frozen Dark Silver metallic paint. There are a handful of special-edition badges strewn on the outside, and the leather-and-alcantara-covered interior is full of them too. Moreover, you can choose to listen to some bangin’ tunes from an 800W Harman Kardon unit, or a 1200W Bang & Olufsen stereo while you blast across the highway in the mightiest M of them all. Only 300 units of the 30 Jahre will be made.
ITALIAN POLICE GETS THE HURACAN POLIZIA Lamborghini has built a Huracan Polizia to give Italian police an edge in the fight against high-speed crime. Lamborghini donated the police-spec version of the new Huracan to the country’s State Police at a ceremony in Rome. It replaces the Gallardo’s used by the Italian fuzz since 2004, taking over the task of accident and crime prevention on the nation’s roads. Officially dubbed the Huracan LP 610-4 Polizia, it features the standard car’s 601 bhp 5.2-litre V10 engine, which gets its power down via all-wheel drive to see off 0-100 kmph in 3.2 seconds before maxing out at over 325 kmph. If this and the ‘Blu Polizia’ colour scheme fail to deter criminals, the Lamborghini has also been fitted with automatic number plate recognition and tracking, complete with real time image transmission to local control rooms for stolen vehicle checks. As part of this ‘Proof Video Data System’, GPS data is used to calculate the Huracan Polizia’s precise location, enabling police to determine the speed of any suspicious vehicle. An added benefit this special Lamborghini brings to the police fleet is its potential as an urgent medical transportation vehicle – the front luggage compartment features a special refrigeration system for donor organs. On top of this, there’s also a life-saving defibrillator. It’s not all about the high tech kit though, and the Sant’Agata brand has fitted the police edition Huracan with a range of standard law enforcement equipment.
THE MANSORY G63 6X6 UNLEASHED Thought the Brabus’s 6x6 was scary? Then what about this one from Mansory? The German power-merchant has unleashed its own take on the G63 6x6, and it makes Brabus’s effort look like a pussycat. For where the Brabus 6x6 makes a piffling 690bhp from its 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, Mansory has managed to bump the same engine up to a far healthier 829 bhp along with 1000 nm of torque. All this with ‘genuine race components’ including fresh pistons, conrods, a crankshaft, cylinder head and more. Mansory hasn’t revealed performance figures, but it’s assumed to crack the 0-100kph run even quicker than the Brabus’s 4.4 seconds effort. In something weighing close to four tonnes, that’s a trifle concerning. Mansory has gifted the big brute new headlights along with a fresh grille and bonnet rendered in only the finest visible carbon. You also get new mirror housings and a Mansory bodykit.
MCLAREN SHOWS OFF 650S CONCEPT McLaren has built a one-off 650S Coupe that has been privy to a few upgrades from their ‘Special Operations’ division. This McLaren special ops section is a team of 50 engineers whose sole purpose in life is to build unique one-offs. This 650S Coupe is their latest. Not the most revolutionary of concepts, it nevertheless shows off some subtle upgrades including a carbon fibre rear diffuser and MSO-branded CF side blades, a GT3-inspured rear bumper, a carbon fibre airbrake and satin back engine covers. All very Dark Knight. In fact, the whole car is finished in a special ‘Agrigan Black’ paint - itself fused with ruby red metallic flake - while capping everything off is a set of lightweight 650S alloy wheels. Inside, you get fixed-back carbon fibre racing seats - based on those found in the McLaren P1 - some 15kg lighter than standard, as well as satin carbon fibre flourishes around the cabin. facebook.com/AutolifeNepal

AUTOLIFE PRODUCT FEATURE
BG MOA: AVOIDING SLUDGE PROBLEMS Perhaps one of the most damaging problems a vehicle's engine can encounter is engine sludge. Engine oil sludge or black sludge is a solid or gel in motor oil caused by the oil gelling or solidifying. Oil sludge can be a major contributor to internal combustion engine problems, and can require the engine to be replaced, if the damage is severe. Ways to minimize sludge production and accumulation includes performing frequent oil changes, performing mechanized engine flushing or de-sludging, using synthetic oil and following the manufacturer's engine maintenance routine. As complex as the issue of sludge formation is, the most common cause of the sludge problem in vehicle is the oil itself. More exactly it is the use of either substandard oil or just using even the top quality oil for just too long. The second most common reason is just running
way too long on the motor oil for the given type of service or overheating it. As obvious as this may be, it is not surprising that the general motoring public is not aware of either of these problems. Another not too often disclosed fact is that during the engine tests on motor oils, the oil life is measured in hours. Though the normal motor oil recommended service frequency is specified in kilometers, the motor oil life is in hours of service. Sure you can approximate how many miles you drive on average in a given number of hours, but if in your particular car you are stuck daily in stop and go traffic, you can easily average twice or even three times more hours of engine run time for the same distance traveled! The simplest and most cost effective maintenance is to use the top API graded quality motor oil and change it often at least every 200 hours. Just only one fill with poor quality oil not just can, but will ruin your engine.
And better, use a top rated oil additive, such as BG MOA. BG MOA is one of the best engine oil supplement available in the market. BG MOA fortifies all qualities of engine oil, providing superior, longlasting engine protection and maintain peak engine performance. It prevents engine oil oxidation and thickening under even the most intense driving conditions. When installed by a professional, it keeps engine components clean to help extend engine life and reduce cost of operation. BG knows it can’t control the quality of every motor oil in the market. But it can help them do better. BG MOA adds higher levels of anti-oxidants‚ detergents, and anti-corrosion agents to prevent engine oil breakdown. Without these protective additives, severe engine oil oxidation occurs. Oxidation reduces oil to heavy, black sludge in the crankcase, oil screens, oil passages, rocker arms and other critical areas of the engine. An example of an Engine Oil Sludge

The introduction of the highlyanticipated Ducati 899 Panigale provides a new way to access the exclusive world of Ducati Superbikes and experience the thrill of the new generation flagship model with the refined character of an everyday streetbike. Every detail of the Panigale pays tribute to the rich heritage of racing on which Ducati is built. The 899 Panigale has been ergonomically designed for a perfect integration between rider and motorcycle. The twin headlamps, with LED

positioning lights, are integrated with the frontal intake ducts, while the twin rear lights are moulded perfectly around the recessed seat air ducts and illuminate with an attractive lightguide surround effect, enhanced with LED brake lights. Clear lenses styled LED indicators are integrated into the mirror bodies and rear indicators as well. The sleek shape of the seat and tail-piece is accentuated by the underengine location of the exhaust system, further enhancing the aggressive stance of a true Ducati Superbike. The instrument panel on the 899 Panigale is an advanced multifunctional LCD unit, with layout derived from Ducati Corse's experience in World Superbike and MotoGP. Showing a vast array of information in a format highly visible even when tucked behind the windscreen at maximum velocity, the dash also changes its display according to the riding mode selected. Similar in many ways to its 1199 Panigale big brother, the 899 super-
smooth power unit in the little brother is a 90 degree twin that operates as a fully stressed member of the chassis, achieving both an outstanding powerto-weight ratio and ride-enhancing agility with a dry weight of 169kg. The brand new Superquadro engine features a revised bore and stroke for a broad power delivery, producing 148 bhp @ 10750rpm and 99 nm @ 9000rpm. The Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) and the fully integrated Riding Mode technologies of Rideby-Wire, triple stage ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC) continue the benchmark ingenuity introduced with the award-winning Panigale. With the click of a button, Ducati’s Riding Mode concept delivers performance with enhanced rider confidence by combining the number of class-leading technologies. The 899 Panigale is equipped with 43mm Showa BPF USD forks, fully adjustable in spring

pre-load and compression and rebound damping. A steering damper completes the overall specification. A fully adjustable Sachs rear suspension unit features a stylish and practical side-mounting, enabling increased space for the rear cylinder head and is designed with a progressive linkage operating through a double-sided swingarm. The front brakes use twin radially-mounted Brembo, four piston, Monobloc M4-32 callipers actuated by a high performance radial master cylinder. The fronts grip 320mm discs, while a single 245mm disc on the rear is gripped by a single Brembo calliper. The 899 Panigale rolls on lightweight 10-spoke wheels, enabling a fast change of direction and enhanced
acceleration and braking performances. They are fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres with a 120/70 ZR17 on the front and an agility-enhancing 180/60 ZR17 on the rear. This all ensures that the 899 Panigale is just the bike to give a Ducati Superbike adrenalin rush, both on the track and on the road. With carefully designed riderfriendly features for enhanced rideability, the new model achieves a successful mix of authentic Italian performance with everyday usability, offering the very best of both worlds in absolute style. The 899 Panigale is available in traditional Ducati red with black wheels or a stunning arctic white with red wheels.

HONDA SCOOTER DIVA CUP 2014 Info and Photos: Honda Nepal
The Honda Scooter Diva Cup 2014 got into gear as 60 aggressive and confident Divas battled for the win at Syakar Safety Riding Center, Gwarko on May 3, 2014 with the final race-taking place a week later. Nawang Moktan was crowned as the winner of the competition and the 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner-Up spot was claimed by Chimmi Sherpa and Barsha Basnet respectively. A day before the Race Day, all the participants of Honda Scooter Diva Cup 2014 were called up at Honda’s Head Office – Jyoti Bhawan, where a Rally was organized with all 60 participants riding their Honda Scooters to different major places of Kathmandu and finally ending up at the race venue. The rally followed Practice Session with Honda Safety Riding Instructors giving away lessons on overtaking, braking, cornering, and speeding. Although the practice session took place much before, the divas set the practice session on fire by making some breath taking cornering, overtaking, hard braking and a few spills. At the end of the day, everyone seemed ready for the main event. The participants comprised of different age groups – college going students to professional ladies to housewives; all of them were ready to race and most importantly they were set to snatch that 1st position in each and every race. This edition of Honda Scooter Diva Cup witnessed a a foreign rider Kylie Alaina 30

Also to add more glamour to the event, 4 celebrities – Subekchya Khadka, Sandhya KC, Nagma Shrestha and Bhintuna Joshi were called up during the race day and a separate race between the celebrities was scheduled between the races before the final race took place; something different from the 1st edition of Honda Scooter Diva Cup. The 60 participants were grouped into 5 different groups with each group consisting of 5 participants. 5 participants competed in a 4 lap race and the top three winners of the group qualified for the next round while the other 2 were eliminated from the race. Finally, with the winners of the next rounds qualifying and losers eliminating, the final

race went down between 5 participants in a 6 Lap race. The Race Day was a perfect Saturday summer morning. The early weather condition was brilliant for the race day and the race got off to a flying start. The riders accelerated to the limit on every lap and every race seemed competitive with exciting overtakes and some accidents. As the race went on, riders encountered light showers that hinder the race for an hour. However, that did not stopped the thrill of the race, as Riderz Unified performed some amazing stunts which kept the crowd and participations buzzed with excitement and anticipation. The race started again with the track slippery and wet. The riders were much more aggressive
than before and few riders ran out of the race as they fell down. Driven with passion, some riders dusted themselves off after a spill, started their engine, and got back to the race. The rain fell down heavily for the second time and the final race had to be post-poned. Monster Bash Event & Entertainment and Honda as the title sponsor had organized Honda Scooter Diva Cup 2014 and it was supported by Castrol, Karbonn and Bwitch. The media partner for the event was The Himalayan Times, Times FM, Nepali TV and Best Buy. The SMS & IT partners were Sparrow SMS and BITS while Village CafĂŠ was the Food Partner during the event.

AUTOLIFE TEST RIDE
THE RACE REPLICA WORDS: AYUSH DHAUBANJAR PHOTOS: AUTOLIFE TEAM First introduced in 2003, the Honda CBR600RR has always been the benchmark for modern middleweights from the day it rolled off the production line. With a perfect record like that, it’s no wonder that the Honda CBR600RR is one of the best-selling 600cc inline fours ever produced. So we ride a customized 2010 model to see for ourselves what all that hullabaloo is all about.

The 2010 Honda CBR600RR is a mad fast motorcycle. It pumps out 118 bhp of power from its mental 600cc fire breathing motor to easily propel this rocket from 0-100 kmph in a tyre shredding 3.2 seconds and achieve a top speed in excess of 250 kmph. This is what it says on paper. But I know more about this because it’s tried to kill me more than once in the past four days I spent with it. Nepal is definitely a scary place to ride a motorcycle like this because road users carelessly confront your path regardless of the massive speeds at which you might be hurtling towards them at. Well, I am just glad that I managed to survive to pen down this amazing experience.
STYLING The CBR600RR has a grown up sophisticated design with a sinister race ready look because the bodywork features an aggressive styling with a very aerodynamic design inspired from the Honda RC211V MotoGP bike. Up front, the Honda CBR600RR has been fully loaded with a two-piece headlamp cluster, functional air vents between the headlights, front turn indicators cleverly integrated in the front fairing that covers the whole cowl area except the engine and a long wind screen that goes back to cover the dashboard of the bike. frame and chassis sliders, high-grade aluminium adjustable rearset footpegs, attractive gold coloured engine casing aluminium bolts, sporty red coloured chain, sleek TOCE performance exhaust and a racy pillion seat cowl. Overall, the bike is sleek, sporty and eye-catching from nose to tail, and has a bigger bike feel even though it’s meant to be a middleweight contender. To be honest, it still looks fresh even though it’s already a four year old model.

dashboard of the machine is a fully digital LCD instrument panel (except the tachometer), which informs the rider about time, engine temperature, fuel level, distance covered, speed etc. The Honda CBR600RR comes with a large fuel tank that can house 18 litres of fuel. Highlighting the chassis is the fine frame made from Honda’s Fine Die-Cast (FDC) technology and the three-spoke alloy wheels give it a massive feel. The rear end of the Honda CBR600RR is also praiseworthy with the razor shaped tail and an under-seat exhaust system. The colour scheme of red and black further accentuates its sporty appeal. A number of customizations were done on the bike we test rode to further enhance its aesthetic appeal like the bar-end mirrors, short levers, 34

This powerhouse of a machine produces a peak power of 118 bhp and delivers a maximum torque of 66 nm with a six-speed gearbox that uses the power cleverly. Puttering along in city traffic in the aggressive riding position, it’s surprising how the CBR600RR behaves obediently and manages to keep the massive power well under control. Of course, the 100°C plus heat emitted from the engine can be a scorcher to bear in slow riding conditions. The gear shifting is smooth and class leading without any hint of jerkiness. Out on the open highway, this Honda is a screamer, making its peak power at higher revs and hitting the redline at 15000 rpm! The 599cc motor is a gem, with a decent low and mid-range performance and a mighty powerful screaming top-end. The tweaks to the exhaust have made it even nicer to live with as scream it does, howling like a wild banshee from the aftermarket TOCE performance exhaust system. The way this bike screams aloud after the 7000 rpm mark is something that well qualifies as a fine sound porn for any enthusiast and makes it impossible for passers-by to not turn heads. The howl is so addictive that you just don’t want to

drop the tachometer below that mark. The power delivery is very linear, smooth and responsive all the way through the power curve. Not only is its stability in a straight line absolute, it feels very responsive and well planted when pushed hard through the corners as well. The highly advanced fully-adjustable suspension system and steering dampers ensure rigidity of chassis and makes your ride smooth even on bad roads. Braking is another area where the Honda excels, with the CombinedABS system doing most of the work of shaving off high speeds be it in wet conditions, slippery surfaces or panic braking situations. The C-ABS system electronically distributes the braking between front and rear callipers to give maximum stability in all conditions. The 2010 CBR600RR thus handles solidly as a sport machine and feels well set-up and easy to ride even for those daily blast to work.

VERDICT
With more than half a century’s experience of race-bred engineering, the 2010 Honda CBR600RR is a perfect example of typical Honda industry-leading innovation that well combines the balance between performance, handling and styling. It provides the ultimate sportbike experience in the middleweight category, especially considering the ease at which any skill level rider can hop on to this bike and instantly go fast on our kind of roads. The CBR600RR produces a fine blend of nimbleness with an impeccable power delivery for a combination that is well set to live up to your every expectations. It never fails to keep you entertained, especially considering how the mind-blowing scream from the aftermarket TOCE exhaust system still keeps reverberating in your ears even after you have gotten off from the saddle.

Owning just one Ducati motorcycle is quite an achievement that easily puts you amongst the elites in a pack of enthusiastic motorcyclists. But what do you do when you meet someone who owns not just one, but two, and that too the most premium range toppers in Ducati’s line-up? And all this in a place like Nepal where you end up paying nearly the double of any motorcycle available abroad! Though some of us might not be able to immediately identify him, most of us can instantly associate with him once you try to recall those weekend hangovers you had to nurse through after having gulped down more than the regular dose of the highly popular McDowell Whisky, Antiquity Whisky, Signature Whisky, Blue Riband Gin or White Mischief Vodka, which are all sold in Nepal by United Spirits Nepal Pvt. Ltd. United Spirits Nepal is a leading spirits blender, bottler and distributor of Nepal and spearheading this fast growing company as the Director is Rajesh Bir Singh Tuladhar, our country's version of a liquid baron who apparently seems to have a fine taste for the other good things in life as well. He is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Avanish Group, which has three other companies under its wing - Avanish Tradelink Pvt. Ltd, Avanish Distillery Pvt. Ltd and Avanish International Pvt. Ltd. So we sit down for a chat with the man, probably the most obsessed Ducatisti in the country, in his personal garage which could easily give a Ducati showroom an inferiority complex.

RT: The Volkswagen Touareg and Ducati Diavel is the best of all. I have had good experiences in Mazda 6, Toyota Corolla and Land Rovers too. AL: Personally, what have been the pros and cons of owning some exotic set of wheels in Nepal? RT: Exotic set of wheels are mainly bought

So I wouldn’t really evaluate the pros/cons of owning high end vehicles in Nepal when it has been acquired for one’s peace of mind. Exotic wheels should have equally exotic minds to rule.

SCOOTING TO THE TOP WORDS: ANKIT SHAKYA PHOTOS: BIBHAS MAHARJAN SUWAL

AUTOLIFE June 2014

Over the last few years, the number of scooters on our roads have considerably gone up and it has proved to be a major segment for dealers in the two-wheeler industry. Much of this has to do with the utility and ease of function the scooter demonstrates inside the city. Also the fact that it has now escaped its perception as a female only mode of transport is a contributing factor too. A segment that once took up only 5% of the market share of two-wheelers has now grown to command about 30% of the market. Although the Honda and Hero Honda moniker have long reigned supreme in the segment, there are other companies that are looking to dethrone them left and right. With new models and brands entering the competition at a brisk pace, the scooter segment is where the action is at the moment. The newest entrant to the battle is the TVS Jupiter. Named after the largest planet in the solar system, TVS seem to have their sights set on hitting it big with the Jupiter. So we got our hands on two of these scooters and sought out to see how well it would perform. facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
AUTOLIFE June 2014 47
STYLING
The TVS Jupiter is a good looking bike with a design dominated by clean lines, but not really the type that stands out. This is not entirely a bad thing. The front end features headlights that are placed on the handlebar while the indicators sit on either side of the apron. On the rear end of things, the Jupiter has 12-inch tyres with blacked out alloys and LED tail lamps. An external fuel cap in the tail negates the tedious task of lifting up the seat to fill up the tank while the rest of the queue at the petrol pump throw hastening looks at you. The Jupiter falls on the bulkier side of the size scale which further emphasizes its unisex appeal. The front storage compartment seen on most scooters has been removed which allows for a much roomier seating position even for taller riders. They do, however, have two rectangle bag hooks, that can be folded away when not in use, one located under the pivot point of the seat and one under the head unit. If you are still short on space for the groceries you just bought, the Jupiter also has a 17 litre under seat storage. The instrumentation cluster features a generic large round speedometer on top of which are a set of four tell-tale lights (for indicators, fuel and high beam). There is also a pass-by switch intelligently integrated with the high-low beam, which is a first amongst Indian scooters.
PERFORMANCE
TVS has equipped the Jupiter with a single-cylinder 110cc engine that makes a maximum power of 7.9 bhp @ 7500rpm and 8 nm @ 5500rpm, which propels the scooter with zest through traffic. TVS

facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
has claimed that the Jupiter can go from 0-60kmph in 7.2 seconds, which going by its performance at traffic stops, is a believable claim. With the combination of the peppy engine, gripping tyres and front telescopic suspension, it is nimble and easy to manoeuvre through traffic. It proved to be smooth in operation within the city. Give it some space and it fares well there too. When presented with open tarmac you learn to ignore the light on the instrument cluster which switches to power from economy every time you aggressively twist the throttle. TVS calls it the Econometer. This is basically a throttle position based indicator showing when you are consuming more fuel by wringing the throttle open too quickly. It was good to see it reach the 80-85kmph mark fairly easily. However, pushing it further showed signs of discomfort. Front and rear drum brakes perform to satisfaction. Regarding the seating ergonomics, TVS has done a good job. The handlebar-seat distance and height is relaxed, and the seat-floorboard height is comfort oriented. Long rides might not be an issue as the seats are very cushy as well.
AUTOLIFE June 2014 49
VERDICT TVS has delivered a really good scooter with the Jupiter. Although it is not too fancy in terms of looks, it does not look bad from any angle. Whatever it may lack in terms of aesthetic appeal, it makes up for with utility and performance. Roomier than most scooters in the market, this scooter is apt for people of different shapes and sizes. TVS claims that the Jupiter will give a mileage of 62 kmpl and if that is to be believed, this falls amongst some of the most powerful and better scooters available in the market. With a host of extra features like external fuel cap and mobile charging ports, the TVS Jupiter integrates fuel-economy, utility and good performance into a single promising bundle.

AUTOLIFE TEST RIDE
ICONIC BEAUTY
An iconic image always stays forever. I still vividly remember drooling hopelessly at the unique horizontally laid out fourbarrel underseat exhaust of the amazingly sexy MV Agusta F4 series from the exotic Italian motorcycle brand. And I can bet that I have never been alone on this one! The F4 series in particular have always been the ultimate poster bikes for many an enthusiast. Similarly, the latest entry level sibling of the majestic F4 range, the F3 675 is no less a contender as it easily tugs at any rider’s heart with its immaculately beautiful styling. So we raced the MV Agusta F3 675 across our streets to find out if this one is really a beauty with great purpose as well. 54

STYLING
There is good reason why the MV Agusta F3 675 was easily voted as the ‘Most Beautiful 600 in the World’ on its launch. The styling is pure MV Agusta with crazy attention to detail. The diamond shaped headlight at the front gives it a unique identity and the design of its front fairing and V-shaped visor looks aerodynamic. The short front fender sits just below the headlight and gels well with the fully adjustable Marzocchi forks at the front. The instrument console that is neatly tucked behind the visor is well contained in one central pod and it has indicators for Clock, Lap Timer, Riding Modes, Traction Control, Gear Position, Speedometer, Tachometer and Tripmeter. Its sporty side fairing with the integrated engine cowl gives the visual bulk to this bike and complements the magnificently sculpted tank of the F3. A steel trellis frame combined to cast aluminium side plates are wrapped around the compact engine. The bike has an up-swept, integrated side and rear cowl which also looks aerodynamic with split seats on it. The rear cowl also houses the stylish LED tail light and side indicators while its wide tyre adds muscularity to this bike. The black colored multi-spoke alloy wheels and single sided swingarm add visual charm to this bike and the exhaust system is finished with a distinctively golden triple pipe side exit on the right side. Visually, the F3 is quite simply a beautiful bike. Carrying over ace designer Massimo Tamburini’s legacy lines from the F4, it instantly holds your attention and forces you to gaze at it. The F3 675 is a work of art that does splendidly to uphold MV Agusta’s heritage of producing beautiful motorcycles.

Seated aggressively astride the F3, the bike is surprisingly comfortable with a low seat height and rearset footrests that are not too high either. The F3 675cc engine produces a maximum power of 126 bhp and 71 nm of torque and rumbles to life with a unique throaty grumble which I must confess didn’t really impress compared to the sensational in-line four whistle of most Japanese facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
speedsters. This though improves to some extent with increasing throttle play on the open highway. Anyways, this is an acquired taste due to its raw nature. Call it technical glitches or the character of the engine, the F3 675 is extremely difficult to ride in slow moving traffic inside the city. The wet clutch requires extra work when rolling ahead from a full stop and the bike has an uncanny jerky tendency to immediately stall if you don’t keep the revs high. The six-speed transmission gets a bit rough at times and the clutch too slips occasionally for such an exotic motorcycle. But once you get rolling, the F3 manoeuvres nimbly in traffic and behaves well. Pressing the starter button once the engine is running will cycle through the four riding mode maps - Sport, Normal, Rain and Custom. While within each of the first three modes there are predetermined levels of throttle sensitivity, traction control, power output, engine torque, engine braking, engine responsiveness and an facebook.com/AutolifeNepal

rpm limit, the Custom mode lets you dial in these parameters specifically to suit your riding style. This middleweight supersport also has a new dynamic electronic control system Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System (MVICS) - which allows control of the power levels and the traction control in specific situation differently. The F3 hosts a plethora of sophisticated electronic rider aids, from riding modes, to electronic engine braking control, electronic quick shifter, anti-wheelie system, variable power maps and traction control. Once the road clears and as the revs rise, you begin to really enjoy the MV Agusta F3 675. As soon as you get past the mid-range rpm around the 10000 rpm mark, all seems well with the world of the F3 and it suddenly realizes that its hair is on fire. The inconsistent roar from the engine gets more intoxicating and the power delivery becomes linear. Switching to Sports mode further makes things exciting as high speed runs turn out to be a piece of cake for this runner. The electronic quickshifter too makes for smooth upshifts by allowing quick gear changes without using the 58

AS SOON AS YOU GET PAST THE MID-RANGE RPM AROUND THE 10000 RPM MARK, ALL SEEMS WELL WITH THE WORLD OF THE F3 AND IT SUDDENLY REALIZES THAT ITS HAIR IS ON FIRE. clutch. Handling is beautifully agile with a secure feel in corners and it’s an absolute joy to fling through the bends. With a tyre profile developed in World Superbike competition, the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa wheels offer great feedback. The most frightening thing though was rolling off the throttle after a speed run and, the bike continued to accelerate for a moment as if the throttle had not been let go. And this happened more than once! This is either a delay in the ride-by-wire system or the engine braking system cutting in and opening the throttle slightly to prevent rear wheel lock-up situations. But our thrill of the Sports mode was short-lived as the skies opened up and it poured down heavily upon us. Normally, powerful motorcycles are scary to ride in the wet as the excessive power finds it difficult to find a good grip in the slippery tarmac. But on the MV Agusta F3 675, it turned out to be the least of our worries and was a walk in the park once the riding mode was changed to Rain. Coming to a stop from high speeds is utterly easy on this motorcycle, as the Brembo brakes provide ample power with the help of the electronic aids. The suspension is quite firm though for our kind of bumpy roads, but there’s plenty of room available for adjustability.

VERDICT
MV Agusta has produced a class leading super-sport machine far better than most of its rivals. The F3 is definitely the supermodel in the middleweight sportbike segment. But just like most supermodels, though it’s fun to lust after, it’s a bit too demanding for a long-term relationship in our kind of roads. It’s a bit flawed and too raw in nature for slow riding conditions like in Nepal, and calls for a little more refinement. Otherwise, it’s an adrenaline-junkie’s machine that’s fun and incredibly rewarding if you can tame it to ride fast, because that is how it was meant to be ridden. All things said, it is the perfect concoction of beauty, lightweight, power and state-of-the-art electronics. It’s an amazing exotic machine synonymous with excellence, style, and technology. And, you always buy an Italian motorcycle with your heart. AUTOLIFE June 2014 59

AUTOLIFE EVOLUTION
AUTOMOBILI LAMBORGHINI THE RAGING BULL The exotic history of the racy Italian manufacturer that is now unrivalled worldwide as a manufacturer of extreme and uncompromising super sports cars. WORDS: SAURAV NEPAL
Did you know that Lamborghini actually started operations as a factory that assembled tractors from WWII military hardware? Thankfully, the tractor company went on to become one of the largest agricultural equipment manufacturers in Italy and this allowed its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini to further cultivate his extreme interest in cars. But popular legend has it that these are not the only facts that led to the birth of the iconic Lamborghini cars. Ironically, Feruccio was fond of Ferraris, though he considered them too noisy and rough to be proper road cars. Its widely believed that once when the clutch on his Ferrari 250 GT was broken, he discovered that it was the same that he used on his tractors! So when he asked for a better replacement, he was turned down as just a tractor maker and someone who did not know anything about sports cars. Ferrucio then decided to pursue an automobile manufacturing venture with the goal of bringing to life his vision of a perfect grand tourer. What followed next is a story of passion and hard-work of this feisty Italian who established one of the most beloved supercar brands of the world – Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A.
business, he became a prominent figure, garnering the respect and admiration of his colleagues due to his mechanical skills and profitable endeavours. With profits from his business ventures, he officially established Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. in 1963 in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. In the same year of its inception, the Lamborghini ‘350 GTV’ prototype was shown to the public at the Turin Auto Show. The prototype was a two-seater coupe with a V12 engine. It was extremely fast for its time with a top speed of 280 kmph. In 1964, a smaller version of the 350GTV appeared. The smaller version was called 350GT and had a top speed of 240 kmph. The 350 GT was succeeded by the 400 GT and then the 400 GT 2+2. The 350 GT and 400 GT 2+2 did well to establish
a good identity for Lamborghini in the global arena. The next successor in the dynasty was the Miura. Showcased at the 1965 Geneva Motor Show, the Miura had an enormous international impact and took the world by storm. In 1967, Lamborghini showcased the Marzal concept - an exotic four-seater vehicle with sensational gull wing doors which was a first in the automotive world. In 1968, Ferrucio’s enthusiasm led to the birth of Islero GT. The Islero GT was the successor to the 400 GT. The year 1969 was then marked by the temporary stabilisation of the Lamborghini model range. Unfortunately, the sparkling success of the sixties was followed by the crisis of the seventies. The early ‘70s created tremendous stress on the company.
Born in 1916 in Italy, Ferruccio Lamborghini was a connoisseur of everything mechanical from his childhood. Having amassed a fortune from the tractor 68

LAMBORGHINI CARS ARE INCOMPARABLE THROUGH THEIR BLEND OF FASCINATING DESIGN, SUPREME DRIVING DYNAMICS, TECHNOLOGICAL CAPABILITY, SOPHISTICATED WORKMANSHIP AND EXTREMELY HIGH LEVEL OF QUALITY. Problems such as labour unrest in Italy, rising oil prices and worldwide recession hit the company hard. During the same time, Ferruccio sold a majority of the company’s shares and retired. The ‘70s saw the launch of the Urraco, Jarama and the iconic Countach LP400. The Silhouette was also introduced in the same decade. But the company became bankrupt in 1978 and was later liquidated. By 1980, the Countach 400S was the only model produced in Sant'Agata. In 1980, the Bologna Court sold the company to Mimran brothers. The Mimran brothers injected massive investment into the company overhauling a comprehensive restructuring program. In 1982, the Countach LP 500S was introduced along with the Jalpa. This takeover also produced a variety of other models such as the gas-guzzling LM004 and 002 off-roaders. Despite investment from Mimran brothers, the company couldn’t generate much income. In 1987, the Mimran brothers then sold the company to Chrysler Corporation for $33 million. In 1990, the new ownership introduced the Lamborghini Diablo. Unfortunately, another event intervened and further complicated things. Ferruccio Lamborghini, who was awarded the title “Commendatore” and knighted “Cavaliere Del Lavoro”, died of a heart attack on February 1993. The man who established Lamborghini was no more. In 1994, Chrysler sold the company to Indonesian investors. But, this ownership too evaporated. In 1998, Audi stepped in and bought Lamborghini. The initial idea was to ask for Audi’s technical assistance but Audi got so impressed with the facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
company management that they decided to buy it. The German takeover was the beginning of an extensive development process. Audi healed Lamborghini by focusing its resources into the development of newer models; mainly the Murciélago, the car that propelled Lamborghini’s comeback. Models such as the Gallardo and the jet-fighter inspired Reventon followed later. Today, models such as the Aventador and the Huracán along with various special limited editions continue to carry the legacy of Ferruccio Lamborghini forward. Lamborghini also has an in-house motorsports team called as Lamborghini Squadra Corse which is dedicated to GT3 racing, the Super Trofeo series, and a customer driving program. Just last year, the brand celebrated 50 years since Ferruccio Lamborghini made those steps into this supercar family. Automobili Lamborghini is currently owned by the Volkswagen Group through its subsidiary brand division Audi. Massively popular globally, Lamborghini’s wedge-like outlandish images are now well implanted in the subconscious of car enthusiasts around the world. Lamborghinis’ cars are not only visual delights but they are also some of the world’s most top-notch performanceoriented vehicles. With more than over 20,000 cars built so far, Lamborghini is showing no signs of slowing down. The legend now continues under the same conviction. Lamborghini cars are incomparable through their blend of fascinating design, supreme driving dynamics, technological capability, sophisticated workmanship and extremely high level of quality. There’s definitely nothing else like a Lambo…
HOW THE RAGING BULL LOGO CAME ABOUT? The year before Automobili Lamborghini was officially incorporated, Ferruccio Lamborghini had visited a ranch of Don Eduardo Miura, a renowned breeder of Spanish Fighting Bulls. It was after this visit to the ranch that Ferruccio was so impressed by the majestic animals and decided to use a fighting bull as the mascot of his company. Although Lamborghini’s first cars were given industry specific names, the later ones were mostly named after Don Eduardo’s bulls. And, thus the legendary raging bull emblem was born and this is why the exotic automaker has consistently draw upon the bullfighting connection in naming most of its racers.

The production model 350GT was constructed in-house with a new chassis and the V12 engine was detuned for mass production, developing only 280 bhp rather than the designer's intended 360 bhp. A total of 125 Lamborghini 350GT cars were sold. It was followed by the 450 GT and the four-seater 450 2+2.
LAMBORGHINI MIURA
LAMBORGHINI ESPADA
LAMBORGHINI ISLERO
LAMBORGHINI JALPA
LAMBORGHINI COUNTACH
LAMBORGHINI JARAMA
Debuting in 1966, the Miura became Lamborghini’s first mid-engined two-seater. The Miura’s unique layout and styling would become the standard for mid-engine two-seat high-performance sports cars, a trend that continues today. It came out with several engine types which were named the P400, the P400S and the P400SV.
In 1980, Lamborghini reworked the failed Silhouette into the Jalpa, which was powered by a 3.5-litre V8. More successful than the Silhouette, the Jalpa was produced by Lamborghini between 1981 and 1988. The Jalpa was Lamborghini’s last V8 model.
The Espada was Lamborghini’s first truly popular grand tourer model, with more than 1200 sold during its ten years of production starting from 1969. It was powered by a 3.9-litre, front-mounted evolution of the factory’s V12, producing 325 bhp.
The Lamborghini Countach, which replaced the Espada as Lamborghini’s best-selling car, is a mid-engined supercar that was produced from 1974 to 1990. Its design both pioneered and popularized the wedge-shaped, sharply angled look. A total of 2042 cars were built that included the LP 400, LP 400S, LP 500S, LP 5000QV and 25 Anniversary models.
The Lamborghini Islero was the replacement for the 400GT and featured the Lamborghini V12 engine that produced 325 bhp and had a top speed of 248 kmph. It though failed to attract buyers, with only 125 cars produced between 1968 and 1969. An updated Islero, dubbed the Islero S and retuned to 350 bhp, was released in 1969.
Lamborghini Jarama is a sports coupé which was built by Lamborghini between 1970 and 1976. It was designed by Bertone designer Marcello Gandini. Two different models were made, the original GT (1970–1973) model having a 350 bhp V12, and the GTS also known as Jarama S (1973–1976) with its output upped to 365 bhp.
LAMBORGHINI LM002
The Lamborghini LM002 was the first SUV and four-wheel drive model manufactured by Lamborghini. It was produced between 1986 and 1993. It was an unusual departure for Lamborghini which, at the time, was primarily known for high-performance grand tourers and sports cars.

LAMBORGHINI REVENTON
With only 20 units built, the Lamborghini Reventon is one of the most exotic and rarest cars in the world. Built in 2008, this 2-door coupe was inspired by fighter jets inside and out. Almost all the mechanical elements were sourced directly from the Murciélago LP640.

In October 2013, Lamborghini also released the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster which was limited to nine units.
LAMBORGHINI SESTO ELEMENTO
The Sesto Elemento is the lightest Lamborghini ever manufactured in 2012. The car is powered by a 570 bhp V10 engine and has a sensational power-toweight ratio of only 1.75 kilograms per bhp. It can go from 0-100 kmph in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 350 kmph. Lamborghini only made 20 Sesto Elemento’s exclusively for track use.

AUTOLIFE OWNERS’ REVIEW
TATA VISTA D90 OWNER REVIEWS The Tata Indica and Vista series of cars has been a major competitor in the hatchback segment and has seen its fair share of upgrades over the decades of its existence. The Tata Vista D90 is the latest avatar in the series which is a huge change from the modest impression set by its predecessors. The Tata Vista D90 is a fantastic offering that has pushed the benchmark for hatchbacks in Nepal to the next level by offering more power, better performance and louder aesthetic dynamics than most of its rivals. With its loud and sporty styling, the Vista D90 reflects as an upmarket
youth-centric sporty hatchback. The topend ZX+ variant gets premium interior features like a 6.7-inch touchscreen Blue5 tech multimedia system, steering mounted controls, 6-way height adjustable driver seat, intelligent rear wiper, automatic climate control, electrically adjusted ORVMs and a rear charging point. The 1.3 litre Quadrajet diesel engine puts out 90bhp of power at 4000 rpm and 200nm of torque from 17503000 rpm, one of the most powerful in its segment. The Vista D90 is thus a great value-for-
money car as it comes loaded to the gills at a price point much cheaper than its competitors, offering more space and power. With a very reasonable price tag for such a refined diesel motor, it's a steal considering the additional assurance of Tata's nationwide after-sales service facilities. The Tata Vista D90 is a hot hatch that bound to give its competitor a run for their money. So we talk to three owners of the Tata Vista D90 to hear their opinions on the ownership experience.
Narendra K Gupta Managing Director S.K. Dairy Milk I chose the Tata Vista D90 because of its comfort and economy. I drive the one with a full option and till now I am really happy with the car’s performance. The interior is very pleasant; it has an elegant dashboard, comfortable and spacious seats. The car looks stunning, it has a sporty look and its stylish alloy wheels add more to its look. For me, the aero dynamics of this car is one of the best among the other cars I have driven. The pick-up power and mileage of this vehicle is also very satisfying. Along with that, the spare parts are also easily available. This car is an absolute value for money because it has better features rather than other cars of same value. The after sales service of this car is also very good and the cost is low in comparison to the other cars of the same segment. My ownership experience with the Tata Vista D90 has been good so far. 72

Rajkumar Maharjan President of PABSON, Bhaktapur Principal of Mount View English Boarding School Before purchasing the Vista D90, I used to drive a Tata Indica Xeta which was a good car but I wanted a car with more features. I first read about the D90 in a newspaper and was instantly attracted to it. Stylish looks, Bluetooth technology, touchscreen multimedia system and auto A/C are some of the features which attracted me to this vehicle. This car is cramped with many modern features which cars of similar price range lack. What I love most about the Tata Vista is its space. The interior is designed in such a way that makes this car almost as spacious as a compact SUV. In addition to all this, the seats are extremely comfortable as well. The overall appearance of the car is just spectacular; it beats many other branded cars in term of looks. I just wish Tata had better resale value though and there is one major complain I have about this car. The car has extremely small windows which hampers the driver’s visibility to an extent. Apart from that, I think the car is extremely fine and a very good value for money.
Sushil Kumar Chapagain Senior Manager The Comfort Housing Pvt. Ltd I chose this vehicle as I found it to be highly stylish, comfortable and spacious. I wanted a car with diesel engines as they are more fuel efficient and tend to emit less carbon dioxide which is better in terms environment conservation too. Its exterior looks carry today’s trending aesthetic features such as stylish rear roof spoiler, alloy wheels, extra body cladding, etc. The interior design is just as good with an advanced multimedia system. The performance of the car is exceptional. In addition to all this, I find the customer service really satisfying and the sales representatives are well informed about their products and always eager to help and communicate. I haven’t had any problems with the car’s performance so far. I feel that like this vehicle is a good value for money, especially because it is really economical.

ROAD SAFETY EXHIBITION
A ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS EXPO ORGANIZED BY THE METROPOLITAN TRAFFIC POLICE DIVISION TO REDUCE ROAD ACCIDENTS AND STRENGTHEN ROAD SAFETY DISCIPLINE IN THE CAPITAL
PHOTOS: METROPOLITAN TRAFFIC POLICE DIVISION
On an average, more than thousand people are estimated to be killed in road accidents in Nepal every year and several thousand suffer major injuries. Most of these road accidents take place due to the lack of knowledge of basic traffic rules and severe negligence among road users. The physical damage incurred due to road accidents may be compensated, but the pain of human loss is irreparable and beyond imagination. So with the chief aim to promote road safety awareness, educate road civility and encourage road discipline among the public, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) in collaboration with the Department of Roads (DoR) and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), among others, had organized an extensive exhibition on road safety in the capital at the MTPD premises in Ram Shah Path from May 15-17, 2014.
on different occasions in the capital. It is the first time that the concerned authority organized such an elaborate exhibition in the capital to raise awareness on road safety. MTPD, in collaboration with various schools and organizations, had placed more than 30 booths at the MTPD premises that disseminated various information on road

safety awareness. In the three-day exhibition, which opened from 9am in the morning and closed at 5pm in evening, visitors were informed about traffic rules, road safety measures to be adopted for personal security, causes of road accidents and the correct use of road lanes, among others, through various creative pictorial demonstrations, videography, cartoons and interactive dummies, etc. Apart from the exhibition, traffic police also invited comedians and cine artists to teach about traffic rules, traffic signals and road uses through the use of humour and entertainment, while traffic police personnel, students, traffic engineers, experts, transport entrepreneurs and victims of road accidents provided practical first hand tips about road safety. Similarly, there were also materials put up on display in the exhibition which informed visitors about the various services provided by the traffic police and technology/ equipment used by traffic police for traffic management in the country. Various technologies, including breathalysers, CCTVs, traffic signals, radar guns and other equipment used by the traffic police were showcased at the expo. Interestingly, the primary arena set up for the exhibition was designed to resemble a road with the proper set-up of traffic lights, road dividers and zebra crossing for a more realistic approach in easily understanding the basic traffic rules and road safety measures. Replicas of some major Valley roads, equipped with all traffic signals and technologies, were used to provide situational information to the visitors. Much to the delight of enthusiastic motorists, there were also a couple of vintage vehicles put up on display.
THE EXHIBITION ENDED ON A SUCCESSFUL NOTE FULFILLING ITS CHIEF AIM OF RAISING AWARENESS ON ROAD SAFETY AMONG SEVERAL MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS.
The exhibition ended on a successful note fulfilling its chief aim of raising awareness on road safety among several motorists and pedestrians. Apart from the concepts of efficient road security checkpoints, good road engineering measures and safety alert mechanisms among many other legal provisions to ensure road safety, awareness campaigns like these could sure do well to encourage stakeholders to reduce road accidents to some extent, at a time when there is an alarming increase in road fatalities in the country. After the success of propagating vital road safety awareness information through this exhibition, the MTPD plans to organize and promote more similar programs in the future as well. Over 150000 visitors, mostly students, attended the three-day exhibition and received important information on traffic rules and road safety measures. facebook.com/AutolifeNepal
