I fell in love with accessory design during college and decided to pursue it after graduating Architecture in 2004. It was the only thing I could imagine doing for the rest of my life. Having started with only 6 bracelets in 2003, now my handmade pieces of authentic materials range from casual necklaces to glamorous bibs, bracelets, earrings, rings, headpieces, belts and clutch bags—catering to women from all walks of life. FLUTTER

Flutter is a line of costume jewelry that is meticulously designed and created by designer Katrina Ong. Like a couture gown, each piece is creatively conceptualized and crafted by hand using different techniques and personal experimentation that fits whatever theme the designer inspires it from. These are accessories that cannot be mass produced or made through a machine. To wear a Flutter piece is to wear art. Handcrafted jewelry is the haute couture of the accessories industry. Drawing from her work as an interior designer and coming across collections of furniture, heirlooms and artifacts from around the archipelago- along with the history that comes with these pieces- taking note of all the stories, details, patterns and symbolisms that were represented by these pieces as these were telltale signs of provenance, age and use. This is what led to her greater appreciation for the local jewellry traditions, both pre-colonial and colonial, that spoke of artistry, devotion and impeccable skill.

PANOPIO

Vicky and Bea Panopio are the sisterly tandem behind the brand. These two New York-schooled designers brought home their expertise on working with handcrafted jewels realized in fine and precious metals, diamonds, natural and colored stones. This Philippine-based design house is unafraid to experiment with different materials. Often times merging the unexpected with the classical, each collection is bound to be interesting.

Rags2Riches Inc. is a for-profit social enterprise based in Manila, Philippines, creating eco-ethical fashion and home accessories out of up cycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics by working with women living in the poor communities across the country. Rags2Richesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; philosophy stands upon its four bottom lines: People, Profit, Planet and Positive Influence.
